A Facebook thread reminded me of a scenario I'd been thinking about (and, no I don't hang out on Facebook - it showed up in a Google search. I promise!! *voice cracking*)...

1) Hillary and Barack go into the DNC with Obama holding a small lead
2) The 796 super-delegates decide the presidency in a smoke-filled backroom... and Hillary emerges the victor
3) A Democratic Civil War breaks out

Peggy Noonan asked an excellent question a few days ago: does Hillary Clinton know how to lose?

If she loses the nomination, does she gracefully withdraw? Does she know how? Or would she wage an intense legal battle from sea to shining sea?

I think we all know the answer to this question.

I guess we’re just going to have to get used to this sort of after-the-fact crying foul in every single election involving a Democrat... It’s not just one diary on Kos. Here’s another. The Obama campaign itself has made the claim of “more than 200 voting irregularities” in Nevada... We never hear anything like this on the Republican side.

For those who think it's a foregone conclusion that Obama would accept an offer of the Veep slot from Hillary, here's some food for thought.

* Co-presidents: the role of VP in a Clinton co-presidency would be devastatingly slim. Consider Al Gore.

* Track record of Veeps: the track record of VPs moving on to the Presidency isn't a stellar one.

* Eight year wait: Obama's choice -- sit for as long as eight years as a third player in the White House... or secretly undermine Hillary in the '08 general election to ensure a GOP victory; and then come out swinging in 2012 (perhaps against a 75 year-old McCain).

If these thought processes are going through Obama's head, I think odds are better than 50-50 that we could see a Hillary-Edwards ticket. You heard it here first.

Major props to Gateway Pundit for tracking down New Hampshire's Marianne Pernold Young. You may recall that Ms. Young asked the critical question ("How do you do it? How do you keep up ... and who does your hair?") that triggered an emotional choke-up by Sen. Clinton.

Reminiscent of CNN's "undecided voters" during the Democratic debate, Marianne appears to be a cool, calculated plant.

Marianne Pernold-Young, who is married to E. Gordon Young and lives in Portsmouth, has hosted events for the Clintons!

The million dollar "how are you doing" question was actually posed by an acquaintance of Marianne Pernold-Young. She is a freelance photographer who in the past has hosted events for both Clintons.

But, after her question this week she said she does not know anyone from the Clinton campaign. And Marianne told the New York Daily News the right things about Hillary...

"No, I was not a plant," she told The Mouth afterward in a phone call... "I asked her as a girlfriend. All my friends keep asking, how does she do it? How does she do it? How does she look so put together?" Pernold Young says. "I had no idea she would react that way."

Uhm, yeah. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Of course, there could be another explanation...

Hilary Clinton is a light-weight who doesn't deserve to be taken seriously

Lookit folks: she was a freakin' first lady for 8 years; that's all - and she was a "GRADE A" bitch during the time she tried to socialize the healthcare industry.

She traded on that CELEBRITY to become the US Senator from the most left-wing state in the union. BIG FRIGGIN' DEAL.

Before that she a was a do-nothing first lady of a southern governor who was shaggin' whatever he could.

She's about as qualified to be president of the USA as the pimple on my ass.

YORKSHIRE TODAY: Pensioner is refused sight drugs – until he goes blind

A RETIRED policeman is going blind – because a Yorkshire health trust will not pay for treatment that could save his sight. Leslie Howard, also an ex-Royal Military policeman and former prison officer, suffers from a degenerative eye condition. The drugs needed to save his sight are available on the NHS in other parts of the country.

But Mr Howard, 76, has been told by health chiefs not to expect a penny of NHS treatment until he goes blind in one eye and starts losing sight in the other.

He fears that after a lifetime of public service the decision by North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust could plunge him into total blindness and leave him and his invalid wife Mary Ann, 70, housebound.

As his case led to a new row over NHS "health rationing", Mr Howard, of Acomb, York, said: "The problem is we have lived too long and are just pieces of meat now – a nuisance.

"I was advised to go private but was quoted £1,000 an injection for who knows how many injections. I can't afford that kind of money. I've paid tens of thousands of pounds in taxes and to know that I will now lose my sight because I can't afford private treatment is diabolical."

U.S. presidential candidate Bill Richardson left Saturday for North Korea, part of a delegation of past and present U.S. officials on what was described as a humanitarian mission to claim the remains of American soldiers killed in the Korean War.

The four-day trip also is meant to draw attention to the Democrat's underdog bid for the presidency and to highlight his extensive foreign policy experience, which includes negotiating trips to hot spots around the world and serving as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations during President Bill Clinton's administration. He is now the governor of the state of New Mexico.

As with many of Richardson's freelance diplomatic missions, this one benefits from fortunate timing. Endorsed by President George W. Bush's Republican administration, it comes days before a crucial deadline in a landmark nuclear accord the North agreed to in February, four months after testing a nuclear weapon.

UNLIKE PELOSI'S DANGEROUS AND LAW-BREAKING "FOREIGN POLICY FREE-LANCING", RICHARDSON IS ACTING IN CONCERT WITH THE ELECTED PRESIDENT. BRAVO.

HOUSE DEFEATOCRATS PROVE WHY LEGISLATORS MAKE LOUSY PRESIDENTS

The bill the Defeatocrats in the House passed was all about putting partisan politics and political posing above our national security and ahead of the safety and effectiveness of our troops serviong in harm's way.

The Defeatocrats would rather send a message of APPEASEMENT to their LOONY LEFT BASE - and the JIHADIST ENEMY, than do what is responsible.

And they think they can get away with it because they KNOW that Bush will veto it.

This is why the vote was the HEIGHT OF POLITICAL CYNICISM AND BLATANT PANDERING.

And it is par for the course in a legislature which is usually more focused on how votes PLAY in the home district, than how they play out in the world at large.

Presidents - and governors - have to make many real hard decisions, and their decisions are not merely votes on bills: EXECUTIVE decisions have serious repercussions in the REAL WORLD, and effect REAL PEOPLE.

Voters instinctively knows this. That's why the USA has elected so few legislators to the presidency. GOOD THING! If this remains true in 2008, it means that only Rudy and Romney have a real chance at winning the WH for the GOP, and only Bill Richardson has a chance at winning it for the Dems. (Or John Warner shouod he decide to get back into the race.)

A Kennedy program helped bring Obama’s father to the United States? Really? According to Obama’s first book,

He eventually won a scholarship to study in Nairobi; and then, on the eve of Kenyan independence, he was selected by Kenyan leaders and American sponsors to attend a university in the United States, joining the first large wave of Africans to be sent forth to master Western technology and bring it back to forge a new, modern Africa.

In 1959, at the age of 23, he arrived at the University of Hawaii – the first African student there.

As for his parents getting together in part because of what was stirring from Selma, Bloody Sunday happened on March 7, 1965. Obama was born August 4, 1961.

In fairness, he does link Selma to Birmingham a minute or two earlier in the clip — but even if you stretch the timeline to account for that, the major civil rights events in Birmingham happened in 1963, still two years after he was born.

Maybe he meant Montgomery?

WILL BILL HURT HILLARY'S CAMPAIGN?

To me the obvious answer to that question is duh!! I don't know how Bill doesn't inevitably cause some kind of scandal for Hillary. Whether its past, present or future indiscretions, Bill is sure to create some kind of negative press. I think the recent criticism by uber-liberal Geffen has taken the Clintons off guard though. They expect attacks by all of us right wing extremists but to be eaten by one of their own so early has them a little off kilter.

This article points out how Hillary isn't even open to discussing how Bill could negatively affect her campaign. You can smell the fear! Wouldn't you love to hear the threats by Hillary if Bill embarrasses her for the umpteenth time? She may get the sympathy, victim nod from people while being the first lady but not as a candidate for president. If she sticks by Bill after the 300th indiscretion she either looks weak or like a woman who will sacrifice every shred of human decency to gain power. The latter is definitely true but the new voters just now coming of age haven't been made aware of that yet.

In all honesty, I want Hillary to get the Dem nomination. I think almost anyone else would be a bigger threat for Republicans. That said, I am going to break out the popcorn and enjoy the view while we watch Obama and other naive Dems walk into the Lion's Den, also known as the Clinton Hit Machine. Obama held his own in round 1, I am eager to see round 2. I am also eager to watch how Slick Willie avoids stepping in it during these next 2 years. As Kevin Bacon said in A Few Good Men, "...its going to be entertaining."
