An earthquake erupts over plans for relocating Beduin communities:

Beduin Israelis and their supporters throughout the country staged protest demonstrations on Saturday against the controversial Prawer resettlement plan, according to Israel Radio.

Police arrested ten people on Saturday evening in the southern Beduin village of Hura after demonstrations against the plan turned violent.

Protesters hurled stones amid clashes with authorities injuring ten police officers, Police Spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said.

There were a reported 1,500 demonstrators gathered at Hura Junction in the Negev, some of whom were seen waving PLO flags. Similar demonstrations were being planned for Haifa as well as a number of European and Arab countries to mark the so-called international "Day of Rage" against the legislation.

The Prawer Plan is a five-year economic development initiative that offers what the state believes to be a compromise solution for tens of thousands of Beduin currently scattered in unrecognized villages throughout the south. According to the proposal, up to 70,000 Beduins are likely to be relocated in newly built towns while a number of Beduin villages that are currently unrecognized will be legalized.

The bill is currently being deliberated in the Knesset’s Internal Affairs and Environment Committee. It is expected to come before the parliament for its second and third readings. The plan costs NIS 7 billion, NIS 2 billion of which will be earmarked for compensation to those whose land claims were not addressed, Israel Radio reported.

Last week, The Post learned that the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem is taking the international campaign against the Israeli government very seriously in light of increasing interest in the issue from international organizations and world governments, particularly in the US and in the European Union, where objections and protests against the plan are garnering widespread publicity.

On Friday, the British daily Guardian published a letter signed by 50 high-profile figures from the world of arts and entertainment condemning what they termed as “the forced displacement of Palestinians from their homes and land, and systematic discrimination and separation.”

ONTARIO AUTHORITIES ARE SLOW IN DEALING WITH LEV TAHOR AND QUEBEC COURT'S RULING

The judge in Quebec may have ruled the children should be removed from Lev Tahor's custody, but so far, the authorities in Ontario are slow to act:

MONTREAL—Ontario child protection authorities visited members of the radical Jewish Lev Tahor sect Thursday, one day after a judge's order that 14 children from the community should be taken into foster care.

Nachman Helbrans, a member of the group and the son of Lev Tahor's spiritual leader, Rabbi Shlomo Helbrans, said in a brief telephone conversation with the Toronto Star on Thursday afternoon that investigators with Chatham-Kent Children's Services were at his door. He did not talk about the reason for their visit.

But two weeks after the runaway ultra-orthodox sect fled their base in Ste-Agathe-des-Monts, Que., as well as an ongoing child welfare investigation, there is pressure on the Children's Aid Society in Chatham-Kent to take the children into protective custody.

So far, though, local officials are refusing to say if or how they will respond to the ruling of Quebec Youth Court Judge Pierre Hamel, who ordered the 14 children, ranging in age from two months to 16 years, into foster care.

“Chatham-Kent Children’s Services is in communication with Quebec authorities and co-operating with joint planning,” said a spokesperson for the agency, Shelly Thibert. “No further comments will be made at this time.”

That isn't good enough. Are the Ontario authorities going to remove the children from that vile group's clutches or not?

There was an archaeology discovery made and announced on the holiday:

When the Hasmoneans returned to the Temple only to discover that the golden menorah was stolen by the Greeks, they quickly put together a makeshift candelabrum with seven lamps using scraps of iron. They lit the menorah using pure oil, according to the story as it is written in the Book of Maccabees.

On the eve of Hanukkah in the year 5774 (2013), many generations after the drama which yielded the Festival of Lights unfolded some 2,150 years ago, Dr. Eilat Mazar, an accomplished archaeologist, is recreating her earth-shattering rediscovery of the "lost menorah" at the foot of the Temple Mount. This discovery took place seven months ago but was only revealed in September.

For many years, Mazar has excavated the hidden corners of this land. The ground she dug held thousands of discoveries and archaeological treasures. Still, nothing could have prepared Mazar, the granddaughter of Professor Benjamin Mazar, who is thought of as the pioneer in excavations of artifacts from the biblical era, for the 1,400-year-old discovery, not to mention the reverberating responses, from the prime minister himself to colleagues from abroad to "regular folks," among them Jews and Arabs.

These unforgettable moments are seared into her consciousness. It was the start of the fourth excavation season at the City of David, also known as the Ophel, on the southern rim of the Temple Mount complex. The project is overseen by the Hebrew University.

The area itself was first excavated by her grandfather 40 years ago. During that initial period, the diggers, including students from Ambassador College in Oklahoma, devoted their efforts to removing the uppermost layer of earth from the area designated for excavation. They "uncovered" dozens of plastic cups, aluminum foil, and worn-out old shoes that appear to have been used by construction workers during their lunch breaks. At that stage of the dig, they didn't expect to come across anything special.

Mazar was thus surprised when on the fifth day of her own dig, this past summer, Ariel Winderbaum, the archaeologist in charge of Area C, showed her a large golden earring that was particularly dense. It was uncovered in one of the rooms attached to the structure that hosted the shops in the Byzantine area. From here, things began to unfold quickly. Before Mazar managed to absorb the significance of what had been found, another earring was found nearby. It matched the first earring.

A few minutes later, several golden coins were also found. And minutes afterward more artifacts were uncovered. Mazar was concerned that the news of the golden findings would attracted unwanted guests to the complex. She asked Winderbaum to make sure that the workers who uncovered the 36 coins and earrings -- Cari and Ahinoam -- continue with their work while maintaining strict confidentiality. Mazar herself was quick to leave the vicinity so as not to arouse attention.

Now Mazar is releasing a Hebrew-language book entitled "Discovering the Lost Menorah at the Foot of the Temple Mount." In it, she describes the moments that fired the imagination of archaeologists and millions of Jews from around the world. It also provided yet another rejoinder to the deceitful claims propagated for years by the Palestinians whereby Jewish links to Jerusalem and the existence of the temple are a fallacy.

And that's the best part of all; another splendid refutation of Islamist propaganda.

"I was shocked to discover that Tel Aviv Municipality was helping produce an anti-Zionist film festival at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque. A review of the event's line-up clearly shows that the films represented at the festival are of an anti-Zionist nature," said Shaked.

CANADIAN JUDGE ORDERS 14 CHILDREN BE REMOVED FROM LEV TAHOR'S CUSTODY

A judge in Quebec has ruled that at least 14 children in the Islamic-style Lev Tahor cult be taken into state custody:

ST-JÉRÔME — A Quebec Court judge has ordered the removal of 14 children aged 2 months to 16 years from the ultra-Orthodox sect Lev Tahor, to be placed in foster homes.

Judge Pierre Hamel issued the ruling Wednesday night, ordering the children be removed from the community and placed in foster homes immediately, for at least 30 days. He ordered members of the Lev Tahor community to refrain from contacting the children in any way, except for their parents, whose contact will be supervised by youth protection officials. Among the children ordered removed are a 16-year-old girl and her 2-month-old baby.

Each child will be given a full examination by a doctor, and their psychological needs will be assessed. Youth protection officials have alleged extreme neglect and malnutrition, as well as isolation, and a refusal by sect members to adhere to the Quebec curriculum. They claim the children, who are home schooled, are unable to do basic math, and don't understand English or French.

There is a publication ban on evidence presented Wednesday in court.

On Tuesday, a committee in Israel's parliament, the Knesset, heard gruesome details about the conditions in the sect from several former members. The website Behadrey Haredim reported that the hearing was told that children were hit with iron bars, denied food and forced to take psychiatric pills. The committee also heard that the sect achieved compliance by inflicting constant pain, by forcing members to wear shoes smaller than their shoe size. Members also spoke of forced divorce and marriage from the age of 14, involving age gaps, including a 15-year-old boy marrying a 40-year-old woman, and vice versa. The minimum legal age of marriage in Canada is 16.

In what police believe was a nationalistic motivated attack, a two-year-old toddler was wounded from an object that was thrown at a car that she was riding in, in the Armon Hanatziv area of Jerusalem on Thursday evening.

Police national spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld said that the police believed the attack was nationalistically motivated. Rosenfeld said that the area Tzur Baher, adjacent to the attack site, was being searched for the perpetrators. He added that stones were thrown on Thursday at a number of vehicles in the area.

Magen David Adom paramedics treated the girl at the scene on Asher Weiner street and transported her to hospital at Hadassah University Medical Center in the city, in moderate condition.

MDA said that the toddler was not fully conscious when they arrived at the scene but that her condition improved on the way to the hospital. [...]

Following the attack, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat called for increasing criminal sanctions on stone-throwers.

Barkat also visited the injured toddler in hospital and spoke with the victim's family.

"It must be made clear to everyone that a stone is a weapon for all intents and purposes and it must be viewed this way," Barkat said.

After a female shopper in Tulsa, Okla., caught a half-naked man masturbating in a Walmart ladies’ room, she decided to publicly shame him and chase him into the parking lot, eventually leading to his arrest after she recorded his license plate. 

After shopper Beth Davis spotted Brian Hounslow acting inappropriately in the bathroom, she attempted to alert Walmart employees, shouting about “a naked man in the bathroom masturbating” for several minutes. When employees failed to address the situation, Hounslow headed towards the store exit and Davis followed him with her smartphone’s camera rolling. 

Because of corporate protocol of not physically detaining customers, the store allowed Hounslow to leave, but that did not stop Davis from chasing him into the parking lot and photographing his license plate before he sped away. Hounslow was later arrested and charged with indecent exposure. 

“Who gets up at 8:30 in the morning and decides they’re going to go to Walmart, take off all their clothes and masturbate in the women’s bathroom?” 

Davis asked KJRH, Tulsa’s NBC affiliate. “How could you think you weren’t going to get caught?”

I figured that it was possible for the authorities to stop them if they tried to flee wholesale, so instead, for now, they've moved to a province where they figure they can get away with this sickness more easily:

...Canadian media reported over the weekend that the group of 200, including more than 130 children, will make their home in Chatham-Kent in southwestern Ontario, a town of 108,000.

Cult members told Canadian media that they made the move due to a dispute with education authorities in Quebec over the curriculum that they were being required to teach the children, who are home schooled, including subjects such as evolution.

The sect was concerned that the children would be placed in foster care, according to The Star.

Ontario reportedly has liberal requirements for faith-based home schooling.

The cult, led by Israeli Rabbi Shlomo Helbrans, reportedly uses extreme violence and mind control. Most of its members are Israeli-born with Canadian-born children.

Better yet, they should by all means do what the Quebec authorities considered doing, and remove the children from their clutches.

Update: perhaps in answer to every sane person's prayers, a judge has ordered at least 2 families in the cult move back to Quebec to face hearings, and, the Knesset here is going to look into this case too. I hope the authorities won't let them off the hook and do remove the children from such awful people's grips.

The Israeli defense minister has chimed in on the Iran deal:

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon met his Canadian counterpart Robert Nicholson in Ottawa on Thursday, expressing appreciation for the cooperation between the two governments and warning against Iran’s hegemonic designs.

Ya’alon stated that the Iranian regime “is involved in every conflict in the Middle East and has also set up terror bases in Africa, Asia and South America. They want to defeat Western culture, and are prepared to sacrifice to achieve this.”

He added: “The Iranians want, under the cover of the nuclear umbrella that they will have, to advance their terror activities, such as using a ‘dirty bomb’ at various targets in the Western world. Therefore, we must not tolerate the possibility of a nuclear Iran. One way or another, Iran’s military nuclear project must be stopped.”
