POOR MATERNITY CARE IN NHS LED TO UNNECESSARY DEATHS OF 17 MOTHERS

The NHS in London has been criticised for its standard of maternity care.

According to a report on BBC Panorama, 17 women’s deaths, in the last 18 months, could have been avoided if the correct standard of care had been given.

An investigation was conducted after NHS London noticed a rise in the number of maternal deaths in 2009. These results revealed 17 out of 42 fatalities could have been prevented.
