Jacki Brami, Garges’s rabbi, and his sons have been, "as usual", insulted, according to the anti-Semitism vigilance bureau ... “It’s business as usual,” Samy Ghozlan, head of the anti-Semitism vigilance bureau told EJP. “These communities are used to these daily assaults. It’s worrisome, but we fear the worst is still to come.”

But - and this is the crucial difference between the different generations of rioters - most of those living in the French ghettoes are Muslims and have grown up during a period of Islamic radicalisation. These men are capable of being forces for both good and mischief; there have been examples from the past fortnight of situations calmed, but also of attackers acting under their direction, so that Muslim-owned businesses, a halal butcher's shop and a kebab joint, for example, are spared

(3) IMPORTANTLY: I just did a word search at BBC, on synagogue, and it turned up ZERO relevant responses. DITTO GOOGLE NEWS and DITTO THE NYTIMES and DITTO NEWSNOW.CO.UK (another news search engine). This further proves a deliberate attempt to censor the truth by the MSM.

(4) ALSO: The recent PIRATE ATTACK on the cruise ship off the coast of Somalia... NOT ONE MSM outlet said that these pirates are Muslim. (In general they avoid this truth.) Well: piracy has long been a Muslim specialty - REMEMBER THE BARBARY COAST, ANYONE?!

WHY DOES THE MSM DO THIS? For the same reason that Chirac and Villepin think that throwing more money at the islamothugs will work: The MSM - (and France and the Left) - are captives of multiculturalism; therefore they deny that we are fighting another culture, one which has declared a religious war against us - and all the other "non-believers."

No matter what we say or don't say, no matter what we do, or don't do, because our enemies have initiated - and are waging - a religous war, IT IS ONE - whether we like it or not.

The sooner we accept that and target the REAL enemy, the sooner we will win.

PARIS INTIFADA - DAY 11: SPREADS TO GERMANY; CLAIMS FIRST FATALITY --- AND PROOF OF THE ISLAMIST CONNECTION!

EXPRESSINDIA: Berlin, November 7: Five cars were set alight in a working-class area of the German capital Berlin, with police saying it was a possible attempt to copy the violence currently sweeping French cities.

BBC: At least 1,400 vehicles have been burnt out and 395 people arrested in France's latest rioting, while the unrest has apparently claimed its first fatality. Jean-Jacques Le Chenadec, 61, who fell into a coma after being beaten by a hooded man last week, has died. The announcement followed the worst night of violence since the unrest began 11 days ago.

American and French media sources warned of coordinated Islamist action against France in the weeks before the riot. Agence France Presse even had a quote from the maligned Nicolas Sarkozy noting the imminent nature of the threat in its 9/27 dispatch:

An Algerian Islamist organisation, the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC), has issued a call for action against France which it describes as "enemy number one", intelligence officials said Tuesday.

"The only way to teach France to behave is jihad and the Islamic martyr," the group's leader Abu Mossab Abdelwadoud, also own as Abdelmalek Dourkdal, was quoted as saying in an Internet message earlier this month.

"France is our enemy number one, the enemy of our religion, the enemy of our community," he was quoted as saying. ... Interior minister Nicolas Sarkozy said Monday that the risk of terrorist attack in France is "at a very high level... There are cells operating on our territory."

The French government took that warning seriously enough to make a sweep of Paris for GSPC operatives. It didn't make a dent, however, according to the Washington Post. On October 19th, John Ward Anderson reported to American readers that the Islamists had recruited French citizens for Middle East training in jihad, with the intention of having them initiate warfare within France:

French police investigating plans by a group of Islamic extremists to attack targets in Paris discovered last month that the group was recruiting French citizens to train in the Middle East and return home to carry out terrorist attacks, sources familiar with the investigation said.

One French official said the extremists were using a virtual "underground railroad" through Syria to spirit European and Middle Eastern citizens into and out of Iraq. A senior French law enforcement official, who declined to be quoted by name because he was speaking about classified information, said French citizens had undergone terrorist training at camps in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.

"There's always been an enormous jihad zone to train people to fight in their country of origin," the official said. "We saw it Afghanistan, in Bosnia, in Kosovo, and now we're seeing it in Iraq."

That prelude certainly seems more than a mere coincidence to me. Within six weeks of the GSPC announcement, we see a massive and coordinated uprising originating from the ghettoes in which Algerian and other Muslim refugees and their families live. The "riots' have sophisticated coordination between cell leaders, using the Internet and instant messaging as well as cell phones -- an odd tool for a spontaneous demonstration where one neighborhood would hardly have those phone numbers at the ready. Those who say this unrest is unrelated to Islamism are wrong. Islamism is the ideological core fueling it - just as Leftism was in the late 1960's.

RELIAPUNDIT: Any response which doesn't address the islamofascist foundation of the insurrection is bound to fail.

PARIS INTIFADA - DAY 10; THE VIOLENCE ESCALATES, OR: "How do you say QUAGMIRE in French?"

EVRY, France (AFX) - Thirty police were hurt, two of them seriously, when they were shot at while responding to unrest south of Paris, officers said. The riot squad officers were hit by buckshot fired from pistols and hunting rifles in the suburb of Grigny. The two badly injured were hospitalized while the 27 others were treated on the spot. One officer was slightly hurt by buckshot in nearby Draveil. A school and a kindergarten were set on fire in the same region, police said, adding that some 30 people were arrested.

The insurrection is burgeoning in scope and fervor and deadliness. At some point, the authorities must present a greater force effect against the perps. Why they haven't yet is NUTS. Do they think it will just burn itself out!?

The French ineffectiveness here - as in the Ivory Coast, and elsewhere has fed the flames. And Chirac's threat to arrest the perp and make them serve jail time is panzy-assed nonsense: French prisons are a hotbed of islamism already; anyone they send there will come out worse.

They need to be ruthless. It will send the right signal: "don't mess with us." Anything short of that just invites further escalation. BTW: I used the word insurrection (above) on purpose: this intifada is a direct threat to the rule of law and the economy of France. Chirac must come to realize that "it's us or them" and the "us" ain' his UMP but French/European France.

I think that the headline says a lot - especially coming from the BBC! Iraqis troops are beginning to take the lead in joint operations and soon they will take over the fight and WIN. And they have a constitution, and soon a popularly elected parliament. THIS IS A GREAT CHAPTER IN HUMAN HISTORY. GOD BLESS GEORGE BUSH!

US and Iraqi forces have fought insurgents house-to-house in a town near Iraq's border with Syria during a major new offensive, the US army says. About 3,500 US and Iraqi troops backed by tanks and fighter aircraft moved into Husayba early on Saturday. A US army spokesman said 17 insurgents had been killed. He said there were no military or civilian casualties.

Nicolas Sarkozy was deliberately demonized in the TV reports of him using his strong language earlier in the week. In fact, there was footage available showing Sarkozy using the word “racaille” (riff-raff) while speaking to an inhabitant of Clichy-sous-Bois who herself had just used the word while expressing how fed up she was with local crime.

Sarko answered her using her own words. In politics, that’s a way of communicating empathy. Her words were edited out and never shown in the insuing days. His weren’t. “Arrêt sur Images” showed the whole exchange today.

Mr. Sarkozy was filmed quietly and calmly speaking to youths from Clichy who were apparently very deferential toward him (calling him Monsieur), eager to talk to him and seemed impressed that he was willing to leave himself unprotected by bodyguards in order to spend some time with them. In a what amounts to a ghetto that’s a sincere display of trust.

That footage didn’t make the news programs simply because the Provisional wing of the CGT got in the way of honest journalism. It didn’t suit their political agenda, and through its’ heavy ideological editing fanned the flames you might see in your nearest car park or bus depot.

The MSM in France is EVIDENTLY as bad and as Leftist and as anti-Amercian as any in Arabia. I think we should call them "Le Jazeera."

NYTIMES: - "A high Qaeda official in American custody was identified as a likely fabricator months before the Bush administration began to use his statements as the foundation for its claims that Iraq trained Al Qaeda members to use biological and chemical weapons, according to newly declassified portions of a Defense Intelligence Agency document."

This is a CROCK OF BULL.

(1) NO SINGLE SOURCE WAS "THE FOUNDATION" FOR THE CHARGE THAT IRAQ TRAINED AL QAEDA MEMBERS TO USE BIO/CHEM WEAPONS.

IT IS COMMON KNOWLEDGE THAT TRAINING MANUALS WERE FOUND IN AFGHANISTAN WHICH SHOWED THAT AL QAEDA WAS DEVELOPING BIO/CHEM WMD CAPABILITIES. SADDAM HAD EXPERTISE WHICH AL QAEDA - OR ANOTHER JIHADOTERRORIST GROUP - WOULD HAVE USED GIVEN THE CHANCE. BUSH WAS NOT GONNA GIVE THEM THAT CHANCE; BUSH SAID MANY MANY TIMES THAT SADDAM WAS NOT TRUSTWORTHY, AND THAT IN A POST-9/11 WORLD WE SHOULDN'T TAKE THAT CHANCE. HE IS RIGHT.

(2) THE ASSERTIONS BY AL LIBI WERE NOT THE SOLE BASIS FOR ISSUING UNSCR#1441, OR FOR ATTACKING SADDAM.

CONGRESSIONAL RESOLUTION #141 - AUTHORIZING BUSH TO MAKE WAR AGAINST SADDAM WAS A VERITABLE LAUNDRY LIST OF REASONS -

It was NOT limited to a Saddam/Al Qaeda/WMD operational nexus. Look for yourself. Do any of the following aspects of Joint Resolution #141 depend on al LIBI?! If you are intellectually HONEST you MUST conclude they DO NOT!

(f) Iraq's connection to terrorist groups, including Al Qaeda
(g) Fear that Iraq would provide weapons of mass destruction to terrorists for use against the United States

Even though we haven't found any stockpiles, ands even if Saddam never trained al Qaeda in WMD, these reasons still hold water. THEY ARE ALL STILL TRUE. Note that (g) is the FEAR that this COULD happen, NOT the certainty that IT HAD ALREADY HAPPENED.

(3)THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION WAS CAREFUL TO STATE - MANY TIMES - THAT THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE THAT SADDAM AND AL QAEDA HAD AN OPERATIONAL RELATIONSHIP.

(4) FOREIGN INTEL SERVICES HAVE THEIR OWN SOURCES, AND NOT ONE QUESTIONED THE ASSERTION THAT SADDAM WAS POSSIBLY SHARING WMD KNOWLEDGE.

(5) al LIBI DID NOT RECANT HIS CLAIMS UNTIL 2004. THOUGH SOME REPEAT SOME ANALYSTS MAY HAVE DOUBTED HIM EARLIER, NOT ALL DID. BUSH BELIEVED - AS I DO NOW - THAT ONE MUST ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION - WHICH MEANS, IN THIS CASE, ONE MUST ASSUME THE WORST, AND HOPE FOR THE BEST.

(6) THE DIA CRITIQUE WAS - IN HINDSIGHT - CORRECT. HINDISGHT ALWAYS IS. As is almost always the case when it comes to INTERPRETING intel, there were PROBABLY others who felt al Libi could be believed. Advice doesn't come in boxes labeled "good" and "bad" - and interpretations of intel don't come in boxes labeled "right" and "wrong."

It's up to the POLICY-MAKERS to choose among varying analyses and differing advice. BUSH CHOSE. In 2003. There was a national referendum on this choice (and his ability to choose) - it's called the election of 2004.

In my mind this post-war debate about the build up to war (what the Lweft sometimes calls "the RUSH to war") is a STUPID MEANINGLESS DEBATE. It's less interesting than debating the true causes of the Civil War or whether FDR knew in advance about Pearl Harbor. THE ONLY REASON THIS DEBATE IS GOING ON IS BECAUSE THE DEM AND THE MSM HAVE "BDS" AND CAN'T GET OVER IT! Their partisan and they want to hurt Bush and the GOP.

To the anti-Bushie Left - which OWNS the Democat Party and still dominates the MSM - the Iraq War is as ILLEGITIMATE as the Bush ELECTION IN 2000! And they are so angry they just can't seem to find the strength to MOVE ON! Pity, they are missing the greatest assertive advance of democracy since Reagan's - which culminated with the Fall of The Berlin Wall in 1989.

What Bush has wrought in Afghanistan and Iraq - and in Libya and Lebanon, and somewhat in Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar, (and soon in Syria) - is the FALL OF THE ISLAMOFASCIST WALL. And before this revolution is over it will have liberated as many people as were liberated by the collapse of the USSR.

Ethnic unrest has broken out in Iran's Arabic-speaking province of Khuzestan, according to Iranian media.One newspaper reported that around 200 protesters gathered in the city of Ahvaz to shout anti-government slogans. Iranian news agency Mehr said protesters in traditional Arabic dress threw bottles and rocks at police before ringleaders were arrested. Iran blamed bomb blasts last month and in June across the region, which borders on Iraq, on UK agents.

I hope it's TRUE that the Brits are behind this - AND that we're helping them on this front - and perhaps even have some Special Forces on the ground inside Iran who are targeting or softening up the targets...

ENDING THE PARIS INTIFADA: IS THERE A GOOD THIRD WAY TO END THE MAYHEM?

The Paris Intifada spreads. Some in France are calling for more dialog (Leftists and "moderate Msulims"), as if that would stop the islamothugs from spreading their mayhem.

Others - like me - have called for a stepped up MILITARY response; we think that the French police have been patient enough. (They should treat the banlieus the way the US Marines treated Fallujah and the IDF treated Jenin.)

Yesterday, Sarkozy - a pale shadow of Rudy, but France's best version nevertheless - threatened the islamothugs with "stiff jail sentences." This threat seems UTTERLY STUPID to me. Besides mosques, prisons are the jihadoterrorists best recruiting grounds!

But perhaps there is a THIRD WAY:

France and the EU can offer a bounty to the residents of the banlieus: in return for them renouncing their French citizenship and A ONE-WAT TICKET back to their nation of origin, France could pay each 10,000 euros. They'd have to agree NEVER TO RETURN TO THE EU.

This would be a bloodless, non-violent, non-cronfrontational way to get them out and keep them out. (It's not unlike how the Israelis got the settlers out of Gaza.)

In spite of the fact that there are 5 million Muslims in France - many of whom (but NOT ALL of whom) live in the banlieues, this wouldn't be as costly as it seems at first. WHY?! Well, this sub-group has, by some measures, a 25% unemployment rate (50% among young men!) and since France has very generous unemployment insurance... KEEPING these people in France ALSO HAS ITS COSTS!

Look at it this way: instead of payng these islamothugs "once a month" to reside in these slums and stay in France - (as France now does, in effect), France could pay them a LUMP SUM to get out and stay out.

There'd be other BIG SAVINGS: reduced property losses, and fewer casualites. And the emptied banlieues could be privatized as condos - (generating some more income for the government, and off-setting some of the costs of getting the islamothugs to leave).

ARE YOU LISTENING CHIRAC!? Villepin?! Sarkozy!?

UPDATE/ADDENDUM: The reason I thought of this approach is because France CAN'T deport most of these islamothugs because they're "citoyens." This is a novel way to "deport" this islamomalcontents/misfits/subversives; it's a sort of "VOLUNTARY EXILE." I have a feeling that with a check for 10,000 euros many Muslim nations might take these reverse-immigrants - and some of them might make some good of themselves... well a few. Maybe. ALSO: Other EU nations could use the same method. Denmark, the UK, Holland, Italy, Spain, Sweden - all the EU countries with large maladjusted Msulimpopulations... It's really NOT a horrible idea; after all, I'm only suggesting that they offer money to these malcontents so they can go HOME - or go back to their ancestral home.

Wilson lies have long since been exposed, first by then CIA director George Tenet, the week after Wilson's original op-ed:

He [Joseph Wilson] reported back to us that one of the former Nigerian officials he met stated that he was unaware of any contract being signed between Niger and rogue states for the sale of uranium during his tenure in office. The same former official also said that in June 1999 a businessman approached him and insisted that the former official meet with an Iraqi delegation to discuss "expanding commercial relations" between Iraq and Niger.

The former official interpreted the overture as an attempt to discuss uranium sales.

Wilson's lies about having debunked the President's sixteen words were also painstakingly documented in the Senate Intelligence Committee report on pre-war intelligence assessments. How did the room-full of reporters react to being the vehicle for the repetition of known lies? They laughed and applauded.

The shameful low point for the Press Club was the "question and answer" session. No questions from the attendees were allowed. Press Club President Rick Dunham spoon fed Wilson a series of friendly questions, hand picked to lead Wilson into additional segments of his prepared screed. The curtain dropped entirely when Wilson let slip that he already knew the second question. Here is the revealing moment, transcribed from my tape of the speech:

Joe Wilson: ... Now with respect to the second question? Was Rove resign? [Sic.] Was that there?

Rick Dunham [sotto voce]: That's coming up.

JW [sotto voce]: Oh, that's coming up. [Then in full voice, realizing everyone has heard]: I read the question.... I read it over his shoulder.

RD: That's... right-heh… Should Karl Rove resign and...
[Interrupted by audience laughter. JW and RD also laugh, but without pausing as they hurry past the naked moment.]

This is a news organization? EVERY question was a leading puffball. "Have you been threatened?" "Should Bush be impeached?" Remember how they made a front page scandal out of American soldiers working out who would answer what type of question from the President? I'm sure they will be really outraged that an accuser telling known lies got to pick which questions he would be asked. Oh wait a minute. They were there. And they tittered and applauded and welcomed every false gesture.

It's hard to say what the low point for Wilson was, but it is worth exposing his newest disinformation about the forged documents. See Stephen Hayes’ recent Weekly Standard article for the sequence of lies that Wilson pedaled to several reporters in the Spring of '03, claiming to have discovered in Niger that the intelligence about Iraqi attempts to buy uranium ore had been based on forged documents. There were indeed some forged documents, which may have been concocted by the French to try to undermine the U.S./British case against Saddam Hussein, but these did not come into U.S. possession until October 2002. Wilson's trip to Niger was in February 2002. (Some claim the forgeries were concocted by the Italians, but either way, they played no role in Wilson's trip.)

President Mitterrand, the Washington Post reported in 1992, blamed the riots on the "conservative society" that Presidents Reagan and Bush had created and said France is different because it "is the country where the level of social protection is the highest in the world." How the times have changed. Muslims in Paris's suburbs are out shooting at police and firefighters, burning cars and buildings, and throwing rocks at commuter trains.

PARIS INTIFADA DAY 9 - SPREADING THROUGHOUT FRANCE

NOVINITE: "The violence that wracked Paris suburbs over the past week spread to new areas outside the capital for the first time."

FOXNEWS: "... reports of unrest also surfaced north of Paris in the Normandy region and to the east in Burgundy, according to France-Info radio. ... A bus depot was set on fire to the west of Paris in the town of Trappes, incinerating 27 buses, authorities said."

BBC: "Thursday night's incidents occurred in several towns to the north-east and west of the capital, including Aulnay-sous-Bois. ... Elsewhere in France: Cars torched in the eastern city of Dijon. Sporadic trouble reported in areas close to Rouen and Marseilles."

FACT: In every case - in all the locations, the rioters are mostly Muslim. Yet somehow - according to the CW and the MSM - the problem is poverty or unassimilation - BUT: (1) there are many more non-Mulsim UNEMPLOYED than Muslim unemployed and the non-Mulsims ARE NOT RIOTING, and (2) the PARENTS of these unassimilated Muslim YOUTHS never rioted like this. I argue the parent's generation didn't riot like this because they were poor and unassimilated BEFORE THE ERA OF JIHADOTERRORISM.

The ideology of hate is the key to these riots. That and the fact that years of appeasement of Muslim thug regimes (like Assad and Arafat and Kaddafy and Saddam and the Ayatollah - who lived in Paris before returning to Iran) and local Muslim thugs by the French authorities (so-called) have only made the problem worse - and the perps more bold. WHO DO THE CIA LEAKS SERVE?

When you're trying to find out "whodunnit" it's often effective to ask: "cui bono?" - which means "WHO BENEFITS?" The recent CIA leaks (the Plame Referral, referred to the DOJ by SOMEONE at the CIA even though there was evidently NO underlying CRIME, and the current BLACK PRISON leak, for example) all hurt Bush and all benefitted the anti-Bushies. Hmmm... And they all HAVE TO emanate from the CIA. Hmmm... Just saying... BTW: so was former #2 at the CIA, Adm. Bobby Inman:

PARIS INTIFADA - ROOT CAUSES

Readers of this blog know I have followed the "Paris Intifada" since DAY ONE; we are now in Day 6. I have read many reports about the rioting and most of the reports form the MSM make me sick.

I just saw a CNN report by Jim Bitterman about the week of rioting in Paris. It really typifies the approach of the MSM to this story and their "conventional wisdom."

Here's basically what he reported - (I found at CNN in a written version of his "TV package"):

Clichy, northeast of Paris, is crowded and impoverished and with a large Muslim population. Local officials claim the suburb is one of the poorest in France. About 60 percent of the residents of Clichy are immigrants who face discrimination and unemployment that runs to 25 percent -- more than twice the national average. Those who work in the community say young people are frustrated and angry. "There are no factories. There are no jobs for anyone. There are no job centers," said Mark Nadaud, a volunteer youth counselor. "And when you go to look for a job and you say you are from here and they don't want take you."

SO... what we are supposed to believe is that PARIS has so so so SO much DISCRIMINATION against these Muslims that they MUST riot - to express themselves. Hmmmmm.

And yet, there's NO RIOTING elsewhere in France. Hmmm... even though there's high unemployment all over France. Hmmm...

And Paris is a SOCIALIST stronghold - it's mayor a gay Socialist. Hmmm...

And in the parts of France where the right-wing is strongest, where Jean Le Pen and his National Front Party get majorities - there is NO RIOTING AT ALL. Hmmm...

Yet the Left paints Le Pen and these areas as racist. Hmmm... Maybe PARIS and the SOCIALISTS are the REAL racists. It would seem so, if Bitterman's "Conventionally Wise" reportage is accurate. In other words, IF CNN's Bitterman and the converntional wisdom the "CW" - is correct, then predominantly socialist Paris is actually a major stronghold of racism and discrimination, and it's their racism and discrimination which have CAUSED the rioting. (The rioters themselves are blameless; their automatons who can't control their own behaivior!)

AND THEN THERE'S THIS ANGLE: how can UNEMPLOYMENT be the cause of rioting when France has very VERY high unemployment which cuts across regions and races and creeds, and also has VERY GENEROUS UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS!? These benefits mean that these unemployed Muslims are getting generous help from the state. The state they attack.

Perhaps all this "CW" IS REALLY "BS."

Perhaps the TRUE ROOT CAUSE of the rioting is NOT racism or discrimination or high unemployment. I suggest that the root cause is an ideology of hate. An ideology that PROMOTES war against infidels. YES: perhaps the cause of the riots is islamofascism.

It seems to me that if the enlightened Parisians oppose the notion that they are extremely racist -- and that it is that their racism which prevents these otherwise diligent and conscientious Muslims from gaining employment, and that it is this frustration at being unable to work a 40 hours week (and instead get GENEROUS unemployment insurance) which causes riots - that they should then consider my suggested explanation - that the true root cause is islamofascism. And they support Sarkozy's hard-line.

Either they do become more hawkish and less tolerant of islamo-intolerance, or in a decade or two there will be a muezzin atop the Eiffel Tower calling Parisians to prayer 5 times a day at the Mosque du Notre Dame.

The CW explanation of the causes of this rioting should be seen as an affront to ALL unemployed people and to all poor people. Poor people - and people looking for work - are at least as moral as anyone else. All criminals are not poor, and all poor people are not criminals. The CW of the root causes of the Parisian rioting is as ridiculous as blaming a battered wife for the beating she gets at the hands of her abusive husband - who tells the cops that "she had it coming to her." Her failure to do right by him is not the root cause of the battery.

The Left is also like a battered wife - one who has yet to leave her abusive husband and seek help.

The first step is to recognize that the time for making excuses for the abuser MUST END!

These actions are clearly an act of war, and deserve to be treated as such. They won't treated as such until the time is most ripe - from OUR POV. And the table ain't competely set, YET.

I predict we will neutralize Iran as a meddler in Iraq - and as a potential nuclear power - not later than January 2007. About a year after we will have neutralized the murderous Assad regime. And have Iran COMPLETELY isolated and surrounded.

Now, of course the Democrats would have you believe that Saddam's WMD's were a figment of KKKarl Rove's evil imagination, a lie fabricated to do a horrible thing: RE-ELECT BUSH - and NOT to liberate Iraqis from genocidal tryant. And they say this as the LIBERATED Iraqi people move RAPIDLY toward democracy. Sheesh.

Tehran's senior diplomats in the UK, France, Germany and at the United Nations in Geneva are being replaced. The ambassadors were closely involved in negotiations over Iran's nuclear programme under former President Mohammed Khatami. The move is likely to signal a tough new approach to the stalled nuclear issue, correspondents say.

This is as much a reaction to the UNSCR against Iran's principle ally Syria as anything. OUR NEXT MOVE: We need to table a motion against Iran at the UNSCR.

WHICH IS THE QUAGMIRE, KOSOVO OR IRAQ?

DAILY DEMARCHE:

The "Paper of Record", late last week, ran an editorial entitled "Kosovo, Still Messy After All These Years" lamenting the failure of the U.N. efforts there to produce a lasting peace with real results. What I love about this piece is that when the U.N. is involved and six years have passed and there is nothing to show for it the results are "messy." When George Bush frees Iraq, successful elections are held and a constitution is overwhelmingly approved (and underwhelmigly reported) in a fraction of that time, the result is a "quagmire." Just for giggles I searched for "quagmire+Iraq" on the times web site and got 271 hits. "Kosovo+quagmire" returned 42 hits, at least seven of which also contained the word Iraq. I stopped counting after that. Why beat a dead horse?

Of course there are two OBVIOUS reasons that the Left - and the MSM they still dominate - maintain that Iraq is the "real" quagmire: (1) it was done by a GOP president; and (2) we've been suffering casualties on the ground, every week - for 2.5 years. (Kosovo was part of Serbia, a nation we PREEMPTIVELY ATTACKED WHEN WE HAD A DEMOCRAT PRESIDENT; AND HE DID IT WITHOUT - REPEAT WITHOUT CONGRESSIONAL APPROVAL! But the dem-left doesn't say a peep about Kosovo!)

One major reason is that we are suffering casualties in Iraq.

Blowhard jerkoff and former Dem-lib political operative CHRIS MATTHEWS tonight called these casualties HORRIFIC. I know that to each family each loss is horrific, but to the USA and to the future generations these losses are:

(A) NOT horrific - not by ANY historical measure or standard (we lost 20x more in IWO JIMA ALONE!) And we have liberated more people and more territory with fewer losses in Iraq than in ANY previous war in all of human history!); and

(B) OBL specifically stepped up attacks against the USA and our allies after Somalia (and with VIETNAM as the arch-template) because he believed that he and his islamofascist allies could win ANY war against the USA if it MERELEY inflicted casualties; OBL thought we'd cut and run as soon as the going got tough.

Therefore, winning in Iraq while sustaining casualties is DOUBLY important for the USA: (1) we begin liberating a vital region from tyranny and poverty (draining the proverbial swamp); and (2) we send the signal to our enemies that we WILL fight, and we WILL stick it out until we win, (which should make them think TWICE before instigating trouble against us); and (3) we put pressure on Libya - and Kaddafy caves, we put pressure on Syria and they exit Lebanon, and we pressure Assad EVEN more - and he might be about 2-3 months from going into exile!), and (4) we isolate and surround Iran surround Iran. And we get a field-tested battle-hardened military that's more ready to rumble than any other ion the entire world - and THAT's also a great deterrent!

So, the benefits of the Iraq War are HUGE!

Yup folks: THIS IS NO QUAGMIRE; IT'S A GREAT HISTORICAL TURNING POINT!

BOTOM-LINE: The political process in Iraq is going very well - by ANY historical standard.
It is CERTAIN to lead to eventually to a stable democratic republic of Iraq which will be a staunch ally of the USA.

The Dem-Left will never live down the shame that they opposed it.

Tension had mounted throughout the day after angry young men torched cars, garbage bins and even a primary school in several days of rioting that highlighted the division between France's big cities and their poor satellites where disenchantment thrives. ... Suburbs that ring France's big cities, home to immigrant communities often from Muslim North Africa, suffer soaring unemployment and discrimination. Disenchantment and anger thrive in the tall cinderblock towers and long "bars" that make up the projects.

France has arrived at the crossroad - and it's right in Paris! They either push back the intifada or resign to becoming the 21st century version of Constantinople - now known as ISTANBUL.

The MOMENT OF TRUTH will come when the Muslims there step up their attacks and either shoot down a pasenger jet or crash one into the Eiffel Tower, or if they merely blow up several Metro trains one day (as they have in Madrid and London). Then the French will have to decide if they want to become more Anglo - and FIGHT BACK - or if they'd prefer to cower and appease the islamofascists - like Post-Atocha Spain did by electing the socialist Zapotero.

I have a feeling the most critical political contest for France's future will be the one leading up to the next presidential race - in 2007: the critical contest will be the primary battle between Villepin (and his anti-American foreign policies and his preference for appeasement of America's enemies), and Sarkozy (who has embraced Anglo-American economic and foreign policies).

If Sarkozy loses France loses, and Paris might very well become Paristanbul.

NOTE: right now, France is helping us squeeze Assad, but this might be all show - as was their support of UNSCR#1441. Crunchtime is fast approaching for Assad - and France. STAY TUNED!

THE CRUX OF THE WMD INTEL DEBATE, AND THE SENATE'S "SECRET SESSION" KERFUFFLE

The whole dang thing comes down to this:

There were some doubts as to what EXACLTY was the status of Saddam's WMD programs. Saddam liked that doubt - it was part of his defense posture meant to keep foes tentative about attacking him.

In the post-9/11 world - Bush was NOT gonna let Saddam have the benefit of the doubt any longer.

The Dems attacking Bush NOW for twisting the WMD intel THEN are using 20/20 HINDSIGHT to say that Bush was not making a mistake (when he argued that Saddam must have WMD's), but a PREMEDITATED EFFORT TO MISLEAD us into war.

Well, apart from the fact that hindsight is always 20/20, it seems IMPOSSIBLE to me that Bush could have misled the world's ENTIRE intel community, (ALL of whom thought Saddam had WMD), or that ANYTHING he said in the SOTU delivered in January 2003 could have misled any Congressman into authorizing the war since they authorized waging war on Saddam in OCTOBER 2002.

On top of that, the Brits have re-examined their intel and determined that the 16 words Bush related in the SOTU are still true; Brit intel MAINTAINS to this day that Saddam SOUGHT uranium in Africa.

In addition, the case for war was NOT limited to a nuclear program or even WMD's; there were a LITANY of reasosn Bush gave OVER AND OVER AND OVER again before Congress gave him authority to wage war on Saddam - and they are ALL listed in the Congressional Joint Res. #141. LOOK IT UP. He also listed them in his speech to the UNGA in September of 2002. Look that up too.

Therefore this whole kerfuffle in the Senate about WMD's and the case for war is STUPID.

ON TOP OF THAT, as Iraq becomes a viable democracy, and as that great accomplishment has a greater positive effect in the entire Middle East (IT ALREADY HAS!), Democrat carping about the war seems even STUPIDER.

The Dems should either ADMIT that if they were in pwer they'd appease every sadistic tyrant - and give them benefit of the doubt, (unless he was a member of the GOP! HEH!), or they should just MOVE ON!

PARIS INTIFADA - DAY 5

Fifth night of unrest in Paris suburb: Police fired tear gas canisters and rioters hurled Molotov cocktails as violence hit a poor Paris suburb for the fifth straight night in unrest that officials said on Tuesday had also spread to neighbouring towns.

(The suburbs of Paris are like other cities' slums - only the Parisian slums are mostly Muslim. )

"There are some gangs and traffickers who are living off the underground economy, off drug trafficking, who seem to think these neighbourhoods are beyond the authorities' reach, " he said on television on Sunday. ... said the situation in some deprived neighbourhoods had been deteriorating "for 30 years" and had to be tackled firmly. More than 30 people were under arrest last night in the rundown northeastern district of Clichy-sous-Bois after some of the most violent clashes between riot police and mainly immigrant youths that the country has seen for some years.
