HUGE EXPLOSION IN KABUL JUST HOURS AFTER OBAMA SPLITS

An explosion was heard in the Afghan capital, Kabul, on Wednesday, hours after U.S. President Barack Obama left Kabul following an unannounced visit during which he signed a strategic partnership agreement.

Hours after his speech a blast was reported in the Afghan capital, Kabul. Witnesses said the blast was in eastern part of the city, with one report saying it hit the Jalalabad road, where several foreign military bases are located. The Kabul police chief told BBC that two suicide bombers carried out the attack in the Pule Charkhi area of the city, but there is no word on casualties.

Fourth, we are pursuing a negotiated peace. In coordination with the Afghan government, my Administration has been in direct discussions with the Taliban. We have made it clear that they can be a part of this future if they break with al Qaeda, renounce violence, and abide by Afghan laws. Many members of the Taliban – from foot soldiers to leaders – have indicated an interest in reconciliation. A path to peace is now set before them. Those who refuse to walk it will face strong Afghan Security Forces, backed by the United States and our allies.
