DOBSON WILL ELECT HILLARY AT THIS RATE

I love and adore Dr. James Dobson and I always will. As I've said in the past I consider him to be a spiritual and political mentor. Yet, it pains me to see the path that he is headed down. He is buying into the "all or nothing" mentality that I have talked about in the past. He is going to end up with nothing because he is upset about not finding the "perfect" candidate. First, he rejected and said he couldn't support McCain and Rudy. Then he expressed displeasure with Fred Thompson and now there is talk that he may go looking for a 3rd party candidate.

I am pretty disturbed by all of this because if Dobson supports a 3rd candidate and enough people follow, Hillary Clinton is sure to be our next President. I will hold Dobson and the other Christian leaders partially responsible for electing Hillary. Bill Clinton would never have won either of his presidential elections had it not been for Ross Perot.

As I was thinking about all of this along with Clarence Thomas this week, something hit me. Many conservatives were unhappy with George Bush Sr. (myself included) but had he been thrown under the bus during his first election like he was during the 2nd we would've never gotten one of the most stellar supreme court justices ever, Clarence Thomas. That is something we need to seriously think about. Bush Sr. may not have been the ideal candidate (especially compared to Reagan) but he gave us Clarence Thomas and protected the country from a Michael Dukakis presidency.

I think the same could be said of Rudy. He may not be the ideal candidate but he will appoint stellar supreme court justices and will protect this country from terrorists. He would be 10 times better as President than Hillary would on so many different levels. Yet, if too many on our side subscribe to the "all or nothing" thinking they will help ensure that Hillary becomes President in 2008. Those pro-lifers that refuse to vote for Rudy or another Republican will help ensure that babies are less safe with Hillary. She will appoint Moveon.org & ACLU type justices to the supreme court that will actively work to promote abortion among many other issues.

Reliapundit points out that he has issues with all the GOP candidates but would vote for any of them over the Democrats. He gives 3 different scenarios of what the White House could look like in 2009. If too many people don't vote or pick a 3rd party candidate we are going to get his 3rd scenario, God help us all if that happens.

Too much is at stake in 2008 to vote for someone who will only ensure Hillary becomes president.

Ethically, causes do not come much clearer than this one.

Democrat Barack Obama called for ridding the world of nuclear weapons Tuesday and offered his early opposition to the Iraq war as evidence of sound judgment that trumps his lack of Washington experience.

Three senior House Democrats proposed an income tax surcharge Tuesday to finance the approximately $150 billion annual cost of operations in Iraq, saying it is unfair to pass the cost of the war on to future generations.

The plan, unveiled by Reps. David Obey, D-Wis., John Murtha, D-Pa., and Jim McGovern, D-Mass., would require low- and middle-income taxpayers to add 2 percent to their tax bill. Wealthier people would add a 12 to 15 percent surcharge, Obey said.

Is it Racist to Point out Ethnic Favoritism?

The major Israeli newspaper excerpted below thinks not:

"The news that a British law firm is reviewing newspaper coverage of Avraham Grant's appointment as Chelsea manager for racist content should set alarm bells ringing in the United Kingdom. If such a case were to go to court, newspapers could be tried under the Religious and Racial Hatred Act 2006, which prevents incitement to racial hatred.

If it is shown that a newspaper has printed articles that are genuinely racist - that is that they have claimed that Avraham Grant is an unsuitable manager because he is Jewish - then one could understand that a case should be brought against it.

However, the law firm, Teacher Stern Selby, has stated that it is looking into "what may appear to be racist overtones." The gist of this seems to be that some journalists and commentators have suggested that Grant got the job because of his Israeli-Russian heritage.

Since Avraham Grant's arrival in Britain, after a career in the backwaters of football management, he has worked under a Russian Jewish owner at Portsmouth, Alexandre Gaydamak, the son of Betar Jersualem owner Arkady Gaydamak, and then with a Russian Jew at Chelsea, Roman Abramovich.

In the 13 months he has worked in the UK up until last week, he had no experience managing either club. Given the history of fraternalization that exists in both Israel and in Russia, it seems logical to at least question Grant's spectacular rise to power.... However, it seems to be stretching the meaning of the law to claim that journalists who draw this connection are inciting racial hatred.

If Teacher Stern Selby takes this case to court on what has so far been published in the British press, it will indicate that, far from protecting Britain from racial discrimination, the new law could be used in such a way that journalists are afraid to point out discrimination when it is carried out by a minority group, a clear perversion of its original intent.

TIKKUN FAILS TO LOOK IN THE MIRROR

Does this sound like a pretty good comment on the Left?

"What we are suggesting is that being stuck in a doctrinal belief system which is intolerant of another's personal interpretation, or one which disregards facts and foments intolerance of others while setting its followers apart as elite and uniquely special, is a move away from our full potential and from the kind of reasoning that has brought humanity its marvelous advances"

That statement is an only slightly edited version of a passage from a long article in "Tikkun" -- a Left-wing Jewish periodical with vague pretensions to being religious. It is meant to apply to religious fundamentalists and is basically an attack on fundamentalist Christians and Jews.

The theme of the article is that the Christans and Jews concerned are "rigid" in their beliefs. They are incapable of changing their views in response to new evidence. Does that sound like anyone you know? Does it sound like people who blame "poverty" for everything, even Islamic hostility to the West? DESPITE the fact that Bin Laden is a billionaire and most of the 9/11 hijackers were thoroughly middle-class?

Tikkun also seems to be unaware that the concept of mental rigidity has been actively researched by psychologists since before WWII and in fact originates with the Nazi psychologist Jaensch. Nazism and Communism are siblings, however, so it is not particularly surprising that the transplanted German Jewish Marxist theoretician Theodor Wiesengrund (aka Adorno) carried on the Jaensch research after the war, making much of it in his co-authored 1950 book "The Authoritarian Personality". Wiesengrund also thought that it was conservatives who are mentally rigid.

The Wiesengrund/Adorno theory attracted a lot of attention and follow-up research and the outcome of that research was precisely the opposite of what Tikkun asserts. Far from being a general attribute with deep roots in the architecture of the brain, rigidity was in fact found to be highly situational. People who were rigid in one way were often not at all rigid in other ways.

So mental rigidity does exist. We would hardly have Leftism otherwise. But rigidity in political or religious matters does NOT imply a general handicap or trait of rigidity. People who are rigid in their politics can easily be very flexible in other ways. And the "flexibility" of Leftists when it comes to morality of any sort is a good example of that.

Yet, Harry Reid, Dick Durbin and Harkin had the audacity to take the completely false smear that Media Matters created and talk about it on the floor of Congress as if it were fact. This from the very traitors who have done nothing but undermine and trash our troops. I really don't know how they can say this stuff with a straight face and I certainly don't know how they sleep at night!!

Then they want others to condemn Rush and are trying to get us to believe that Rush somehow insulted our troops. He was talking about one person, Jesse Macbeth, who had been in the military for 6 weeks and didn't even make it through basic training. He was a phony soldier because he was pretending to have fought in Iraq and said he got a purple heart and then was being used by the left as a propaganda tool saying he had killed innocent civilians. It was all a fabrication and a lie, making him indeed a phony soldier as ABC pointed out on the special they did on phony soldiers.

Nicolas Sarkozy to stay at Bush's residence in Washington in November :

President George W. Bush will host French President Nicolas Sarkozy in Washington in November. The specific date of the visit has not been announced.

Also in November, Bush and his wife, Laura, are planning to host German Chancellor Angela Merkel for two days at the president's ranch in Crawford, Texas. That visit will happen on Nov. 9-10, with an agenda covering NATO, the war in Afghanistan and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Merkel is one of Bush's closest European colleagues; Sarkozy and Bush are still forming a bond, and the new French leader is seen as Bush's last chance to renew relations with France. Sarkozy was treated to an all-American lunch, a ride on a speed boat and an introduction to the whole Bush family in August.

Bush's parents own an Atlantic oceanfront estate in Maine, and the president used all the trappings to make Sarkozy feel welcome.

The US troops killed seven terrorists and detained 11 suspects Sunday and Monday during operations to disrupt Al-Qaeda in Iraq leadership in central and northern Iraq, a US military statement said on Monday.

The operations included West of Tarmiyah, Mosul, south Baghdad and Hamrin Mountains in Dyal, the statement added.

Among the dead were some of al-Qaeda senior leaders in the targeted areas. The troops also found huge amounts of weapons and explosives.

UK: SMOKERS AND THE OBESE DENIED CARE BY NHS

UK GUARDIAN:

One in 10 NHS trusts restricts operations for obese people or smokers, according to a TV investigation.

Sixteen of the 152 primary care trusts (PCTs) in England have policies restricting non-emergency surgery such as hip replacements, according to a report on ITV1's Tonight With Trevor McDonald programme.

Out those, eight PCTs had restrictions based on a patient's weight; one restricted surgery to smokers; and a further seven NHS trusts restricted operations to smokers and to obese patients.

Guidelines published by the government's drug rationing body, the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, allow trusts to take patients' lifestyles into account in deciding if a treatment would be effective.

But critics interviewed for the programme, Too Fat For Treatment, said care was being restricted on the basis of poor evidence or on financial grounds.
