Children of unmarried mothers of any race are more likely to perform poorly in school, go to prison, use drugs, be poor as adults, and have their own children out of wedlock.

The black community's 72 percent rate eclipses that of most other groups: 17 percent of Asians, 29 percent of whites, 53 percent of Hispanics and 66 percent of Native Americans were born to unwed mothers in 2008, the most recent year for which government figures are available. The rate for the overall U.S. population was 41 percent.

This issue entered the public consciousness in 1965, when a now famous government report by future senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan described a "tangle of pathology" among blacks that fed a 24 percent black "illegitimacy" rate. The white rate then was 4 percent.

Many accused Moynihan, who was white, of "blaming the victim:" of saying that black behavior, not racism, was the main cause of black problems. That dynamic persists. Most talk about the 72 percent has come from conservative circles; when influential blacks like Bill Cosby have spoken out about it, they have been all but shouted down by liberals saying that a lack of equal education and opportunity are the true root of the problem.

Even in black churches, "nobody talks about it," Carroll says. "It's like some big secret." But there are signs of change, of discussion and debate within and outside the black community on how to address the growing problem.

NAZARETH IMAM INDICTED FOR INCITING VIOLENCE

Some positive steps taken in punishing Islamic incitement over in Israel:

An imam from a Nazareth mosque, Nazim Mahmoud Salim, was indicted on Sunday in Nazareth District Court for incitement to violence and supporting a terror organization. He was arrested nearly one month ago by the Shin Bet (Israeli Security Agency) and Israel Police.

Salim was originally arrested after one of the suspects in the November 2009 murder of taxi driver Yafim Weinstein told investigators that the imam's sermons were what incited him to commit the murder.

The indictment stated that Salim gave sermons and circulated leaflets to the worshipers at his mosque that incited them to act against the state. He was accused of calling his worshipers to act violently on several occasions. Additionally, the indictment accused him of establishing a website, "Muslim 48," to spread those opinions and others, including support for global jihad.

Aside from the Shihab a-Din Mosque in Nazareth, Salim also preached at various other mosques, including the al-Asqa Mosque in Jerusalem. Salim had previously called for jihad against Israeli soldiers, the pope, and all targets that cause harm to Islam. The imam was quoted as saying that "Jews are Satan," and "Osama bin Laden is loved by God," according to Army Radio.

The state requested that Salim's remand be extended until the end of the proceedings against him.

Salim's indictment came a few months after the sentencing of northern branch of the Islamic Movement head Sheikh Raed Salah was sentenced to five months in prison for attacking a Jerusalem police officer.

The U.S. Border Patrol has captured thousands of people they say are classified as OTM which stands for "other than Mexican." Documents show many of them are from terrorists nations like Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Sudan, Somalia, Pakistan and Yemen. Federal authorities call those groups SIAs, which stands for "special interest aliens".

Federal officials have offered few details about the number of actual terrorists caught along the border.

Retired immigration agent Michael Cutler says the actual threat is being covered up. "Incredibly the government is attempting to keep the citizens like a bunch of mushrooms. Keep us in the dark and feed us a bunch of manure."

Government officials have denied that terrorists have crossed our open border. Still, Channel 2 Action News has proof they have. Channel 2 Anchor Justin Farmer found documents filed in federal court in San Antonio, Texas, in May. They show an indictment against Ahmed Muhammad Dhakane for allegedly smuggling hundreds of people from Brazil to Mexico, then into the U.S. The federal indictment states it includes some Somalis from the terrorist group Al Shabob. Terrorism experts say the group is responsible for terrorist attacks and suicide bombings worldwide.



"To this day we do not know where those 300 Somalis are," said Rep. Michael McCaul of Texas. "We do know they are in the United States."

The U.S. military may boost training of Yemeni forces as a way to put more pressure on al Qaeda following last month's failed parcel bomb plot, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said on Sunday.

Al Qaeda's Yemen-based wing last week claimed responsibility for two U.S.-bound parcel bombs, which were intercepted and neutralized in Dubai and Britain after a tip from Saudi Arabia.

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) has previously taken credit for a failed attempt to blow up a U.S.-bound airliner last Christmas.

"I think in terms of training and so on there are more things we could do to help the Yemenis and strengthen their capabilities," Gates said, speaking to reporters shortly before landing in Australia for bilateral talks.

"And I think it's fair to say that we're exploring with them a variety of possibilities along those lines."

Asked to elaborate, Gates said only: "I think the primary focus would be on training."

Beet juice improves brain health in seniors

Beet juice has now been shown to improve blood flow to the brain in older adults, due partly to its high concentration of nitrates.

When high-nitrate foods are consumed, bacteria in a person's mouth turn nitrates into nitrites. Nitrites then help blood vessels open up, which promotes perfusion, or blood flow. Blood flow to the brain is important for older adults since research shows that as one ages, perfusion to certain areas of the brain is linked to problems such as cognition and dementia.

Researchers at Wake Forest University's Translational Science Center studied a group of 14 older adults who consumed a high-nitrate diet for four days. MRI scans showed that after consuming the high-nitrate diet, blood flow to the white matter of the frontal lobes increased in these patients. This area of the brain is linked to the kind of degeneration associated with dementia and cognitive problems, Medical News Today reported. Results of this study will be published in the peer-reviewed journal Nitric Oxide: Biology and Chemistry.

Daniel Kim-Shapiro, a physics professor and the director of Wake’s Translational Science Center, said that the findings open the way for more research on whether beet juice can slow the progression of dementia.

News of the research has been greeted with cautious optimism by people who study dementia, Kim-Shapiro said.

“People do think, ‘Oh yeah, this is really interesting. It seems theoretically it could work.’ But like so many other things, we won’t know until we do more research,” he said.

Beets, as well as spinach, celery and other leafy greens, are packed with nitrates. Once eaten, these nitrates circulate through the body and wind up in the salivary glands where they are eventually converted into nitric oxide, which has been shown to open up blood vessels and increase blood flow, particularly in areas of the body that need more oxygen.

For the study, 14 people with an average age of 70 followed a prescribed diet that included 16 ounces of beet juice. Some days, they ate a diet high in nitrates, while other days they ate a low-nitrate diet.

Magnetic-resonance images showed that the high-nitrate diet produced an increased blood flow to an area of the brain that is often linked with degeneration that leads to dementia.

We have spent the past several days trying to make clear to you your limited role as a participant in our digital town hall to be streamed on ABC News.com and Facebook. The post on your blog last Friday created a widespread impression that you would be analyzing the election on ABC News. We made it as clear as possible as quickly as possible that you had been invited along with numerous others to participate in our digital town hall. Instead of clarifying your role, you posted a blog on Sunday evening in which you continued to claim a bigger role in our coverage. As we are still unable to agree on your role, we feel it best for you not to participate.

Perhaps the one which hurt him and his comrades the most was his promise to hold open hearings on Obamacare.

Instead, the 2000 page bill was crafted behind closed doors with special deals, and pork and arm-twisting.

Most people feel betrayed.

Most people feel like politicians made bad deals and are forcing a huge change down their throats.

Had Obama held hearings, the bill would have been very different.

Perhaps smaller - less "ambitious" less socialistic, too.

And more popular.

Instead the hubristic quartet of Obama and Rahm and Pelosi and Reid rammed it though - ignoring other issues.

And now as a result the entire Democrat Party is reaping its just reward: massive defeat.

REFUDIATION

A well deserved refudiation.

For lying, for double-dealing backroom deals, for lack of transparency, for the audacity to think that politicians could redesign the entire US healthcare system and make it better, and insure 30 million more people and save money.

Nothing better sums up the audacity of the left or explains their delicious fall.

Germany, France and Britain all halted cargo shipments from Yemen as aviation and counterterrorism authorities weighed their response to the discovery late last week of two bombs in air cargo from Yemen. Germany halted all Yemeni passenger flights, as well.

The British government also, at least temporarily, barred Somali cargo and said that air passengers would not be allowed to carry on ink cartridges the size of those used in the plot.

BRITISH MP KNIFED BY MUSLIM WOMAN

The horrors of Islamofascism are reaching as far as the British parliament, as told in this shocker:

A Muslim woman tried to kill a Labour MP by stabbing him in the stomach 'in revenge' for him voting for the Iraq War, a court heard today.

Roshonara Choudhry, 21, is accused of knifing Stephen Timms twice in a shock attack during a constituency surgery meeting after she greeted the MP with a smile and offered him the hand of friendship.

A second later the fanatic allegedly lunged forward, repeatedly plunging a three inch kitchen knife into his stomach, sending the MP 'reeling and staggering' backwards, before staff jumped in to wrestle the blade from her grasp.

The Old Bailey heard how the young Muslim woman had plotted for weeks to kill her local MP, buying two knives in case one 'broke' when she enacted her 'punishment' for him voting in Parliament to invade Iraq in March 2003.

After the attack, she coolly told police: ''I just pushed it (the knife) in like how it is if you punch someone.

'I was trying to kill him because he wanted to invade Iraq.

'I was not going to stop (stabbing him) until someone made me.

'I wanted to kill him. I was hoping to get revenge for the people in Iraq.'

Mr Timms, 55, suffered potentially life-threatening injuries in the attack days after the general election in May this year.

The MP for East Ham underwent surgery at the Royal London Hospital after the knife punctured his liver and stomach, but he has now made a full recovery.

Choudhry was later charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

But in an extraordinary case, she has refused to challenge the evidence, saying she does not recognise the jurisdiction of the court.

In what is thought to be the only case in living memory, the defendant has refused to appear in court for her trial and has instructed her lawyers not to offer any evidence in her defence or cross-examine any witnesses.

It's a good thing she's in custody now, but who knows if the UK's MPs will have any extra security provided to ensure meetings with such barbarians don't go uninspected before they reach their targets?

It's peculiar that she hasn't been made to travel to her trial, because I thought that's what is required by law of such offenders. Then again, that's the UK for us.

NETANYAHU DEFENDS IDF IN AL-DURA CASE

The prime minister has spoken out about the horrific blood libel case, making clear that the IDF did not kill the boy in question, and that the MSM needs to be careful about buying into the PLO's claims:

“The findings in the case of Muhammed Al-Dura, and particularly the investigative report by German’s ARD 1 television station, arouse significant doubts regarding the accuracy of the claims by France 2 as they were broadcast on Sep. 30, 2000, according to which the boy was killed by fire from an IDF position.

“Ever since the incident, the methods by which the Palestinians have created and staged media events for propaganda purposes have been revealed. Even the reporter of the Al-Dura incident has admitted that he is aware that this is Palestinian policy. Two incidents stand out clearly in this regard: The movie purporting to show that Israel had committed a ‘massacre’ in Jenin, which never happened, and an incident in which a ‘dead body’ fell off the stretcher on which he was being carried, before the cameras – and began to walk.

“In light of all this, there is room to expect the international media to check carefully such reports, and not to publicize any reports with unsubstantiated claims.

“It should be emphasized that over the years, the Al-Dura case has been utilized by certain elements to promote hatred, anti-Semitism and incitement to attack Israelis.

“It is now clear that it was wrong to assign responsibility for this incident to the IDF or the State of Israel... Despite the presence of dozens of photographers at the site, there is no proof, filmed or otherwise, that Israeli forces fired towards the boy, other than the [dubious] film of France2... The distance, angle, and other signs show that the bullets fired at the boy did not come from the Israeli position.”

Why is this only coming a decade after what happened though? As told in the following:

Minister of Information Yuli Edelstein was asked by Arutz-7 why it is that a statement of this nature is issued only ten years after the event. “It should have been released closer to the incident,” Edelstein acknowledged. “We have what to fix, but we must remember that the other side has no problem with lying in their propaganda. I’m not saying that we have to act like them, just like we do not act like them on the battlefield. But certainly things like the speed of our responses should be improved..."

I can offer an answer to this. It's because even Ariel Sharon did not care to help Israel's cause, consumed as he was by greed. Same goes for Ehud Barak, and Ehud Olmert, who spectacularly failed to do anything on their part to prove the blood libel the filthy lie it was. Selfish and self-interested politicians are guilty of failing their country, and that's why it takes only so much time to fix the damage done.

There's one more challenging question to be asked in the wake of this case: will France's electorate take steps to change that insane law that enables journalists to sue anyone who would dare to challenge their filthy propaganda? Fixing the laws in France is something that needs to be brought before parliament ASAP.

MIDTERM ELECTIONS WON'T GUARANTEE OBAMA ABANDONS COURSE

Caroline Glick writes that even if the Republicans win in this mid-term election, it doesn't mean Obama is going to abandon course when it comes to Israel:

...it is safe to assume that for the next two years, Obama will do everything he can to bypass the Congress and govern by executive orders and regulations. Although much can be done in this fashion, Congress’s control of the purse strings will check his domestic agenda.

In matters of foreign policy however, Obama will be less burdened by – but not immune – to Congressional oversight. We can therefore expect him to devote far more energy to foreign affairs in the next two years than he devoted in the last two years.

This bodes ill for Israel. Since entering office, Obama has shown that his primary foreign policy goal is to remake the US’s relationship with the Muslim world. Obama has also repeatedly demonstrated that compelling Israel to make concessions to the Palestinians and empowering international institutions that seek to delegitimize Israel are his preferred means of advancing this goal.

And sadly, that's right, there's no guarantee he'll change his stance with Israel even afterwards. Come to think of it, he could be a problem even for other western countries. That's why Congress needs to form some kind of law that can enable them to check his foreign agenda just as much as the domestic one.
