SOROS: GREECE AND PORTUGAL SHOULD QUIT THE EURO AND THE EU SHOULD SELL EURO-BONDS

George Soros, the US speculator turned billionaire philanthropist, has suggested both Greece and Portugal quit the European Union (EU) and the eurozone because of their massive debts.

“One has so mishandled the Greek problem that the best way forward at present might be an orderly exit” with Greece leaving both the EU and the euro common currency, he said in an interview published yesterday by the German magazine Spiegel.

He suggested the same might go for Portugal. “The EU and the euro would survive it.”

... Soros also suggested the time had come for eurozone members to accept the introduction of eurobonds.

“Whether you like it or not, the euro exists. And for it to function properly, countries sharing the currency must be able to refinance a large part of their debt under the same conditions.

Berlin is opposed to the introduction of such bonds, but Soros suggested Germany, as Europe's strongest financial partner, should be responsible for defining the rules for its introduction.

Soros, who made over US$1bil by betting against the British pound in 1992, also said he had no intention of playing the market against the common european currency.

“I am certainly not betting against the euro. Because the Chinese have a huge interest in an alternative to the dollar and will do everything possible to help Europeans save it,” he said.

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) was peppered Sunday with questions about her thoughts on gay rights, but largely refused to engage them, arguing that those issues aren't on the front of voters' minds.

"I am running for the presidency of the United States. I'm not running to be anyone's judge," Bachmann said on "Meet the Press."

The winner of the Ames straw poll this weekend faced aggressive questioning in several of her appearances on the Sunday morning talk show circuit related to her opposition to same-sex marriage and controversial past statements toward gays and lesbians.

NYTIMES:

The hosts of the shows also pressed Mrs. Bachmann on past statements about social issues.

On ABC’s “This Week,” Mrs. Bachmann was asked about a statement she made in 2006 that being gay was the equivalent of ”personal bondage, personal despair, and personal enslavement.”

Mrs. Bachmann declined to say whether she still believed those words, saying only that “I am not running to be any person’s judge. And I give — I ascribe dignity and honor to all people, no matter who they are. And that’s how I view people.”

On “Meet the Press,” she gave a similar answer to the same question.

“I don’t judge them. I don’t judge them,” she told host David Gregory. “I’m running for the presidency of the United States.”

Mrs. Bachmann would not respond to questions about whether she would appoint a gay or lesbian person to her administration or as a judge, saying only that her criteria would be whether that person had a commitment to the Constitution, were competent, and shared her views.

“That’s all I can tell you. I’m not judging,” she said on NBC.

From the grilling Michele Bachmann got today on Meet The Press, you'd think that the right of homosexuals to get a marriage certificate - (instead of a partnership certificate which guarantees the same rights) - was the most important issue facing Americans today.

I think the right to keep as much as we can of the fruits of our labors - instead of sending them to DC for career politicians and lobbyists and bureaucrats to spend - is the most important issue of the day because, if we don't get our fiscal house in order then we cannot finance WW4.

The loss of market confidence in economic leadership in key countries like the United States and Europe coupled with a fragile economic recovery have pushed markets into a new danger zone, something that policymakers have to take seriously, the head of the World Bank said on Sunday.

Speaking at the Asia Society dinner in Sydney, Robert Zoellick also said the global economy was going through a multi-speed recovery, with developing countries now the source of growth and opportunity.

"What's happened in the past couple of weeks is there is a convergence of some events in Europe and the United States that has led many market participants to lose confidence in economic leadership of some of the key countries," he said.

"I think those events combined with some of the other fragilities in the nature of recovery have pushed us into a new danger zone. I don't say those words lightly ... so that policymakers recognize and take it seriously for what it is."

DEFINITION: "STIMULUS SPENDING"

Stimulus spending is a left-wing concept based on Keynesian economics - (a branch of economics often miscredited with ending the Great Depression).

It holds that taking money away from the people who earn it and sending to Washington DC - so career politicians and lobbyists and bureaucrats can spend it - is better for the economy than letting the people who earned it spend it.

Think about it.

Do you really believe that

1. taking money away from the people who earn it
2. and sending to Washington DC
3. so career politicians and lobbyists and bureaucrats can spend it

can be better for the economy than letting the people who earned it spend it!? It's an insane concept, only more so in our globally competitive economy.

A vital and competitive global economy can only be based on efficiently producing what PEOPLE want and not on producing what POLITICIANS and LOBBYISTS and BUREAUCRATS want. The bigger the Left makes our government's presence our economy, the less globally competitive we become and the poorer our nation will become.

LOOK AT IT THIS WAY: If government "stimulus spending" were really effective, the the USSR would be the biggest economy and the Soviet Union would today be the best place in the world to live.

And don't tell me how good the Chinese economy is doing as a counter-example. That's wrong. China only climbed out of abject poverty because Deng Xiaoping opened up China and allowed a free market. The tyrannical Chinese Communist Party still calls too many shots in their economy, and this has led to the development of extremely dangerous BUBBLES in China (especially in real estate) - and all bubbles eventually burst.

And don't tell me that socialistic Western Europe and AKA the EU is a vital economy. They are faltering under the weight of government spending just like us. The governments of Greece and Spain and Ireland and Italy and Belgium - and even France - are not withering under the weight of debts grown overly large because of military spending. They are collapsing because if their socialistic spending.

Stimulus spending is just another word for socialism, and it always fails miserably to achieve its goals.

History proves that prosperity and continually improving living standards are best achieved by competitive enterprises competing in a free marketplace, and not by government spending, stimulus spending, or 5-year plans.

The Democrat Party has bankrupted our federal government and several state governments by pursuing socialistic policies. To end the current recession and prevent the downfall of our economy we must end these policies. To end these polices we must throw every single Leftist out of every single office in the land.

We can start with Leftist Number One: OBAMA.

Obama is the FIRST President to actively denigrate Christians and Christianity while simultaneously bowing down to Muslims and Sharia law.

Obama made a great show of having many homosexuals at his “Easter egg roll” rubbing Christians’ noses in what he called a “teachable moment” against “the forces of homophobia and hate.”

Easter is Christianity’s major holy day. Why did he not mock and insult Muslims in the same way?

Why did Obama not shove a “teachable moment” into the faces of Muslims?

Earlier this year, Obama forced Christians to watch in dismay as he hijacked the Christian holiday of Easter to endorse homosexual child rearing, and he used Ramadan to endorse the construction of a massive mosque on the site of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He clearly hates Christianity and embraces Islam, as well as homosexuality. It’s only unclear which one he prefers, or fears, more. It seems to be Islam since he didn’t include any gays, lesbians, transgenders, transexuals, cross-dressers, or pre-ops at his Ramadan celebration.

This is a deadly double standard by a man who refused to attend the National Day of Prayer breakfast, refused to attend the Boy Scouts of America (because of their policy of protecting boys from potential “gay” predators) and wants to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act. He and his wife Michele attended Jeremiah Wright’s hate-filled “church” that promoted overt racism and black liberation theology for years. This is Obama’s sole connection with what the media think is legitimate Christianity.

Why is the media as silent about Obama’s purposeful neglect of the gay, lesbians and transgender community” when it comes to his Muslim holiday celebration as they are about that fact that the California city of Bell’s entire corruption scandal was 100% Democrat?

RAISING INCOME TAXES ON THE MOST SUCCESSFUL EARNERS IS IMMORAL

The Left is foaming at the mouth: they MUST raise income taxes on the wealthy. To some that means "millionaire's and billionaires" - to others it means folks earning more than $200,000.year. To Obama is means both, somehow; (I think this ism because Obama is stupid).

I think not only think it's bad because it would slow the economy and therefore LOWER revenues; I think it's IMMORAL.

It's immoral that people who are more successful and EARN each year more than #$200,000 - and even people earn a BILLION per year - should be penalized because they are among the elite ACHIEVERS.

Remember folks, the Left ain't talking about tax rich people's NET WORTH by some sort of excise tax. The Left is talking about raising the INCOME TAX - a tax on what people EARN.

Why should a person who can EARN a million bucks be forced to send more money to Washington so career politicians and lobbyists can decide how to spend it!?!?

The person who EARNED it has a moral right to spend as much of it as he wants on whatever he wants.

We have a MORAL right to the fruits of our labors - TO WHAT WE EARN!

Lincoln made this MORAL IMPERATIVE the bedrock of his opposition to slavery.

Raising the income tax is fiscally wrong and morally wrong.

There is not a single good reason to raise the income tax on ANYONE.

The only reason the Left - and the Democrat party the control - wants to do it is VISCERAL: they have a visceral need to TAKE STUFF AWAY FROM THEIR OPPONENTS AND GIVE IT TO THEIR FACTIONS.

OBAMA admitted as much during the 2008 Democrat presidential debates when he admitted that raising the capital gains tax would lower receipts, but that he would do it anyhow "in the name of 'fairness'": HOT AIR (2008):

SENATOR OBAMA: Well, Charlie, what I’ve said is that I would look at raising the capital gains tax for purposes of fairness.

We saw an article today which showed that the top 50 hedge fund managers made $29 billion last year — $29 billion for 50 individuals. And part of what has happened is that those who are able to work the stock market and amass huge fortunes on capital gains are paying a lower tax rate than their secretaries. That’s not fair.

And what I want is not oppressive taxation.

I want businesses to thrive and I want people to be rewarded for their success.

But what I also want to make sure is that our tax system is fair and that we are able to finance health care for Americans who currently don’t have it and that we’re able to invest in our infrastructure and invest in our schools.

And you can’t do that for free, and you can’t take out a credit card from the Bank of China in the name of our children and our grandchildren and then say that you’re cutting taxes, which is essentially what John McCain has been talking about. And that is irresponsible.

You know, I believe in the principle that you pay as you go, and you don’t propose tax cuts unless you are closing other tax breaks for individuals. And you don’t increase spending unless you’re eliminating some spending or you’re finding some new revenue. That’s how we got an additional $4 trillion worth of debt under George Bush.

That is helping to undermine our economy, and it’s going to change when I’m president of the United States.

MR. GIBSON: But history shows that when you drop the capital gains tax, the revenues go up.

SENATOR OBAMA: Well, that might happen or it might not. It depends on what’s happening on Wall Street and how business is going. I think the biggest problem that we’ve got on Wall Street right now is the fact that we’ve got a housing crisis that this president has not been attentive to and that it took John McCain three tries before he got it right.

And if we can stabilize that market and we can get credit flowing again, then I think we’ll see stocks do well, and once again I think we can generate the revenue that we need to run this government and hopefully to pay down some of this debt.

Read and listen very carefully to this. The higher priority for Obama isn’t to raise revenue; it’s to ensure fairness.

In order to do that, he will have the government take a bigger share of the gains and redistribute them through social programs to others. The pretense of having more money acts as a veneer for good, old-fashioned redistributionism.
