SARKOZY CRITICIZES SEGOLENE FOR MEETING WITH HIZBALLAH

IHT:
French conservative presidential hopeful Nicolas Sarkozy called Socialist rival Segolene Royal to task Saturday for meeting a Hezbollah lawmaker during a recent visit to the Middle East.

"One does not discuss things in this way, there are a certain number of conditions that should be respected," Sarkozy said during a debate in his conservative UMP party. ... Sarkozy ... suggested that Royal had violated international conditions set for talks with groups such as Lebanon-based Hezbollah, considered by the United States and many countries as a terrorist group. Sarkozy said the fact that the Hezbollah lawmaker was popularly elected was not enough to justify meeting with him.

Sarkozy also reiterated his position on the Middle East, which is considered more pro-Israeli than other French politicians.
This demonstrates why I think that - (with Blair leaving the stage - thus making lil' Denmark the only Western European nation unambiguously supporting the USA in the GWOT) - Sarkozy is Europe's last best hope for ending euro-islamification: he knows who the bad guys are and wants them defeated. I pray he wins.

Actually, Segolene Royal, although she dislikes the US, would be a much stronger partner than Chirac. She is not only a strong supporter of Israel, but her position on Iran is harsher than even George Bush.
