Atlanta Gas Lines, Fuel Shortages cheered by Democrats

Atlanta drivers -- and many others throughout the South -- are suffering through fuel shortages resulting in long waits at gas stations. Linda Gregg of Virginia Highlands waited two hours to gas up her Toyota Prius.

"It's ridiculous, utterly ridiculous. What is this, Haiti?" Other drivers agreed, some of whom had driven dozens of miles trying to find a gas station with fuel.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) applauded the waits as "necessary conservation measures that are moving America closer to a green economy." *

The Democratic leaders pointed out that their 30 year track record speaks for itself.

Democrats have blocked the development of new sources of petroleum.
Democrats have blocked drilling in ANWR.
Democrats have blocked drilling off the coast of Florida.
Democrats have blocked drilling off of the east coast.
Democrats have blocked drilling off of the west coast.
Democrats have blocked drilling off the Alaskan coast.
Democrats have blocked building oil refineries.
Democrats have blocked clean nuclear energy production.
Democrats have blocked clean coal production.

A proud tradition, to be sure, and one certain to get more Democrats elected in the fall.

* I'm pretty sure this is what they said, but the dog was barking when they were talking, so I won't guarantee the transcription.

Gasoline: the real price-gougers

Hurricane Ike threatens our largest oil refineries...

Gas prices hit all-time highs...

...and the Democrat-controlled Congress continues to prohibit drilling for energy around 93% of the U.S. In fact, they even prohibit exploration!

It's nothing new. In 1994 Democrat Bill Clinton vetoed exploration in Alaska

In 2008 Democrat Nancy Pelosi claimed that drilling for oil is a "hoax".

And in July of this year Democrat Ken Salazar refused to consider drilling even if gas hit $10 a gallon!

Ten dollar gas? Vote for Energy. Vote McCain-Palin.

Free Gas Pump Stickers!

Mark Levin gave one of Atlas' readers an idea. He taped some pictures to the local gas pump.

The illustrations depict Congressional Democrats who've forced Americans to buy oil from the Middle East by criminalizing oil exploration in the U.S.

Need some to call your own? Click to zoom and then print away.

Here are closeups of all three versions (regular, extra, and premium).

Remember: only tape these to gas pumps if you have the owner's permission.

More proof: Saddam Hussein had operational ties to Al Qaeda

In 2002 Saddam Hussein's intelligence organization wrote a letter to Al Qaeda chieftain Ayman al-Zawahiri requesting a meeting regarding the launch of terrorist operations. The invaluable MEMRI translation service reports

The Kurdish daily Kurdistani Nwe has published a 2002 letter from the Iraqi presidency that it says proves that there was cooperation between the regime of Saddam Hussein and Al-Qaeda.

The letter, which appeared on the paper's front page, was published by the intelligence apparatus of the Iraqi presidency and discussed an intention to meet with Ayman Al-Zawahiri in order to examine a plan drawn up by the Iraqi presidency to carry out a "revenge operation" in Saudi Arabia.

The lies about Iraq promoted by the hard left bank of American politics continue to unravel.

Put bluntly, there were proven ties between Hussein's Iraq and Al-Qaeda.

And even the left-leaning mainstream media is reporting that the longstanding 'Bush lied' theme was as phony as the bogus Obama presidential seal.

Disgraced Senator Harry "The War is Lost" Reid could not be reached for comment.

QUESTION FOR REID AND PELOSI ON FUNDING IRAQ: "How do you ask a Dem to be the last person to vote "NO" on funding a war we're winning?"

You know that famous question Kerry the traitor asked in 1971, "How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?"

As if Vietnam was a mistake. Which it was not.

The very same doves - including Kerry the traitor, and his fellow MA Senator and murderer Teddy Jo Kennedy - asked the very same question regarding Iraq, as if getting rid of Saddam was a mistake. Which it was not.

So now - with it all but obvious the Surge worked and that we're winning in Iraq, (and in Afghanistan) - I want to pose a version of that question to Harry "we've lost" Reid and Nancy "for the children" Pelosi:

How do you ask a Dem to be the last person to vote "NO" on funding a war we're winning?

  • FOR THE SAKE OF VICTORY AND PEACE I DEMAND THAT CONGRESS PASS A BILL FUNDING FOR IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN.

  • NOT PASSING A FUNDING BILL IS TANTAMOUNT TO SURRENDER.

  • MAYBE THIS IS WHAT THE DEFEATOCRATS WANT?

  • THEY ABANDONED SOUTH VIETNAM; THEY WILL DO THE SAME TO IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN.

  • BUT ONLY IF WE LET THEM.

  • THE MOST IMPORTANT BATTLE IS ON: IT'S US AGAINST THE DEFEATOCRATS.

  • THE ONLY THING BETWEEN US AND VICTORY IN IRAQ IS THE DEMOCRAT PARTY.

THEY MUST PASS A FUNDING BILL BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

Outrage: Harry Reid withholds funds for anti-IED program

Military wife Amy Proctor shines a spotlight on Harry's Reid's despicable actions. The Senate majority leader is withholding funds from a US military that has turned the tide in Iraq -- including a program largely responsible for defeating IEDs, a leading killer of the troops.

Military reporters who are also active duty soldiers report military news on the Pentagon Channel. This report focuses on Congress’ refusal to fund the military. This story looks much different through the eyes of a soldier than from the mouth of a Katie Couric or Wolf Blitzer.

If Congress does not provide the supplemental funding bill that the President will sign, money for defeating the largest killer of American troops in the Global War on Terror will run out for the Joint Improvised Explosive Devise Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) on December 1st.

GEN (Ret) Meigs (Director of JIEDDO) says the funding crisis comes at a time when IED attacks have dropped 55% since their high in June this year. And average daily attacks are down 42%. However, without an approved funding bill, the organization only has enough money to remain operational through April 2008.

Democrats are pulling out all the stops in their attempts to turn victory in Iraq into defeat. Why are charges of treason not out of the question for Democrats like Reid?

POLLS SHOW THAT MOST PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY DISMISSED PETRAEUS BEFORE HE HAS EVEN REPORTED

CNN:
A majority of Americans don't trust the upcoming report by the Army's top commander in Iraq on the progress of the war and even if they did, it wouldn't change their mind, according to a new poll. ... Of those opposed to the war, 47 percent said Petreaus' report could not change their mind while 17 percent said it could.

...CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said he doesn't think the mistrust is directed at Petreaus as much as it is what he represents.

"It does seem to indicate that anyone associated with the Bush administration may be a less than credible messenger for the message that there is progress being made in Iraq," Holland said.
Most people who call themselves "anti-war" have made up their minds already.

And they will ignore everything Petraeus says - except the negative stuff.

And they have the AUDACITY to call themselves the reality-based community. HA!

Who is to blame for this? The MSM and the Dem leadership - like Harry Reid who MONTHS ago proclaimed Iraq lost.

I think we need to see the Iraq War through to a successful completion NO MATTER WHAT.
To me, the Petraeus report is important not because it will show whether raq is winnable, but whether we currently have a good strategy to win it - FOR WIN IT WE MUST.

HARRY REID IS WRONG: we're winning in Iraq

CNN:
The Mosul leader of al Qaeda in Iraq was shot to death by Iraqi soldiers during a combat operation in the northern Iraqi city Wednesday, a U.S. military statement said.

U.S. and Iraqi troops have been taking on militants in the Baquba area and throughout Diyala province

It comes as the U.S. records its lowest monthly troop death toll since November, reflecting military hopes that the recent military buildup is making strides.
Killed by IRAQI soldiers. Lowest troop death toll since last year.

HARRY REID AKA MR. DEFEATIST STRIKES AGAIN

Dennis Miller couldn't describe Harry Reid any better. Especially, after hearing the latest from Mr. Defeatist himself. He has already sunk to a 19% approval rating. Keep it up Harry, and you are going to be in the single digits. I never thought I could dislike someone more than Tom Daschle but Harry Reid is proving me wrong. Maybe Harry should've taken notes on what led to Daschle's demise, because he seems to be following down the same, miserable path that led to Daschle's defeat.

Reliapundit adds: Reid strikes again: he and Pelosi announce that the surge has failed. It ain't at full strength yet, Petraeus won't report until September, but Harry and Nancy ALREADY KNOW. And their opinion just happens to be the same as Zawahiri and Ahmadinejad. And what do they accomplish by announcing this opinion of theirs now!?!? It makes no sense. If they were politically shrewd, then they'd give Bush whatever he wants and then in 2008 wither share the credit or BLAME THE GOP. They are idiots. And their idiocies hurts us and our allies. Which makes them scum.

MOVE AMERICA FORWARD HOLDS RALLY IN LAS VEGAS

Folks in the Neon City braved the heat to hold a rally outside the Las Vegas office of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to protest his stand on the War in Iraq and show their support for the troops in Iraq. Here are a few snapshots:

They waved white flags in a jab at Harry Reid for saying that the War in Iraq is lost. They even brought along a surrender monkey.

SURRENDER BILL DELIVERY DATE PROVES THE DEMS ARE MORE PARTISAN THAN PATRIOTIC

THEY WAITED UNTIL TODAY TO SEND THE BILL TO BUSH - FOR THE INEVITABLE VETO.

THEY WASTED MORE TIME THAN NECESSARY JUST SO THAT THEY COULD SEND THE BILL TO HIM ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" SPEECH.

THIS PROVES THAT THEY WOULD RATHER SCORE POLITICAL AND PARTISAN POINTS THAN SUPPORT THE TROOPS.

THIS PROVES THAT THEY ARE SCUM. TOTAL SCUM. UNFORGIVABLE SCUM.

WHO DO YOU TRUST, HARRY REID OR KIT BOND?

As Reliapundit pointed out, recent polling shows that Traitor Reid and the Democrats may be overplaying their hand:
A Fox News/Opinion Dynamics poll show 69% of American voters trust military commanders more than members of Congress (18%) to decide when United States troops should leave Iraq. This includes 52% of Democrats, 69% of Independents and 88% of Republicans (3/27-28, 2007).

And while Nevada continues to be embarrassed by their senator, I am always proud of my Senator, Kit Bond. He has come through again and written an excellent commentary for the KC Star entitled, Democrats focused on winning votes, not war. He takes on Traitor Harry Reid and points out that Democrats are suffering from selective denial:
"Democratic leaders in Congress seem to be suffering selective denial when it comes to a coherent policy on Iraq. So eager are they to capitalize politically on public frustration with the war in the 2008 election that they are ignoring the long-term implications of a withdrawal deadline.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Nevada Democrat, recently told The Associated Press, “We’re going to pick up Senate seats as a result of this war.” Sen. Chuck Schumer, a New York Democrat, said Republicans who did not go along with the pullout will “look extinction … in the eye.”

The political focus sidesteps discussion of a responsible plan to avoid defeat in Iraq and a consequent slaughter in the Middle East if our troops pull out on the Democratic timetable. Most glaring is the absence in Reid’s comments of any recognition that failure in Iraq is a bad thing."
I'm going to be doing some calling to D.C. next week, praising my Senator - and letting everyone else know what I think of all the appeasers in the Senate.

REID LIED IN 2006: "Iraq has to be done on a bipartisan basis," said Sen. Harry Reid, elected on Tuesday to be the next Senate majority leader.

SINCE THIS TERM BEGAN, REID'S DONE NOTHING BUT SEEK PARTISAN GAIN.

THE "ANTI-WAR" FUNDING BILLS HE HAS HAD THE SENATE VOTE ON HAVE YIELDED STRAIGHT PARTY-LINE VOTES.

AND HE'S INTRODUCED THEM DESPITE KNOWING FULL-WELL THAT BUSH WILL VETO THEM AND THAT HE HASN'T GOT THE VOTES TO OVERRIDE.

SO HE HAS INTRODUCED THEM SOLELY FOR POLITICAL THEATER - WHICH HURTS OUR ALLIES. ACCORDING TO OUR ALLIES.

REID IS EITHER A FAILURE AT BIPARTISANSHIP. OR A LIAR.

I THINK HE'S A LIAR.

WHO'S AIDING THE ENEMY.

SO HE'S A TRAITOR, TOO.

CNN'S SENIOR IRAQ WAR CORRESPONDANTS: WITHDRAWAL WOULD BE A DISASTER

WATCH IT. PLAY IT FOR ALL THE DEMS YOU KNOW. MAKE THEM WATCH IT.

THEIR ACTIONS TODAY AND THEIR POSITION ON WITHDRAWAL FROM IRAQ IS UNCONSCIONABLE.

REMEMBER FOLKS, WARS ARE NOT ENDED BY FIAT - OR WITHDRAWAL.

WAR ARE EITHER WON, OR THEY ARE LOST.

THE DEMOCRAT WITHDRAWAL PLAN WILL NOT "END THE WEAR" - AS THEY CLAIM.

IT WILL LOSE THE WAR, AND HAND IRAQ TO IRAN AND AL QAEDA, (JUST AS CNN'S MICHAEL WARE SAYS).

THAT WOULD BE A DISASTER FOR THE IRAQIS, THE MIDDLE EAST, AND THE FREE WORLD.

NEVERTHELESS, IT'S EXACTLY WHAT THE DEMOCRATS IN CONGRESS ARE PUSHING.

WHICH MAKES THEM DESPICABLE - ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THAT THEY DID NOT RUN ON A PARTY-PLATFORM WHICH DEMANDED A TIMETABLE FOR WITHDRAWAL.

WHICH MAKES HIM AND ALL OF THE DEMOCRATS IN CONGRESS LYING, DEFEATIST, TRAITOROUS SCUM.

IRAQI GOVERNMENT SPOKESMAN: DEMOCRAT PARTY'S TIMETABLE AIDS THE ENEMY AND MAKES A POLITICAL SETTLEMENT LESS LIKELY

YAHOO/AP:
An Iraqi government spokesman criticized the U.S. Senate vote to begin withdrawing U.S. troops by Oct. 1.

"We see some negative signs in the decision because it sends wrong signals to some sides that might think of alternatives to the political process," Ali al-Dabbagh told The Associated Press.

He spoke after the Senate passed legislation Thursday that would require the start of troop withdrawals from Iraq by Oct. 1. The House passed the same bill a day earlier...
PUT ANOTHER WAY, IF WE KEEP THE MILITARY PRESSURE HIGH, THEN IT IS MORE LIKELY THAT THE "INSURGENTS" WILL REALIZE THEY WOULD BE BETTER OFF SEEKING COMPROMISE USING POLITICAL MEANS.

REID AND PELOSI AND THE DEFEATIST DEMS ARE THEREFORE NOT ONLY AIDING THE ENEMY; THEY ARE UNDERMINING THE POSSIBILITY FOR THE IRAQIS FACTIONS AND PARTIES TO MAKE A POLITICAL COMPROMISE - AND A POLITICAL COMPROMISE IS --- ACCORDING TO REID AND PETRAEUS --- ULTIMATELY THE ONLY WAY THE INSURGENCY WILL BE ENDED.

AND REID AND PELOSI AND THE DEFEATIST DEMOCRATS ARE UNDERMINING THAT POSSIBILITY. THEY ARE ACTUALLY PROLONGING THE WAR.

IDIOTS.

AND THE FACT THAT REID SAID HE WOULD NOT DO THIS AS RECENTLY AS JANUARY MEANS HE IS A LIAR, TOO. A LYING, TRAITOROUS IDIOT.

IT'S TIME FOR LIEBERMAN TO PUT UP OR SHUT UP - OR: HOW JOE CAN FIRE REID

WELCOME WIZBANG READERS!

There's no reason we have to wait for Reid to do the honorable thing and resign; he won't do it because hasn't an ounce of honor; he is a traitor. (More on Reid's mendacious treachery HERE.) IT MATTERS NOT; JOE LIEBERMAN CAN FIRE HIM.

(UPDATE: AS AN ASTUTE COMMENTER POINTED OUT... ALL JOE HAS TO DO IS CAUCUS WITH THE GOP; HE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE TO SWITCH PARTIES!)

HYSCIENCE (EXCERPT - RTWT!!!):
America is at a crossroads, Senator Lieberman, it faces one of its darkest hours even as our troops in the battlefield are being used as "political pawns," at the risk of their safety and their lives, by such power mongering, unscrupulous, demagogues as Senator Reid, and or betrayed by Democratic leftist ideologues in Congress!

The fate of our nation, of Israel, and of Western Civilization hangs on the balance.

The Islamofacist terrorist enemy must be defeated in Iraq, Afghanistan, and wherever it rears its ugly head of intolerance, oppression, and death, or we let it fester at our peril. It will come knocking at our door once again, much as it did on 9/11!

The time is now, Senator Lieberman! Fulfill your promise, and your commitment to our troops in the field, switch Parties now, become a Republican, end the impasse about the war funding, and wrest the Leadership of the Senate from infamous Harry Reid, the Democrats, and America's enemies! ...

I would prompt all who are concerned for the safety of our troops and for the future of America, and that wish that once and for all Senator Lieberman would come to the rescue of our troops and our nation by becoming a Republican, thus removing the Senate Majority from the Democrats and the Senate Leadership from nefarious Harry Reid, to please urge him to do so!

Let us flood his offices with calls, faxes, letters, and e-mails, urging him to have the courage to fulfill his promise, switch Parties, and wrest the power of the Senate from Reid's hands!
UPDATE #2: Here's a link to my letter to Joe.

LET'S GET JOE TO MAKE REID HISTORY!

PROGRESS IN IRAQ

Punditarian and Reliapundit both expressed outrage over Harry Reid's pessimistic rant on how he thinks we have lost the war in Iraq. Reliapundit pointed out how dangerous this is and how we are winning in Iraq but nobody is reporting it.

Progress is being made in Iraq and a success was being celebrated on the very day that Reid whined that we had lost the war. The diagram on the left shows the progress that has been made in Iraq in the past year.

On April 18th, Maysan was the 4th of Iraq's 18 provinces to be handed over to the Iraqis. Yet, Harry Reid thinks it is more productive to surrender before even giving the surge a chance to work. It is extremely inspiring, isn't it???

Curt named his post, Defeatists Always Whine. I think that about sums it up. I always fall on the side of the optimist so I will continue to root and pray for Iraq and America to succeed. How about you?
