With his wife's new job, Clinton can't earn anywhere close to last year's $6 million in speaking fees, but he's free to hang with all sorts of glamorous folks: Will.I.Am, Jessica Alba, Mike Myers and Sarah Silverman at a Hollywood fundraiser for his foundation last month; Fran Drescher, Eva Longoria Parker, Pamela Anderson and Katy Perry at the Life Ball benefit in Vienna last Saturday; Sharon Stone, Harvey Weinstein and Annie Lennox at an AIDS charity dinner tomorrow at the Cannes Film Festival, where he'll auction off his saxophone.

Building a harem? The women are flocking to him - certain women, that is.

Of course, the WaPo had to praise Slick Willie's new appoinment as special envoy to Haiti:

Wonder how Hillary feels about all his traveling with women hanging all over him? Maybe she's too busy or too busy watching her own back to care.

UBL's driver: Clinton administration 'emboldened' Bin Laden

McClatchy's Carol Rosenberg notes testimony from an Al Qaeda operative that highlights the Clinton administration's lackadaisacal approach to fighting terrorism as a direct contributor to 9/11.

...Osama bin Laden's driver told a pair of FBI agents that it was America's fault that the al Qaida leader was alive...

The United States could have killed bin Laden in Khartoum, Sudan, before he moved to Afghanistan in 1996, Hamdan told his interrogators. They could have killed him after al Qaida's 1998 twin bombings at the U.S. Embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania. Or after the October 2000 suicide bombing of the USS Cole, at the port of Aden in Yemen, which left 17 U.S. sailors dead.

Instead, ''Bin Laden was emboldened.'' So he struck with the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, leaving nearly 3,000 dead.

Richard Miniter already demonstrated -- beyond a shadow of a doubt -- that the Clinton administration's inaction led directly to 9/11.

This testimony is simply further damning evidence that Miniter was spot on in his conclusions.

We can thank Bill Clinton and Sandy Berger (he of the immense cover-up that the nuts known as 9/11 "Truthers" curiously choose to ignore) for 9/11.

Word to the wise when voting in 2008: we tried the Democratic approach to fighting terrorism prior to 9/11. The results were thousands of innocents dead on American soil.

In an age in which Iran will likely equip its terrorist proxies with nuclear devices, another Democratic administration could very well be catastrophic.

The Saudi investments in Bill and Hillary Clinton

Democratic Underground certainly comes in handy from time to time. This post, which describes the Clintons' eight-figure ties to the Saudis, deserves investigation.

...when we learn that the Saudis were... 'donating' to the Clintons, we need to ask ourselves, how much... and what did they get in return?

Bill Clinton's presidential library raised more than 10 percent of the cost of its $165 million facility from foreign sources, with the most generous overseas donation coming from Saudi Arabia, according to interviews yesterday.

The royal family of Saudi Arabia gave the Clinton facility in Little Rock about $10 million... according to people directly familiar with the contributions...

Craig Unger, the author of House of Bush/House of Saud ...claimes ... "Finally, it is worth pointing out, as Craig Unger does in his book, that Saudi Arabia has not just contributed to the Bush family. According to Unger, Bill Clinton approached Prince Bandar in 1991 for $20 million to launch a Middle East studies program at the University of Arkansas and that Prince Bandar announced that the request was approved shortly before Bill Clinton won the presidential election...

...There may be some irony in that, by Unger's own account, Saudi Arabia has contributed eight times as much to Bill Clinton's charities than to George H.W. So what did the Saudis get in return ? ...Did the Clintons think that the money was 'no strings attached' ? ..of course not..the favors would start to roll...

The Clinton administration shut down a 1995 investigation of Islamic charities, concerned that a public probe would expose Saudi Arabia's suspected ties to a global money-laundering operation that raised millions for anti-Israel terrorists, federal officials told The Washington Times.... If federal agents had been allowed to conduct the investigation they wanted in 1995, they would have made the connection between the Saudi government and those charities," said Mr. Loftus, now a St. Petersburg, Fla., lawyer who filed a lawsuit last week accusing a Florida charity of fraud...

"Had the charities been shut down, they would have been unable to raise the millions that since have been used by terrorists in hundreds of suicide attacks," he said...

Following the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, Clinton hunted Osama with a passion -- but a passion circumscribed by the desire to protect the sheikdom sitting atop our oil lifeline. In 1994, a Saudi diplomat defected to the United States with 14,000 pages of documents from the kingdom's sealed file cabinets. This mother lode of intelligence included evidence of plans for the assassination of Saudi opponents living in the West and, tantalizingly, details of the $7 billion the Saudis gave to Saddam Hussein for his nuclear program -- the first attempt to build an Islamic Bomb...

The Saudi government, according to the defector, Mohammed Al Khilewi, slipped Saddam the nuclear loot [...thinking...] he would only use the bomb to vaporize Iranians... Clinton granted the Saudi defector asylum, but barred the FBI from looking at the documents.

Al Khilewi's New York lawyer, Michael Wildes, told me he was stunned. Wildes handles some of America's most security-sensitive asylum cases. "We said to the FBI, 'Here, take the documents! Go get some bad guys with them! We'll even pay for the photocopying!'" But the agents who came to his office had been ordered not to accept evidence of Saudi criminal activity, even on U.S. soil.

In 1997, the Canadians caught and extradited to America one of the Khobar Towers attackers. In 1999, Vernon Jordan's law firm stepped in and -- poof! -- the killer was shipped back to Saudi Arabia before he could reveal all he knew about al Qaeda (valuable) and the Saudis (embarrassing). I reviewed, but was not permitted to take notes on, the alleged terrorist's debriefing by the FBI. To my admittedly inexpert eyes, there was enough on al Qaeda to make him a source on terrorists worth holding on to. Not that he was set free -- he's in one of the kingdom's dungeons -- but his info is sealed up with him. The terrorist's extradition was "Clinton's." "Clinton's parting kiss to the Saudis," as one insider put it...

It certainly begs the question: Why have the Saudis invested in Bill and Hillary Clinton?


And why are the Clintons withholding their Library's list of donors?

HAS BILL'S "LEGACY" LOST ITS SHINE?

As Hillary's numbers continue to slip in the polls in the final run-up days to the New Hampshire Primary, her husband may not be off much help. From this article in the Washington Post:

AMHERST, N.H., Jan. 5 -- He's no kid anymore, and it's his wife who is attempting the comeback. But former president Bill Clinton looked and certainly sounded Saturday like a politician whose legacy is on the line.

As Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) campaigned an hour away in Durham, barely mentioning her husband as she sought to rebound from her stinging Iowa loss, Bill Clinton blended a retrospective on his long career with highlights from his wife's resume and assessments of where she stands on the major issues of the day. But for the most part, it was Bill Clinton on Bill Clinton, a weary warrior fighting against a powerful wave.

Facing in Obama a candidate with charisma of his own and a message of change, even Clinton advisers conceded that, of all the images that the former president conveys, a fresh face is not one of them.

Does Clinton himself sense this? At their joint event on Friday morning, Clinton scanned the crowd as his wife spoke, biting his nails.

...He did blame the news media, at least in part for the Iowa outcome, contending that reporters have given a free pass to Obama, who won the caucuses by a convincing eight percentage points.

...[H]e was rarely animated. When audience members asked questions, Clinton stole looks around the room. For once, he kept his eye on the clock. "I gotta run," he called out when the hour was up....

Could we be seeing the demise of the Clinton Machine? It's too early to say, of course. But for the moment, the Clinton Machine has lost its shine. Tuesday's result in the New Hampshire primary will tell the tale.

THE REAL STORY BEHIND THE "CLINTON ECONOMY"

Two unique events influenced the United States economy during Bill Clinton's tenure. Many have forgotten these events and the result is a general misunderstanding of the real drivers behind the "Clinton Economy."

1) Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web.

The web was released as a free service by the CERN research facility in 1993. A massive and unprecedented spending boom accompanied the popularization of the web.

2) Another anomalous, technology-related event was the "Year 2000" computer remediation effort (or "Y2K"). An immense repair investment -- estimated at $300 billion -- occurred in the late 1990's as governments and companies rushed to make their legacy computer systems "Y2K-compliant."

The massive surge in technology spending and productivity associated with these events were coincident with the Clinton Presidency. In fact, they had absolutely nothing to do with any program, initiative or legislation associated with the Clinton administration.

Put simply, Bobo the Chimpanzee could have been President during the late 90's tech boom. Come to think of it, even a philandering, disbarred former attorney who sold missile secrets to the Chinese for campaign donations while allowing terrorists to relentlessly attack U.S. interests could have been President.


And the tech boom -- the so-called "Clinton economy" -- would have happened regardless.

So when Hillary tells us that she'll duplicate Bill's economic track record, be afraid. Be very afraid.

I was perusing the comments left on the incredibly popular trailer of Hillary Uncensored and noticed this intriguing tidbit from "Chang Wu:"

Real or fake? Conspiracy theorist or satirist? Who knows, but it may be coincidental that Salon recently featured a troubling article that points to the vast amount of money raised by the William J. Clinton Foundation. Unfortunately, Clinton refuses to release the names of his individual donors.

Since leaving office in 2001, the former president has vacuumed in hundreds of millions of dollars for his William J. Clinton Foundation. Though the former president has declined to reveal the identities of his individual donors, public records reviewed by Salon reveal a partial picture of corporate foundations and the foundations of a network of wealthy individuals that have long fueled the Clinton money machine. Some of those same individuals are now among the top fundraisers for Hillary Clinton's campaign

There is no debate that the Clintons have had extremely questionable ties to both China and Dubai.

...[His failure to disclose his individual donors] raises the question of whether Bill Clinton's financial activity, and a partial lack of transparency about it to date, could become a political liability for a Hillary Clinton administration...

Laws designed to minimize real or perceived influence peddling limit the activities of a sitting president. But campaign and election law attorneys say nothing prohibits Bill Clinton from continuing to accept big checks made out to him or his foundation, even if his wife is elected president.

Is Chang Wu real? I don't know. But there's no question that the Clintons have a long and sordid history of contributions from mysterious donors. At a minimum, Chang is a metaphor for the Clintons' ties to China, Loral, Bernard Schwartz, and ICBM guidance technology.

CLINTON & CO PREVENTED GENOCIDAL WAR CRIMINAL'S ARREST

A former aide to the UN's top war crimes prosecutor says Russia shielded Bosnian Serb wartime leader Radovan Karadzic from arrest in 1997.

The former aide, Florence Hartmann, makes the allegation in memoirs published in France.

Ms Hartmann also claims a French move to arrest Mr Karadzic failed because the then US President Bill Clinton wanted Russia to be informed first.

Russia would not let the West arrest Mr Karadzic, she alleges.

Mr Clinton was supported by Britain and Germany, according to Ms Hartmann, who was spokeswoman for the UN tribunal's chief prosecutor, Carla del Ponte, for six years up to last year.

Mr Karadzic remains a fugitive. He and his military chief, Ratko Mladic, are wanted on genocide charges by the UN tribunal in The Hague.

BOTTOM-LINE: CLINTON COLD HAVE SEEN TO IT HE WAS BROUGHT TO JUSTICE AND CHOSE NOT TO. MORE PROOF THAT CLINTON IS SCUM.

CLINTON, THE CIA AND BINLADEN: BJ LIED AND THOUSANDS DIED

It appears that Bill Clinton may have exaggerated his record when it came to strategizing against Osama bin Laden. Newsweek's Michael Isikoff and Mark Hosenball take a look at the Inspector General's report of the pre-9/11 intelligence failures at the CIA and find an interesting nugget. Despite Clinton's angry assertion to Chris Wallace in last year's controversial Fox interview, he never gave the CIA an assassination order regarding bin Laden (h/t: CQ reader Mark):

The report also criticized intelligence problems when Bill Clinton was president, detailing political and legal “constraints” agency officials felt in the late 1990s.

In September 2006, during a famous encounter with Fox News anchor Wallace, Clinton erupted in anger and waived his finger when asked about whether his administration had done enough to get bin Laden. “What did I do? What did I do?” Clinton said at one point. “I worked hard to try to kill him. I authorized a finding for the CIA to kill him. We contracted with people to kill him. I got closer to killing him than anybody has gotten since.”

Clinton appeared to have been referring to a December 1999 Memorandum of Notification (MON) he signed that authorized the CIA to use lethal force to capture, not kill, bin Laden.

But the inspector general’s report made it clear that the agency never viewed the order as a license to “kill” bin Laden—one reason it never mounted more effective operations against him.
