Michael Graham, blogging at The Natural Truth, brings us this disgusting but not surprising story about how CNN coached its anchors to treat the subject of fidel castro in an early morning email today.

I can now confirm independently that not only did such an email go out, here it is in its entirety:

Some points on Castro – for adding to our anchor reads/reporting:

* Please say in our reporting that Castro stepped down in a letter he wrote to Granma (the communist party daily), as opposed to in a letter attributed to Fidel Castro. We have no reason to doubt he wrote his resignation letter, he has penned numerous articles over the past year and a half.

* Please note Fidel did bring social reforms to Cuba – namely free education and universal health care, and racial integration. in addition to being criticized for oppressing human rights and freedom of speech.

THIS LAST PARAGRAPH IS ALMOST IDENTICAL TO WHAT THE NYTIMES WROTE:

His record has been a mix of great social achievements, but a dismal economic performance that has mired most Cubans in poverty.

He succeeded in establishing universal health care, providing free education through college and largely rooting out racism.

But he never broke the island's dependence on commodities like sugar, tobacco and nickel, nor did he succeed in industrializing the nation so that Cuba could compete in the world market with durable goods.

Since the fall of the Soviet Union and the end of its aid to the island, Cuba has limped along economically, relying mostly on tourism and money sent home from exiles to get hard currency.

Very similar. Like Deval-Obama similar! I think the NYTIMES set the tone for the rest of the left-wing MSM to follow - they do almost everyday. The CNN memo is merely an instant when they got caught.

Redacted: CNN's transcript of the Democratic Debate

CNN's entire Democratic debate appears to have been a sham from the first minute to the last.

And now it's been nearly a week and LaShannon Spencer -- one of CNN's "undecided voters" (and former political director for the Democratic Party in Arkansas, which CNN forgot to mention) -- remains missing from the transcript of the Las Vegas debate.

Redacted is in the news, only it's the concept that CNN is cleaning up its post-debate mess and not the movie.

But it's only been a week. Perhaps CNN needs more time to finish up its "rush" transcript.

CNN alters debate transcript

CNN's Democratic debate last week -- hosted by Wolf Blitzer -- appears to be nothing more than an infomercial designed to shield Hillary Clinton from tough questions. All six of the "ordinary people, undecided voters" who were selected to ask questions appear to be Democratic operatives.

For example, ordinary citizen LaShannon Spencer was a randomly selected participant in the Democratic debate on Thursday. She was described as one of several "undecided voters", but her presence has now been utterly purged from CNN's transcript of the event.

Her debate performance now lives on only in my mind. Oh, and also in the International Herald-Tribune version of the transcript.

CNN identified her only as a member of the First African Methodist Church and not as a director of political affairs for the Democratic Party of Arkansas. Spencer was also associated with the Kerry-Edwards campaign and a member of the Arkansas Democratic Delegation in 2004. But she's just another ordinary citizen, just like you or me.

As Dan Riehl says, you can't spell Clinton without CNN. But what's their point in altering the transcript? It's all too little, too late.

Update: Received an anonymous message that deserves attention:

I guess in a city of almost 2 million, CNN couldn't find just one stay-at-home minivan mom, a cocktail waitress, an insurance salesman, a plumber, a bank manager, or even a librarian in the audience to ask their scripted questions.

What a sham. This was nothing more than an over-produced infomercial. No genuine exchange of political ideas.

A RANT ON THE YOUTUBE-CNN DEMOCRAT DEBATE

I swear to G-d!!! If any of these men (or Hillary) becomes president I am going to have to seriously consider prescription drugs. Paris, I mean, Anderson Cooper asks for a show of hands "Who took a private jet here tonight?" I knew, knew, knew that someone would not raise their hand and say they didn't do so because "they arrived last night." HA! So funny I forgot to laugh. Yes, it's really funny to lie like Bill Clinton isn't it? It's all just a big joke, right?

So they let people from YouTube (after some censoring) ask the candidates question. Naturally, you had some, shall we say, unorthodox questions and questioners. That doesn't bother me. It was to be expected. What does bother me is the fact that these people actually asked better questions than Chris Matthews when he's having a good day.

But what does it matter? It's not like these guys are debating the future. Best question of the night (whether he meant the double meaning or not): "Can you as politicians ... actually answer questions rather than beat around the bush?" They all lied and said "yes" but the answer was really "no." No, they're running against George W. Bush, whether it's Iraq, Katrina (don't get me started on that one) or...well, I guess that's it. The economy is dynamite. Anyway, how about a candidate that says "I don't think we should have gone to Iraq, but we did, and now we have to find a way to finish what we started." Nope, we're told by these geniuses that we shouldn't have invaded Iraq and now we need to leave Iraq and pretend it never happened. Hey, what's another Cambodia amongst friends, right? Hell, after we leave Iraq we can send Noam Chomsky over there to assure the world that utopia is at hand. Take that Michael Yon!!

See? The classics never die.

This group of "Democrats," "Liberals," "Progressives," or whatever Orwellian name they want to label themselves, are very, very dangerous. Now, despite my mood at this moment, I'm not prepared to say that if one of them is elected, our country is wrecked. Admit it, many of us thought this to be the case when Bill Clinton was elected, and indeed, his presidency was very damaging, but it goes to show you the amazing strength and resilience of the United States of America that it is able to survive anything thrown at it, whether it's Nazism or Leninism from overseas or the utter incompetence of a Jimmy Carter right in the seat of power.

America is the greatest country in history and it achieves greatness when it is left to its own devices. Every. Single. Democrat. Candidate. wants to stand in America's way.

Don't let them.
