BROOKLYN JEWISH NEIGHBORHOOD DESECRATED WITH NAZI SYMBOLS

A very abominable thing has taken place in Brooklyn:

The Borough Park Jewish neighborhood in Brooklyn was defaced with Nazi swastikas in a half-dozen different spots, including on a synagogue, on Friday.

The New York Daily News reported that three of the symbols were discovered painted along 16th Avenue: on a synagogue, Stolin Bais Medrash, on the Fishmans Grocery security gate and at 16th Avenue Glatt Takeout.

Another swastika was spotted on the side of a van parked on 42nd St. between 15th and 16th Avenues, police said, according to the report. The fifth was found on a building on 18th Ave, and a sixth swastika was also discovered on the outside of Junior High School 223, The Flatbush Scoop reported.

Police are looking for whoever is responsible and the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating.

“What kind of sick person does this in a neighborhood of Holocaust survivors?” Assemblyman Dov Hikind, a Democrat who represents Borough Park, was quoted by the New York Daily News as having said.

“There will be no tolerance for hatred here and our community will address this from top to bottom,” Hikind, whose parents also survived the Holocaust, added. “We’ll show that we’re serious about prosecuting criminals who would hurt us with their vile actions.”

The report said that City Councilman David Greenfield — who represents Midwood, Boro Park and Bensonhurst — has put up a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

“Once again, we find ourselves under attack from individuals who think nothing of spreading hate and fear throughout the community,” he said in a statement.

There's no telling just who it was who committed the crime just yet, whether it was Islamofascists in the US, or even people hanging out with the Occupy movement. And who knows if we ever will learn just who it was?

The military often acts as a bulwark against absolute chaos. Think Pakistan, as an example.


ANOTHER THOUGHT - This is yet another repudiation of Obama's policy. The "Arab Spring" was untenable from the get go. It was not a Democracy movement, but a Fascist movement which pretended to use Democracy to get elected only to institute it's dictatorial, violent, and insane policies. 


Obama has been on quite a losing streak the past few weeks, and now, perhaps, the biggest "jewel" in his foreign policy crown is beginning to crumble.


In a way, the Arab Spring has been the Obama equivalent of Reagan's "tear down this wall", or Nixon's opening up of China.

CAIRO — Egypt’s Islamist-dominated parliament is likely to be suspended after a high court ruling Thursday that one-third of its lawmakers were elected unconstitutionally, officials said.


Local newspapers and Arabic television channels reported that Egypt’s military rulers were going to take over legislative power in the country and planned to announce the dissolution of the lower house of parliament later Thursday.

The court also ruled that Mubarak ally Ahmed Shafiq is allowed to run for president in elections that begin on Saturday, invalidating a law that bars members of the ousted dictator’s party from participating in political life.


Incensed revolutionaries called the two decisions the death of Egypt’s revolution, and declared the dissolution of parliament and Shafiq’s participation in the landmark presidential vote the final steps in a military coup.


Protesters clashed with security forces outside the courthouse minutes after the decisions were announced.
“This ruling means that the next president will work without institutions, he will face huge criticism and rage,” said Sobhi Saleh, a leading lawmaker from the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice  party.


Among Egypt’s old guard, Saleh claimed, “there was outrage over the Islamic majority of the parliament. And there was a plan to destroy it.”


The court said that political parties unlawfully fielded candidates for the one-third of seats in the lower house of parliament that were supposed to be set aside for independent candidates.


As a result, lawmakers elected to those seats likely will lose their posts. Maher Sami, a spokesman for the constitutional court, told reporters that the ruling effectively calls for the dissolution of the entire lower house of parliament.


“Both decisions empower the Mubarak status-quo, which is no surprise, as the judges of the court were appointed by the latter, and represent a part of the so-called ‘deep-state,’ ” Omar Ashour, an Egypt expert at Exeter University, said in an e-mail.


Shafiq will compete for the presidency against Mohamed Morsi, a Muslim Brotherhood candidate. Morsi and his allies say Shafiq wants to return Egypt’s government to the repressive tactics Mubarak favored. Shafiq, in turn, says a Morsi victory would transform Egypt into an ultra-conservative Islamic state.


The judges on the top court are Mubarak appointees and seen as sympathetic to the old order. That perception could fuel confrontations between protesters and security forces, who were recently given vast powers to detain civilians.


The lower house, known as the “people’s assembly,” is the most powerful part of the parliament. The Muslim Brotherhood, which controls just under half the seats in the lower house, stands to lose the most from the decision.


The question of Shafiq’s eligibility to run for office centered on whether Shafiq ought to be subject to a recently passed law that bars senior members Mubarak’s disbanded National Democratic Party from political life for 10 years.


The court ruled the law was unconstitutional.


Amr Darrag, another leading member of the Freedom and Justice Party, said his party would respect the judicial decision regarding Shafiq’s fitness to run for office and would continue to strive to beat him at the ballot box.


“Our position was to do our best to legally isolate Ahmed Shafiq from the post of president,” Darrag said. “If we can’t do that then the people will isolate him with the vote.”

Egypt’s Supreme Constitutional Court on Thursday ruled that the Islamist-led Parliament must be immediately dissolved, while also blessing the right of Hosni Mubarak’s last prime minister to run for president, escalating a battle for power between the remnants of the toppled order and rising Islamists.

The high court, packed with sympathizers of the ousted president, appears to be engaged in a frontal legal assault on the Muslim Brotherhood, the once outlawed organization whose members swept to power in Parliament this spring and whose candidate was the front-runner for the presidency as well. The presidential election runoff is scheduled to go ahead Saturday and Sunday.

The ruling — which critics said amounted to a back-door coup — means that whoever emerges as the winner of the runoff scheduled for this weekend will take power without the check of a sitting Parliament and could even exercise some influence over the election of a future Parliament. It vastly compounds the stakes in the presidential race, raises questions about the ruling military council’s commitment to democracy, and makes uncertain the future of a constitutional assembly recently formed by the Parliament as well.

The police's National Unit for International Investigations has arrested an Eritrean citizen, Kabri Gabrius, who lives in Tel Aviv, on suspicion of assisting a terror group.

Gabrius, 22, is suspected of involvement in a terror group that operates in the Sinai Desert. He is believed to have been raising funds and collecting intelligence information for it.

The list of offenses he is suspected of includes transferring money to a terror group, carrying out a property transaction for terror purposes, conspiracy to commit a crime and money laundering.

He was brought Tuesday before a judge in Rishon LeTzion, where his remand was extended by five days. According to Maariv, he was arrested near Hevron, and a large amount of money was found in his car. he claimed the money was intended for buying land.

The two other suspects arrested with Gabrius are an Arab with Israeli citizenship and an Arab from the Palestinian Authority.

Very disturbing indeed. Anyone who's going to come to Israel for that kind of evil intent does not belong, and should be kept in prison before being rocketed back to their original country immediately afterwards.

That international tribunal would be granted the power to overrule American law and impose trade sanctions on the United States for failing to abide by its rulings.

"We will not negotiate bilateral trade agreements that stop the government from protecting the environment, food safety, or the health of its citizens; give greater rights to foreign investors than to U.S. investors; require the privatization of our vital public services; or prevent developing country governments from adopting humanitarian licensing policies to improve access to life-saving medications," reads the campaign document. 

Yet nearly all of those vows are violated by the leaked Trans-Pacific document.

BIZARRE TATTOO DIVERSITY IN GREEN LANTERN

In DC's latest upcoming publicity stunt for diversity's sake, they're coming up with a GL member who may or may not be a Muslim (and still no Armenian characters anywhere in sight), with a tattoo of the Arabic word for courage on his right arm and is carrying a handgun:

While the introduction of an Arab character might be welcomed as bringing more diversity, the portrayal of the new Green Lantern on the cover of Green Lantern #0 is generating quite a bit of controversy. If the character is an Arab, many fans are pointing out that permanent tattoos are forbidden in the Islam religion. However, others have also pointed out that the tattoo could be non-permanent, and thus permitted. It’s also possible the new Green Lantern could be an Arab but not Muslim.

Well if he's not a Muslim like that Nightrunner character in Batman Inc, and is just simply of Arabic descent, then there's really no worries there. But that handgun? Just what is that supposed to be for?

In any case, they're right about what the Religion of Peace decrees: as told in Bukhari Vol.3 #299 in the Hadith, tattoos are forbidden, and it can include even temporary ones like what singer Erykah Badu got herself (H/T: Jihad Watch). That could explain why even if the tattoo on the new GL were a sci-fi application, it's still causing controversy nevertheless.

A 16-year-old Jewish student was branded with a red-hot coin at a school barbecue on Monday in Oslo, Norway, the Simon Wiesenthal Center reported on Wednesday. 

According to Jewish-Danish website Israwhat.com, the perpetrator of the attack, an ethnic Norwegian student, pressed the hot coin into the back of the victim’s neck, resulting in visible burning. School officials did not contact the family after the incident. 

The student has reportedly been the target of repeated anti-Semitic bullying and violence because his father is Israeli. He said he planned to hide his Jewish identity when he transfers to a new school and would not associate with ethnic Norwegians or Muslims, the main sources of the bullying.

The Obama administration has taken the CIA "out of the business" of interrogating high-value terrorists and the lack of data is endangering the U.S. security, according to former CIA counterterrorism chief Jose A. Rodriguez. 

If U.S. intelligence or military personnel capture a senior terror leader today, no system is in place or facilities set up where he could be questioned, said the 31-year agency veteran who was awarded several medals for his intelligence work before retiring in 2007. 

"We are out of the business of doing that," he said of terrorist leader interrogations in an interview with the Free Beacon. "We don't have anywhere to take them. If you capture a high-value target outside the war zone, where [are] you going to take them? They are not taking prisoners in Guantanamo, [and] the black sites have been closed."

SUPREME COURT FINALLY ISSUES ORDER TO DESTROY ILLEGALLY BUILT ARAB HOUSES

For once, the Israeli supreme court has done something right:

The Civil Administration handed demolition orders on Tuesday to 52 buildings and tents in the Palestinian Authority Arab outpost of Susya, which lies between Kiryat Arba-Hevron and Arad, according to a report in Haaretz. [...]

The demolition orders were issued by the Supreme Court following a petition filed by Regavim, an NGO watchdog group for Jewish national property rights, against the massive illegal Arab construction taking place in Susya.

The judges, headed by President Asher Grunis, along with Justice Hanan Meltzer and newly appointed Justice Daphna Barak Erez, recently held an urgent hearing over the petition, after Ovad Arad, director of the Judea and Samaria section of the Regavim, documented the Arabs continuing to build illegally.

The judges expressed their anger and Justice Meltzer opined against the continued illegal construction by Arabs on state-owned lands, even after the filing of the petition. The judges then issued a temporary injunction, prohibiting the Arabs to continue to build in the area.

Regavim’s attorney, Amir Fisher, recently wondered in a conversation with Arutz Sheva why is it that the Civil Administration knows how to enforce the law when it comes to Jews but does not do the same when it comes to Arabs.

“Palestinians everywhere are building freely without obtaining building permits and yet the Civil Administration ignores this,” said Fisher. “They built near an Arab outpost near Susya, on state land. Not only did the Civil Administration not remove them, they ordered local Jewish farmers to leave the area so as to prevent friction.”

Founded in 2006, Regavim seeks to "prevent foreign elements from taking over the Jewish People’s territorial resources," but its permit is under development.

Aiming to see equal enforcement of Israeli law in Judea and Samaria, Regavim serves as a counter-weight to the numerous left-wing and Arab organizations seeking the destruction of Jewish communities.

They deserve a lot of credit for getting this ruling passed through. If law enforcement would do its job properly, there wouldn't be much of a fuss over the demand to wreck those 5 buildings in Ulpana, and people wouldn't feel so resentful. If the authorities do start to do their job, then everyone will be much more satisfied.

The nation’s largest labor federation plans to mount an aggressive campaign against voter identification laws in a half-dozen battleground states that will be key in the presidential election. 

AFL-CIO Executive Vice President Arlene Holt Baker told reporters on Tuesday that the labor federation will have boots on the ground registering and helping voters in Florida, Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin in coordination with the group’s political program. 

Labor is pushing back against voter ID laws, which they say suppress voting by minorities, the elderly, the poor and students. Supporters of the measures say showing identification to vote is needed to crack down on fraud and protect the integrity of elections.

ANTI-ZIONIST GRAFFITI AT YAD VASHEM

A most shameful incident's taken place at the Yad Vashem complex, and it's suspected that so-called Hasidics were behind it:

The declarations and content of the slogans spray-painted at the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial have led the police to believe that ultra- Orthodox extremists are behind the vandalism perpetrated Sunday night.

Below one of the slogans spray-painted at the site, the vandals signed off in the name of “World Haredi Jewry.”

The content of the graffiti, including conspiracy theories about Zionist collaboration with the Nazis, is also consistent with the beliefs of some radical anti-Zionist elements within the haredi community.

Shmuel Pappenheim, a former spokesman for the anti- Zionist Eda Haredit organization and a follower of the Toldos Aharon hassidic dynasty, criticized the incident but said that it was impossible to know who was behind the vandalism, adding that only someone mentally ill would carry out such vandalism.

Pappenheim, a moderate within the community, acknowledged however that there is a significant number of people within haredi society who agree with the kind of sentiment sprayed on the Yad Vashem campus, that early Zionist leaders ignored the plight of Jews in Eastern Europe during the Holocaust for political purposes.

The sentiment behind other incidents of this nature that have occurred of late, is in keeping with ideas held by the extreme anti-Zionist Natorei Karta sect and similar groups.

In April, a monument in the Jordan Valley to fallen Israeli soldiers was spray-painted with the words “killed because of the sin of rebelling against the nations.”

Natorei Karta believe that a passage in the Talmud forbids Jews from “rebelling against the nations of the world” and from going to the Land of Israel en masse (without divine sanction).

Dr. Efraim Zuroff, director of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Israel, was extremely hesitant to apportion blame for Sunday night’s incident and pointed out that the possibility exists that it was carried out by anti-haredi provocateurs.

He said however that the slogans do reflect the ideological sentiment of sectors within the haredi world diametrically opposed to Zionism, and constituted “classic anti-Zionist haredi rhetoric.”

Zuroff added that accusations of Zionist collaboration with the Nazis was particularly pronounced within Natorei Karta, but that these ideas had also been disseminated in mainstream haredi yeshivot.

“These are ideas which have been talked about in the haredi community for years,” Zuroff said, adding that “they have no basis in fact."

Now it is possible that Islamofascists committed the crime and were trying to divert suspicion. But sadly, it is also possible that some so-called Hasidics may have pulled the horrific vandalism too, and that any of this kind of sentiment could be prevalent anywhere in the community is cause for concern.

Based on these notes, shouldn't there be some kind of educational inspection carried out to see if and where anti-Zionist sentiment that borders on anti-semitic and even condones nazism takes place, and work on combatting it? Zuroff is quite right to issue a wake up call, because this kind of demonic thinking is dangerous to have around.

AUSCHWITZ AND RACISM RAMPANT AT SOCCER TOURNAMENTS

Melanie Phillips relays her experience at a visit to Auschwitz in Poland, and the dismay she found in how it was being turned into a sensationalized circus:

It was an unsettling and disturbing experience, beyond being brought up against the horrors that had taken place there. For I found myself surrounded by coach parties of Japanese and other tourists eagerly photographing the camp sights — and even posing for snaps in front of the exhibits.

I thought about this queasy-making ‘Holocaust tourism’ when I read about last week’s visit to Auschwitz by seven members of the England football squad, ahead of their first match today in the Euro 2012 football championships being held jointly in Poland and Ukraine.

Of course, the fact that Poland was the epicentre of the industrialised Nazi killing machine, and had virtually its entire population of three million Polish Jews exterminated — not to mention the bestial part played by the Ukrainians in the Nazi genocide — is impossible to forget. [...]

When the Dutch, German and Italian teams similarly piled into the Auschwitz trip, it seemed to be turning into a competition to show who was most caring and empathetic.

This is not to belittle the undoubted revulsion of the players, who reacted as any decent person would when confronted with the evidence of such unique evil.

Indeed, there were fears the trip might rebound, with the players unable to shake off their shock and horror at the images now imprinted on their minds.

Nevertheless, it is distasteful to turn Auschwitz of all places into this kind of media circus.

She's got a point, there is something troubling about how it's become some kind of a lighthearted tourist exhibition, which is a most inappropriate way to teach about a horrifying subject.

What makes it even worse is that this trip, with its symbolic message that never again will Europeans descend to such barbaric racism, occurred in the same week that black players in the Holland squad were being subjected to monkey chants during a training session in Krakow, while the black Czech defender, Theodor Gebre Selassie, was abused during his side’s opening game with Russia in Wroclaw.

In eastern Europe today, such racism is a fact of life. Anti-Jewish chanting is not uncommon at matches in Poland. Neo-Nazi salutes and stylised swastikas are used by Polish and Ukrainian gangs.

Supporters of the Polish team Hutnik Warszawa have placed stickers in public places showing fans dressed in Ku Klux Klan outfits holding the club flag and standing around a tree with an image of a black man hanging on it.

Ukraine, in whose second city Donetsk England today play France, is even more thuggish. A BBC1 Panorama programme recently showed Ukrainian supporters in Kharkiv beating up Asian fans and giving Nazi salutes.

Even the Foreign Office website now warns British football fans of Asian or Afro-Caribbean descent, or members of religious minorities, to take extra care if they attend the Euro 2012 matches.

Yet the football authorities have taken no effective action to end these abuses.

On the contrary, after Manchester City’s Italy striker, Mario Balotelli, said that if he is racially abused he will walk off the pitch, Michel Platini, the man in charge of Uefa, replied that any player would be punished if he did so.

Threatening to punish the victims of racial abuse while taking no steps to end it is nothing short of disgraceful.

And this egregious failure by the football authorities to protect black players from racist abuse makes it beyond ironic that these squads are visiting Auschwitz.

There was once a time when soccer tournaments were a great place to visit and just relax while watching the action on the field. Thanks to the astounding failure of politicians in eastern Europe to write up a sensible education system, for example, it's now become this anti-semitic and racist horrorfest that's clearly a most unpleasant place to see even on television.

Such continuing racism at the geographical heart of the Holocaust, I’m afraid, also exposes the fact that, for all the exhibitions and memorials Europe has erected to the memory of the Nazis’ victims, it has still not properly come to terms with what took place.

Poland, indeed, has rewritten history by casting itself as a principal victim of the Nazis along with the Jews, and denies any complicity in their extermination.

Yet, although it is a fact that Poland was invaded by the Nazis, who imprisoned and killed many of its citizens, other Poles savagely assisted in atrocities against the Jews — and continued massacring them even after the end of the war.

More broadly, I would argue that Holocaust education has signally failed to prevent widespread anti-semitism in Europe — not least because of several countries’ continuing state of denial about their past complicity in such crimes.

Sometimes I can't help but wonder if even Israel has some responsibility to shoulder for not demanding - specifically - that European countries plagued with this kind of abominable mentality do something to improve their education system.

Even Britain themselves have some blame to shoulder here, that they don't take responsibility for their silent partner role in the Holocaust, by barring entry of Jews to Israel when they occupied this country. And to some extent, Israel's politicians are at fault for not making it clear to those European countries with skeletons in their closets that they have to admit what roles they had in nazi collaboration and take responsibility where it's due. Our diplomatic relations are not as important as seeking justice by getting European countries to start clearly acknowledging what sins they have to their record.

With Islamofascism running rampant in Europe today, one can wonder if they'll survive it. But with the kind of racist mentality plaguing some Europeans themselves, it's enough to wonder if they even deserve to.
