A Long Island teenager, allegedly radicalized by online videos of al Qaeda leaders, tried to fly overseas earlier this year in hopes of joining a branch of the terrorist group, telling an undercover agent he wanted to engage in a violent "jihad," U.S. officials said Wednesday.A convert to Islam at a young age who decided to throw his life away all for the sake of baseless hate and death.
In a criminal charging document made public on Wednesday, federal prosecutors in Brooklyn alleged that Justin Kaliebe, 18 years old, told undercover agents that he desired to travel to Yemen to join a group known as al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula or Ansar al-Sharia and participate in jihad, which he described as "doing the J word."
