OBAMA AND GINGRICH BOTH SUFFER FROM MPD

I talked at length yesterday on the radio show about how it appears that Obama and Gingrich both seem to have MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder).

I mean, in one week he went from saying he's going to sit down, you know, for tea, with our enemies, but then he's going to bomb our allies. I mean, he's gone from Jane Fonda to Dr. Strangelove in one week.--Mitt Romney

OBAMA

As most of you know I'm not that big a fan of Romney but he hit the ball out of the ball park with the above quote. Last week Obama announces that even though he thinks we should appease Al Qaeda in Iraq by cutting and running he would like to attack a country we still consider to be our ally. Huh?

Pakistan definitely has problems right now with Al Qaeda that must be dealt with but his comments are just illogical and irresponsible. Here is just a sample of Pakistan's response to his comments. Musharraf has a big problem on his hands and yet in being an ally of the U.S. he has had to withstand a lot of criticism and has dodged assassination attempts.

I'm not sure what will happen with Pakistan in the future. We may very well have to send in troops to aide Musharraf in dealing with Al Qaeda. But for someone who is against the War in Iraq and who says we should meet with dictators to all of a sudden say we should go to war with an ally just doesn't make any sense.

It is really hard to take Obama and Edwards seriously with some of the absurd things that come out of their mouths. Then you have Hillary, who is corrupt to the core. And we are worried about the Republicans in 08???

GINGRICH

One minute Newt Gingrich is saying something that makes me stand up and cheer and the next minute I'm left scratching my head. When conservative bloggers were first excited about a possible presidential run by Gingrich I couldn't muster much enthusiasm. There is much to like about Newt and when I surveyed the current crop at the time I thought it possible. Now that Fred is likely to enter the fray, not a chance, and thank God for that.

So what is the latest Newt has done to make me not only scratch my head but tick me off? He announced that he thinks the war on terror is phony. Who is he? John Edwards' twin brother. He said in this same speech that, "no one should believe we are winning this war." And this last statement is just completely ridiculous and irresponsible:

He reserved his most pointed criticism for the administration's handling of the global campaign against terrorist groups.

"We've been engaged in a phony war," said Gingrich. "The only people who have been taking this seriously are the combat military.

To imply that George W. Bush doesn't take the war seriously is just a slap in the face and completely un-true.

To be honest, this is the last straw for me. After saying "the Bush administration has become a Republican version of the Jimmy Carter Presidency...", attacking numerous Republicans, calling them "a pathetic bunch of pygmies" and then saying that the war on terror is phony, I'm at my limit. I admire and respect him but he has no business being President. He is erratic and unpredictable. This makes it hard to know what principles he really believes in, thus making it hard to trust him.

Like I said earlier, thank God for Fred Thompson!!

The 9/11 conspiracy nuts finally get the answer they deserve. Newt Gingrich doesn't beat around the bush and tells it like it is when questioned by the "truthers". You only need to watch about the first minute and a half of the video to see the good part.

FRED THOMPSON JUMPING IN TO PRESIDENTIAL RACE

It looks like Fred Thompson will officially jump into the Presidential Race for the Republican nomination over the 4th of July holiday. I know this news is making many conservatives happy including myself. We want an appealing alternative to the current crop and are hoping to make Fred Thompson a viable, top tier candidate. It is especially encouraging considering Newt Gingrich's latest disappointing statements.

UPDATE ON THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES FOR PRESIDENT

I found this article, Christian conservatives pledge support for '08 Thompson bid interesting. I must say that I'm not surprised at all. If you can't please this political conservative news junkie with the current crop of candidates there is a big, gaping hole. As I keep saying I hope Fred Thompson and Newt Gingrich get in the mix soon so we can see if they have a real chance.

Some were impressed with Mitt Romney at the first debate. I still can't bring myself to be jumping up and down about him for numerous reasons. Patrick found this article, Straw Meet Camel that expresses my sentiments to a tee up until the part where this guy turns to McCain instead. I think not!! Although, he also points out that he would prefer Thompson. It seems we all would!! Here are some excerpts from his article that echo my thoughts:

Count me unimpressed. At the time I reviewed Hugh Hewitt's book, I wrote, "Like Hewitt, were the election held today, I would vote for Mitt Romney, but unlike Hewitt, I am not very passionate about the former governor and have, over time, developed some qualms about him." As late as last week, in email correspondence between friends, I said the same.

I can no longer say that. It is not because Ann Romney gave money to Planned Parenthood. It is because this is the straw that broke the camel's back -- one light piece of straw piled on a mountain of political opportunism and reckless vacillation.

On October 7, 2001, President Bush told the nation, " We will not waver; we will not tire; we will not falter; and we will not fail. Peace and freedom will prevail." I can no longer trust that Mitt Romney has a spine strong enough not to go wobbly with it becomes convenient.

I'm sure I will post on the Fox News debate that is scheduled to happen tonight. Yet, I don't expect to learn anything earth shattering. I just know that it won't be quite the train wreck that the MSNBC one was because Chris Matthews will be absent and so will the ridiculously, biased questions.

My take is that if Gingrich and Thompson don't create an upset and knock one of the 3 front runners out this is what the most likely outcome will be.

IS NEWT GINGRICH VYING FOR DOBSON'S ENDORSEMENT?

In weighing my options for who I will support for the Republican nomination in 2008 many struggles have surfaced. Right now the front runner for my support is Rudy. The problem is since I am an Evangelical, pro-life Christian I know many of my fellow Christians will have a hard time supporting him.

I could care less who Falwell or Robertson endorse but the big question for me is who will James Dobson support? He has already made it clear that he won't support McCain for which I was immensely pleased but reality dictates that he probably won't endorse Rudy either. I see him having some difficulties with Romney so who does that leave?

Thus, I found it intriguing that Newt Gingrich's recent book, Rediscovering God in America has enabled him to make an appearance on Dobson's radio show yesterday and today. I like Newt so I'm pretty happy about this. After Rudy my 2nd and 3rd picks are Duncan Hunter and Newt Gingrich. Many people argue that Newt doesn't have a prayer and at one time I would've agreed with them but I see the winds changing. I don't know how much of a chance he has but he does have a shot.
