BRRRRRR! BRRRRRRITAIN'S COLDEST WINTER IN A DECADE CONTINUES!

DAILY MAIL: No respite for battered Britain as after the 100mph killer gales, SNOW is set to blow in
After a weekend of 100mph gales which left one woman dead and toppled trees and power lines, Mother Nature has little respite in store.

Forecasters are warning of more fierce storms and the chance of snow.

Though the high winds are expected to ease today, more bad weather lies ahead. Weathermen blame the extreme conditions on plunging temperatures in north America.

Forecaster Brendan Jones, of Meteogroup, said: 'Be prepared for lots of windy and unsettled weather - and there's a chance of snow. Despite the fact it's unsettled there's going to be some quite cold air...

'At the moment it looks as though the winds will be at their worst from Wednesday night to Thursday morning.'

The coldest winter in Britain for ten years entrenched itself over the weekend.

High winds and torrential rain, peaking overnight on Saturday, brought down trees and caused localised flooding across Britain.

... The blustery wet weather contrasts with the dry - but icy - start to the year.

Temperatures in the first two weeks of January fell to below minus 12c in some parts of the country.
