US to build nuclear power plants
President Barack Obama has announced more than $8bn (£5bn) of federal loan guarantees to help build the first US nuclear power stations for 30 years.
Two new plants are to be constructed in the state of Georgia by US electricity firm Southern Company.
President Obama said the plants would be "safe and clean" and were needed to meet the country's future energy needs.
There have been no new nuclear power plants built in the US since the 1979 accident at Three Mile Island.
THIS IS GOOD.

I agree that it is good news. We should do this 10 times more - every year. Then we'll get somewhere.
However, it is inevitable that some uber-liberal, enviro-wacko, friend-of-The One group will sue and drive up the costs so much that it'll get shut down. He will claim the credit, knowing that it will go nowhere, and be able to maintain his cred among his syncophants.
Just my $0.02.
It's smoke and mirrors since O closed the Nevada waste site. Won't happen!
So he just closed Yucca Mountain ... I dunno, but storing nuclear waste in old oil barrels doesn't seem like a really good plan.
So now we have a bribe for a hoax.
I don't trust O'Bunko, at all.
While the idea of building more nuclear power plants is a good and sound idea,....
in this particular case it is a ruse by Obama, to goad Republicans into action on other issues.
The start date of these power plants is 2017 according to what I read.
Obama will cancel the power plants after he gets concessions from Republicans. Obama still believes in windmills and solar and unicorns.
Don't drink the kool aid. Just say no.
