The liberal establishment is under such stress over the possibility that Israel might succeed in protecting her own people that they are letting the mask slip a little. The latest is Bill Moyers giving us a raw peek into the consciousness of The Saint of PBS.

Talking about Gaza and going back to the book of Deuteronomy, he referenced the biblical commands to take the promised land and jumped (I am not kidding!) to this outrageous bit of racism:

“So God-soaked violence became genetically coded.”

Funny, isn’t it, that he would say that about the Jews not the other side of the Gaza conflict who routinely kill Journalists, film makers and other superior beings.


It is amazing that Jews still donate to PBS (Palestinian Broadcasting System).

While some viewers of "Bill Moyers Journal" recently went on the show's web page to congratulate Moyers on his January 9 commentary alleging that Israel targets civilians, others, including longtime fans, were surprised and saddened.

If they were surprised, they haven't been paying close attention in recent years.

They might have missed Moyers' friendly softball interview last year with Rev. Jeremiah Wright, one of the black community's most notorious racists and anti-Semites; as well as Moyers' recommendation to viewers of his earlier program "Now" that they go to the PBS website to read a worshipful interview with "esteemed intellectual" Noam Chomsky, who, weeks earlier, had visited and encouraged Hezbollah terrorists shortly before they launched their killing spree in Israel. (Similarly, Chomsky has praised notorious Holocaust denier Robert Faurison-who claims the Jews caused World War II, and mocks Holocaust survivors as liars-for the quality of his "extensive historical research.")

This is US tax money at work-yours, mine, and that of the loved ones of the courageous Navy diver Robert Stethem, who was tortured and murdered by Chomsky's Hezbollah buddies in 1985.

When did Moyers forget that real progressives are supposed to oppose fascists, totalitarians, and terrorists, not promote and empower them and their supporters?

The following remarks are from commentaries on the Israel-Hamas war by Moyers and by the world's best-known Nazi/Klansman, David Duke. Can you tell which is which? (The answers appear at the end.)

1) All you have to do is the look at the resolution recently passed by the House of Representatives (HRES 34 EH) with only 5 dissenting votes.... It condemns Hamas and the people of Gaza as terrorists but has no mention of the decades long Israeli occupation and strangulation of the West Bank and Gaza.

2) America has officially chosen sides. We supply Israel with money, F-16s, winks and tacit signals.

3) [People killed in Gaza] are the casualties and victims of Israel's decision to silence the rockets from Hamas terrorists by waging war on an entire population.

4) For over 40 years Israel has occupied the West Bank and Gaza, imprisoned and walled off its people.

5) Israel misses no opportunity to humiliate the Palestinians with checkpoints, concrete walls, routine insults, and the onslaught in Gaza.

6) By the blockades of food and medicine, by the checkpoints and by the mass bombing and resulting slaughter, Israel is endeavoring to make life so horrible for the Palestinians, that they simply leave Palestine ...

7) By killing indiscriminately -- the elderly, kids, entire families by destroying schools and hospitals -- Israel did exactly what terrorists do...

8) ...Israel has bombed and terrorized the people of the region for years, and ...will not recognize the government the people of Gaza voted for in free elections.

9) ...one man's terrorism becomes another's resistance to oppression.

10) It is time for the United States and all EU nations to completely cease all economic and military aid to Israel.

11) As if boasting of their might, Israel defense forces even put up video of the explosions on YouTube for all the world to see. A Norwegian doctor there tells CBS, "It's like Dante's Inferno. They are bombing one and a half million people in a cage."

12) Our political elites show neither independence nor courage by challenging the consensus that Israel can do no wrong. Although one recent poll found Democratic voters overwhelmingly oppose the Israeli offensive by a 24-point margin, Democratic Party leaders in Congress nonetheless march in lockstep to the hardliners in Israel and the White House. Rarely does our mainstream media depart from the monotonous monologue of the party line.

13) A tremendous array of media personal attacks and political sabotage both in influence and monetary will descend on the hapless [politician who opposes Israel] The same thing is true in media...

14) But those who raise questions are accused by a prominent reform rabbi of being "morally deficient."

15) Go to the Book of Deuteronomy. When the ancient Israelites entered Canaan their leaders urged violence against its inhabitants. The very Moses who had brought down the commandment "Thou shalt not kill" now proclaimed, "You must destroy completely all the places where the nations have served their gods. You must tear down their altars, smash their pillars, cut down their sacred poles, set fire to the carved images of their gods, and wipe out their name from that place"....So God-soaked violence became genetically coded.

How did you do? If it was difficult to tell the difference, we might have found PBS a replacement for Moyers when he retires.

A viewer who began her message to Moyers by saying, "Bill, you are someone who I had admired and respected for a long time..." asked, "Did you really say that violence is inherent in Jews?" It appears that he did, in the final quote cited. He reinforced this storyline by neglecting to mention that Hamas bases its terrorist operations among civilians, in violation of the Geneva Conventions, and that Israel warns civilians to leave battle zones. He further bolsters the stereotype by telling his audience that "Israel misses no opportunity to humiliate the Palestinians with checkpoints, concrete walls, routine insults, and the onslaught in Gaza," as if defensive measures were acts of gratuitous meanness, failing to mention that there were no checkpoints, walls, or military responses until years of Palestinian terrorism necessitated them.

Moyers has every right to imply that a uniquely murderous proclivity is genetically hard-wired into Jewish DNA, and to back up his claim by inaccurately stating that Israel is "killing indiscriminately -- the elderly, kids, entire families by destroying schools and hospitals --...exactly what terrorists do," after remaining silent for the past 7 years through 11,000 rocket and mortars attacks on Israeli civilians. The question is whether our tax dollars should continue sponsoring his inflammatory distortions and falsehoods.

The senators were in a state of low dudgeon.

They had just learned that Treasury Secretary-designate Timothy Geithner hadn't paid all his taxes, and, truth be told, nobody really cared.

"The man is qualified, competent, one of the best choices the president has made," one member of the tax-writing Finance Committee said yesterday.

"I think he's a good man," another one said with a shrug.

"I don't believe there's any doubt about his qualifications," said a third.

And those were the Republicans.

In the scandal-obsessed capital, the latest public peccadillo has been met by uncharacteristic indifference. Geithner, the man who would oversee the IRS, paid the government $42,702 because of mistakes he had made on his tax returns, and he disclosed to lawmakers that he briefly had a housekeeper without proper immigration papers. It's the sort of embarrassment that usually fires up the opposition -- but this time, as one senior GOP official put it, "CNN is talking about it more than we are."

Nobody called a news conference to rail about the nominee. Nobody mentioned it on the floor. Even Sen. David Vitter, a Louisiana Republican who rarely meets a Democratic appointment he likes, was shy. "I don't know enough about the details of that to comment on that," he begged off when asked about Geithner at an unrelated news conference.

There seems to be no chance that Geithner will suffer the nannygate fate of Zoe Baird, Kimba Wood or Linda Chavez; Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont) said his confirmation is "a given."...

Another article in the Washington Post covers the story as follows:

Was he cheating on his taxes or just sloppy with his finances? Lawmakers vetting the nomination of Timothy F. Geithner to serve as Treasury secretary say they may never be sure. But leading Republicans nonetheless joined Democrats in leaping to his defense yesterday, calling Geithner's tax gaffes small potatoes compared with his qualifications for saving the global economy.

Sen. Orrin G. Hatch (Utah), the second-most senior Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, which is charged with reviewing Geithner's nomination, called him "brilliant" and "honest" and said that, despite his tax errors, "I don't think we can get a better person for this position. . . . He has the kind of background that should be very helpful to us at this time."

Sen. Robert F. Bennett (R-Utah), a close associate of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), said: "If I was a traffic officer, I'd say he may have exceeded the speed limit, but he wasn't weaving out of lanes, he wasn't drunk and he wasn't endangering anybody. He may have some explaining to do, but in the end, I think he's going to be just fine."

The chorus of support from key Republicans suggests that Geithner, president of the New York Federal Reserve Bank, is unlikely to encounter serious turbulence on his path to the Treasury Department, where he would serve as President-elect Barack Obama's top adviser on the worldwide credit crisis and manage a $700 billion financial rescue program as well as the Internal Revenue Service....

At least Geithner paid in full when he learned that he was under consideration as The One's, Barack Hussein Obama's, Secretary of the United States Treasury:

...Geithner failed to pay a total of $34,023 in taxes from 2001 to 2004. He paid some of it in 2006 after he was audited by the Internal Revenue Service, which he would oversee as Treasury secretary. He paid the rest after Obama expressed his intent to nominate him....

Geithner got into this bind because

Geithner worked for the International Monetary Fund from 2001 to 2003. Under federal law, international organizations like the IMF are exempted from paying the employer share of Social Security taxes. Also, they don't withhold the worker's share from paychecks, like other employers do.

U.S. workers at such organizations are instead required to pay self-employment taxes. Geithner failed to pay self-employment taxes during his entire tenure at the IMF...

The IMF provides employees with several documents throughout the year to help them understand and meet their tax obligations. The documents included an employee tax manual, quarterly wage statements and year-end wage statements. Geithner acknowledged receiving all these documents....

How such a finances-savvy fellow didn't know that certain taxes weren't being withheld from his paychecks remains a mystery. I'm no CPA, but when, some years ago, I worked for an employer who didn't withhold Social Security taxes, I filed quarterly-estimated vouchers. And I didn't even need Publication 17 to figure out my tax obligation.

Hey everybody, I found the stimulus. And we're in luck -- it requires no additional action on Congress's part. It's already in the works.

The Congressional Budget Office projected last week that even without a stimulus package, the federal budget deficit will hit $1.2 trillion this year. That's 8.3% of gross domestic product. Followers of the late John Maynard Keynes should be thrilled. Such a gap between government spending and taxes was just what he prescribed to stimulate a slumping economy.

And yet the stimulus enthusiasts seem unsatisfied. President-elect Barack Obama argues that this level of stimulus would leave us with shattered dreams and long-lasting torpor. Our only chance is to adopt his plan of $800 billion in additional stimulus spending over the next two years. So $1.2 trillion in deficit spending leaves us in despair, but $1.6 trillion in deficit spending brings prosperity.

The basis for this reasoning is unclear. Keynesian macroeconomics argues for deficit spending. We've got lots of that. We also know there are costs to overdoing it. Ultimately, government borrowing must be paid back. And if government borrowing is excessive, at some point we will have some combination of inflation, higher interest rates and higher taxes. The danger now of excessive borrowing is exacerbated by the impending retirement of the baby boomers and the resulting strain on public finances.

So how does Mr. Obama come to the conclusion that we need more stimulus spending now?

U.S. Military Warns Of Potential Sudden Collapse of Mexico

The United States Military judges that, with regards to stability as a nation, Mexico is about on par with Pakistan.

From the El Paso Times:

EL PASO - Mexico is one of two countries that "bear consideration for a rapid and sudden collapse," according to a report by the U.S. Joint Forces Command on worldwide security threats.

The command's "Joint Operating Environment (JOE 2008)" report, which contains projections of global threats and potential next wars, puts Pakistan on the same level as Mexico. "In terms of worse-case scenarios for the Joint Force and indeed the world, two large and important states bear consideration for a rapid and sudden collapse: Pakistan and Mexico.

"The Mexican possibility may seem less likely, but the government, its politicians, police and judicial infrastructure are all under sustained assault and press by criminal gangs and drug cartels. How that internal conflict turns out over the next several years will have a major impact on the stability of the Mexican state. Any descent by Mexico into chaos would demand an American response based on the serious implications for homeland security alone."

We can not afford to have such an unstable situation on our borders. If Mexico can not take care of it's people, then the Mexican government must go.

I recommend we annex Mexico, after all, we annexed California, and look how well that has turned out:

Roll that one around in your brain for a little while.

All the corruption, all the chaos, all the squandered resources, all that would be the plight of a nebulous California territory, raped for resources by a corrupt Mexican government, and given into the hands of a powerful elite, never to be shared with the citizenry.

Instead, California is the seventh largest economy in the world. It is a center of industry and innovation. Silicon Valley is designing the future of the world's relationship with computers. San Diego is a center for genetics research and bio-engineering. Los Angeles is the center of the inspiration and the dream life for much of the world. The money that Californians spend winds its way around the world's economy, creating jobs for countless people who otherwise would make far less money than they already do.

If Mexico still owned California, none of this would exist.

Few of the amazing accomplishments of California are based upon the lay of the land. Much of California is barren desert. Certainly Mexico has as much, if not more, in the way of natural resources as California. And yet, California is California and Mexicans are risking life and family to flee Mexico and come here to live.

California's success owes much to the fact that it is the end of the United States. Back in the 19th century, the ambitious man was told, "Go West." And, he did. Therefore, the most boldly ambitious men, the blindly tenacious, and the biggest dreamers, all ended up in California, and we are thriving on the DNA of that ancestry to this day.

As my friend Erik Rush says:

... issues surrounding the U.S.-Mexico border have been in the forefront of discussion for many months. The precise number of Mexicans entering the U.S. illegally each year is impossible to accurately determine, but estimates average out to about 1 million. The motivation for the majority of illegal immigrants from Mexico is, as we are all aware by now, primarily economic.

So, I say: Annex Mexico. Handsome bribes to Vicente Fox and his underlings would no doubt bring them around to thinking it an excellent idea. As a contingency, we could probably enlist the cooperation of key players in the Mexican military fairly cheaply. A poll released on Aug. 16, 2005, by the Pew Hispanic Center indicated that more than 40 percent of Mexican adults would move to the United States if they could, so I seriously doubt there would be widespread rioting in the streets of Mexico City when the mutually agreed-upon annexation was announced.

But what about here? Certainly the prospect of all 107 million Mexicans potentially streaming across the border is something no one – particularly alleged conservatives like myself – wishes to contemplate. Even a smaller scale exodus would be horrific. Leaving aside the fact that the smaller scale exodus is already underway, of course, we couldn't allow that any more than we could allow indigent citizens to move en masse into our public parks. The oft-suggested border tightening – probably utilizing the National Guard – would need to be implemented until Mexico's economy developed to the point where the economic incentive for relocation began to diminish.

We would gain complete and immediate legal control over both sides of the border (as well as all ports and points of entry within Mexico, a national security boon). Mexicans who are now coming here illegally would no longer be coming illegally, but safely and to verifiable destinations via public transportation paid for with their own tax dollars. The U.S. businesses that pounced on the market (partly to offset the loss of obscenely cheap labor) would be required to pay a percentage of their earnings to cover renovating the Mexican infrastructure, with a substantial allotment for education. The finer distinctions of this admittedly cyclopean feat would be determined by more knowledgeable sociopolitical and economic minds than mine. If anyone's interested, I do have a short list.

The new government could be structured similarly to that of Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands. A few more prisons would have to be built – likely most of the new convicts would be police and politicians, since we could not afford to tolerate the kind of corruption currently endemic in Mexico to continue.

The question many will ask (I daresay, violently hurl my way) is that if through such action we shattered all remaining illusions relative to our role as the international big daddy, where would it end? This is imperialism, clearly, and we simply don't do that anymore.

To which I would answer: First, we already are the international big daddy. Let's abandon the intellectual dishonesty once and for all – if there's going to be a biggest dog, it might as well be us. The swift and terrible retribution exacted upon the Abu Ghraib offenders offers clear evidence that we aren't going to tolerate imperial storm troopers within our ranks. America ought to be embracing its supremacy and overall ethical integrity, yet due to the moral perversions of political correctness and international socialism, it faces a fundamental challenge merely acknowledging its right to exist.

Second, I consider the proposed actions more of a moral obligation than anything else. The government of Mexico is doing it wrong – their policies are oppressing their people, stultifying their social and economic growth and negatively impacting the United States. Just last week, the governors of New Mexico and Arizona declared states of emergency, releasing more than $2 million to help their states cope with the flood of illegals, and the financial burden on the state of California inches it closer to insolvency every month.

As far as sovereignty or national identity goes, these have already been proven to be a joke, given the number of Mexicans coming here and those who wish to. Instead of letting their system drag us down, why not use ours to pull them up? A business acquaintance of mine is already working on a Habitat for Humanity-style endeavor to implement in Mexico – I am sure that there are thousands of brilliant men and women in business who, properly motivated and judiciously monitored, could turn the Mexican economy and educational system around in fairly short order. Imagine what 20 years of social and economic development – unconstrained by Third World corruption and institutional criminality – could accomplish!

GAZA IS THE FRONTLINE IN THE GWOT

Reports that Osama bin Laden has released a recorded statement calling for Holy War in response to the conflict in Gaza clearly proove that Israel is battling on the front line against the efforts of an international conspiracy to reestablish the Caliphate. Hamas, al qaeda, hizbollah, Irans's Achtungijad, the Muslim Brotherhood etc etc etc are not fighting for a Palestinian State which could exist side by side with Israel. They are fighting for the destruction of Israel, the USA, Democracy, and Western Culture as we know it.

Israel made a the difficult decision to take down Hamas knowing that their main ally- the USA - is weakened and will soon be led by an inexperienced leader whose focus will be trained upon domestic issues. Israel made this move knowing full well the propaganda battle for public opinion would be waged full tilt. F-ck Public Opinion - has it ever saved a jew's life? What's proportionality? Trading 300 prisoners for a kidnapped businessman and the bones of 3 soldiers? Gaza is not the most densely populated place on earth!!! But still the death toll, after 20 days of conflict in an area with 1,500,000 people is far from a Holocaust. If the intent of the IDF was to kill people in Gaza then the death toll would be much much higher. Just compare this to the death toll resulting from the conflict Russia had in Chechnya.

May the Lord protect the Righteous and reward the deathcult with their martydom. There will never be peace until Islamofacism is defeated.

SHIN BET RELEASES HAMAS MISSILE DATA

HAARETZ:

Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip have fired some 565 rockets and 200 mortar shells at southern Israel since the Israel Defense Forces launched its offensive on the Hamas-ruled coastal territory on December 27, the Shin Bet announced on Tuesday.

According to the Shin Bet investigation, some 530 of the rockets were fired within the first 16 days of the operation. The Shin Bet estimated that another 35 were fired over the course of Monday and Tuesday, but did not include those numbers in its latest report.

The report does not detail how many were long-range Katyushas, but various sources estimates they number about 10 percent of the total number of rockets fired.

Some 5,700 rockets and another 4,000 mortar shells have been launched at Israel since the beginning of 2005, the Shin Bet said. Of those, more than 2,000 rockets and 1,600 shells were fired in 2008.

During the six-month truce between Israel and Gaza which ended in December, some 361 rockets and 303 mortar shells were launched at Israel. This marks an average of a rocket and a mortar shell a day over the course of the cease-fire period.

Since the firing began in the year 2000, 19 people were killed by rockets and another 18 by mortar shells.

Some 1,272 people have been wounded by rockets and shells since the beginning of the war on Gaza 18 days ago.

The headline from the conservative Washington Times yesterday was certainly attention getting: "Obama climate czar has socialist ties."

The article reported that Carol Browner, set to become the Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change, was "listed as one of 14 leaders of a socialist group's Commission for a Sustainable World Society, which calls for "global governance" and says rich countries must shrink their economies to address climate change."

This, as one might imagine, caused quite a stir among far-right bloggers and media personalities.

Glenn Beck pointed to the story to insisted that "almost everyone who does believe in global warming is a socialist."

Townhall ran a similar item, arguing that some [sic] in the "environmentalist movement " are "merely fronts for the some collectivist, totalitarian, statist impulses that have reared their ugly heads throughout the 20th century with such devastating results for so many." Drudge, naturally, promoted the story heavily.

Brad Johnson has a helpful piece, not only documenting how this story worked its way up through the conservative movement, but just as importantly, explaining why there's less here than meets the eye.

The [Commission for a Sustainable World Society] first convened in November 2007 to "articulate from the world of progressive politics a way forward to address global environmental concerns, climate change and the issues of governance required to deal with these common challenges" at 10 Downing Street, hosted by Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Leader of the British Labour Party.

The Socialist International is "the worldwide organisation of social democratic, socialist and labour parties" from Albania to Zimbabwe. Its members include the center-left New Democratic Party of Canada, the center-left Israeli Labor Party, and the ruling Labour Party in Great Britain. The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, founded by the U.S. government to support democracy in developing nations, works with Socialist International and other political parties "to help foster open, accountable and responsive political systems."

Also, it has the word "Socialist" in its name. Not only that, the press is calling Carol Browner the "climate czar." In a leap worthy of Stephen Colbert or Monty Python, the radical right wing is claiming these are signs that Barack Obama is going to transform the United States into a leftist dictatorship. [...]

That's right, according to conservatives, Carol Browner's meeting with the prime minister of Great Britain to discuss global warming is equivalent to the genocides of Stalin and Hitler.

When environmental organizations are led in part by former heads of state and convene meetings at 10 Downing Street, it sounds pretty mainstream. The right's apoplexy is badly misplaced. Again.

Socialist dictatorship sounds like a damn good plan to me.

Instead of denying that powerful Democrats are socialist and strongly implying that socialism is an ipso facto bad thing, can we please acknowledge the following FACT:

On November 4, 2008, the American people, by an 8-point margin, elected as president a man the top news organization in the country had spent months condemning as a socialist.

The American people were given a clear, well-publicized choice between a warmongering capitalist pig and a big-government socialist, and they voted overwhelmingly for the big-government socialist.

How about we start celebrating that fact, instead of apologizing for it?

The first openly gay priest ordained by a major Christian denomination will deliver the invocation at the kickoff inauguration event Sunday at the Lincoln Memorial.

The Rev. Gene Robinson, Episcopal bishop in New Hampshire, has accepted an invitation issued by the Obama team prior to the announcement of the Rev. Rick Warren’s selection to deliver the invocation at the president-elect’s swearing-in, Politico reported Monday.

Robinson had been a critic of Warren’s role, calling his inclusion in the event “really, really unfortunate” because of the California minister's support for California's Prop. 8, which barred same-sex marriage.

“It's about this particular venue and the role that he has in praying for all of America, and I'm just not sure he'd pray to God the same way I would,” Robinson told Beliefnet last month.

“…This particular choice [of Warren] is not about having everyone at the table for a discussion or some sort of general forum. Every choice related to who does what at the inauguration is highly symbolic, and I think the transition team failed to ask the question of what, symbolically, this might say to some of our citizens.”

Robinson said at the time his disappointment would not affect his plans to attend President-elect Obama’s inauguration.

The rapid shrinking of glaciers in Greenland during recent years may stall, diminishing the Arctic island’s potential contribution to rising sea levels blamed on global warming, a U.K.-led research team found.

The study in the journal Nature Geoscience indicates the faster-than-normal ice loss observed in many of Greenland’s glaciers in the early 2000s won’t be sustained, said Andreas Vieli, a glaciologist at Durham University in northern England.

“Our modeling suggests that these very high rates of glacier retreat can’t be maintained for very long,” Vieli, a co-author of the paper, said in a telephone interview.

Scientists are improving their knowledge of glaciers so the data can be used to predict their longevity. Greenland contains enough ice to raise sea levels by about 7 meters (23 feet), threatening coastal villages around the world, if it melted.

A United Nations global warming panel said in 2007 that melting ice may contribute to rising oceans this century while acknowledging that uncertainty surrounds how much ice Greenland will lose. The latest findings may help calibrate UN models.

The Durham University-led scientists used a computer model to analyze changes in Helheim Glacier, in southeast Greenland.

They concluded the driver of the melting was a break at its snout in the sea that had a domino effect inland. They also found glaciers stabilize after an initial rapid retreat.

Another Human Gets Bird Flu in Egypt

Egypt on Monday confirmed a new human case of bird flu, bringing the number of people infected by the avian influenza to 52 in the populous country, the state MENA news agency reported.

Asmaa Mohamed, 21-month-old, has been admitted to hospital for treatments suffering from high temperature and vomiting, assistant Health Minister Nasr el-Sayed was quoted as saying.

The baby girl is from Kerdasa, 6th of October governorate, said the official, adding she was infected with the virus after being in contact with infected birds.
