Pakistan has ordered the departure of up to 20 percent of the roughly 150 U.S. Special Operations forces trainers in that country in the wake of a series of clashes between the two governments, a U.S. military official said.

Between 25 and 30 trainers were “told to leave” in the weeks before the U.S. commando raid that killed Osama bin Laden this month, apparently in response to an earlier incident involving a CIA employee who shot and killed two Pakistanis in Lahore, the official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive relationship. Pakistan had threatened to reduce the U.S. presence there after grudgingly releasing the employee, Raymond Davis, in March.

In the 2009 Copenhagen climate accord, 21 developed nations and the European Union agreed to provide $30 billion over three years to help poorer nations adapt to climate change and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

But nearly two years later, tracking these “fast start” pledges — and what specific programs the funds have been used for — has proved difficult, according to a new report from the World Resources Institute.

Obama administration members are participating in international climate talks in Greenland in an effort to focus attention on polar melting even as new data suggest that the rate of melting is much higher than anticipated.

The WRI report concludes that “most developed countries are making tentative progress toward delivering” pledged funds. But the group urged more detailed reporting of how the funds were being spent.

Lawsuit alleges Iran helped plan 9/11

Families of victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks filed documents in federal court this week suggesting Iran played a role in the attacks, even though a U.S. government inquiry concluded otherwise in 2004.

New papers filed in an existing lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Manhattan accuse Iran and Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group with Iranian ties, of helping al Qaeda plot the terror attacks.

"Iran and Hizballah did have prior knowledge of planning for the 9/11 attacks," said the documents, which accuse Iran of "direct support for, and sponsorship of, the most deadly act of terrorism in American history."

Ellen Saracini, whose United Airlines pilot husband was flying the plane that was hijacked and crashed into the World Trade Center, said the allegations about Iran's involvement in the attacks were not new. They were filed in court this week because it did not appear the U.S. government had fully investigated them.

"It's a little disturbing that our government hasn't taken more responsibility in finding who was involved with the attacks," she said.

If proven true, then we should attack Iran at once. If not sooner.

ARCHAEOLOGISTS FIND MONA LISA'S SKULL

A “female-sized” skull was discovered in the burial grounds under the St. Ursula convent in Florence on May 19.

Researchers are searching for the bones of Lisa Gherardini Del Giocondo, the wife of a rich Italian silk merchant who has long been rumoured as the famous painting’s muse.

The Mona Lisa, which hangs in the Louvre in Paris, is also known as “La Gioconda.” It was painted in the early 1500s when Gherardini was alive. She is believed to have died in 1542.

The idea is to reconstruct her face using her real skull and compare it to the painting to see if they match.

The skull was found 1.5 metres under the convent’s original floor near fragments of human ribs and vertebrae, according to excavation officials.

Researchers will now compare DNA from the skull to bones of two children buried nearby who are believed to be Gherardini’s kids.

China Gives Pakistan 50 Fighter Jets

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — China has agreed to immediately provide 50 JF-17 fighter jets to Pakistan, a major outcome of a visit by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani to Beijing this week, Pakistani officials said Thursday.

China and Pakistan have jointly produced the JF-17 aircraft, but the new planes would be equipped with more sophisticated avionics, the officials said. The latest jet fighters would be paid for by China, they said.

The announcement came as Pakistan’s already tense relations with the United States soured further after the killing of Osama bin Laden deep inside Pakistan on May 2.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday Israel would object to any withdrawal to "indefensible" borders, adding he expected Washington to allow it to keep major settlement blocs in any peace deal.

In a statement after President Barack Obama's speech outlining Middle East strategy, Netanyahu said before heading to Washington that "the viability of a Palestinian state cannot come at the expense of Israel's existence".

Failure to honor its commitment would seriously impair America’s ability to negotiate future accords.

Israel is debating whether to impose another 90-day construction freeze in Judea and Samaria in exchange for promises by US President Barack Obama, including a promise to veto a Security Council resolution recognizing a Palestinian state based on pre-1967 lines. Would such an agreement be binding under US law? On Obama? On his successor? Would US support for a Palestinian state violate an existing agreement?

Several weeks ago it was reported that to induce PA President Mahmoud Abbas to return to negotiations, Obama offered “to formally endorse a Palestinian state based on the borders [sic] of Israel before the 1967 Middle East war” (“Risks and Advantages in US Effort in Middle East,” New York Times, October 6).

Leaving aside why Abbas needs to be induced to return to negotiations intended to culminate in the creation of a Palestinian state (for the first time in history), such a promise would breach an agreement between the US and Israel entered into on April 14, 2004, by an exchange of letters between president George W. Bush and prime minister Ariel Sharon.

US SUPPORT, or failure to oppose, a Security Council resolution for a Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 lines (these were armistice lines, not borders) would also be inconsistent with US policy going back to 1967, when the Security Council adopted Resolution 242. Famously, that resolution’s reference to territories, not “all the” territories, or even “the” territories, at the insistence of the US, over the objections of Syria and other Arab states, was intended to ensure that Israel would not be required to give up all the territory it had captured.

The letter from Sharon states:

“I attach for your review the main principles of the Disengagement Plan... According to this plan, the State of Israel intends to relocate military installations and Israeli villages and towns in the Gaza Strip, as well as other military installations and a small number of villages in Samaria.

The letter from Bush states:

“We welcome the disengagement plan you have prepared... The United States appreciates the risks such an undertaking represents. I therefore want to reassure you on several points...

“Third... In light of new realities on the ground, including already existing major Israeli population centers, it is unrealistic to expect that the outcome of final-status negotiations will be a full and complete return to the armistice lines of 1949... It is realistic to expect that any final status agreement will only be achieved on the basis of mutually agreed changes that reflect these realities.”

The letters were both dated the same day. In carefully drafted language, they listed a series of commitments by Israel and the US, respectively.

A reading of the letters leaves no doubt that they were intended to memorialize an agreement between the US and Israel.

A concurrent resolution, adopted June 22, 2004, states that Congress “strongly endorse[s] the principles articulated by President Bush in his letter dated April 14, 2004, to Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon...”

Israel implemented the disengagement at great human and material cost. All the Jewish communities in Gaza were destroyed. Thousands of Jews were forcibly removed from the towns and villages they had built and in which they had lived and worked for many years, some all their lives. Many still have no permanent homes or jobs.

Obama’s offer “to formally endorse a Palestinian state based on the borders of Israel before the 1967 Middle East war,” if in fact made, is thus clearly inconsistent with president Bush’s “reassure[ing]” Sharon that “in light of new realities on the ground, including already existing major Israeli population centers... it is realistic to expect that any final-status agreement will... reflect these realities.”

the 2004 letter from Bush linked above was in connection with Israel's withdrawal from Gaza, which as we now know resulted in an Iranian proxy on Israel's southern border. So to go back on those pledges is particularly onerous because it shows Israel that land for peace not only is a joke as far as the Palestinians are concerned, but also that U.S. assurances as inducements for territorial withdrawal cannot be relied on.

Karen Lugo on Town Hall writes about the dangers of appeasing Islam, and notes the following:

The most culturally restrictive of the European concessions to Islam are the incitement-to-hate laws. Just the chance that racially-toned speech may trigger an angry reaction can provoke a criminal investigation. Several high profile “hate speech” prosecutions have demonstrated that the loss of speech freedoms will inhibit the ability of Europeans to define their culture according to their own Enlightenment values. Dearborn’s recent pre-emptive legal smackdown of Terry Jones’ demonstration near a mosque shows a similar erosion of vital expressive rights in the United States.

This has prompted me ask why rallies similar to the Support Denmark campaign aren't being organized to help Europe. Let's also recall that France gave America the Statue of Liberty, and if we don't come to their aid, for example, we've betrayed the very country that gave America a symbol of freedom, one that the al-Qaeda was plotting to destroy among several targets a decade ago.

If we don't defend the country that donated one of America's most important monuments, we'll have failed to defend freedom domestically too. That's why it's time for freedom-loving Americans to start coming in defense of France, to name but one place where Islam is menacing. And it can be done by forming a rally calling for European political bodies to start fixing their own very flawed law systems.

Saying the world was tired of "nothing but stalemate" in the Arab-Israeli conflict, and complaining that "settlement activity continues" while the "Palestinians have walked away from talks," Obama said Israelis cannot obtain the dream of a democratic and Jewish state through "occupation."

Obama called for "two states for two peoples" with permanent borders based on the "1967 lines with agreed upon swaps." The borders referred to as "1967 lines" are in fact the lines agreed upon in the 1949 armistice, following which Jordan occupied Judea and Samaria for 19 years. The armistice lines, considered indefensible by defense experts, are often called "Auschwitz borders" in Israel.

Oh, thanks a lot for perpetuating the lie of "occupation".

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said on Thursday Israel would object to any withdrawal to "indefensible" borders, adding he expected Washington to allow it to keep major settlement blocs in any peace deal.

Here's some advice: don't expect anything from Obama. Because he won't recognize Israel's rights at all.

Knesset members on the Right expressed outrage on Thursday night at US President Barack Obama's call for the creation of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps in an exchange of territory for security.

They called upon Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to reject Obama's plan when he meets with him on Friday in Washington.

"Barack Hussein Obama adopted the staged plan for Israel's destruction of Yasser Arafat, and he is trying to force it on our prime minister," said Likud MK Danny Danon. "All that was new in the speech was that he called for Israel to return to 1967 borders without solving the crisis. Netanyahu has only one option: To tell Obama forget about it."

National Union MK Michael Ben-Ari also slammed Obama's speech, calling it "a landmine with pretty wrapping."

Environment Minister Gilad Erdan, who as a minister close to Netanyahu must be more diplomatic, complained on Channel 2 that according to Obama's approach, the Palestinians would receive their demands on borders before negotiations begin.

"Once they have everything from the start, they have no reason to make any concessions," Erdan said.

And they never will. Netanyahu shouldn't even go to Washington at all.

Authorities say multiple blasts have rocked a city in Nigeria's restive northeast.

A spokesman for Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency said the blasts occurred Thursday morning at three locations in the city of Maiduguri. Yushau Shuaib did not say if anyone had been injured or killed.

The police blamed a radical sect locally known as Boko Haram for a blast last Saturday that killed two bystanders at a Maiduguri bus stop.

Boko Haram members have targeted police and clerics in a string of killings over the last year, attacked churches and engineered a massive prison break.

A man claiming to speak for the group told the BBC recently that they were rejecting an amnesty offered by a newly elected state government in an attempt to calm tensions.

FEMALE STUDENT FROM SAUDI ARABIA SPITS AT "WHITE PEOPLE" IN FLORIDA

It may or may not be a rare case of one Muslim woman from the House of Saud who attacks non-Muslims, but I will have to note that The Blaze is being rather misleading when they say she spat at "white people" in Florida. The UK Mail, which tells the longer story, said:

A Saudi Arabian student is facing hate crime charges after she allegedly spat on several 'white people' in her local Walmart because a 'higher authority' made her do it.

Nuha Mohammed Al-Doaifi, 21, an engineering student at Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, was arrested on a charge of misdemeanour battery at the Palm Bay WalMart.

But the hate-crime determination could mean that the charge may be elevated to third-degree felony.

Authorities say that Al-Doaifi spat in the face of a WalMart customer who was trying to help her after the student was butting her trolley into the exit door of the supermarket.

She also allegedly spat at another customer who 'got too close to her', but the spittle managed to miss him.

When she was arrested, she told officers that she was spitting on 'white people' because a 'higher authority' made her do it and that 'Americans are pushing us around.'

Yvonne Martinez, spokeswoman for the Palm Bay Police Department, said: 'Her actions were directed at random people based on their ethnicity, and that's according to her own statement.'

The customer was trying to be kindly, and this is how she reacts. But aimed at "white people"? As you'll notice in the mug shot, she is white! Her hateful acts were more of a hatred for non-Muslims, Americans and westerners. Then again, one could wonder if she hates her own skin color.

IT'S TIME TO IMPEACH JUSTICE KAGAN FOR PERJURY

EMAILS SHOW KAGAN PLAYED A CLANDESTINE ROLE ON OBAMACARE LITIGATION STRATEGY.

March 21, 2010 was the day ObamaCare passed the House and, for all intents and purposes, became law. It’s hard to believe Kagan, as solicitor general, wouldn’t have showed up for a legal strategy session held that day, let alone at any point over the previous six months as the bill was working its way through Congress. But here’s the excuse they’re going to offer the public:

On May 17, 2010, for example, Tracy Schmaler, a Department of Justice spokesperson wrote to Katyal, “Has Elena been involved in any of that to the extent SG office was consulted … ?”

“No, she has never been involved in any of it. I’ve run it for the office, and have never discussed the issues with her one bit,” was Katyal’s response. He then forwarded the correspondence to Kagan, saying “This is what I told Tracy about Health Care.”

Kagan’s response: “This needs to be coordinated. Tracy you should not say anything about this before talking to me.”

Other email chains between Kagan, White House lawyers and Vice President Joe Biden’s then-Chief of Staff Ronald Klain show a coordinated effort on how to respond to questions about the health-care law that may have arisen in the confirmation hearings.

Just so we’re straight on the timeline here: On March 21, the day ObamaCare was passed, Katyal is inviting Kagan to strategy sessions about the new law. On April 9, John Paul Stevens resigns and speculation erupts about Kagan succeeding him. On May 17, Katyal is suddenly telling people that Kagan’s never been involved in anything — even though she is, in fact, the solicitor general of the United States and even though he explicitly invited her to a meeting about the law less than two months earlier — and Kagan is warning people via e-mail to make sure everyone has their story straight on what she knew by “coordinating.”

AND FOR THIS, RECUSAL ISN'T ENOUGH.

KAGAN SHOULD BE IMPEACHED.

PROOF:

Despite her prominent role in the Obama Administration as a legal advisor and Solicitor General, the attorney who argues for the administration at the Supreme Court, Kagan denied she played any role in fashioning the ObamaCare legislation or assisting Obama or his officials on it. Asked if she would recuse herself, Kagan told the Senate she would be “carefully considering any arguments made for recusal and consulting with my colleagues and, if appropriate, with experts on judicial ethics.”

Thank you for the answers you provided in response to the written questions submitted following your confirmation hearing. Although your answers have been helpful, there are some responses that need clarification in order for the Committee to have the information it needs to thoroughly review your record. Notably, we are concerned about the standard you would use to decide whether to recuse yourself from litigation you participated in as Solicitor General. In particular, we are concerned about litigation that was clearly anticipated, but had not yet to reached the point where your approval was sought for filings or pleadings.

In response to Senator Sessions’ Question 1(b)(i), you stated:

“I would recuse myself from any case in which I approved or denied a recommendation for action in the lower courts. This category would include cases in which I authorized an appeal, intervention, or the filing of an amicus brief. It would also include cases in which I denied leave to intervene or file an amicus brief.”

You also stated:

“I would also recuse myself from any cases in which I did not take such official action but participated in formulating the government’s litigating position or reviewed a draft pleading. In all other circumstances, I would consider recusal on a case-by-case basis.”

In response to a question from Senator Coburn at your hearing, you indicated that you had not been asked to express an opinion on the “merits” of the health care bill (Pub. L. No. 111-148) in your role as Solicitor General.

BY NOT RECUSING HERSELF, SHE IN EFFECT LIED. SHE PROMISED WHE WOULD AND SHE BROKE HER PROMISE.
