Bridge Over Troubled Water
I like this song - and each of these renditions. Do you have a favorite?
Well, I hate to say it, but I don't think Aretha or Elvis were quite present in their performances.
Aretha doesn't attack the melody. I like her improvisation, but she's singing the song more like a saxophonist accompanying a singer. And, it sounds a bit lazy.
Elvis has his moments there, but he is undermined by the schlocky arrangement, and even he can't overcome that.
I say Art Garfunkel. What a beautiful voice the man has.
