Proposed Murtha reelection poster

Since John Murtha has been in Congress since around the time of the Spanish-American War, I figured he may need some fresh new ideas for his next reelection campaign.

This seems to fit.

Back story here.

Good news for America. Bad news for the Copperheads.

Gateway Pundit has the good news for America and the bad news for Copperhead Democrats.

* Violence in Iraq is down by 50%.

* Civilian casualties in Iraq are down by 60%.
* Baghdad casualties are down by 75%.
* Basra violence is down by 90%.

* Terrorist attacks in Iraq are down by 80%.
* IED attacks down by 55%.
* Average daily attacks down by 42%.

* Foreign insurgent flow into Iraq down by more than 50%
* Suicide bombings down 70% since March.
* Foreign Terrorist flow into Iraq down by 50%.
* Diala Province violence down by 68%.

Oh, and 5000 troops are coming home this month.

The Politico reports that even the most egregious of Democrats (hint: his name rhymes with Burtha) have admitted that the U.S. military has won the war and that Iraq is a non-issue for voters.

And Don Surber points out that the New York Times is scraping the last smidgen of residue at the bottom of the "quagmire" barrel. The Times has resorted to scooping all other media outlets on... Iraq's illicit car-washes.

Benedict Murtha

HWT labels this artwork The face of the Left. It is reminiscent of John Murtha's statement that "we can't win militarily" in Iraq while we continue to win militarily.

Today's Democratic leadership cannot and will not admit that our troops are winning, even though the New York Times' op-ed columnists are saying so. John Murtha and Nancy Pelosi represent a failed and beaten Democratic contingent who cannot be called leaders. They are instead cheerleaders for a defeat that will never come and stewards for a policy of nothingness.

Some suspect that they suffer from a mild form of psychosis; a disease that the Washington Post calls "a state of denial." Voters will remind them soon that denial of very real American military successes and an inability to lead are an exceptionally poor combination.

JASON MATTERA CONFRONTS MURTHA WITH THE TRUTH

Murtha can't handle the truth!!! The above video is a MUST SEE!! Kudos to Jason Mattera of Young America's Foundation for having the guts to stand up to Murtha!! As some of you know Robin has done a great job of detailing the Haditha Marine injustice from the very beginning. It is despicable what Murtha said about these Marines before knowing the facts. What he has done to them is so dishonorable that he needed to resign, yesterday!!

Murtha Sued

It seems that at least two Marines are planning on suing John "I Was A Marine" Murtha over his public comments on the Haditha Incident once they are fully exonerated. From the first link:
Well, the Marine Corps investigator has now dropped all charges against 3 of the 8 accused Marines in the case, and only one Marine still stands accused of crimes at the scene. The others are charged with various after-the-fact issues that arose from investigations of Haditha, not the events themselves. Murtha’s aim, of course, in accusing the Marines of murder “in cold blood” was to pin the blame on Bush. But in the process of blaming Bush, he slandered those Marines.

One of those Marines, Col. Jeffrey Chessani, plans to sue Murtha once he’s exonerated.
I guess Murtha didn't follow events in Durham, North Carolina over the past year and a half.

The evidence is that the Marines were doing their job as trained and within the limits of the rules of engagement.
Based on that reasoning, the case against Wuterich is likely to fall apart too. He is the last Marine against whom charges from that night remain. If the charges against him fall, game over. Jack Murtha will have slandered Marines who acted according to their training during the course of ongoing combat.
Although Murtha is not a prosecutor he has certainly engaged in Nifongery. i.e. adverse pre-trial publicity on the part of a government agent, with reckless disregard for the facts.

The Marines may just have a case.

TODAY'S INSPIRATION--SGT. MATT LAMMERS

“Everybody keeps calling me a hero,” he says. “I have a hard time hearing that. I was just a soldier doing his job. The heroes are the men and women still over there. … I got to come back. I didn’t die. That’s a blessing.”

“I keep telling people I’m not the story,” he says. “I was just a soldier doing his job. The story is the men who saved my life.”--Sgt. Matt Lammers

The KC Star highlighted a local soldier who was wounded in Iraq and is recovering at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. The story is very inspirational and I found myself getting choked up several times. Here are some excerpts from the article, Infantryman's Latest Battle:
Lammers lost both legs and his left arm June 9 when his Humvee hit a buried explosive in Baghdad. Comrades saved his life, and now he’ll lean on other comrades as he begins at least a year of rehabilitation at the Center for the Intrepid, a gleaming, glass-and-metal center that opened this year to treat grievously injured soldiers.
..............

It was Lammers’ act of generosity that put him in that Humvee. Scheduled for a trip home, Lammers switched places to let another soldier go home for his first wedding anniversary.

Lammers and his men were returning to base in Baghdad when the Humvee drove over the explosive.
.................

Lammers probably will spend at least another year here, retraining his muscles and mind. He and his wife recently moved to base housing, where their daughters — Jaelen, 1, and Taena, 5 — will join them next month.

The hope is that Lammers will leave Texas in a year on new legs with a new arm. His doctors think he’s a good candidate for a new type of bionic arm that responds directly to a user’s nervous system.
..................

Peer motivation plays a huge role. Soldiers who lost a leg visit with soldiers who lost two; burn victims meet with burn victims. The idea is that soldiers with grievous wounds benefit from bonding with others facing the same challenges. The message: You’re not alone. You can do this. I can help.

“These guys don’t say to each other, ‘I’m sorry you got hurt,’ or ‘Oh, that’s a tragic injury,’ ” says Mark Heniser, Lammers’ physical therapist. “It’s like a locker room in here. They compete with each other. They tease each other. So we can’t then turn around and tell them there’s something they can’t do.”
....................

A total of 571 service men and women had lost limbs in Iraq and Afghanistan as of April 1, according to Pentagon statistics.
....................

Soldiers who lost limbs in Iraq have gone on to run laps with President Bush, take up snowboarding and run for Congress. Just as importantly, they’ve also gone back to work, held their babies and tied their shoes.

The newest devices give amputees unprecedented control and mobility.
.....................

Gary Lammers, principal at Holy Trinity Catholic School in Lenexa, worried like any parent but respected his son’s decision.

Asked now about his son’s service and his attitude, he pauses. His voice thickens.

“I well up with pride,” he says. “And at the same time, I understand that this strength comes from Matt and not me. But I’m so very proud to be his dad.”

How to Help:
To contribute to the Sgt. Matt Lammers Medical Fund, send checks made out to the fund to Country Club Bank, 13451 Briar St., Leawood, KS 66209. Contributions made by credit card are accepted by calling 816-751-1470.

When you look at men like Sgt. Matt Lammers you can't help but be so thank-ful and so proud of our men and women in the military. There are always some bad apples in the bunch but I think most are like Lammers and deserve our gratitude and support.

Those like John Murtha who would disgrace our soldiers without having all the evidence and without giving them the benefit of the doubt are traitors of the worst kind. Robin has been on top of the story on how the Haditha Marines are being cleared one by one of the crimes that Murtha unfairly accused them of. He owes those men and their families an apology and he owes the Country the decency of resigning.
