John Quincy Adams also described the Quran in one of his essays as follows:

The precept of the koran is, perpetual war against all who deny, that Mahomet is the prophet of God. Thomas Jefferson? Like John Adams, he did own a Quran, one translated by George Sale. Here are some of Sale’s comments on the Quran, included by Sale in his introduction:

Armenia's religious leaders have decided to boycott an upcoming landmark liturgy at a medieval Armenian cathedral located in southeastern Turkey because of Ankara's refusal to restore a cross on its dome, RFE/RL's Armenian Service reports.

Mass will be celebrated at the 10th-century church of Surp Khach (Holy Cross) for the first time in nearly a century on September 19, three years after the church was reopened following a $1.5 million renovation funded by the Turkish government. The government has allowed Turkey's surviving Armenian Christian community to hold religious services there once a year.

Ankara has promoted the decision as proof of its commitment to tolerance and a gesture of goodwill toward Armenians. Still, it has resisted calls to return the church, on the legendary Akhtamar island in Lake Van, to the Armenian community led by Archbishop Aram Ateshian.

Catholicos Garegin II, the supreme head of the Armenian Church, decided last month to send two high-ranking representatives to the event. His spokesman, Father Vahram Melikian, described the one-day reopening of the shrine as a positive but insufficient step.

In a statement issued on September 4, Garegin's office said the Turkish authorities had broken a pledge to the Mother See of the Armenian Apostolic Church, the country's main church, to allow the Armenian Patriarchate in Istanbul to place a cross on the temple one week before the ceremony. It added that the justification cited for that decision was unfounded, and the church representatives -- an Echmiadzin-based bishop and another high-level cleric -- will not after all attend the Mass.

Garegin's initial decision to send them to the high-profile event had caused controversy in Armenia. Many political groups there regard the event as a Turkish publicity stunt designed to mislead the international community. President Serzh Sarkisian's Republican Party on August 10 spoke out against any Armenian participation in the "imitation show."

Turkey's Culture and Tourism Minister, Ertugrul Gunay, insisted on September 5 that his government initiated the ceremony in good faith.

"The Turkish-Armenian Patriarchate introduced the idea of holding a Mass in the church once a year and we accepted it. This brings us one step closer [to rapprochement with the Armenians] and will be followed by others," he told "Hurriyet Daily News."

"I grew up with Armenians, my best friend is Armenian. We never knew enmity...Whether Greek, Turkish, or Armenian, we are all children of these lands," Gunay said, accusing "nationalists" in both Armenia and Turkey of exploiting the Mass for political purposes.

The minister did not comment on the Turkish government's apparent reluctance to restore the church cross.

Built between 915 and 921 A.D., the Akhtamar church is one of the few surviving examples of the ancient Armenian civilization in what is now eastern Turkey. Hundreds of Armenian churches built there since the early Middle Ages were destroyed, ransacked or turned into mosques during and after the 1915 slaughter of more than 1 million Armenians in the Ottoman Empire.

In the European theater in WW2, FDR fought total war. FDR fire-bombed Dresden, carpet-bombed much of Europe, and refused conditional surrenders.

WE WON.

In the Pacific theater in WW2, Truman fought total war. When japan refused unconditional surrender, nuked Hiroshima. When they still refused, then he nuked Nagasaki. Only then did they relent.

WE WON.

In the Korean War, we fought we refused to fight total war; we fought to a draw - consigning North Koreans to 60 years of tyranny and poverty. And now they hold the entire region hostage to their nukes.

NOT A GOOD RESULT.

In the Vietnam War; we refused to fight total war; we fought to a draw, signed a treaty in 1973 - and then in 1975 the Democrat controlled Congress pulled the plug on the South Vietnam's government. The North violated the Paris peace Treaty, invaded the south leading to 2 million Boat People fleeing socialist repression. One million died while fleeing. 500,000 went to "re-education" camps. Cambodia fell - and socialist Pol Pot killed 3 million more there.

NOT A GOOD RESULT. (And now - 50 years later, Vietnam is begging for US investment and trade, something they could have had in 1965 and without sacrificing 3 million of their young to war against the USA.)

In 1991, we fought the Gulf War. After expelling Saddam from Kuwait, we refused to fight total war. We left Saddam in power. Despite agreeing to all the terms of the armistice, Saddam was free to tyrannize his people and support global terror. We had to inflict Iraq with sanctions, and impose a "no-fly zone" to protect the Shias and Kurds. Despite these efforts - and because of Saddam's continual violations of the terms of the armistice, it became necessary to invade Iraq - and finish the job we left undone in 1991.

We are still there. 50,000 US troops are still there.

In 2001, we invaded Afghanistan. We refused to fight total war. We let Bin Laden escape. We let Pakistan support the Taliban and let the FATA regions go unpunished.

As a result, 9 years later and we are still there.

THERE'S A PATTERN HERE FOLKS.

It's simple: if you want to win then you need to fight total war.

Instead of having us fight with one hand tied behind our back, I think Bush should have dropped a few small nukes on Tora Bora in 2001. It would've killed Bin Laden and sent the right message: "DON'T TREAD ON ME!"

Bush could have given a speech to the world from the Oval Office after the dust had settled. He could've said this specifically to Muslim nations:

"If we are attacked again by islamo-terrorists, then we might respond by nuking Kabul and/or: Islamabad; Tehran; Bagdhad; Damascus; or any other Muslim capitol anywhere in the world - including Mecca. Germany is giving us a template on how we handle Muslims: just like we handle neo-Nazis.

According to Bloomberg, German police carried out 30 predawn raids against the nation's largest neo-Nazi group two days ago.

Why? Because German authorities are determined to "stamp out" this movement because it is "potentially violent." According to Interior Ministry spokesman Markus Beyer, the group includes within it a "violent subculture" of extremists.

Authorities are also alarmed that the movement thrives behind prison walls, where "imprisoned comrades" are urged to "fight on against the system."

Bloomberg describes the neo-Nazis as a "virulent political force" which is "more extreme" than other anti-Semitic groups in German because of "their implicit support for an authoritarian 'Fuehrer state'" modeled after the Third Reich.

The German government banned one neo-Nazi organization in 2009 because it "sought to attract youths to an anti-Semitic...ideology." Police discovered "extremist lyircs" during a raid on one of its camping sites on the Baltic Sea.

Let's see. What other organization operating in the West is "potentially violent," has a "violent subculture" of extremists inside it, thrives inside prisons, is a "virulent political force," tries to "attract youths to an anti-Semitic...ideology," supports an "authoritarian...state" and includes "extremist lyrics" (such as "Slay the idolaters wherever you find them") in its repertoire?

I'll give you a hint. It's not the Southern Baptist Convention, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, or the United Methodists.

Islam obviously, as 9/11 and 32 subsequent foiled terrorist attacks on U.S. soil attest, has great potential for violence. It includes radical jihadists (a "violent subculture") within its ranks, does some of its best recruiting in prison (one imam in Britain actually directs terrorist cells from inside the prison where he resides as an inmate), cultivates a jihadist and anti-semitic mentality in youths (the valedictorian of a Saudi-funded high school in Virginia is now in prison for trying to assassinate the president of the United States, and Muslim youth are taught that Jews should be wiped off the planet), and aims to impose sharia law on all Americans at the point of a sword if necessary (can't get any more "authoritarian" than that).

I see no reason why our policies toward Islam in the West in general and America in particular should not be a mirror image of our policies toward the neo-Nazi movement.
