CRITICS OF "TROPIC THUNDER": WHAT MORONS!

This afternoon, National Pinko Radio's program Small Things Considered broadcast an interview with Timothy Shriver, the chairman of the Special Olympics, calling for a boycott of Ben Stiller's new comedy "Tropic Thunder" because of its "hate speech."

The N-word is used in the movie once, but that isn't what offended Mr. Shriver. He is upset because the character played by Ben Stiller, a foolish Hollywood method actor (in a film that is a complete send-up of foolish Hollywood method actors), describes having played a "retard." That's the word that Mr. Shriver finds hateful, because its use leads to exclusion, fear of the "other," suffering, and loneliness. He said it was used in the movie 17 times.

But at the end of the interview, Mr. Shriver admitted that he hadn't actually seen the movie.

And my immediate reaction to that revelation was, "What a frickin' retard . . ."

BIRDS OF A FEATHER....

WAS A JIHADO-TERROR ATTACK FOILED IN DENVER?

FOX/AP:
Authorities say a man who died of possible cyanide poisoning at a Denver hotel was 29-year-old Saleman Abdirahman Dirie from Ottawa.

The medical examiner's office said Tuesday an autopsy is planned.

Police say he had been dead for several days when his body was discovered Monday in a room at The Burnsley Hotel, about four blocks from the State Capitol.
LGF:
A large container of a white powdery substance was found in the man’s room on the fourth floor of The Burnsley hotel at 10th and Grant. Tests are now being done by the Denver Police Crime Lab to determine exactly what the substance is. The tests could take days.
GJS:
Authorities say a man who died of possible cyanide poisoning at a Denver hotel was a 29-year-old from Ottawa.

The medical examiner's office said Tuesday they were awaiting toxicology results after an autopsy was conducted on the body of Saleman Abdirahman Dirie. Medical examiners reported a bitter, almond-like smell from Dirie's body after it arrived at the morgue Monday, indicating the possibility of cyanide poisoning.

TIME TO SUPPLEMENT NATO WITH... "EDG"

One of the things fueling Russia's rage is the fact that their former "satellites" have either joined or want to join their former nemesis NATO.

Georgia wants to join, and NATO wants Georgia to join. This in part is what's behind the Russian invasion of Georgia: the Putin's Russian imperialists needed to do this before Georgia joined NATO.

SO... LET'S DO AN END AROUND:

Instead of getting the former captive states of the USSR in eastern Europe to join NATO, let's start a new organization - WITHOUT OLD EUROPE: we can call it EDG, for Eastern-European Defense Group.

It would be the USA and Poland, the Baltic states, the former Czech republics, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria - and Armenia and Georgia.

Each nation could join by meeting bi-lateral arrangements with the USA.

Screw Old Europe and Russia's long-running pique with NATO.

EDG would be a perfect acronym: the member would all be on the USSR's - er um I mean Russia's EDGE.

All except the USA.

Well, it's an idea...

After all, NATO is getting less effective all the time, anyhow. They've been real pussies in Afghanistan.

PROOF THAT BUSH'S LEBANON/SYRIA POLICY A TOTAL FAILURE

JPOST:
Lebanese President Michel Suleiman's visit to Syria this week and his recent comments about liberating the Shaba Farms (Mount Dov) by force if diplomacy fails reflect a new political reality in Lebanon in which both the Iranian-backed Hizbullah and Syrian influence have gained strength, an Israeli expert on Lebanon said this week.

Suleiman is scheduled to arrive Wednesday in what is being called "a historic" two-day visit to Syria, where the two countries are expected to discuss exchanging embassies and establishing full diplomatic ties for the first time since their establishment more than six decades ago.

"It's recognition of Syrian power in Lebanon," said Asher Kaufman, an Israeli scholar and assistant professor at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. "In 2005, Syria withdrew its forces from Lebanon and since then it has made every possible effort to regain its strength, and it has done so.

APS, A thought-free zone

Below is the substance of a communication received from The Right Honourable The Viscount Monckton of Brenchley

The American Physical Society ceased to be a scientific body and became a mere pressure-group when, in 2007, it adopted "National Policy 07.1" on climate change, reproduced in full below. The "policy" cites not a single scientific authority: it is a purely political manifesto whose tendentious conclusions are materially at odds with scientific theory and with observed reality.
"Emissions of greenhouse gases from human activities are changing the atmosphere in ways that affect the Earth's climate. Greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide as well as methane, nitrous oxide and other gases. They are emitted from fossil fuel combustion and a range of industrial and agricultural processes.

"The evidence is incontrovertible: Global warming is occurring. If no mitigating actions are taken, significant disruptions in the Earth's physical and ecological systems, social systems, security and human health are likely to occur. We must reduce emissions of greenhouse gases beginning now.

"Because the complexity of the climate makes accurate prediction difficult, the APS urges an enhanced effort to understand the effects of human activity on the Earth's climate, and to provide the technological options for meeting the climate challenge in the near and longer terms. The APS also urges governments, universities, national laboratories and its membership to support policies and actions that will reduce the emission of greenhouse gases."

A scientifically accurate revision of the APS' "National Policy" on "Climate Change" is below
Emissions of greenhouse gases from human activities have increased the proportion of the atmosphere occupied by carbon dioxide by one-ten-thousandth part since 1750 (Keeling & Whorf, 2004, updated). This minuscule perturbation may cause a small, harmless, and beneficial warming (Monckton, 2008). Greenhouse gases also include water vapor, the most significant greenhouse gas because of its volume, and methane, of which the atmospheric concentration ceased to increase in 2000 and is now declining (IPCC, 2007). Greenhouse gases are not pollutants, but occur naturally in quantities greater than those emitted from fossil fuel combustion and industrial and agricultural processes.

The evidence is incontrovertible: global cooling is occurring (GISStemp, HadCRU, RSS, UAH, NCDC). Though a natural warming trend of ~0.5 øC per century began in 1700, long before humankind could possibly have had any significant effect on global temperature (Akasofu, 2008), there has been no new record year for global temperature since 1998 and, since late 2001, there has been a downtrend. The cooling between January 2007 and January 2008 was the sharpest since records began in 1880.

Therefore no action need be taken to mitigate "global warming", for there is no evidence in the instrumental record that humankind has caused any significant increase in the 300-year-long natural warming rate, and no theoretical reason why future greenhouse-gas emissions should prove harmful. In any event, mitigating actions would be orders of magnitude less cost-effective than adaptation as, and if, necessary (all economists except Stern, 2006). The atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide was ~18 times today's in the Cambrian era (IPCC, 2001). Humankind was not responsible - we were not there. The planet came to no harm. Significant disruptions in the Earth's physical and ecological systems, social systems, security and human health are unlikely to occur.

Because the complexity of the climate makes accurate long-run prediction impossible (Lorenz, 1963), the APS urges caution in relying upon computer models when making long-term climate predictions. There is no basis for the oft-repeated contention that the effects of human activity on the Earth's climate are likely to be great enough to influence the future climate. The APS therefore urges governments and peoples to provide the technological options for meeting real short-term and long-term environmental challenges, of which "global warming" from greenhouse-gas enrichment is not one. The APS also urges governments, universities, national laboratories and its membership to support policies and actions that will reduce the current official misinformation and unscientific alarmism about emission of greenhouse gases.

How the West Can Stand Up to Russia

Excerpt:

Given the cutthroat politics Moscow has practiced at home and abroad in recent years -- with only the softest protests from the U.S. and its allies -- no one should be surprised by Russia's decision to conquer the two breakaway regions of Georgia. Nevertheless, it should once and for all disabuse policy makers in Washington and Brussels of hopes that Russia intends to become part of the post-Cold War condominium of democratic peace in Europe. The point of the Kremlin's invasion of Georgia, which now threatens the capital city of Tbilisi, is to demonstrate to the world how impotent that security order has become.

For Moscow, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili's mistake in finally taking the bait of Russian provocations and ordering his troops in South Ossetia last week was the opening they sought -- and for which they had been planning for some time.

South Ossetia is not, as some have suggested, tit-for-tat payback for American and European recognition, over Russian objections, of Kosovo's independence from Serbia. Russia has been "at war" with democratic Georgia for some time. Driven to distraction by Mr. Saakashvili's assertiveness and Georgia's desire to join NATO, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin first tried to bring the country to its knees through economic warfare beginning in 2005. He cut off access to Russian markets, expelled Georgians from Russia, quadrupled the price of Russian energy to Georgia, and severed transport links.

Georgia failed to collapse. To the contrary, it has flourished: After the Rose Revolution of 2003 ended the corrupt reign of Eduard Shevardnadze, the former Soviet foreign minister, Georgia instituted far-reaching reforms to its governing structures, cleaned up the endemic corruption that infected every facet of pre-Rose Revolution life, and found new markets for its products in Turkey and Europe. It persevered with some of the most profound and thorough economic and pro-business reforms ever undertaken by a developing country -- slashing taxes and government regulations, and privatizing state-owned enterprises. All of which is reflected in Georgia's meteoric rise on the World Bank's Doing Business indicators. The irrelevance of Russian economic sanctions to Georgia made the ideological challenge that the Rose Revolution posed to Putin's vision of Russia even more profound.....

What can the West do? The first step is for the U.S. and its allies to rush military and medical supplies to Tbilisi. If we want democracy to survive there, Georgians have to believe that we have their backs. At the moment, the tepidness of the Western response has given them serious cause for doubt. In addition, Washington should lead the effort to devise a list of economic and diplomatic sanctions toward Russia that impose real costs for what Moscow has done. Russia should know that the West has a greater capacity to sustain a new Cold War than Russia, with its petroleum-dependent economy, does.

Next, the West should make use of Russia's claim that its role in South Ossetia and Abkhazia is driven by the need to protect the populations there. If so, Moscow should have no objections to U.N.-sanctioned peacekeepers and observers moving into those two regions to replace the jerry-rigged system of "peacekeepers" that, until the war broke out, consisted of Russian troops, local separatist militaries and Georgian forces. If nothing else, the goal should be to put Mr. Putin and Dmitry Medvedev, the new Russian president, on their back foot diplomatically...

A LITTLE GIRL FROM LIMA AND MCCAIN

BACKGROUND HERE.

VICTIMS OF PUTIN'S RUSSIA: GEORGIA AND LITVINENKO

We've been blogging about how evil Putin is for years.

We called him the Chavez of the Urals when he banned the BBC from Russia's airwaves. A year ago.

We described him, Syria, Iran, Venezuela and China as the real axis of evil. More than a year ago.

Just over a year ago we said his arrest of Kasparov proved he's a tyrant.

And we've argued from the start that he was behind the Litvinenko assassination.

(Our first post on it was 11/25/06. WE DID 19 LONGISH POSTS.)

A man who can order that Litvinenko be assassinated with highly radioactive poison traceable to Russia is a man who can order the invasion of Georgia.

And any other nation on his border.

He must be taught a lesson.

Sooner rather than later.

Russia has been a bad actor ever since Putin took over, and he's getting worse.

We must neutralize him.

Sooner rather than later.

WE'VE ALREADY LET PUTIN GET AWAY WITH TOO MUCH FOR WAY TOO LONG.

MORE PROOF OF OBAMA'S DEEP ANTI-SEMITISM: OBAMA, GEORGE CLOONEY, AND GEORGE GALLOWAY

DON SURBER:
The First BFF: George Clooney

One London newspaper reported he is in constant contact with Democratic Sen. Barack Obama.

Another London daily reported Clooney just bought the rights to do a flick about Osama bin Laden’s driver.

This should go over well.

While the American press tries to catch up with the National Enquirer on the baby mama of the silver medalist in the 2004 vice presidential race, The London Daily Mail is breaking the big news: Obama texts George Clooney for advice.

And Clooney has acquired the rights to the story of Salim Hamdan, the BBF of Osama bin Laden, the London Guardian reported:

Clooney’s production company, Smokehouse, has bought the rights to a book about Salim Hamdan, an inmate at Guantánamo Bay who last week was sentenced to jail for his role in helping the al-Qaeda leader. The book, The Challenge, is by journalist Jonathan Mahler and tells the story of Hamdan’s capture and trial, defended by a US navy lawyer, Lieutenant Commander Charles Swift. It has had a big critical success.

Clooney will portray the Al Qaeda operative as a victim of Dubya, no doubt.

EXTREME MORTMAN:

From the Telegraph:

Hollywood star Clooney, 47, struck up a close relationship with Mr Obama and is now in regular contact by phone, text and email, according to reports.

Democratic sources claim the Oscar-winner has been sharing his views on policy, urging Mr Obama to take a more “balanced” stance on US relations with Israel.

But one Democratic insider claims their relationship could be “very risky” for Mr Obama’s election chances.

“’George is pro-Palestinian. And he is also urging Barack to withdraw unconditionally from Iraq if he wins,” the source told the Mail on Sunday.

GEORGE GALLOWAY:
What do George Clooney and I have in common?

Aug 11 2008 By George Galloway

GEORGE Clooney famously said he could never run for the presidency of the United States because he had "slept with too many women, done too many drugs and been to too many parties" - a bit like myself, apart from the drugs.

The other "Gorgeous George" is however reportedly advising the next president, Barack Obama, on everything from the Iraq War (against which both marched) to body language. Apparently the two are texting, emailing and talking on the phone almost daily.

Reports yesterday say Clooney is urging Obama to be more balanced on the Israel/Palestine issue and to unconditionally withdraw from the Iraq occupation.

The more I think of it, Clooney and I have more in common than just the looks.
  • Many of Obama's foreign policy gurus are fans of THE ISRAEL LOBBY, and believe that Israel is getting too favorable treatment form the USA, and that we should be more "even-handed" - code for worse to Israel and better to Hamas and Fatah and Hizballah.
  • Many of Obama personal friends are anti-Israel - like Khalidi and Cloooney.
  • Many of Obama's core supporters believe we went into Iraq for Israel and oil.
If you agree, then vote for Obama.

IF YOU DON'T AGREE, THEN YOU MUST VOTE FOR MCCAIN.

GEORGIA 2008: TYPICAL RUSSIAN AGGRESSION

Pundit tongues are wagging and pundit pens are scratching. Russia's invasion of Georgia is being blamed on Georgian adventurism and provocation.

That is a bunch of cowardly bull.

Russia had this invasion planned for a long time, and took advantage of the Olympics to do it when the world was elsewhere preoccupied.

There is nothing new here and no appeal to Georgian adventurism or provocation is needed to explain it.

Russia has invaded a peaceful neighbor just as it overthrew the legitimate governments of the Baltic States in 1940, just as it invaded Finland in 1940 (seizing historically Finnish territory that it retains to this day), just as it invaded Hungary in 1956, Czechoslovakia in 1968, and Afghanistan in 1978.

Presidents of 5 former Russian colonies are reportedly on the way to Tbilisi. That is the way to show solidarity. President Sarkozy is reportedly planning to travel to both Tbilisi and Moscow. That is a positive step, too. Troops and materiel to a valiant ally of the West should follow.

There is no easy way to deal with a marauding, aggressive nation like Russia. War is a terrible thing. We do not need a replay of August 1914. But the worst way is the way of appeasement, as initially suggested by Senator Obama. We do not need a repeat of September 1938, either.

OBAMA OWES THE NOMINATION TO A LIAR, CAD AND ADULTERER

Edwards campaigned in Iowa for a solid year - ALL the time knowing he a HUGE skeleton in his closet.

He had NO BUSINESS RUNNING.

Edwards won 30% of the vote and came in second.

This allowed Obama to win, and Obama's win in Iowa is what propelled him by Hillary and won him the nomination - just like Kerry in 2004 (whose win in Iowa propelled him by Dean).

If Edwards is not in the race, then Hillary wins Iowa and the nomination.

I wonder how Obama feels knowing that he owes EVERYTHING top the disrespectful and immoral Edwards - a liar and a cad and an adulterer.

What does this say about Obama's moral authority?

It proves he has NONE.

Obama owes his ENTIRE celebrity to that win in Iowa, and he owes that win to Edwards.

WOLFSON AGREES.

JEWS IN DANGER INSIDE GEORGIA TOO

Yes, there are some people from Israel caught in the crossfire, and even locally born Jews too:
(IsraelNN.com) As the Russian offensive against Georgia rages on, 40 Israeli teachers are trying to make their way out of Georgia, via Turkey or Armenia, and some 50 Jews have requested to make Aliyah (immigration to Israel).

The 40 teachers arrived in Georgia's capital city of Tbilisi on Friday in the framework of a vacation trip organized by the Histadrut Teachers Union. Upon landing, however, they abruptly found themselves in the middle of a war zone, with no way to leave. Arkia, the Israeli airline that flew them in, has already announced the cancellation of its next flight from Tbilisi to Israel, this coming Friday, because of the war situation.
A factory run by Israeli investors was also bombed by Russia's army of darkness. With this declaration of war, I'd say Vladimir Putin has fully shed the mask and shown that he is as bad as the Leninists who came before him.

Obama's Dual Citizenship Disaster: an Overview

Since the story broke late Saturday that Barack Obama's real Birth Certificate, now in Republican hands, has the name Barry Soetoro and not Barack Obama, as we predicted a couple of weeks ago, I notice that many people are still confused about the implications of dual citizenship for Obama. The matter is somewhat complex, so I've decided to try to provide a summary, with the help of resident expert "Judah Benjamin."

Indonesian Connection

Soetoro is the name on Obama's Birth Certificate (BC) because a new BC was issued when he was adopted by Lolo Soetoro, his step-father. His original BC, which we assume was issued for Barack Hussein Obama at birth, would have been sealed at the time of the adoption.

Barry Soetoro probably acquired Indonesian citizenship in approximately 1965-1966, and may still hold it. He possibly changed his legal name back to Barack Hussein Obama as an older child, teenager, or adult, possibly never did - but even if he did, this procedure would not result in a change to the BC. (If he never legally changed his name back, I imagine his current name on the Presidential ballot would be invalid.)

The Birth Certificate published by Obama on his campaign website (still there, by the way) and distributed to the media was forged because the real BC on file is in the name Soetoro, an identity he apparently wanted to hide from the American people. I am getting reports from different sources that Obama traveled to Pakistan in `81 with an Indonesian passport.

Prior to 2007 (and possibly earlier), Indonesian law did not permit dual citizenship. Thus, if Obama actively kept his Indonesian citizenship, his US citizenship could be challenged. I suspect that Obama may have dumped his Indonesian citizenship at some point along the way, to advance his political career. But I would not be shocked if he still holds it. This question, however, should not overshadow the serious problem of hiding his Indonesian identity from the electorate...
