POLICE IN AKKO MAY BE COVERING UP CRIME OUT OF APPEASEMENT

A mother whose son was stabbed by a robber-stalker has accused the police in Akko of this:

(IsraelNN.com) The mother of a young Jewish stabbing victim in Akko believes authorities are keeping the attack quiet in order to appease local Arabs. Speaking from her son's bedside in a hospital in central Israel, where he is in moderate but stable condition, Sari Y. explains that she wants what happened to her child to be made public “so that Jewish blood will not be freely spilled.”

Avoiding violence?
Police and other officials would rather keep the fact that an Arab violently attacked a Jew under wraps, Sari says, in order to avoid an outburst of Jewish-Arab violence. The city of Akko was the site of violent riots just over a year ago following an incident in which an Arab drove into a Jewish neighborhood on Yom Kippur with his radio blaring, and Jews were falsely accused of murdering an Arab driver; since that time, officials have taken pains to ensure that the city regains its reputation for coexistence.

If this is what the police are doing, it should be taken to the Knesset, IMO. That's throughly reprehensible for authorities to be acting out of "cultural sensitivity", and even here in Israel, this is unacceptable.

Saudi Arabia's rulers threatened to make it easier for terrorists to attack London unless corruption investigations into their arms deals were halted, according to court documents revealed yesterday.

Previously secret files describe how investigators were told they faced "another 7/7" and the loss of "British lives on British streets" if they pressed on with their inquiries and the Saudis carried out their threat to cut off intelligence.

Prince Bandar, the head of the Saudi national security council, and son of the crown prince, was alleged in court to be the man behind the threats to hold back information about suicide bombers and terrorists. He faces accusations that he himself took more than £1bn in secret payments from the arms company BAE.

He was accused in yesterday's high court hearings of flying to London in December 2006 and uttering threats which made the prime minister, Tony Blair, force an end to the Serious Fraud Office investigation into bribery allegations involving Bandar and his family.

The threats halted the fraud inquiry, but triggered an international outcry, with allegations that Britain had broken international anti-bribery treaties.

Tony Blair leaves behind a legacy of cowardice and appeasement of the most ludicrious kind, that may only be seen in England.

The two opposition parties share similar views of how to tackle the terrorism problem. The new approach is more likely to be responsive to the consensus of the Pakistani public than was Mr. Musharraf’s and is more likely to shun a heavy hand by the military and rely on dialogue with the militants.

Mr. Zardari said his party would seek talks with the militants in the tribal areas along the Afghan border, where the Taliban and Al Qaeda have carved out a stronghold, as well as with the nationalist militants who have battled the Pakistani Army in Baluchistan Province.

Many in Pakistan, including several parties that boycotted the elections, have been strongly opposed to Mr. Musharraf’s use of the army to battle tribesmen in the name of the campaign against terrorism, which is seen as an American agenda.

“We will have a dialogue with those who are up in the mountains and those who are not in Parliament,” Mr. Zardari said. “We want to take all those along who are against Pakistan and working against Pakistan.”

Daniel Pipes looks at developments involving Shari'a in Britain, and says that, as reprehensible as Dr. Rowan Williams' approval of introducing Shari'a in the country is, it could still signal where England may be headed to in the future when you consider their acts of appeasement et al, in recent years.

And that's why America needs to learn from the grave mistakes being made in countries like England now, so that they won't find their way into the US and cause whatever problems haven't been caused already. North Korea is unlikely to abandon its nuclear weapons before US President George W. Bush leaves office in January 2009, his special envoy said Thursday, calling for a revamp of six-party talks on the crisis.

Jay Lefkowitz, special envoy for human rights in North Korea, also accused China and South Korea of not exerting enough pressure on North Korea during the talks that first began in 2003 to end Pyongyang's nuclear weapons drive.

"It is increasingly clear that North Korea will remain in its present nuclear status when the administration leaves office in one year," he told a forum in Washington.

Of this is true, then I'm extraordinarily disappointed in Bush.

And since the traitorous and misleading but propagandistically effective NIE report (more here) was released, Iran is OFF THE HOOK, and the pressure on them seems gone, and they seem more adventurous as a result; (for example, one mist only think back to that cigarette boat incident of last week).

It seems that Iran and North Korea - with the help of anti-American leftists in the State Department and the CIA - have "run out the clock" on the Bush Administration.

And while this is happening Turkey is STEADILY becoming more and more hostile to the Kurds of northern Iraq and more and more Islamicized at home. This is the same islamicist regime which forbade the USA the ability to enter Saddam's Iraq via Turkey and prevented us from smashing Saddam with a hammer and anvil as had been planned by Tommy Franks. This was a sever blow to both our war and our post war effort.

And Pakistan is destabilizing, and Thailand has had a coup while the southern "restive" regions roil with islamoterror and thousands of deaths.

If Bush leaves the problems for the next president to deal with (as now seems likely), then it is ALL THE MORE IMPORTANT who the next president is.

We mustn't elect anyone to the left of the liberal hawk and wimp Bush.

Been there; done that. It's doesn't work.

We need a real conservative HAWK who will reinvent the Bush Doctrine and smash our enemies.

Or at least be tougher with them than he is with Israel.

The Folly and Peril of Bush's Policy of Appeasing of Palestinian Jihadoterror

THE Bush Doctrine - born on Sept. 20, 2001, when President Bush bluntly warned the sponsors of violent jihad: "You are either with us, or you are with the terrorists" - is dead. Its demise was announced by Condoleezza Rice last Friday.

The secretary of state was speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One en route with the president to Kuwait from Israel. She was explaining why the administration had abandoned the most fundamental condition of its support for Palestinian statehood - an end to Palestinian terror.

Rice's explanation, recounted here by The Washington Times, was as striking for its candor as for its moral blindness:

"The 'road map' for peace, conceived in 2002 by Mr. Bush, had become a hindrance to the peace process, because the first requirement was that the Palestinians stop terrorist attacks.

As a result, every time there was a terrorist bombing, the peace process fell apart and went back to square one. Neither side ever began discussing the 'core issues': the freezing of Israeli settlements in the West Bank, the right of Palestinian refugees to return, the outline of Israel's border, and the future of Jerusalem.

"The reason that we haven't really been able to move forward on the peace process for a number of years is that we were stuck in the sequentiality of the road map. So you had to do the first phase of the road map before you moved on to the third phase of the road map, which was the actual negotiations of final status," Rice said.

. . . What the US-hosted November peace summit in Annapolis did was... "break that tight sequentiality. . . . You don't want people to get hung up on settlement activity or the fact that the Palestinians haven't fully been able to deal with the terrorist infrastructure. . ."

Thus the president who once insisted that a "Palestinian state will never be created by terror" now insists that a Palestinian state be created regardless of terror.

... Whatever happened to the moral clarity that informed the president's worldview in the wake of 9/11? Whatever happened to the conviction that was at the core of the Bush Doctrine: that terrorists must be anathematized and defeated, and the fever-swamps that breed them drained and detoxified?

Bush's support for the creation of a Palestinian state was always misguided - rarely has a society shown itself less suited for sovereignty ...

... If the Bush Doctrine - "with us or with the terrorists" - were still in force, the peace process would be shelved. The administration would be treating the Palestinians as pariahs, allowing them no assistance of any kind, much less movement toward statehood, so long as their encouragement of terrorism persisted.

But it is the Bush Doctrine that has been shelved. In its hunger for Arab support against Iran - and perhaps in a quest for a historic "legacy" - the administration has dropped "with us or with the terrorists." It is hellbent instead on bestowing statehood upon a regime that stands unequivocally with the terrorists.

... When George W. Bush succeeded Bill Clinton, he was determined not to replicate his predecessor's blunders in the Middle East, a determination that intensified after 9/11. Yet now he too has succumbed to the messianism that leads US presidents to imagine they can resolve the Arab-Israeli conflict. Clinton's legacy in this arena was the second intifada, which drenched the region in blood.

To what fresh hell will Bush's diplomacy lead?

Celebrating Anniversary, Hamas Warns Of Intifada

Hamas threatened to launch a new uprising against Israel on Saturday when hundreds of thousands of Islamist supporters rallied in Gaza City to mark the group's 20th anniversary.

"Our people are capable of launching a third and a fourth intifada until the dawn of victory rises up," said Khaled Meshaal, the group's exiled leader, in a speech recorded on Friday at his base in Damascus.

The central square in Gaza City was awash with green flags and dozens of armed, masked men from the group's military wing patrolled in a crowd estimated at between 300,000 and 500,000.

Hamas leader in Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh, said the movement was growing more popular because of its stance against the United States and Israel.

"Today is the day of Jihad, resistance and uprising," Haniyeh said. "Those who remain committed to the constant rights of their people, those who make an enemy of America and the Zionist occupation (Israel) gain popularity. This is Hamas."

Germany could be asked to ban the U.S.-based Church of Scientology under a Hamburg security official's proposal that contends the group violates human rights.

Hamburg's secretary of the interior, Udo Nagel, plans to seek a nationwide ban of Scientology at this week's meeting of top German security officials, spokeswoman Ulrike Sweden said Monday.

The German government considers Scientology a commercial enterprise that takes advantage of vulnerable people. During the summer, it initially refused to allow the producers of a movie starring Scientology member Tom Cruise as Germany's most famous anti-Hitler plotter to film at the site where the hero was executed, although it did not expressly state Scientology as its reason.

If all 16 states agree to the proposal to ban Scientology, German Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble would be asked to initiate proceedings against it, Sweden said, confirming a report by Focus magazine.

The report quotes Nagel saying that Scientology pursues "anti- constitutional goals in an aggressively fierce" manner that run counter to human rights and dignity.

BOLTON SAYS IT RIGHT: WE SHOULD ATTACK IRAN AND DEPOSE OF AHMEDINEJAD

John Bolton spoke to the British Tories and had the following to say:

Former US ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton told Tory delegates in Britain Sunday that efforts by the UK and the EU to negotiate with Iran had failed and that he saw no alternative to a pre-emptive strike on suspected nuclear facilities in the country.

Bolton said that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was "pushing out" and "is not receiving adequate push-back" from the West. "I don't think the use of military force is an attractive option, but I would tell you I don't know what the alternative is.

"Because life is about choices, I think we have to consider the use of military force. I think we have to look at a limited strike against their nuclear facilities."

He added that any strike should be followed by an attempt to remove the "source of the problem", Ahmadinejad.

"If we were to strike Iran it should be accompanied by an effort at regime change ... The US once had the capability to engineer the clandestine overthrow of governments. I wish we could get it back," he said.

Bolton said that the fact that only partial intelligence about Iran's nuclear activity existed should not be used as an excuse not to act.

"Intelligence can be wrong in more than one direction... Responding after they (nuclear devices) are used is unacceptable."

Bolton also said the UN was "fundamentally irrelevant".

The former envoy criticized Britain's "softly softly" approach to Iran's imprisonment of 15 British sailors in April.

They were released after Ahmadinejad announced he was making a "gift" to the British people. "They [Iran] got no response from the UK or the US. If you were the Iranian leader, what conclusion do you draw?"

A very sad thing about how the British navy sailors were freed is that the UK may have paid Iran to get them back (H/T: Molten Thought). If that's so, I'd say it makes England an unreliable partner in the GWOT.

Former French president Jacques Chirac and former German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder have arrived in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi on private visits, the Kremlin said on Sunday.

The ex-leaders traveled to Russia on the invitation of President Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin press office said.

On September 25, Schroeder will chair a shareholders' meeting in Sochi of Nord Stream AG, a company building a natural gas pipeline under the Baltic, of which the ex-chancellor is the supervisory chief.

The former French and German leaders Jacques Chirac and Gerhard Schroeder arrived at Russia's Black Sea coastal resort of Sochi on Sunday as guests of President Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin said. Contacted by AFP, a Kremlin spokesman described the visit of the former French president and the former German chancellor as "private" and confirmed they had been invited by Putin.

The Russian leader had close ties with both men during their terms in office, symbolised in their united front against the 2003 US-led invasion of Iraq. Schroeder was to attend a meeting in Sochi of the shareholders' committee of the Gazprom-led company that plans to build a pipeline under the Baltic Sea to Germany, the RIA Novosti news agency reported.

AHMEDINEJAD SHOULD BE ARRESTED IF HE ENTERS THE US

The JTA reports that calls have been made for the arrest of Ahmedinejad, something I said two days ago should be done:

Israel and its allies say they want Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrested when he arrives next week in New York for the United Nations General Assembly.

On Monday, a team of lawyers and diplomats who want Ahmadinejad tried for inciting genocide will call on the U.S. Department of Justice to arrest the Iranian president when he lands on American soil. The call comes as Jewish groups are preparing for a full-court press on the Iran issue in meetings planned with world leaders gathered for the yearly assembly. Also on Monday, a protest rally is planned across from U.N. Headquarters.

"He is an international war criminal," said Harvard Law School Professor Alan Dershowitz. "He has repeatedly violated the anti-genocide convention. He is as guilty as the Rwandans who are convicted and sentenced to years in prison for inciting genocide."

In recent days, Israel's ambassador to the U.N., Dan Gillerman, has also called for Ahmadinejad to be arrested and put on trial for incitement to genocide.

Ahmadenijad's visit has been roiling New York for days. A scheduled appearance at Columbia University has prompted calls for the school to rescind the invitation. Columbia refused, invoking the principle of free speech. And an uproar over the Iranian president's request to visit Ground Zero caused a swift reaction from the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, which condemned reports that the New York City Police Department intended to provide him with an honor escort. Within hours, the department clarified that it had denied the request, an announcement duly welcomed by Jewish leaders.

Nobody with common sense should give donations to Columbia U. for as long as shady people like Lee Bollinger are going to run it. If they go through with their invitation to this monster, that's exactly why any and all who disapprove should have nothing to do with them. All that talk of "free speech" is decidedly a weak excuse.

By arresting Ahmedinejad, the west could score a victory in the war on terror by weakening Iran significantly, as their horrible head of horror would be "cut off". The US would be strongly advised to take action to cuff him upon arrival and try him for war crimes, planned and current, and imprison him in a dungeon, and not to let any ditherings of anti-war activists and corrupt UN officials perturb them. Then, a takeover of Iran could possibly be easier, as well as establishing a more reasonable government there.

According to a story in the Washington Times (hat tip: Kathryn Lopez), rank & file staff at the Department of Justice have objected to the fact that the Department is "co-sponsoring a convention held by the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) — an unindicted co-conspirator in an ongoing federal terrorist funding case."

"There is outrage among lawyers that the Department of Justice is funding a group named as a co-conspirator in a terrorist financing case," said a Justice lawyer who spoke to The Washington Times on the condition of anonymity. [Emphasis added.]

The Holy Land Foundation terrorist financing case is "the largest terror financing trial in history, implicating some very high-profile Islamic advocacy groups." So why is the Department of Justice doing it?

"This is an important outreach opportunity, and a chance to reach a community that is at once very much discriminated against, and very wary of the national government and its willingness to protect them," Mrs. Lorenzo-Giguere said in an e-mail obtained by The Washington Times.

"It would be a great step forward to break through those barriers. And Chicago is lovely this time of year," Mrs. Lorenzo-Giguere said.

Ba'athist Party loyalists are waiting like vultures for America's defeat with one eye on signs of Coalition weakness and the other on the Iraqi seat of power. No wonder they are being compared to the notorious Khmer Rouge of another era. A disaster for both America and Iraq would deliver a huge psychological victory directly into the hands of the Defeatocrats. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out why Hillary is calling for the withdrawal of the troops and the removal of the present Iraqi government.

President Bush's recent comparison between the pullout of the current conflict and Vietnam is an important one as there are some parallels that need to be considered. There is an excellent article taken from 'The Weekly Standard' which begins with the opening, 'Like a pig in muck, the Left loves to wallow in Vietnam. But only in their "Vietnam". Not in the real Vietnam war.'

The writer describes how while the U.S. Left celebrated the country's pullout from the war, in Phnom Penh, former Cambodian prime minister Sirk Matak wrote to John Gunther Dean, the U.S. ambassador, turning down his offer of the evacuation which would have saved his life:

Dear Excellency and Friend:I thank you very sincerely for your letter and for your offer to transport me towards freedom. I cannot, alas, leave in such a cowardly fashion. As for you, and in particular for your great country, I never believed for a moment that you would have this sentiment of abandoning a people which has chosen liberty. You have refused us your protection, and we can do nothing about it. You leave, and my wish is that you and your country will find happiness under this sky. But, mark it well, that if I shall die here on the spot and in my country that I love, it is no matter, because we all are born and must die. I have only committed this mistake of believing in you [the Americans].

Please accept, Excellency and dear friend, my faithful and friendly sentiments.

The writer goes on to explain that "the Khmer Rouge took Phnom Penh a few days later. Sirik Matak was executed: shot in the stomach, he was left without medical help and took three days to die. Between 1 and 2 million Cambodians were murdered by the Khmer Rouge in the next three years. Next door, tens of thousands of Vietnamese were killed, and many more imprisoned. Hundreds of thousands braved the South China Sea to reach freedom.

The United States welcomed the refugees--but we were in worldwide retreat.'

This is the real reason why Vietnam is remembered as a disaster, by the defeat and aftermath. The Democrats would love us to pull out again so that the current war will be Vietnam revisited. Today Iraq has its own Khmer Rouge waiting on the sidelines, confident of moving in, exacting revenge, carrying out a blood bath, bending the country to their will and humiliating the West, in particular those countries which participated in the effort to restore order in the region by this war.

Saddam's henchmen, the Ba'athists, who are at the moment exiled in Syria are waiting in the wings for America to pull out. Their spokesman, puffing on a Havana cigar is all boasts:

"Blair made Britain a satellite for the US," said the man, who identified himself as Abu Mohammad during a rare interview in a Damascus coffee shop.

"Bush humiliated America and Blair humiliated Britain. If they [Britain] pull out they will break one wing of the occupation."

He speaks with the confidence of a man who is ready to 'pave the way' for American withdrawal (which he sees as inevitable) and who can already see himself with a position of power in a Ba'ath run Iraq.

This party is recognized as the undermining force which has been behind the attacks on the Coalition and has links with many insurgents in Iraq.

The Ba'athists, you can be sure, are every bit as bloodthirsty and vicious as the Khmer Rouge. They can taste the blood-soaked taste of power, and smell the sweet smell of resounding defeat for the Coalition.

The archetypal Conservative leader, Reagan led the U.S. out of the wilderness of the Carter era. After years of Leftist wishy-washy appeasements and the perverse and weak-willed policies of Carteresque Democratic government, Reagan was like a breath of fresh air. I close with a quote from a speech by Reagan that rocked the Left in the 1980s:

"As the years dragged on, we were told that peace would come if we would simply stop interfering and go home. It is time we recognized that ours was, in truth, a noble cause. In April 1975, American Ambassador John Gunther Dean invited Cambodian Prince Sisowath Sirik Matak to flee Phnom Penh ahead of the Khmer Rouge.

Sirik Matak was a cousin of the ruling Prince Norodom Sihanouk of Cambodia, and while the ruling Prince was hobnobbing with the Communists in Beijing, he participated in a coup d'etat which established a pro-Western, free-market based republic in Cambodia. Norodom Sihanouk sided with the communists, and collaborated with the Khmer Rouge from his sanctuary in China.

In reply to Ambassador Dean's offer of escape, Prince Sisowath Sirik Matak sent this letter:

"Dear Excellency and Friend,

I thank you very sincerely for your letter and your offer to transport me towards freedom. I cannot, alas, leave in such a cowardly fashion.

The Prince was murdered by the Khmer Rouge less than two weeks later, and the elimination of the nation's non-communist leaders foreshadowed the brutal and ruthless genocide of the "killing fields."

I encourage Barry Obama and John Edwards to look at the faces of the victims of the Khmer Rouge in photographs taken as they faced their executioners, here.

Then let them tell us again why "preventing a potential genocide in Iraq isn't a good enough reason to keep U.S. forces" in Iraq.
