Tea Partiers who are pissed at the GOP since the astounding 2010 House victories are like patriots who - after we defeated Saddam in 3 weeks - celebrated thought the war was over:

• YES: Winning the house in 2010 was like defeating Iraq's army in 3 weeks.
• BUT: You can't mistake that for winning the entire war.
• Since 2010, we've been in a tough slog against Obama, the Senate and the media.
• Defeating Obama will be like capturing Saddam.
• And taking the Senate will be like defeating the insurgency.

When it was Mr. Hamm's turn to talk briefly with President Obama, "I told him of the revolution in the oil and gas industry and how we have the capacity to produce enough oil to enable America to replace OPEC. I wanted to make sure he knew about this."

The president's reaction? "He turned to me and said, 'Oil and gas will be important for the next few years. But we need to go on to green and alternative energy. [Energy] Secretary [Steven] Chu has assured me that within five years, we can have a battery developed that will make a car with the equivalent of 130 miles per gallon.'"

Mr. Hamm holds his head in his hands and says, "Even if you believed that, why would you want to stop oil and gas development? It was pretty disappointing."

If Obama really were an enemy of America, who wished to see our power decrease and the power of the Islamic bloc nations increase, would he behave any differently?

Spielberg and Schindler’s List writer Steven Zaillian to make Armenian “Genocide” film.

Both renowned producer-director Steven Spielberg and Schindler’s List writer Steven Zaillian are in negotiations with the Armenian National Cinema Center to develop a full-length feature film on the Armenian Genocide, Nouvelles d`Armйnie reports.

Steven Spielberg and Zaillian collaborated on Schinder’s List. Spielberg also produced and directed the movie Munich.

It is hoped that the film will be ready by 2015, in time for the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The date of the beginning of the Armenian Genocide is conventionally held to be April 24, 1915, the day that Ottoman authorities arrested some 250 Armenian intellectuals and community leaders in Constantinople. 

The Armenian Genocide has also been called the Armenian Massacres and, by Armenians, the Great Crime.

The number of Armenian deaths is generally held to have been between one and one and a half million.Turkey continues to deny the existence of the Armenian Genocide ever occurred. Instead, Turkey says that while that during World War I, many Armenians died, the number of Armenian victims has been greatly inflated.

The country continues to face calls to accept the events of that period as genocide. Reportedly, to date, twenty countries have officially recognized the events of the period as genocide. Most historians also accept this view.

Gevorg Gevorgyan, Director of the Armenfilm studio and of the National Film Center in Yerevan said, “By the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide we must show the world a film that would be even more impressive than Mayrik or Ararat. From tonight’s discussion with Steve Schmidt, senior strategist for the 2008 McCain-Palin campaign:

Matthews: “Steve Schmidt, my friend, you talk to a lot of Republicans out there. Are they aware that the media is basically rooting for Santorum out of sheer fear of the ennui, the boredom that will set in if it looks like Romney locks this thing up? At the moment he locks this thing up, we face a long, dull summer of Mitt Romney.”

Schmidt: “I think it’s pretty obvious when you look at the coverage of the race where most of the reporters are, where their rooting interests are so far in the race.”

President Obama threatened to veto legislation that would expand oil drilling in Alaska and offshore reserves and greenlight the Keystone XL pipeline construction, after he warned this morning that gas prices will continue to rise.

“Because this bill jeopardizes safety, weakens environmental and labor protections, and fails to make the investments needed to strengthen the Nation’s roads, bridges, rail, and transit systems,” the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) said in a statement released this evening, “the President’s senior advisors would recommend that he veto this legislation.” Obama has only vetoed two bills so far in his presidency.

I'm serious about the question in the title.

I want to know the answer.

I have heard of no positive moves whatsoever. Weasel Zippers comments; "As far as I can tell Obama’s entire domestic energy strategy involves investing taxpayer dollars on “green” energy companies that go bankrupt."

I think he may be right about that.

Here's the thing. During the past few years, America HAS DECREASED OUR DEPENDENCE ON OIL. Goldman Sachs recently predicted that America would be a net exporter of oil by 2017. Just ten years ago, if I am not mistaken, we imported half our oil.

So, how did we go from being a massive importer of oil, to a place where we are poised to become a net exporter?

Is this because of decisions Barack Obama has made? Or is it because of decisions that were made during the Bush Administration?

One would think that if Obama were responsible for this massive swing in oil production he would be proud of the fact, and he would be touting his successes in "eliminating our dependence on foreign oil." Right?

But, he does not do that. Instead, he brags about "Green Energy projects", and tried to hide the fact that all the projects into which he has dumped money are losing money and/or going out of business.

So, once again, I ask: HAS OBAMA APPROVED ANY MOVES FORWARD IN DOMESTIC OIL DRILLING OR PRODUCTION?

SANTORUM IS A BIG GOVERNMENT GUY

Rick Santorum has surged back into contention for the Republican presidential nomination because of persistent reservations among conservatives about Mitt Romney. But those on the right who embrace Santorum as an alternative should do so with no illusions.... as Senator, he still voted like a big government Republican on many occasions. 

As a Senator from Pennsylvania, Santorum took earmarks, pushed a support program for dairy farmers, sided with unions and backed steel tariffs. In these instances, when free market principles clashed with local concerns, he abandoned limited government conservatives.

SANTORUM IS NOT MORE RELIABLY CONSERVATIVE THAN ROMNEY, AND HE HAS ZERO EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE.

The new survey shows the president leading Romney by six points, 48 percent to 42 percent, among registered voters. Last month, the two men were tied at 45 percent each.  

Mr. Obama's lead over former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, who has surged to a lead in national polls, is eight points: 49 percent to 41 percent.   

Romney's drop in support against the president is attributable to a shift among independents. Last month, independents favored the former Massachusetts governor by eight points over Mr. Obama. In the new survey, Mr. Obama holds the edge, leading Romney among independents by nine points.

The head of the eurozone countries has downgraded a eurozone finance ministers meeting on Wednesday, saying Greece has not yet given the necessary assurances about its austerity plan. 

Ministers, who had demanded Greece find an extra 325m euros of savings, had been set to meet in Brussels. 

But Eurogroup President Jean-Claude Juncker said the talks would be replaced by a conference call. 

He said technical work with Greece was still needed "in a number of areas".

Update: 

The meeting of eurozone finance ministers that was meant to approve the bailout that Greece needs to avoid defaulting on its debts was called off last night. 

The Athens government had failed to provide enough detail on its new austerity measures, said the president of the eurogroup, Jean-Claude Juncker, despite the Greek parliament's vote for €3.3bn of further cuts on Sunday. 

Mr Juncker said: "I did not yet receive the required political assurances from the leaders of the Greek coalition parties on the implementation of the programme." A meeting has been scheduled for next week. 

China left Europe's top officials empty-handed yesterday as it refused to pledge more funds to help resolve the eurozone sovereign debt crisis. Speaking at a joint China-EU summit in Beijing, Premier Wen Jiabao promised to co-operate with Europe to improve the situation, but failed to make a specific commitment to invest further in the various pan-European bailout funds.

There is no deal and the euro is far from out of the woods.

In a sign of the doubts about the new program, Luxembourg Finance Minister Luc Frieden said in Washington on Monday that the next round of international support for Greece may be the last.

“We should do our best to keep the euro zone with all its members, but the key lies with Greece,” Frieden said in an address at the Atlantic Council. If the strict conditions of the next international loans are not met, “they exclude themselves from the euro zone. . . . That might to some extent let Greece have a new start.”

THAT WOULD CAUSE SHORT-TERM CHAOS BUT IN THE LONG-TERM WOULD BE BETTER FOR GREECE.


AND IF IT WOULD BE THE BEGINNING OF THE END OF THE EURO, THEN IT WOULD BE GOOD FOR ALL EUROPE, TOO!

Total retail sales increased 0.4 percent after being flat in December, the Commerce Department said on Tuesday.

According to the Persian service of the Fars News Agency, Stone adopted the name Ali upon becoming a Shiite Muslim.

“The conversion to Islam is not abandoning Christianity or Judaism, which I was born with. It means I have accepted Muhammad and other prophets,” Stone told AFP.

Oh, do stuff it. Muhammed was not a prophet, he was a mass murderer, racist and misogynist, and a slave-owner, and anyone who considers themselves respecting of civilized mindsets would not mix monsters in with sensible people.

Stone Jr's conversion to Islam decidedly rubs off upon his father's already repellent reputation and I don't want to watch any of his movies ever again.

German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said Europe is better prepared for a Greek default than two years ago, jacking up pressure on Greece to hold to its pledges and find the savings needed to win a second bailout.

Euro-area governments will decide “soon” on the new aid program, European Union Economic and Monetary Commissioner Olli Rehn said. Finance ministers are due to convene in Brussels tomorrow for their second extraordinary meeting in a week after telling Greek officials to identify additional cuts of 325 million euros ($428 million). The measures are among conditions that must be met by tomorrow for Greece to secure a 130 billion- euro rescue needed to avert financial collapse.
