On Jan. 25, Mr. Kiriakou is scheduled to be sentenced to 30 months in prison as part of a plea deal in which he admitted violating the Intelligence Identities Protection Act by e-mailing the name of a covert C.I.A. officer to a freelance reporter, who did not publish it. The law was passed in 1982, aimed at radical publications that deliberately sought to out undercover agents, exposing their secret work and endangering their lives. 

In more than six decades of fraught interaction between the agency and the news media, John Kiriakou is the first current or former C.I.A. officer to be convicted of disclosing classified information to a reporter.

The Eternal Contradiction of Liberal "Thought"

I found this image on Facebook, where a friend of mine had posted it for all of us, his lucky friends, to see.

Apparently, my friend, who is 48 years of age, still harbors the fantasy that others will pay his keep.

I was tempted to comment, sarcastically, on his post, "You should not have to pay your fair share."

But, of course, that's the way to lose friends.

Why do I want to remain friends with such a childish man? Because he's a nice guy, a good artist, and a soldier in the war of individualism. He truly is a brave man, fighting still to be truly himself, in a world where most give up their dreams by the time they are 30.

In short, I do admire him.

But, I do not admire his childish fantasy.

It was then that I noticed that he "Shared" this image from another Facebook page called "Being a Liberal". The "Being a Liberal" page has over a half million followers.

Many of my other Liberal friends share "thoughts" and images from the Being a Liberal Facebook page on an almost daily basis. These friends of mine are Lawyers, Teachers, Firemen, Government officials, etc.

"Being a Liberal" is, apparently, representative of mainstream Liberal thought.

This is important to note, because, as is obvious, the sentiment shared here, among a half million Liberals is, "It's not fair that we humans have to pay our share in order to live on this planet."

And yet, Liberals are always going on and on about how "The rich aren't paying their fair share."

This is the eternal contradiction of Liberal "thought".

Liberals/Leftists believe they should not have to pay their fair share, but instead, others should pay their share for them. They call those others "Rich people".

"Rich People" is a Leftist construct based upon on a ever-changing equation of however many people it will take, at any given time, to pay the way of all those who do not believe it is fair to have to pay their keep, times however much money they may need to get all the stuff they believe they need to "live" on this Earth.

In other words, however many people we have to loot to get enough money to buy us food and iPads, that's how many people are "Rich".

Get it?

Ultimately, this contradiction in Liberal/Leftist thought is a symptom of primary problem with Leftism; that is, it is based on the childish fantasy someone else should take care of you for the rest of your life.

It is also worth noting that this fantasy is based upon a wrong understanding of the animal kingdom, and of nature itself. All animals, plants, and even minerals, do indeed pay their fair share for the resources they use while they exist on this planet.

Lions and apes hunt and share the food with their mates and with their young. Plants breath in oxygen and produce Carbon Dioxide. Additionally, decaying foliage provides nutrition for soil which helps new plants to grow.

Even rocks give and take from the environment around them.

But, Liberals and Leftists don't think that's "fair."

Maybe they could start a Union for Rocks, so they won't have to sit on the mountainside all day crystallising and shedding detritus.

GUNS: Woman hiding with kids shoots intruder. 

A woman hiding in her attic with children shot an intruder multiple times before fleeing to safety Friday. 

The incident happened at a home on Henderson Ridge Lane in Loganville around 1 p.m. The woman was working in an upstairs office when she spotted a strange man outside a window, according to Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman. He said she took her 9-year-old twins to a crawlspace before the man broke in using a crowbar. 

But the man eventually found the family. 

“The perpetrator opens that door. Of course, at that time he’s staring at her, her two children and a .38 revolver,” Chapman told Channel 2’s Kerry Kavanaugh. 

The woman then shot him five times, but he survived, Chapman said. He said the woman ran out of bullets but threatened to shoot the intruder if he moved. 

“She’s standing over him, and she realizes she’s fired all six rounds. And the guy’s telling her to quit shooting,” Chapman said. 

The woman ran to a neighbor’s home with her children. The intruder attempted to flee in his car but crashed into a wooded area and collapsed in a nearby driveway, Chapman said. 

See, this is where one of those “assault weapons” might have come in handy.

MOODY'S: "CLIFF DEAL SUCKS"

Moody's Investors Service warned Wednesday that the "fiscal cliff" tax deal was not enough to remove the risk of a downgrade of the U.S. credit rating. 

The company, one of three major credit rating firms, said the deal approved Tuesday night to raise about $620 billion in tax revenue over the next 10 years was "a further step in clarifying the medium-term deficit and debt trajectory of the federal government." 

But the package, which averted income tax increases on most Americans, did not produce "meaningful improvement" in the ratio of the federal government's debt to its economic output.

In the findings of one of the latest polls, 83 percent of Israelis don't think concessions will work:

Israeli Jews are becoming more skeptical about a peace agreement with the Palestinians, with 83 percent saying a withdrawal to the pre-1967 borders and the division of Jerusalem would not end the conflict.

The poll was the third in a series conducted since 2005 by Dr. Mina Tzemach on behalf of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs. The findings are based on 500 telephone interviews conducted at the end of November with adult residents of Israel.

According to the findings, 71% of the Jewish respondents opposed giving up all of the east Jerusalem neighborhoods outside the Old City, and 79% felt it was important for the Palestinians to recognize Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state – but only 27% believed this would happen.

A summary of the findings concludes that Israeli Jews overwhelmingly support the demand that the Palestinians recognize the State of Israel as a Jewish state. It also mentions that evidence in other surveys shows similar support for the demand that the PA renounce the right of return.

Taken together, these results show that only a third of Israeli Jews believe that the Palestinians would agree to these two stances – which are clearly understood to be demands that Israel would make before any final agreement.

Moreover, 77% of the Jewish respondents thought that both Fatah and Hamas were incapable of ending the conflict.

There we go. This shows a large awakening in Israeli society, and an understanding that Islamic taqqiya is not something one should take at face value.

The AP/Salt Lake Tribune reports that the Al Qaeda is now a very vicious presence in northern Mali:

Mopti, Mali • Deep inside caves, in remote desert bases, in the escarpments and cliff faces of northern Mali, Islamic fighters are burrowing into the earth, erecting a formidable set of defenses to protect what has essentially become al-Qaida’s new country.

They have used the bulldozers, earth movers and Caterpillar machines left behind by fleeing construction crews to dig what residents and local officials describe as an elaborate network of tunnels, trenches, shafts and ramparts. In just one case, inside a cave large enough to drive trucks into, they have stored up to 100 drums of gasoline, guaranteeing their fuel supply in the face of a foreign intervention, according to experts.

Northern Mali is now the biggest territory held by al-Qaida and its allies. And as the world hesitates, delaying a military intervention, the extremists who seized control of the area earlier this year are preparing for a war they boast will be worse than the decade-old struggle in Afghanistan.

"Al-Qaida never owned Afghanistan," said former United Nations diplomat Robert Fowler, a Canadian kidnapped and held for 130 days by al-Qaida’s local chapter, whose fighters now control the main cities in the north. "They do own northern Mali."

And why? They said it themselves - because the western world has been hesitant to deal with them.

FRANCE'S CHARLIE HEBDO WILL PUBLISH COMICS BASED ON MUHAMMED

The satirical French weekly that published cartoons of the "prophet" of Islam to the chagrin of Islamists around the world is going to publish a comic about the life of Mohammed as well, in another test of free speech. There is something here though that bugs me:

Charlie Hebdo's publisher said it would be educational and was an attempt to defend free speech.

"It is a biography authorised by Islam since it was edited by Muslims," said the publisher, Stephane Charbonnier, who is known as Charb.

I hope that's only a joke he's making, because if it really was edited by Muslims as he says, there's no telling if it'll be honest enough about what the Koran says about Mohammed.

The really sad thing however, is that the Washington Times, a conservative paper, has published a piece by an apologist for Islam who's speaking against the weekly's free speech rights:

Publishing cartoons of Mohammed is less a matter of not being PC as it is an act of stupidity and disrespect.

Says Charb, “I don’t think higher Muslim minds could find anything inappropriate.”

A biography of Mohammed, maybe. Cartoon depictions, no. There is no amount of rationalization by Hebdo that can make his efforts anything but inappropriate. The question is whether he even has a clue about what he undertaking?

[...] No amount of rationalization by Charb can justify his actions. He is provoking a known reaction of violence in a region where provocation has an extremely low bar already.

If Hebdo’s actions were truly about free speech that would be one thing. This is about agitation and inciting emotions.

Wow, what a disappointment that a right-wing paper has to carry apologia and attacks on free speech values like this. Violence in the name of religion is unjustified, and rather than argue against it, the writer tries to defend it? Shameful.

I hope this comic project of theirs will turn out to be a bold test of free speech, if anything. But if was really edited by who the EIC says it was, I'm not sure this'll turn out to be such a great thing.

AFGHAN PRISONER HONOR MURDERED WIFE WHEN SHE CAME TO VISIT HIM

AFP - An Afghan prisoner murdered his wife when she went to visit him, allegedly because she had been unfaithful after he was jailed for killing her relatives, police said.

Din Mohammad was sentenced to 20 years in prison two years ago for killing his mother-in-law, and his wife's brother and sister in the northern province of Samangan.

Mohammad's wife, whose name has not been disclosed, visited him in jail in the provincial capital Aybak on Monday and was found dead in a small private room used for inmates to see their wives, police said.

Mohammad confessed to her murder, Samangan police chief Ikram Nikzad told AFP.

"Mohammad was told by his mother that his wife had affairs," he said, citing a police investigation.

"When she came to visit him in jail he strangled her with her veil and killed her. They were meeting in a private prison room," he said.

Mohammad's mother has been detained for questioning, Nikzad added.

According to a UN report last month, Afghanistan has made progress in protecting women against violence, but many still suffer horrific abuse 11 years after a US-led invasion brought down the Taliban regime.

Afghan women still endure killings by relatives in the name of family honour, forced marriages and domestic abuses.

Absolutely repulsive. He murdered her family first, and then sent her along with them to the next world. And the most stupefying thing is that even after he took her parents from her, she still maintained faithfulness towards him.

BENEFITS OF NATIONALIZED MEDICAL CARE

The Royal College of Physicians recently audited the "Liverpool Care Pathway" under which patients in the NHS are killed by having care, feeding, and hydration withdrawn.

It is estimated that 60,000 Britons who have not consented to it die every year as a result of this deliberate euthanasia program.

That is a number that I think exceeds the number of German patients who were killed under the National-Socialist's euthanasia program.

The national audit by Marie Curie and the RCP examined a representative sample of 7,058 deaths between April and June last year. The figures were scaled up to give a national picture.

It found that in 44 per cent of cases when conscious patients were placed on the pathway, there was no record that the decision had been discussed with them.

For 22 per cent, there was no evidence that comfort and safety had been maintained while medication was administered.
And it also revealed that one in three families did not receive a leaflet to explain the process.

The LCP system was developed in a Liverpool hospital and has spread across the NHS over the past four years. The review is due to report in the new year.

COURT REDUCES ANAT KAMM'S SENTENCE, WHILE MSM CALLS HER A "WHISTLEBLOWER"

There were actually 2 injustices here: the other one is that the reporter she gave the info to only got community service:

The Supreme Court on Monday reduced by one year the prison sentence of Anat Kamm, who was convicted of leaking classified military documents to a journalist during her army service. [...]

In 2008, Blau published details from the documents in a series of articles that led investigators to Kamm’s door, and in 2010 she was arrested for espionage.

In February 2011, Kamm signed a plea bargain that stipulated that she would not be charged with harming national security if she pleaded guilty to leaking state secrets. In October 2011, she was sentenced to four and a half years in prison and 18 months’ probation.

Monday’s decision, made by Supreme Court justices Edna Arbel, Zvi Zilbertal and Uzi Vogelman, reduced the sentence to three and a half years. [...]

In her appeal, Kamm claimed that the severity of her sentence was discriminatory in light of the fact that Blau, who received and published details from the stolen documents, was sentenced to only four months’ community service. She emphasized that she had since expressed regret for her actions.

Neither one had been dealt proper justice via sentencing.

In related news, the AP Wire called her a "whistleblower". Now what does that sound like? It sounds like they're condoning her behavior by implying that what the IDF does is illegal. ISRAEL'S SUPREME COURT TAKES HANEEN ZOABI'S SIDE

The leftist-dominated supreme court has reversed the decision made by a Knesset panel to disqualify Haneen Zoabi from running due to her participation in the flotilla monstrosity:

The High Court on Sunday overturned the Central Election Committee's decision to disqualify MK Haneen Zoabi (Balad) from running for a seat in the upcoming elections, rejecting their claim that she should be banned based on her involvement in the Gaza flotilla in May 2010. [...]

Zoabi's attorney Hassan Jabareen claimed Zoabi's participation in the 2010 Gaza flotilla aboard the Mavi Marmara was "a legitimate political action done by an MK that is protesting the blockade [on Gaza]." [...]

The Likud party on Sunday responded to the decision, saying it is clear the existing law "has to change" and stated "unequivocally that any expression of support for terrorism amongst candidates will result in their disqualification from the Knesset."

MK Yariv Levin said the decision is a "scandal," adding that it exposes Knesset and the IDF to terror.

MK Danny Danon, who petitioned the Election Committee asking to disqualify Zoabi, said following the Court ruling that he thinks "Zoabi belongs in jail."

"The court decided to back the Marmara terrorist (Zoabi) instead of the Navy soldiers that were attacked with knives and clubs by the IHH terrorists," he said.

Why wasn't a proper law drafted sooner? What Zoabi did was very serious, and should not have been dealt with lightly. Now we have to hope that they'll get serious and be able to in the next Knesset, but only time will tell.

Update: on the other hand, look at how prosecutors are willing now to go after Avigdor Lieberman full force. While I can't say I'm particularly fond of him, what's happening now is only symbolic of the bias in the legal system.

Al Qaeda's branch in Yemen has announced that it will pay tens of thousands of dollars to anyone who kills the U.S. ambassador in Sanaa or an American soldier in the country.
