FEMALE SUICIDE BOMBER BLEW HERSELF UP

A female Muslim suicide bomber tried to cause chaos:

A female suicide bomber blew herself up Monday afternoon near IDF soldiers operating in the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanoun. One soldier was lightly injured and no one except the bomber died. Marvat Masud, a resident of Jabaliya, was affiliated with the al-Quds Brigades, an offshoot of the Islamic Jihad terror organization. Masud was stopped by troops who became suspicious of her behavior as she approached wearing an explosive belt.

Masud detonated the bomb after coming as close as possible to the soliders at the checkpoint, but failed to achieve her goals. Only one soldier was wounded and no damage was reported.

Thank goodness it ended without innocent deaths.

Human Rights Watch cited practices such as rape victims being forced to marry assailants and light sentences for men who kill female relatives suspected of adultery. In a report released Tuesday, the rights group said families, tribal leaders and authorities, backed by tradition and discriminatory laws, often sacrifice victims' interests for "family honor." And the problem is getting worse with growing poverty and lawlessness in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, the New York-based group said.

The report comes about a year after a Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics survey of more than 4,000 households found 23 percent of women said they experienced domestic violence, but only 1 percent had filed a complaint. Two-thirds said they were subjected to psychological abuse at home.

One-quarter are physically abused, and two-thirds are psychologiclly abused. According the Left-wing HRW. OH MY GOD! This is horrifying. If they were treated this way because they were gay or black, then perhaps more Lefties would be upset. Or maybe not; maybe the Left has become so so so SO post modern that they no longer believe that all women everywhere are entitled to their basic universal huiman rights; maybe the Left thinks women's rights are culturally defined, and should remain that way!?

I DON'T! I think that the international community should shun all nations which allow this sort of systematic/sytemic abuse: kick them out of the UN and ban them from all multilateral trade organizations and forbid them any international loans. For starters.

WHY IS THIS SO IMPORTANT? Because jihadoterrorists are NOT born in the womb; they are created in the family. And if the family is made up of men who beat their wives and daughters - and kill them to restore their honor, then we can never expect their male children to respect us infidels. BRITAIN SLIDES DOWN THE SLOPE: eugenics; euthanasia, and chimeras

Three articles in the London TIMES Online published this week illustrate what is happening in Britain. Unmoored from their own ethical and religious tradition, Britons are propelling themselves down a slippery slope.

First, look at this article, which describes how physicians in the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists are seeking to have active euthanasia legalized. They want the right to kill babies they deem too defective to live, and state in a new classic of Orwellian Newspeak, that giving doctors the right to kill babies will be "ways of widening the management options available to the sickest of newborns." [Reliapundit adds: Your baby's death becomes merely a management option of the bureaucracy - at least in a state-financed/nationalized/socialist healthcare system. IOW: The doctors might very well deem your baby's death financially sound - and for the common good.]

The college’s submission was also welcomed by John Harris, a member of the government’s Human Genetics Commission and professor of bioethics at Manchester University. “We can terminate for serious foetal abnormality up to term but cannot kill a newborn. What do people think has happened in the passage down the birth canal to make it okay to kill the foetus at one end of the birth canal but not at the other?” he said.

It is significant that it is not the government which is forcing doctors to consider killing their patients, but doctors who are petitioning the government for the right to do so. That's the way it happened in Germany, too, where doctors infatuated with the ideals of the Eugenics movement persuaded the National-Socialist government to grant legal acceptance and tax-money support for a program that killed tens of thousands of German children. From the killing of Germans deemed too defective to live, it was but a short step to the killing of whole peoples who were judged too defective to live.

The second article describes another aspect of the German Eugenics program -- the Lebensborn Program, in which young women deemed sufficiently Aryan were pressured into bearing the illegitimate offspring of selected SS men.

Hitler believed the “Nordic race” was destined to rule the world. But many Lebensborn children ended up emotionally scarred underachievers, craving the warmth of family ties and alienated from their foster parents or mothers, who in many cases refused to speak about the programme, either out of shame or loyalty to the SS oath that they had sworn. The children’s suffering was worst in Norway, where many never recovered from the stigma of having a German father. Some were put in mental asylums.

The third article describes a plan by scientists to create human-cow hybrid embryos. [AKA: chimeras. MORE HERE.]

The team, from the University of Newcastle, would take a cow’s egg and remove the nucleus. They would then replace it with the nucleus of a cell taken from an adult human, such as a skin cell.

That sounds like something from the Island of Dr. Moreau.

• Gas Stamp Act (McDermott, D-WA) H.R. 3712. Creates billions of dollars in gas stamps each year for people to get free gas, to be distributed to those already eligible for food stamps. [We're still waiting for Xbox 360 Stamps.]
• Ex-Offenders Voting Rights Act (Rangel, D-NY) H.R. 663. Allows those convicts who are just out of prison to vote. [Democrats have a well-founded suspicion that their party would score the lion's share of the ex-prison vote.]
• Department of Peace and Nonviolence Act (Kucinich, D-OH) H.R. 3760. Establishes a U.S. Department of Peace and Nonviolence, as well as a Peace Day. The department would promote "human rights, international conflict prevention, nonviolent intervention, structured mediation, and peaceful conflict resolution."
• End the War in Iraq Act (McGovern, D-MA) H.R. 4232. Defunds the War in Iraq, forcing immediate troop withdrawal. [Exactly the cut-and-run strategy that leading Democrats say they have no dream of imposing.]
• Public Interest Lawyer Assistance Relief Act (Andrews, D-NJ) H.R. 1753. Forgives the law school debt for attorneys working for tax-exempt organizations or the government. [Why don't they just waive all tuition for self-identified liberals?]
• Medicare for All Act (Dingell, D-MI) H.R. 4683. Increases taxes on workers and employers in order to offer to citizens or legal residents of any age Medicare benefits equivalent to the health care plans federal employees receive. [After all, socialized medicine has worked so well in Canada.]

Vote Democrat - if you want less freedom, less security, and less common sense.

DAN RATHER TO CO-HOST ELECTION NIGHT ON COMEDY CENTRAL

Former "CBS Evening News" anchor Dan Rather may have lost his job with the "Eye” network, but he’ll be covering the midterm elections after all. That is, if you can call a gig on the Comedy Central "covering” the elections.

Rather will sit in during the first half-hour of Comedy Central's hour of election coverage featuring Jon Stewart of "The Daily Show” and Stephen Colbert of "The Colbert Report.” The show is titled "‘Indecision 2006’: The Midterm Midtacular,” and will be live at 11 p.m. on the East Coast and tape-delayed on the West Coast, TVweek.com reported.

Comedy Central has promised that the broadcast will be "unburdened by objectivity or even accuracy,” which might make Rather feel right at home.

WHY A DEMOCRATIC SENATE WOULD BE A DISASTER

I disagree with conservatives who claim that it's a matter of indifference what happens tomorrow or that a victory by the Democrats somehow would be a good thing. This is something that disgruntled conservatives said in 1986 too. But the Democratic takeover of the Senate that year caused Robert Bork not to be confirmed, and for Anthony Kennedy to join the Supreme Court instead. Twenty years later, we are still paying for that one. And some of the loudest complaints about the Supreme Court seem to come from "teach the Republicans a lesson" conservatives.

Federal judges and the SCOTUS have HUGE effect in our lives - from KELO to Hamdan, from property rights to the GWOT. If you're thinking about a protest vote - or staying home, then THINK AGAIN. If the Dems win, then the only thing between us and another 9/11 is a court order. Do you want your safety, and our national security determined by a federal judge endorsed by the ACLU, or by the Commander in Chief elected by all the people?

If you believe a robust and forward-leaning offense is better than trying to play defense, worrying about the rights of terrorists, and relying on so-called "1st Responders," then vote GOP.

REMEMBER: our REAL 1st Responders are our troops. Firemen are valiant and essential, but they always get the call AFTER an attack - and that's too late for me.

GANG WARFARE OR JIHAD SKIRMISH IN COPENHAGEN?

It has been reported that police in Denmark believe the violence among immigrant gangs has now superceded the internecine battles between the Hells Angels and the Banditos - both in sheer volume and in the use of handguns. These gangs are making a lot of money, and while some of it is used to buy fancy used BMW's and fat gold "ALI - G" chains, there is reason to fear that some of the money being generated by these illegal activities is being channeled to international terror organisations.

In the wee hours of Monday morning someone fired a total of 17 rounds at two nightspots - then a third bar was the scene of a "liquidation." The police believe a Moroccan man who survived four gunshot wounds was the intended victim. He will not cooperate with the investigation. The police have stated that the 3 incidents are unrelated, and that the victim was a random bar guest.

I do not think the police have a clue - or at least they are not sharing all the truth with the public. Was it a skirmish between Hamas and Fatah gangs? The dead man - now identified as Mohamed Lafi Al-hamed - was initially identified as an Iraqi refugee, but the police are uncertain, and it is reported that he was in fact a Jordanian-Palestinian in Denmark illegally - disguised as an Iraqi. BTW, this is the third liquidation since February: the first victim was a Tunisian, and the second a Bosnian.

UPDATE: Copenhagen police release photos of the wanted trigger men - I guess it should come as no suprise that they already had mugshots of them on hand.

And may God continue to grant us a government that will not kow-tow to genocidal tyrants or to Euroweenies or to Europhiles or to appeasing Leftist, useless, international debating clubs like the UN. IOW: may we NEVER elect a majority of Democrats to either body of Congress.

BEYOND THE CONGRESSIONAL MAJORITY

The past several weeks, most of us voters have focused our attention on the consequences of having either a Republican or a Democratic majority in Congress. But other matters will also be on the ballots in various states. Among those referenda, according to the November 5, 2006 editorial in the Washington Times:

Missouri, Amendment 2: This ballot initiative to protect and grant access to embryonic stem cell research has drawn national headlines recently... Advocates of the amendment say that it will open the door to any number of cures, and that it bans cloning. But critics allege those assurances are false, and that the amendment's fine print actually permits cloning most conservatives oppose.

Michigan, Proposal 2: Otherwise known as the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative, this ballot measure would prohibit state and local government from discriminating against or giving preferential treatment to any individual based on race, sex, ethnicity for employment. In other words, [it] would correct the Supreme Court's disastrous 2003 case upholding the University of Michigan's use of racial preferences in enrollment....

Virginia, Question 1: A state constitutional amendment to protect marriage as a union between a man and woman has a good chance of passing. With state supreme courts in Massachusetts and New Jersey legislating homosexual "marriage" from the bench, traditional marriage proponents have taken their fight to the voters, the democratic way....

Colorado, Referendum I: This is a domestic partnership initiative authorizing the state government to extend to homosexual couples many of the same benefits and protections that are currently granted to a married couple. Its supporters like to point out that the text of the referendum clearly states a "domestic partnership is not a marriage, which consists of the union of one man and one woman." Critics say that's just a matter of semantics and the initiative essentially legalizes homosexual "marriage."

South Dakota, Abortion Ban: The South Dakota legislature took the addition of two conservative justices on the Supreme Court as a sign that the days of Roe v. Wade were numbered. It passed an outright ban on abortion with no exception in the case of rape or incest. Opponents quickly gathered enough signatures to put the law on the ballot for the voters to decide. The law's original drafters knew that it would be challenged in court, perhaps getting as far as the Supreme Court....

California, Proposition 87: In the name of global warming, California liberals, a set which includes the uber-wealthy Hollywood class, have decided that the best way to get Californians to cut back on their carbon-dioxide emissions is to stick them with a $4 billion tax increase.

Don't forget to educate yourself as to any referenda on the ballot you will be casting on November 7!

SAUDI VICTIM OF GANG RAPE VICTIMIZED BY SAUDI COURTS AS WELL

In the House of Saud, women and dhimmis who are victims of violence, end up becoming victims of "justice" as well. From the Jerusalem Post (via Hot Air and Captain's Quarters):

A Saudi court has sentenced a gang rape victim to 90 lashes of the whip because she was alone in a car with a man to whom she was not married. The sentence was passed at the end of a trial in which the al- Qateef high criminal court convicted four Saudis convicted of the rape, sentencing them to prison terms and a total of 2,230 lashes.

The four, all married, were sentenced respectively to five years and 1,000 lashes, four years and 800 lashes, four years and 350 lashes, and one year and 80 lashes.

A fifth, married, man who was stated to have filmed the rape on his mobile phone still faces investigation. Two others alleged to have taken part in the rape evaded capture. Saudi courts take marital status into account in sexual crimes. A male friend of the rape victim was also sentenced to 90 lashes for being alone with her in the car.

The court heard that the victim and her friend were followed by the assailants to their car, kidnapped and taken to a remote farm, where the raping occurred.

The victim was quoted by Okaz newspaper as saying she had expected harsher penalties for the assailants, especially as they had pleaded not guilty. Her husband and family said that they would appeal to the court Saturday for harsher penalties for a crime which has shocked public opinion in Saudi Arabia and been the subject of months of debate.

I'm sure some people in Saudi Arabia are shocked, but others most likely are not, and certainly not those who uphold Islamofascism. The outcome of the trials like these in the House of Saud ceased to surprise long ago.

Was this apparent attack on Bush's so-called neoconservative agenda formulated by Noam Chomsky? Cindy Sheehan? Michael Moore? Teddy Jo Kennedy? John Kerry? It could have been written by any of them as recently as last week, but in fact, it's from 1990 - and it's taken from a book by John Kerry's father - Richard Kerry, who was a longtime career State Department diplomat and a Europhile and a multilateral accommodationist and UN-loving Leftist. (The apple don't fall far from the tree.)

Leftist multilateralist anti-American crap like this isn't a myth invented by Rove to frighten patriotic Americans and make then afraid to vote the Democrats into power. IT'S WHAT THEY REALLY THINK. THE FOLLY OF THAI DHIMMITUDE: TAB SCOOPS LGF BY 17 DAYS

LGF reported today on a few jihadist attacks in south Thailand - following the junta's gesture of appeasement - and argued that these attacks prove once again that appeasement doesn't work. LGF is of course 100% right, but Charles is also 17 days late: TAB reported this on 10/18, as advance word of the juntas appeasement was leaked - and praised by Left-wing NGO's.

And 2 days ago we commented on the junta's move to allow sharia, and on on the central flaw in the junta's rationalization for their appeasment: the Thai junta - like most Leftists - expressed their contention that the current jihad was a response to alienation felt by the Muslims. In fact, the jihadists - from southern Thailand to the suburban slums of Paris - WANT to be alienated from the West and want to live in under sharia. IOW: They don't want to be better integrated into the West; they want the West to conform to their jihadism. And this is why ALL accommodationist polices are doomed to failure.

As a resident of NYC, I know that cities are teeming with under-educated, un-assimilated people and millions of anti-American Leftists, and that rural areas are filled with SMART PEOPLE - PATRIOTS - the salt of the Earth, the folks who do most of the real hard work in this nation.

I know that American culture is the most exciting, engaging, and fluid culture in the history of humanity, and that it is so dynamic because we are so free: free to create whatever we want. I know that American culture gave rise to the most enlivening things in global Pop culture: Jazz, and Rock, and Hollywood movies - and the most basic fashions: blue jeans, white Tees, and sneakers or boots. I know that free people EVERYWHERE, INCLUDING EUROPE - when given the freedom of choice - almost always choose to enjoy things derived from American culture.

And, I prefer getting BOTH sides to the story and so I prefer to watch FOX NEWS.

AND I BELIEVE IN GOD.

THREE TRUTHS ABOUT IRAQ: SECTARIAN STRIFE IS NOT NEW; IT'S NOT WORSE THAN BEFORE THE WAR; AND WHY CONTAINMENT EQUALS DHIMMITUDE

Saddam was Sunni. His gang of thugs were all Sunni. They TERRORIZED, murdered, raped, and pillaged non-Arab Sunni Iraqis - (Kurds are Sunni but not Arab) - to the tune of hundreds of thousands.

Saddam's Sunni thugs also committed genocide against the Iraqi Shia - AND Iranians; (remember that Iran-Iraq War... the one during the Reagan Era... the one during which Reagan sold missiles to the... IRANIANS, NOT TO SADDAM... remember: Reagan's scandal was called IraN-Contra, and NOT IRAQ-CONTRA!). MILLIONS of Shia died in that war on both sides of the border. During Saddam's tyranny, the Shia within Iraq COULD NOT FIGHT BACK; it was a one-way war: ONLY SHIA DIED. HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS.

NOW... the Shia are fighting and killing the Sunni who had been their terror/torture masters during the Saddam Era. Instead of ONLY DEFENSELESS Shia dying, Sunni and Shia are both killing & dying. And, on an annualized basis, FEWER Iraqis are dying now than during the Saddam Era. And half of them are Sunni.

The current level of violence - though less than last year and the year before that - is SICKENING, and it must eventually should be stopped. It will not be until Iran and its stooges are NEUTRALIZED:

I also want to point out that on the one hand, Shia-Sunni violence is 1300 years old, and has NOTHING to do with Bush or democratization.

On the other hand, the Iranians (who support Moki alSadr) and al Qaeda (who deliberately RE-IGNITED the whole mess when they blew up the Shia mosque in Samara) are exploiting this sectarian rift for their own reasons. Al Qaeda's desire to control Iraq, and Iranian Hegemony - and NOT so-called US hegemony" - are the true reasons for the current mess.

The West needs to defeat BOTH of these foes: al Qaeda and Iran. If we do not make a stand in Iraq, then both of these foes will become stronger and it will only be much more difficult for us to defeat them down-the-road.

These three contextualizations - (that the level of killing is not above what Iraq has suffered under for the last thirty years; that Sunni-Shia violence is not related to USA intervention; and that the sectarian rift is as old as Islam itself) - should temper criticism of US policy for any rational person. And all rational people should accept that our foes in Iraq must be defeated.

YEAH, YEAH, YEAH: I've heard all the "containment" BS: "We shouldn't have invaded; we had Saddam CONTAINED!" BULL! First off, Containment is a phony idiotic failed policy. IN FACT, IT FAILED in regard to the USSR. When it was introduced in the 1950's, the USSR was not even a quarter as powerful as they were in 1980. Containment allowed the Soviet Union to EXPAND AND EXPAND AND EXPAND: invading Hungary and Czechoslovakia, and Poland, and establishing satellites in SE Asia and Africa - AND CENTRAL AMERICA. Only Reagan's CONFRONTATIONAL approach defeated the USSR and liberated nearly a BILLION PEOPLE from socialist tyranny and the poverty that tyranny created.

WE IGNORED JIHADISM FROM 1979 UNTIL 9/11/01. As a result, it expanded and expanded and expanded. Now: We must be AT LEAST as confrontational with jihadism. We must NEVER accept containment. Containment is just appeasement by another name. Containment is dhimmitude.

PASTORIUS:

I'm reading a book called "Blood and Thunder" by Hampton Sides. It's the story of the American conquest of the West told primarily through the life story of Kit Carson the legendary trapper, scout and soldier.

I just picked up the book today, so I'm only at the beginning, but I can say that it appeals to me already. Recently, I drove across the Arizona desert all by lonesome, listening to Miles Davis and Gil Evans "Sketches of Spain" album. It seemed as if their version of Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez grew out of the landscape in which I was driving.

The Arizona desert is stunning and even spooky with it's improbable and surreal rock formations and the cacti which stand by the road like sentries. A phrase began to ring in my head, a phrase from a poem I have not read in years; "Give me men to match my mountains." I thought who were those early pioneers, men who could have come this way, and said to themselves, "Yes, I will go even further"? The answer is, only men whose spirits are as big and as frightening as the mountains and rock formations on which I was gazing. That is why I picked up this book today. I want to understand this part of the bloody and glorious history of America. Maybe I'll write more about it next week.

PS - Ah, here we go. What kind of men were they? An excerpt from the book:

"Venturing on his first bison hunt, he learnt how to jerk the meat and turn it into a fine pemmican, and how to enjoy the Plains Indian delicacy of the still-hot liver, sliced fresh from the pulsing animaland seasoned with bile squirted from its gallbladder."

Six Arab States Join The Rush To Go Nuclear

From the London Times:

THE SPECTRE of a nuclear race in the Middle East was raised yesterday when six Arab states announced that they were embarking on programmes to master atomic technology. The move, which follows the failure by the West to curb Iran’s controversial nuclear programme, could see a rapid spread of nuclear reactors in one of the world’s most unstable regions, stretching from the Gulf to the Levant and into North Africa. The countries involved were named by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as Algeria, Egypt, Morocco and Saudi Arabia. Tunisia and the UAE have also shown interest.

We must put a stop to Iran's nuclear ambitions. The only way to do this is to hit them militarily. Negotiations and sanctions will not work. Sanctions did not work in Iraq, and negotiations have not worked in North Korea, and neither of these strategies will work in Iran.

Honestly, we must also attack North Korea. We need to settle all accounts. We can not allow the world to go down this road to chaos - [slouching to Bethlehem... ed]. The Republicans have the will to do something about this problem, and the Democrats don't. Vote Republican. The future of the world depends on it.

Reliapundit adds: Even if these nations intended to use nuclear assets peacefully, they could hardly be counted on to safeguard their nuclear material. On this narrow basis alone, empowering them to achieve independently operating nuclear assets would be a grave error. As we all know, the UN and the IAEA are entirely dysfunctinal (having allowed Pakistan and North Korea to get nukes - and nearly letting Saddam get them too!). That's why we mustn't OUTSOURCE our national security to them - EVER. The Dems will. If you want France and Russia and China to have a veto over your safety and our Pentagon, then by all means... vote Democrat or stay home. I for one don't want the Murtha's or ther Pelosi's or ther Kofi's or the ElBaradei's to have any say over my future.

TIMES ADMITS BUSH WAS RIGHT ABOUT SADDAM'S NUKE PROGRAM

It's all over the blogosphere, but that's because it ought to be. In what was no doubt planned as a late-breaking October surprise hit piece against President Bush, the New York Times lets drop the admission that the President was right about Saddam's nuclear program all along.

The article describes a web site that the Administration put up but then took down over concerns that it might reveal too much about how to make an atomic bomb. The website contained Iraqi documents. Buried in the Times's report is this key revelation:

Among the dozens of documents in English were Iraqi reports written in the 1990s and in 2002 for United Nations inspectors in charge of making sure Iraq had abandoned its unconventional arms programs after the Persian Gulf war. Experts say that at the time, Mr. Hussein’s scientists were on the verge of building an atom bomb, as little as a year away.

The world is very fortunate that President George W. Bush had the courage and foresight to take down Saddam's nuclear weapons program when he did.

Reliapundit adds: The NYTIMES printed this story in order to make their own leaks looks less heinous, and to make themselves seem less traitorous - believing that by accusing the Bush Administration of committing the same "crime," they would prevent attacks on themselves. The NYTIMES did this despite knowing that this charge inherently buttresses one of the key arguments for the war: that Saddam was actively pursuing WMD and nukes - and that we couldn't wait for him to attain them, and had to preempt.

This proves that the NYTIMES puts their own private and narrow interests above even their Left-wing causes. How shallow. If I was a Leftist I would never read the NYTIMES ever again.

THEY'RE LEAVING

The Jerusalem Post (via Israelly Cool) reports that thousands of Arabs/Muslims living in Judea/Samaria/Gaza are leaving for other countries, with thousands more requesting to emigrate too:

Palestinians are leaving the territories due to the harsh security and economic situation there, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday. Israel Radio reported that thousands of Palestinians have received permits to emigrate to Arab and other foreign countries.

Ahmed Suboh, a Palestinian Foreign Ministry official, said at a Ramallah press conference that over the last four months, foreign and Arab diplomats in the territories have authorized 10,000 Palestinians to enter their countries. Suboh said that some 45,000 additional emigration requests were currently being evaluated by various foreign representatives. The Foreign Ministry official noted that Palestinian emigration was likely to continue with the deterioration of the security situation.

A situation that their "leaders" led to, lest we forget. And, as Aussie Dave notes:

Before the palestinians began their war against us - engaging in, and supporting terrorism - they were able to freely move in and out of Israel, find employment in Israel, and have Israelis frequent their businesses. They have only themselves to blame for their predicament. Well, themselves and the Arab and Muslim countries that have decided to use them as pawns in their pursuit of Israel's destruction.

BRITAIN ADMITS TO SELLING CHEMICALS AND OTHER WEAPONS TO IRAN AND SYRIA

Britain admits to one of its acts of evil:

The British government has confirmed a human rights report that it sold to Iran and Syria weapons and chemicals, according to Mideast Newsline. Iran spent about $350 million for the British-made materials and Syria orders $200,000 worth of dual-use items, including chemicals that produce toxins. The British Foreign Office said that Iran and Syria could use the weapons and technology in their armies.

It looks like Britain is becoming as bad as Russia, which has already upheld its own sales of weapons to Iran.

Troops exchanged fire with gunmen holed up in a mosque in the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanun early Friday, Israel Radio reported. Witnesses said army bulldozers razed one wall of the mosque and soldiers fired tear gas and stun grenades in an attempt to force some 60 terror suspects to surrender.

Arab terrorists and IDF soldiers early Friday morning engaged in a shootout at a mosque in Beit Hanoun, in the northern Gaza region, where 60 terrorists entered to escape arrest. Arab sources told Reuters News Agency that IDF bulldozers demolished one wall of the mosque, but military spokesmen said that every effort was being made not to damage the structure. They added that the terrorists stored a large number of weapons and ammunition in the mosque.

I have maintained for a long time that the mosques and madrassas which are involved in jihadoterror must be treated as if they were bomb factories and barracks and destroyed. KERRY LIED THEN, AND KERRY LIES NOW

In his widely broadcast non-apology on the Don Imus program, Jean-Francois Kerry had this to say about his shameful, over-the-top slander of brave and decent Americans in 1971:

But I’m not going to stand back from the reality here, which is they’re trying to change the subject. It’s their campaign of smear and fear. They’re going at—and, incidentally, when you say I’ve done something in the past. I’ve told the truth in the past. I’ve never done anything except tell the truth. And I’m not going to take anybody’s comment to suggest that somehow my telling the truth was a mistake.

The American people rely on the truth. And when I came back from Southeast Asia, I told the truth. And I’m proud that I stood up and told the truth then, and I’ve told the truth about Iraq every single step of the way.

He didn't speak the truth in 1971. The "Winter Soldier Investigation," of which he is evidently proud even today, did not produce evidence of a single verifiable war crime. Moreover, his 1972, comments, mentioned in an earlier Astute Bloggers post, were also false -- then and now:

"I am convinced a volunteer army would be an army of the poor and the black and the brown," Kerry wrote. "We must not repeat the travesty of the inequities present during Vietnam. I also fear having a professional army that views the perpetuation of war crimes as simply 'doing its job.'"

The United States Army in Vietnam was not "an army of the poor and the black and the brown." Such inequities were not "present during Vietnam." The statistics are available.

* 88.4% of the men who actually served in Vietnam were Caucasian, 10.6% (275,000) were black; 1% listed as others.
* 86.3% of the men who died in Vietnam were Caucasian (includes Hispanics); 12.5% (7,241) were black; 1.2% belonged to other races.* 170,000 Hispanics served in Vietnam; 3,070 (5.2% of total) died there.
* 86.8% of the men who were killed as a result of hostile action were Caucasian; 12.1% (5,711)were black; 1.1% belonged to other races

* 14.6% (1.530) of non-combat deaths were among blacks.

Kerry's disparaging remarks were false in 1971 and 1972, and false now. No wonder he's joined Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid in hiding from the public.

KERRY HAS ALWAYS THOUGHT THE MILITARY WAS FOR PO' FOLKS

As reported today in an Associated Press story by John Solomon, Jean-Francois Kerry's most recent salvo against American soldiers is simply an echo of opinions that he has held and expressed for decades. During his 1972 run for Congress, Kerry said:

"I am convinced a volunteer army would be an army of the poor and the black and the brown," Kerry wrote. "We must not repeat the travesty of the inequities present during Vietnam. I also fear having a professional army that views the perpetuation of war crimes as simply 'doing its job.'"

Kerry's apology yesterday is obviously insincere and false. He never intended to lampoon President Bush, he was obviously counseling college students to stay in school and mocking those of their contemporaries who have chosen to serve their Country. As the incomparable Mark Steyn put it at the Corner,

If you talk to Democrats of the middle-class and upper-middle-class and (in John Heinz Kerry’s case) the neo-Gulf-emir-class, you’ll have heard the same thing a thousand times: these poor fellows in Iraq, they’re only there because they’re too poverty-stricken and ill-educated so they couldn’t become Senators and New York Times reporters and tenured Queer Studies professors like normal Americans do. That is, in fact, what they mean by the claim that they “support our troops”: they want to bring them home and retrain them so they’re not forced into taking jobs as Bush’s torturers and thugs.

Kerry's gaffe was a Freudian slip that revealed his true feelings. He has decided to "cut and run" from the campaign trail, in the hope that we will forget all about him. Let's hope that the voters remember that before putting the Defeatocrats in power.

Morse tried to get a comment from Casey about the cancellation of John Kerry's scheduled appearance with Casey. Morse also asked Casey questions about what Morse views as Casey's underreported pro-life stance. Morse reports that for his efforts he got an elbow to the stomach from Casey campaign spokesman Larry Spar...

Unlike many other Dems running for the Senate and posing as moderates (like Ford) Casey never condemned Kerry's comments or demanded an apology. This item proves Casey would like to duck the entire issue. What a phoney and a coward!

Pennsylvanian patriots should WAKE UP and get out and vote for Santorum - who SUPPORTS the troops! We don't need Senators - or Congressmen - who serve the enemy. ALSO - if you're in the PA 12th CD - while you're in the booth, be sure and vote for Irey, too. And tell your friends!

The lack of accurate information on Muslims, which became clearer following the cartoon crisis, and the pope’s contentious remarks, has led some European countries to introduce TV programs on Islam and its fundamental precepts. TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE

Statement from John Kerry, from this source:

As a combat veteran, I want to make it clear to anyone in uniform and to their loved ones: my poorly stated joke at a rally was not about, and never intended to refer to any troop. I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member, or American who was offended.

It is clear the Republican Party would rather talk about anything but their failed security policy. I don’t want my verbal slip to be a diversion from the real issues. I will continue to fight for a change of course to provide real security for our country, and a winning strategy for our troops.

Having had two uncles who served at Omaha Beach and one who served on the front lines of the Pacific Theater, I find Senator Kerry's apology hollow and just as offensive as his failed "joke." My uncles volunteered to serve on the front lines because they loved America — not because they flunked out of school. Besides, the apology came after pressure from his fellow Democrats. As I see it, their primary concern was and is the November 7 election. Senator Kerry's apology is nothing more than pandering for votes.

More than 70 Muslim workers at France's main airport have been stripped of the security clearance for allegedly posing a risk to passengers, officials say. The staff at Charles de Gaulle airport, including baggage handlers, are said to have visited terrorist training camps in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

This is a good move - one which is very un-PC, but very necessary: real security requires focused scrutiny. I think the entire West should be scrutinizing ALL Muslims who - since 1980 - have visited Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Syria and the so-called Occupied Territories. There are many jobs, in many sectors of our economy, which may give the enemy an opportunity to attack us. Like truckdrivers, gas station owners, and vendors in crowded urban centers. For starters.
