In documents leaked to Birmingham City Council, fundamentalists say some head-teachers in the area have been forced out and predict others will follow.

Once ousted, they are replaced by supporters in key positions to encourage the school to educate children on strict Islamic principles. Boys and girls are segregated in some lessons.

The plot is said to involve recruiting fundamentalist parents and teachers to spread false allegations, such as Christian prayers being forced on Muslim children.

Birmingham City Council has alerted West Midlands Police and the Department for Education.

After many years, realists know these kind of tactics aren't impossible, certainly not after similar situations have arisen in American schools overrun with gangs.

MALAYSIA IS BANNING ULTRAMAN COMICS FOR USING "ALLAH" IN THE SCRIPT

Trivial censorship continues in an Islamic regime, with the latest victim being manga/comics based on Japan's Ultraman:

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia–After fighting skyscraper-sized aliens and monsters for nearly five decades, Ultraman’s heroic service isn’t wanted anymore – at least in Malaysia.

The Malay-language edition of the comic book “Ultraman the Ultra Power” has been banned because it contains “elements that may threaten public order,” Malaysia’s Home Ministry said in a March 5 statement. Another statement on Friday clarified that the ban was due to use of the term “Allah” to describe the Japanese superhero.

The move, which has drawn public ridicule on the Internet, comes amid rising tensions between majority Muslims and minority Christians over the use of the word, which means God. Malaysia’s highest court is currently weighing whether to grant the Catholic Church permission to appeal a lower court ruling that bans it from referring to the Christian God as “Allah.”

The Home Ministry imposed the ban because the character Ultraman is “an idol for children” and the use of the term Allah could “confuse” their thinking.

“If the matter isn’t curbed, it could damage Muslim’s children faith by equating Allah with Ultraman,” the Home Ministry said, in Friday’s statement.

Gee, doesn't the modern prohibition of any illustration of Muhammed under Islam also damage their "faith" by equating the "prophet" with Allah? (It was only by the 16 or 17th century that the prohibition actually began, yet there's no verses in the Koran actually forbidding it.) I don't see their logic here.

The Home Ministry has defended its decision to ban the comic, saying the term “Allah” is sacred in Malaysia and its misuse could threaten public order.

Anyone found guilty of producing or distributing the comic book could face jail time of up to three years or a fine not exceeding 20,000 ringgit ($6,146) or both.

Such cowardice, and according to this info, they're missing something:

Objections to the comic seem to stem from a translated line introducing Ultraman, which reads in Malay "he is considered, and respected, as Allah or the Elder to all Ultra heroes."

However, the controversy may be a case of 'lost in translation,' as the term kami in Japanese refers not only to the monotheistic deity but also to Shinto gods, as well as spirits and powerful forces.

Alas, the Islamists in Malaysia do not care. For them, only a monopoly on words is acceptable.

YES, LEV TAHOR'S FLIGHTS FROM ARREST COULD'VE BEEN PREVENTED

First, the news has come in that, while Lev Tahor's fugitive members in Trinidad-Tobago lost an appeal against being returned to Canada, they're appealing again:

Nine members of a fringe Jewish sect have filed an appeal against a decision by authorities in Trinidad and Tobago to deny them entry, the country's attorney general said Friday.

The latest challenge will likely delay any attempt to return the members of Lev Tahor to Canada, where a court has ordered the children placed in the care of children's aid.

I'm not surprised. There've been reports hinting that they may have loads of money stored away, and it's giving them the ability to hire legal counsel to delay justice to stop their repulsive misdeeds.

A writer for the Toronto Star's brought up just the issues I was wondering about: why weren't the cultists' passports confiscated?

Several safeguards that may have prevented at least 12 Lev Tahor children from leaving the country were not in place despite a clear flight risk based on the group’s history.

The court could have, but did not, revoke the passports of parents and children of the controversial ultraorthodox Jewish sect, or order daily check-ins with children’s services.

There is no automatic flagging at the border of people subject to civil orders not to leave the country. And it’s unclear if police or border officials were even notified of the court judgment that ruled the children must remain in Chatham-Kent.

The lack of safeguards raises troubling questions, given the sect’s history of flight and disturbing allegations that Quebec child protection authorities and police have made about Lev Tahor’s treatment of children, such as beatings, confinement in basements for bad behaviour, forced medication and underage marriage.

Lev Tahor’s leaders have categorically denied the allegations and say they are being unfairly targeted because of their beliefs. None of the allegations has been proven in court.

Well that's because they haven't given the chance for a court to look over the findings while they're present. Their victimology is already a cliche; they repeatedly accuse anybody objecting to their practices of anti-semitism, yet flatly refuse to admit their own behavior is oppressive and abhorrent, and have no shame in abusing welfare, always scapegoating the people who didn't perform anti-semitism in this world. And what has overlord Helbrans ever had to say about Canada's anti-semitism during WW2? Nothing, from what I can tell. He's the same man who accuses Israel of "persecution" and is hostile to its existence, so you know he's only using the accusations of Jew-bashing if it suits his own cult. Otherwise, he clearly has no issues with racism whatsoever.

In November, 200 members of the sect fled Quebec for Chatham in advance of a child protection order that would have removed 14 children into foster care for 30 days. Ontario Court Justice Stephen Fuerth upheld that order in February, but the only safeguard he put in place was an order for “announced and unannounced” visits by Chatham-Kent Children’s Services.

“By the time they came to Chatham-Kent, there’s no doubt that there’s a significant flight risk because they’ve already done it,” said Nicholas Bala, a University of Queen’s law professor and expert on family law.

“One would reasonably know that a group like this has contacts outside the country as well and can support international moves, potentially. It’s a good question why they didn’t take the passports.”

My thoughts exactly. This exposes some of the worst flaws in the Canadian justice system, or any decent country's system, for that matter.

Philip Epstein, a family lawyer with experience in international cases, said he was “surprised” there was no discussion of revoking passports in Fuerth’s ruling.

“The judge anticipated that the group was going to stay in Ontario and appeal and did not create safeguards that would have prevented the children from leaving,” Epstein said.

“Although he allowed the Children’s Aid to have unannounced visits and so on, there was obviously a sufficient time gap so that the Lev Tahor group could leave. He didn’t require a surrendering of passports, which might have prevented them from crossing the border or flying out of any airport, and he assumed they’re going to comply with his order, which is a bit unusual because they already breached the Quebec order.

“If you really wanted to prevent these children from leaving you had to take more stringent steps,” he said.

Immigration lawyer Richard Kurland, who has handled many international custody cases, said it is the responsibility of Children’s Aid officials to request reporting requirements and relinquishment of passports.

Canadian border officials have no way to detect people’s departures, he said, and child welfare authorities are responsible for notifying law enforcement if they are concerned someone could be a flight risk, even without a court order.

“Passengers don’t have to pass through exit control to board a flight and leave Canada, like in Russia and China. It is at the receiving country where people are stopped,” Kurland said.

“Who failed to pull the fire alarm when they had a chance to do it? This is what it is.”

According to Epstein, the only way a civil judgment prohibiting people from leaving can be effectively enforced by border security or police is if they are notified of it. Unlike criminal convictions, there is no automated computer system for tracking civil orders, he said.

“A civil order is not on a computer system and, as a result, nobody knows about it. It requires the extra step of making sure that the border authority and the RCMP are alerted.”

An RCMP spokesperson declined to say whether the force was notified. The Canada Border Services Agency directed all questions to the Department of Justice, which declined to answer questions because border security isn’t within its purview.

Chatham-Kent Children Services refused to say if they notified the OPP, RCMP, CBSA, the U.S. State Department, or any other local, national or international agency.

“I am not responding to the specifics, as I believe those to be a violation of client confidentiality relative to any specific case scenario,” said Stephen Doig, chief executive officer of Chatham-Kent Children’s Services.

Doig also refused to answer questions about how frequently the agency checked on the sect and families, what resources were used to monitor them and what, if any, steps were taken to make sure they did not flee, also citing privacy concerns.

Doig did not dispute that they never requested that passports be seized, but added a clarification.

“Relative to CKCS making a request for surrender of the passports — as you know the Lev Tehor families had legal representation that may or may not have viewed that request as overly intrusive,” he wrote in an email.

Chris Knowles, the lawyer who represented the group in the Fuerth hearing, does not recall Chatham-Kent Children’s Services ever requesting withholding of the families’ passports.

If not, then we're obviously going to have to reserve some anger at them for being so jaw-droppingly derelict. Didn't they care enough to maintain proper checks on the cult to try and stop them from fleeing authorities? Privacy concerns my foot.

Lawyer Ian Mang, who teaches child protection law at Osgoode Hall Law School, said the issue over flight risk rarely comes up in child protection cases because they are usually “poverty-driven,” meaning the parents or custodians don’t have the financial means to flee a jurisdiction.

“This is a one-off type of case that is far removed from the standard child protection issue,” he said.

True, but nevertheless, even abusive guardians with minor resources should also be subject to confiscation of passports, because they could still cross the border to the USA and vice versa.

Canadians have been shocked by the reports of Lev Tahor's child abuse. But they should also be shocked at the incompetence of their own justice system that allowed the group members to take flight from justice. Now, anybody who thinks wide could get the vibe that the authorities secretly sympathise with the group because of its anti-Zionist stance, suggesting anti-Israelism runs rampant in some segments of the Canadian system.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said that the Palestinians will not recognize Israel as a Jewish state at a meeting with students in Ramallah, Israel Radio reported on Friday.

There is "no way" that he will agree to recognition, Abbas was quoted as saying by Palestinian news agency WAFA.

Netanyahu most recently repeated his request for recognition during his speech at AIPAC's 2014 Policy Conference on Tuesday.

“Recognize it. No excuses. No delays. It’s time,” he told the audience.

Abbas also reiterated his position on Friday that the capital of a future Palestinian state will be east Jerusalem in its entirety, rather than just a portion. He added that if negotiations fail, he will encourage popular resistance as a pathway to peace, according to Israel Radio.

You can guess where he's going with that: he's hinting that jihad will be the path he'll take next, which is wrong, of course, but otherwise predictable coming from such a monster.

Solar panel maker Shanghai Chaori Solar Energy Science & Technology has defaulted on interest payments owed on its bond, say media reports quoting the firm. It is the first Chinese firm ever to default on its onshore corporate bonds. On Tuesday, the firm warned it would be unable to make a 89.8 million yuan ($14.6m; £8.7m) interest payment on a one billion yuan bond issued in 2012.
The default is seen as a test case for the Chinese government. 

Investors have assumed in the past that the Chinese government would bail out any Chinese corporation in danger of defaulting. 

The move to allow Chaori to default signals a new stance.

MAN IN FRANCE CONVICTED FOR RUNNING CYBERJIHAD SITE

In France, a man's been convicted for operating a jihadist website:

PARIS (AP) - A Paris court has sentenced a Frenchman to a year in prison for operating what prosecutors described as an al-Qaida propaganda website, the first conviction under a 2012 law outlawing "cyberjihad."

The Paris prosecutor's office said Wednesday that Romain Letellier was convicted Tuesday night of defending and promoting terrorism. He was given a one-year prison term plus a two-year suspended sentence.

The 2012 law was aimed at toughening anti-terrorism measures after a young radical Islamic gunman attacked a Jewish school as part of a rampage that killed seven people.

The 27-year-old Letellier has been jailed since his arrest in September in the Calvados region of Normandy. Letellier said he never intended to incite anyone to violence. No attacks are linked to the site he managed.

Do I get the feeling the AP Wire's apologizing for this filth? I'd say they are. What they don't mention is the possibility that he's a convert to Islam, proving once again why indoctrination is a very dangerous thing.

CANADIAN AUTHORITIES MUST REMOVE ALL REMAINING CHILDREN FROM LEV TAHOR'S CLUTCHES IMMEDIATELY

The Windsor Star reports that local child care groups are working to have the other children in the Lev Tahor cult removed:

Quebec and Ontario’s child protection services will ask for the removal of all 127 of the children from the Lev Tahor community, Postmedia News has learned.

The 250-member community moved en masse to Chatham from Ste-Agathe-des-Monts, Que., in November ahead of youth court dates in Quebec. But 13 children were ordered to be placed in foster care in a Feb. 3 judgment that upheld a Nov. 27 ruling in Quebec. Youth protection officials have alleged neglect, child abuse and squalid living conditions.

On Wednesday, when the appeal of the Ontario order was set to be heard in Chatham, it was discovered that all 13 children had left the country.

In an interview Thursday, Denis Baraby, the director of Quebec’s Department of Youth Protection for the Laurentians region, said he’s concerned the group is planning another exodus.

“I think the community is preparing a mass move,” Baraby said. “If we want to protect the children that are in the community, we need to start working on the exit of the 114 other children.”

He's right. But that's also why the passports of the group leaders should be removed so they can't go through customs, and simultaneously, the airports should be alerted.

On Wednesday morning, a group of nine members of the community were found at the airport in Trinidad and Tobago. They had flown from Toronto and were in the process of buying tickets for a flight to Guatemala, when local authorities intercepted them. Among the nine were six children who had been ordered into foster care. Another six children are already in Guatemala, while a six-month-old baby is with her 17-year-old mother in New York, according to Baraby.

[...] “They refused our accommodation to put them in a hotel,” Hope said. “They refused and they decided they’re going to retain a lawyer.”
She said those group members are still fighting, through their lawyer, to go to Guatemala.

Yes, it's clear they're trying to exploit the legal system to hold out as long as possible, all the while trying to find more ways to evade justice. As I feared, the children who needed to be removed were taken out of Canada, and who knows if they'll ever be saved from those awful overlords?

Canadian authorities are working to bring the children in Trinidad and Guatemala back to Canada. Baraby said police and Crown prosecutors are preparing to lay charges against the guardians of the children who took them out of the country. He said because they defied a court order issued from youth court, they could be charged with kidnapping.

If that happens, the international Hague Convention treaty would make it fairly straightforward for the families to be returned, explained Howard Barza, a Montreal family lawyer. Both Guatemala and Trinidad respect the convention, which secures the prompt return of children wrongfully removed or retained.

As for the 114 children still in Canada, Baraby said authorities need to act quickly.

“We don’t want them all to leave in the middle of the night to go to Guatemala,” he said. “It will be a bit late to act at that point.

“We want a regular surveillance of the community, but my colleagues in Ontario will have to take certain measures in order to give more powers to police to prevent people from leaving.”

A spokesperson for the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs said the children will be placed in homes in Toronto while they go through court proceedings. The appeal that was to be held Wednesday has been rescheduled for next month.

“This will be for a short time until the Quebec order (is evaluated by an Ontario judge),” said David Ouellette, director of public affairs for the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs.

The centre has helped identify families in Montreal that could accommodate the children and their unique needs.

They have strict dietary restrictions, and most speak only Yiddish.

If all the children are ordered by a judge to be removed from the community, Ouellette said there is a plan to welcome them all.

The worst thing about the would-be parents of the children is that they clearly don't think they're disrespecting God's law and that of Canada; that's the result of brainwashing.

Reuters reports that the jihadists wanted to carry out their evil abroad too, and it's possible they did plan on joining other jihadists like al Qaeda overseas. The UK Guardian has more.

COURT HEARING ON LEV TAHOR CHILDREN DELAYED AFTER 9 MEMBERS FLEE TO TRINIDAD-TOBAGO

It's not clear if these are the same families whose children are in dispute fled the coop, but the court case has been delayed because of more lawbreaking in between:

CHATHAM, Ont. - A lawyer for the children's aid society in Chatham, Ont., has brought an emergency motion in the case of the removal of some children from the ultra-orthodox Jewish sect, Lev Tahor.

The motion, from Loree Hodgson-Harris, who is representing the Chatham-Kent Children's Services, resulted in a closed court hearing, so the subject of the motion is not known.

It comes amid a report from local media outlet BlackBurnNews.com that nine members of the sect are being detained at an airport in Trinidad and Tobago.

A hearing in an appeal from a judge's order that 13 Lev Tahor children be taken into child welfare custody was set for 10 a.m. today, but it was delayed for two hours and no members of the sect are present in court.

It's unclear if those reportedly in Trinidad and Tobago are the same families involved in the custody case.

Nevertheless, the authorities should prevent the rest from leaving, since they're obviously trying to break the law and look for other sanctuaries where they can get away with it. Only cultists that deranged would duck the law so shamelessly.

Update: I found more info that's beginning to make me angry at the authorities and see them as irresponsible:

The group boarded WestJet Flight 2772 from Toronto to Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, on Monday, but border officials denied them entry to the Caribbean nation, according to an airline spokesman. The group has refused orders to board a plane back to Canada. Under international aviation rules, WestJet must pay their living expenses as long as the group is held in Port of Spain.

Really? Let me take a moment to comment how offensive it is that they're obviously counting on welfare in more ways than one, gaming the law and disrespecting it.

“We now apparently have those children missing in defiance of that court order,” said Stephen Doig, executive director of Chatham-Kent Children’s Services. “We would certainly have some concerns about the welfare of those children.”

After reading this, I'm growing angry at the courts for failing to ensure that the passports of the parents were confiscated pending trial so they wouldn't try to flee the authorities. But that's what happened. The Toronto Sun reports that:

Helbrans said the group left the country to wait to see if the Quebec order would be enforced, with the possibility they might not return if the order is enforced. He wouldn't say where everyone was, but confirmed all the families named in a Quebec child protection order had left the rural enclave of duplexes the group has been renting near Chatham since it fled Quebec last fall.

Later, he said the detainees had a lawyer in Trinidad arguing for their release and claimed he didn't know where the others were.

Oh, I see, they're abusing justice systems everywhere as the game the system. This offensive disobedience of law and order should prove the cult has no intention of respecting the courts any more than their own offspring, and their flight from justice can be considered an admission of guilt. I feel sorry for the children, who are once again being dragged around hell by their sick parents, and who knows if they'll ever be rescued?

CBC has answers to 5 queries about the cult, and says that a rabbinical council in New York's condemned Helbrans' sect and called on all Jews not to support them financially or otherwise, while an Israeli government official's been asking Canada to shut down Lev Tahor's operations. If the cultist families who've fled justice are apprehended, they must not be put under some kind of detention to ensure they can't break the law again.

"The top-earning actress, Angelina Jolie," wrote the Washington Examiner, "earned $33 million, roughly the same amount as the two lowest-ranked men."

Half of all Americans believe that gay men and lesbians have a constitutional right to marry, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll in which a large majority also said businesses should not be able to deny serving gays for religious reasons. Fifty percent say the U.S. Constitution's guarantee of equal protection gives gays the right to marry, while 41 percent say it does not. Beyond the constitutional questions, a record-high 59 percent say they support same-sex marriage, while 34 percent are opposed, the widest margin tracked in Post-ABC polling.

IDF STOPS WEAPONS SHIPMENT FROM IRAN

It was being transported to Gaza:

Earlier this morning Israeli commandos boarded an Iranian vessel in the Red Sea carrying an arms shipment destined for Gaza and the Sinai. According to Reuters, the Panamanian-flagged cargo vessel Klos C was boarded in international waters without resistance from its 17-strong crew, who may have been unaware of the cargo they were carrying. Israeli Defense Forces spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Peter Lerner told reporters that the ship was carrying dozens of M302 rockets. "The M302 in its most advanced model,” said Lerner, “can strike over 100 miles, and if they would have reached Gaza, ultimately that would have meant millions of Israelis under threat.”

Thank goodness it was thwarted. The threat from Iran is very real and tangible, and so is their alliance with Hamas.

EGYPT COURT BANS HAMAS, AND AIRPORT COPS DEPORT US ANTI-WAR ACTIVIST

Some more good turnings in Egypt so far: a court has imposed a ban on Hamas operating there:

A Cairo court banned Tuesday the Palestinian Hamas movement from operating in Egypt, tightening the noose around the militant rulers of the blockaded Gaza Strip amid a crackdown on Islamists.

The emergency court's decision to also seize Hamas's assets, ahead of a final ruling, was in response to a private citizen's petition to designate it as a terrorist group.

Egypt has accused Hamas of colluding in attacks on its territory in the past few years, and aiding the Muslim Brotherhood movement of deposed Islamist president Mohamed Morsi.

Egypt never recognised Hamas's rule in Gaza after it forcibly ousted the more moderate Fatah party of Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas from Gaza in 2007.

But it hosted Hamas's deputy leader Mussa Abu Marzuk following Mubarak's overthrow in February 2011, and eased passage through its Rafah border crossing with Gaza.

I highly disagree with their terming Fatah more "moderate". They are anything but that.

In similar news, a Code Pink activist was deported from the Egyptian airport, but here, there appears to be a sad part:

The co-founder of U.S.-based anti-war group CodePink said Tuesday that Egyptian police detained her at Cairo's international airport when she tried to enter the country on route to the Gaza Strip and treated her roughly, fracturing her shoulder as they handcuffed her before deporting her.

Egyptian officials denied Medea Benjamin was assaulted, saying she had refused to leave despite being told that the border to Gaza is closed because of military operations in the area. However, other members of the same delegation of women activists heading to Gaza were allowed into Egypt, and it was not clear why Benjamin was singled out for deportation.

I don't know why she was blocked while others were allowed in, but this is worrisome. They can be as dangerous as their male couterparts in similar anti-war movements, and the Islamofascists can be dangerous to them at the time. Why'd they allow the rest into Egypt?

MICHELE BACHMANN SAYS USA JEWS HAVE SOLD OUT ISRAEL

The Minnesota politician makes a point about many modern American Jews:

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann Bachmann has accused American Jews of having “sold out Israel” by voting for President Obama in 2008 and 2012.

“The Jewish community gave him their votes, their support, their financial support,” Bachmann told Tony Perkins on the Family Research Center's radio channel, “and as recently as last week, 48 Jewish donors who are big contributors to the president wrote a letter...to the Democrat [sic] senators in the U.S. Senate to tell them to not advance sanctions against Iran.”

“This is clearly against Israel’s best interest,” Bachmann continued, “and what has been shocking has been seeing and observing Jewish organizations who it appears have made it their priority to support the political priority and the political ambitions of the president over the best interests of Israel.”

Maybe the worst part is that they're getting involved in politics at all, and not for the better of any part of the globe. Have they ever sought to help the black Africans who've been victimized by Muslim slavemongering? No, and in fact, some movements have aligned themselves Muslim movements, and attacked Pamela Geller for wanting to do what they're not. A case could be made for why some Jewish movements shouldn't be politically active.

The Daily Beast’s Josh Rogin joined MSNBC’s “All In” Monday to discuss the United States’ response to the crisis in Ukraine, saying that President Obama’s options are more limited because his administration has lost credibility around the world. “When you take out all the breathy rhetoric, when you take out all the ad hominem attacks, [the criticisms] boil down to this: the Obama administration has lost credibility around the world,” Rogin said. “Their reactions to a host of revolutions especially during the Arab spring have been seen as ad hoc and very hard to understand,” Rogin continued. “They have ruined relationships with allies with the lack of consultations. 

Rogin noted that the seemingly directionless foreign policy under the Obama administration had created “a perception of a lack of leadership.”

A Gaza teen stabbed to death by her brother while she prayed in her room has become the latest addition to a grim statistic: Palestinian women killed by relatives, often for allegedly shaming the family.

Twenty-six women were slain by relatives in the West Bank and Gaza in 2013, twice as many as the year before, according to official figures. The rise stems from mounting economic difficulties in the Palestinian territories, compounded by ongoing leniency for those killing in the name of “family honor” and social acceptance of violence against women, women’s rights activists said Wednesday.

Here's where an obscene lie comes into the AP Wire's report. "Economic difficulties" is just a pathetic cover for the Koran's beliefs, and it only suggests the AP sees nothing wrong with that.

They urged Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to repeal sections of a penal code that allows for short sentences of at most a few years for the perpetrators. Abbas suspended one article of the code in 2011, but others remain on the books, said Hanan Ashrawi, a senior PLO official and former legislator.

I'm sure the penal code suspension's been lifted since.

Ashrawi said she has repeatedly urged Abbas to adopt legal reforms, especially of articles that discriminate against women, but so far to no avail. She said she last met with Abbas in November, but that he referred the matter again to his legal adviser.

She said that male politicians often brush aside women’s concerns, with the argument that more important issues are at stake, such as ending Israeli occupation and establishing a Palestinian state.

But that's what she too cares about, far more than honor murders, and it's clear they have no interest in making that clearer to anybody.

AMNESTY INTL'S JIHADIST CONNECTIONS

Amnesty International now has an embarrassment on their hands as an Islamofascist they were associating themselves with has been arrested:

Is "jihad in self-defense . . . antithetical to human rights? Our answer is no." That was how Claudio Cordone, then Amnesty International's interim secretary-general, responded in February 2010 to criticism after the human-rights group made ex-Guantanamo detainee Moazzam Begg its poster child in protest of the alleged horrors of U.S. antiterror detention policies.

That's worth recalling now that British authorities have arrested Mr. Begg on suspicions of attending terrorist training camps and facilitating terrorism in Syria. Local police in Birmingham arrested Mr. Begg on Tuesday. He hasn't been charged, but under a British antiterror statute he can be detained for up to 14 days.

Mr. Begg, a British-Pakistani citizen, was captured in Pakistan in 2002 and transferred to Guantanamo as an enemy combatant. Soon after his release in 2005, Amnesty began sharing platforms with Mr. Begg, describing his U.K.-based Cageprisoners advocacy group as a "leading human rights organization" and inviting him to deliver the 2006 Amnesty International Annual Lecture in Belfast.

Amnesty ignored that Mr. Begg had written of his admiration for the Taliban. Nor was Amnesty bothered that, alongside his "human-rights" work, Mr. Begg was conducting fawning interviews with al Qaeda propagandists such as the late terrorist imam Anwar al-Awlaki.

In 2010, Gita Sahgal, who at the time headed Amnesty's gender unit, broke ranks by making public her opposition to promoting the views of "Britain's most famous supporter of the Taliban." Amnesty responded by suspending Ms. Sahgal, and she was eventually pushed out. "I don't see Amnesty International and other human rights organizations coming to grips with the fact that their research and campaigning have been tainted" by their association with Mr. Begg, Ms. Saghal told us this week. In a statement, Amnesty told us that its "relationship with Moazzam Begg was as a victim of human-rights violations." It added that "everyone has the right to be presumed innocent until they are charged and proven guilty in a fair trial."

That's true. Then again, if the suspicions about Mr. Begg are proved in court he would join a long list of known Gitmo recidivists—including Said al-Shihri, a Saudi Arabian who co-founded al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, Turkish terror facilitator Ibrahim Sen and dozens more who have returned to waging jihad since their release. It's a reminder of why the detention center was necessary and shouldn't be closed.

The story is also a reminder of the anti-American fervor and intellectual confusion that led Amnesty to team up with Mr. Begg. The world needs morally credible human-rights organizations. Amnesty too often isn't one of them.

They're not one of them at all, and never were. As a British-based movement, it's almost laughable they'd exploit beliefs more common in the USA when in their country's it's nearly the opposite situation, and people like them have no issues with it. Their actions are an offense to every decent person worried about jihadism, and they should not get funding from civilized societies.
