HAARETZ IS REPORTING IT, AND LGF IS LINKING TO IT.
I am skeptical that there is a deal. WHY?! Well, Haaretz has been reporting a PALESTINIAN UNITY GOVERNMENT DEAL between Hamas and Fatah every weeks for months -and been wrong every time. In fact today, Fatah discovered tunnels dug by Hamas to use in an assassination attempt against Abbas. (SURE Fatah disovered them: AFTER the Mossad informed them, I bet!)
And maybe the story is based on a leak of a wished-for agreement which is being explored by Kadima's Olmert and Livni in a desperate attempt to shore up their party as Olmert will probably soon be indicted on several corruption charges. Both the deal and the leak might be partisan PR moves which are not in Israel's interest. Or maybe the leak is an effort to harass Assad and strain his relationship with his boss - Iran? But that's all speculation.

The basic reason the deal is BULLSHIT is the deal's OPENING LINE:
An agreement of principles will be signed between the two countries, and following the fulfillment of all commitments, a peace agreement will be signed.Get that!? There will only be a peace agreement -- meaning a cessation of hostilities and formal mutual recognition -- AFTER all the other provisions have been fulfilled - like maybe in 5-15 YEARS. Well, if the Syrians are like the Palestinians, then they will just never live up to their end of the bargain. Nothing Assad has ever done leads me to think he is trustworthy. SHIT: He assassinated the Lebanese PM and supports Hizballah. Assad needs to be dealt with extreme prejudice. Like we should have Arafat.
