SATMAR CONSIDERS IDF RECRUITMENT WORSE THAN LOSS OF LIFE

This happened a week ago during Holocaust Memorial Day, when rabbi Aaron Teitelbaum made another offensive statement:

Satmar Rebbe Aaron Teitelbaum this week lashed out at attempts to draft yeshiva students and advance an equal share of the burden in Israel, calling them "a decree worse than the annihilation of the Jewish people."

He went on to accuse the supporters of the move of being "worse than those who murdered us."

The rabbi made the remarks on the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day. It is unlikely, however, that he was aware that Israel was commemorating the memory of the six million Jews murdered by the Nazis that day.

That makes no difference. What he said to his followers is offensive in the extreme, and goes against the Torah's belief in the wonders of living.

He said that those working to draft yeshiva students were actually seeking to "cause us to leave religion."

A big lie since there's plenty of pious people in the army as it is.

"A black cloud is hanging these days over our brothers, the people of Israel living in the Holy Land," the rabbi said. "A malicious government has convened… and is seeking to uproot the Torah.

Yes, a shadow government run by the Satmar has formed a black cloud made from hats and suits within the space of a conference center/synagogue that hangs like a thorn in the side of its bloodbrothers over in Israel. And that awful cloud seeks to uproot the Torah and rewrite all the values we hold dear. "Oy gevalt" would not be enough to describe just how terrible a situation the Satmar are. They don't even deserve citizenship here. Any Satmar member who sides with such vile sentiments Teitelbaum expresses should not even venture into this country. And neither should he. To think, that such an awful man would preach and prefer cowering in ghettos to defending the nation against those who seek to destroy it. A major fiasco of a community they are.

SHIMON PERES ISN'T SORRY HE SIGNED THE OSLO ACCORDS

On a day like this, he had the gall to hold onto his delusions, which is offensive to the victims of terrorism that followed in the wake of the horrific deal:

Because of the accords, he says, there is a Palestinian peace camp.

No, there is not. There is only one that believes all Jews should be annihilated, and that's what there always was.

What's he saying isn't just offensive to the memories of people who lost their lives in the terrorist bombings that followed soon after, it's also offensive to American victims who lost their lives in attacks like the 9-11 bombing and even at Fort Hood. And it only shows how in his old age, Peres has failed to admit he's capable of making a mistake, selectively or otherwise.

UH-OH: DEADLY BIRD FLU STILL SPREADING IN CHINA

China has reported 11 fresh cases of bird flu, with the virus now appearing in the central province of Henan and the capital Beijing. 

The new cases of the H7N9 strain bring the total number of reported cases to 60. Two more people have now died. Authorities believe the virus is being spread through direct contact with infected poultry.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) said there was no evidence yet of human-to-human transmission. Michael O'Leary, the WHO's representative in China, said cases did not appear to be connected.

"There's no way to predict how it will spread but it's not surprising if we have new cases in different places like we do in Beijing," he told reporters. On Saturday a seven-year-old girl became Beijing's first confirmed case of the H7N9 strain. 

Two cases were reported in the central Henan province, while the others were seen in and around Shanghai, where the virus first appeared in February.

Two differing takes on Haredis who reject wider society, and a really atrocious revelation about an already disgraced politician

Dror Eydar wrote about the case of Haredi lunatics who held a barbecue on Holocaust Day. While he doesn't deny that this appears to have taken place, he says:

Daily newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth's decision to publish a picture of haredim enjoying barbecues on Holocaust Remembrance Day is nothing less than incitement to bigotry. On the evening before Holocaust Remembrance Day, Yedioth columnist Nahum Barnea "caught" dozens of haredim ostensibly barbecuing in Jerusalem's Sacher Park. It's not pretty. It's even a little annoying. Still, it doesn't say anything about the entire haredi public. But Yedioth decided to barbecue the ultra-Orthodox community. [...]

In other words, the masses have gathered at Yad Vashem, but the others? Well, the others ... Where did these kids come from, anyway, and which sect do they belong to? Can we differentiate between them and other haredim? Yedioth doesn't offer any background. Apparently, it doesn't owe its readers information. It provides the demon, the scapegoat. In Barnea's column, which followed the story, the author intertwined the trail of smoke from the barbecue with the plumes from the crematoria. He was smart enough to phrase it negatively: "The smoke was gray and thick. The smoke had nothing to do with the Holocaust." We almost thought otherwise.[...]

And here's the scoop: A writer for Yedioth's website Ynet told Galei Yisrael radio that his paper had photographs of a celebrity sunbathing on the beach during Holocaust Remembrance Day. The paper mulled publishing the pictures. In the end, it didn't. He wasn't haredi.

Okay, there's a legitimate argument here, that the sects these scum belonged to weren't mentioned, whether it's the Satmar or another just as deluded sect. Which suggests Ynet was trying to paint all Haredis with the same brush. And that the paper refused to publish the snapshots of a celeb on the beach that day is another grave minus.

Even so, the way he describes the paper publishing a picture of an atrocious scene is ludicrous. The public doesn't have the right to know that somebody was disgracing the nation, even if it was only a handful? What matters is that they failed to be balanced and publish the celeb's pic of his disgraceful ignorance and disrespect. And for that, they should be looked upon with just as much shame. It shows they're selective and that celebs who ignore important memorials are apparently a "protected" class.

There is a valid argument that can be made that the paper did blow it out of their wretched biases. But that doesn't mean we should act as apologists.

Mati Shemoelof had another take on this:

The publication in Yedioth Ahronoth of a photo showing haredim barbecuing in Jerusalem's Sacher Park on the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day was a wise move. Freedom of speech is an important value. It would be wrong to suppress a photograph that makes us uncomfortable, especially because it is dangerous to deny the problem and pretend it doesn't exist.

Many haredim, like many secular people, do not always agree with the hegemonic narrative of Holocaust Remembrance Day. The desire to play down this difference does not sit well with freedom of speech. The media have the right and the duty to print troubling photos pointing to conflicts that occur on sensitive days like Holocaust Remembrance Day and Memorial Day for Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Terrorism.

We must not try to prettify reality. Most of the haredim who held barbecues on Sunday evening knew that it was the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day. No one in Israel could miss this. Everyone — Arab or Jews, secular or religious, rich or poor, knows this is a remembrance day that unites the entire nation and should be honored.

But those people knowingly chose to demonstrate disrespect for those Holocaust survivors still among us. We don't have to compare their actions to sacrilege, as did Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger. After all, this national holiday was created by the state, which is no one's spiritual authority. People are free to go wherever they want on any day they want. Still, if the celebrants examined their own consciences, they might have decided to behave differently.

He's right that the picture should have been published, and good that it was. But Ynet's failure to publish the unnamed celebrity alongside it sabotages the ability to give real credit to the paper for doing so. That's the vital point.

With that told, we now arrive at the third part, which focuses on abominable comments made by the veteran leader of Shas, Aryeh Deri. He said:

"Holocaust Remembrance Day does not apply to haredi [ultra-Orthodox] Jews," Ultra-Orthodox Shas party Co-chairman Aryeh Deri said in an interview with haredi radio station Kol Barama set to air Thursday night.

"Personally, I don't see any sanctity or distinctiveness in this day. Israel's Chief Rabbinate has designated the 10th of Tevet [the Hebrew month corresponding to December-January] as a general mourners' day, and that is they day when, religiously speaking, we remember the victims of the Holocaust. Then came the state, the secular authorities, and decided that Holocaust Remembrance Day would be in the month of Nisan, and we all know that you don't mourn during the month of Nisan [March-April] and that there are special rules on the issue in Jewish law."

Religious law is not a defense for these obscene comments he made, and who is he to judge or dictate? In one fell swoop, he's desecrated the memory of many Holocaust victims and survivors, and embarrassed many decent Haredis by claiming de facto that they're not part of the Jewish nation. He's embarrassed many decent Haredis too by speaking in their name.

Deri said the Nisan date had been chosen because it the date on which the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising began 70 years ago. Deri argued that the anniversary of the uprising should not serve as the general day of remembrance, because many had been killed in the uprising.

"Some 200 to 300 young people launched the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, and in other ghettos there were more survivors. Is the grandmother who survived in Lodz worth less than those 200 individuals who launched the uprising?" Deri said.

I can't understand the garbled babble this man's coughing out. And since when did anyone ever say that a grandmother who survived the horrors didn't matter? That's why for many years, Holocaust survivors have been invited up to the podiums at Yad Vashem to light memorial candles.

"No one can come and tell us about the Holocaust. The Holocaust Remembrance Day that 'they' declared because of the Warsaw ghetto doesn't apply to us as haredi Jews," he said.

All he's done is prove he hasn't learned a thing in his life about respect for innocent human life no matter what the religious standing of a person happens to be, given anyone with common sense a reason to recoil in horror, and explain perfectly why it's very lucky he's not in the coalition.

INCONTROVERTIBLE PROOF THE TERM "UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANT" IS A SHAM AND PROPAGANDA

Er, um... how do they know the person or persons in question are "undocumented" unless they ask for a legal document or legal proof the person or persons in question came here... er, um... legally?

MEMORIAL DAY FOR ISRAEL'S FALLEN IN WAR AND TERRORISM

MK Danny Danon's written about this year's Memorial Day for fallen soldiers and victims of terrorist attacks:

Today, we must remember not only the heroic acts of the fallen, but the heroism of bereaved families: of the parents, who chose to live on after that horrific knock on their door; of the brothers and sisters, who had to face a harsh reality; of the orphans, whose father was taken from them in an instant and turned into a hero who can never truly help them; and of the widows, who protect their children as lionesses protect their cubs. The report cites a group called "Youths against the Settlements" as saying that Bennett's visit, alongside "radical settlers, was "a step that expresses escalation, provocation and indifference to Muslim feelings."

Arutz Sheva's Dalit Halevy reported that the Islamist organizations see visits by Jews to places that are also holy to Islam as defiling those places.

The Islamist website also reported that the IDF did not allow the Arab governor of Hevron to enter the Cave in order to pray. The Palestinian Authority (PA) governor called this "a harsh violation of the freedom of religious practice."

Spoken by the same kind of people who believe Jews - and Christians - are not worthy of free religious practice. Shameful.

The families of the murdered girls have asked the public to assist them in preventing the release of Dakamsa.

FRANK GAFFNEY URGES OKLAHOMA GOVERNOR TO SIGN BILL PREVENTING SHARIA INTO EFFECT

Gaffney, one of the best experts on the subject, has urged the OK governor to sign into law the bill that can prevent US courts from approving sharia:

The founder of a group that has voiced concern about the growing influence of radical Islam within the U.S. asked Oklahoma's governor on Friday to sign a bill that would prohibit foreign laws from being enforced in state courtrooms.

“It is not to say that all Muslims are a threat,” said Frank Gaffney, founder and president of the Center for Security Policy. “It is the case, however, that those who embrace and submit to Sharia and insist on, according to its doctrine, making the rest of us submit to it, are a danger.”

CAIR is predictably opposed to this, and Gaffney reminds that:

Gaffney said the Council on American-Islamic Relations is associated with the Muslim Brotherhood, which is known for engaging in political violence and was responsible for creating Hamas, which the U.S. has designated a terrorist organization. He said the council was founded as a political fundraiser and to do political warfare for Hamas in 1993. Gaffney also said the council has roots in the Islamic Association of Palestine. Gaffney said his information came from a memorandum dealing with the council, which was an unindicted co-conspirator in a 2004 Hamas funding case filed in federal court in Dallas.

“Anyone who considers the Council on Islamic Relations what it professes to be — just a civil rights organization speaking for the Muslims of the United States and not as a Muslim Brotherhood front engaged in influence operations and, frankly, subversion in our country — is grossly mistaken, and is, I'm afraid, unwittingly perhaps, but nonetheless aiding and abetting those engaged in what the Muslim Brotherhood itself calls civilization jihad against the United States,” Gaffney said.

I hope the OK governor will understand these concerns and finally sign into law a bill that America is seriously in need of.

A girl of seven is being treated in hospital in Beijing, in the first case of H7N9 "bird flu" reported by Chinese officials in the capital. 

The child, whose parents are poultry traders, developed a fever, sore throat and headache on Thursday. Her condition is said to be stable.

APPARENTLY, SHE DIDN'T HAVE DIRECT CONTACT WITH POULTRY.

SO THIS MIGHT INDICATE THAT THIS STRAIN OF THE VIRUS IS MUCH MORE COMMUNICABLE.

AND DANGEROUS.

Hagia Sophia was built to be a Church in the 13th century.

This Church has been a museum for a long time - Attaturk made it into a Museum.

This is a very sad development indeed. 

The Church is actually far older than that. 

It is the third Church on the site, the first was built in the 5th century, as was the second. 

The third was built in the sixth century, and survived with many alterations and repairs through numerous earthquakes and other disasters. 

But the worst disaster that befell it was the Muslim conquest. 

It was used as a mosque beginning in the 15th century. 

The secular government of Ataturk converted it into a museum in 1935. 

Using it as a mosque again means that Kemalism is dead, and Turkey is now a jihadist state.

NAFTALI BENNETT RECEIVED DEATH THREAT LETTER FROM HAREDI EXTREMISTS

A very grave act was committed, one that's required police investigation:

Economics and Trade Minister Naftali Bennett has received a letter warning him that anonymous antagonists performed a mystical ritual to curse him and his family for policies that infuriate the ultra-Orthodox community.

The message arrived at Bennett’s office on Wednesday and declared that the senders invoked a “Pulsa Dinura,” or “lashes of fire,” against him to bring about his early demise.

“You will die you., The Pulsa Dinura has been done to you,” the letter read. It promised that Bennett would end his days like former prime minister Ariel Sharon, who has been in a coma since suffering a stroke in 2006.

“Already, you will have no peace at home,” the letter continued. “A bitter life awaits you. From this day your life is ruined.”

Although the missive was not signed it referred to ultra-Orthodox rabbis and their anger at Bennett.

“It is better not to mess with Torah sages,” the note warned. “Just one tear of theirs is enough to paralyze you for life. [You are] one who caused grief to the ultra-Orthodox and rose to prominence, but in the end you will be like Sharon.”

Bennett’s bureau reported the incident to the police for investigation.

Some extra details here:

The letter's closing remark was: "All those who hurt the haredim achieved glory, but you'll end up like (Ariel) Sharon."

The ministry estimated the letter is related to the recently proposed outline for equal share of the burden, which includes a haredi draft. [...]

At the end of the letter the author hints at its background: "You should not play with the Torah leaders: They shed one tear and you're paralyzed for life."

On Wednesday, Bennett presented a plan to integrate haredim in the workforce, including a refund of occupational training for haredim who acquire a profession and find a job. These will also receive a grant for their efforts.

The new intiatives have raised an uproar in the haredi sector, and haredi Knesset members and the haredi media stepped up their rhetoric against Bennett, who has been referred to as "Satan" and "Amalek."

In March, MK Moshe Gafni (United Torah Judaism) accused Bennett of "declaring war on the Torah world," and lately Shas MK Aryeh Deri's son issued a statement which said: "Remember what Habayit Hayehudi did to you," alluding to Amalek.

How strange that despite Sharon's sadistic, traitorous acts against Israel towards the end of his career, including some acts of appeasement for the Haredis, they still come close to referencing him as though he were an enemy of theirs. In any case, this is a very serious case wherein a threat of violence was made all because they don't want to serve in the army/workforce. I hope the criminals who sent that threat letter get caught, and Bennett's office did the right think to call in the police to investigate the matter.
