LAST ELECTION AT AROUND THIS JUNCTURE: ZOGBY HAD KERRY LEADING IN THE DECIDED COLUMN AND GAVE HIM 2/3RDS OF THE BATTLEGROUND STATES

ZOGBY AND MOST POLLSTERS WERE WRONG IN 2004; (ZOGBY PREDICTED AT LEAST 311 FOR KERRY).

THE POLLSTERS ARE MOSTLY WRONG NOW.
  • THE UNDECIDEDS ARE MOSTLY WHITE AND MOSTLY INDEPENDENTS AND THEY WILL BREAK FOR MCCAIN - BIGTIME.
  • MCCAIN IS GETTING A HIGHER % OF THE GOP THAN OBAMA IS OF THE DEMOCRATS.
  • AND MCCAIN IS GETTING MORE DEMOCRATS THEN OBAMA IS GETTING GOP.
THE GOP IS ENERGIZED - BY PALIN AND... OBAMA!

THE GOP HATES OBAMA MORE THAT THEY HATED HILLARY.

ZOGBY PREDICTED THAT OHIO AND FLORIDA AND IOWA WOULD BE RED. MUCH LIKE THE POLSTERS DO NOW.

AND HOLD VIRGINIA.

AND HOLD GEORGIA.

AND HOLD NORTH CAROLINA.

AND WIN.

HOW THE "RUST BELT" GOT RUSTY

Shannon Love posted an excellent analysis at ChicagoBoyz.

He asks, "Why isn't Detroit a paradise?"

One really has to ask the obvious question: If Obama’s economic policies work so well, why isn’t Detroit a paradise?

In 1950, America produced 51% of the GNP for the entire world. Of that production, roughly 70% took place in the eight states surrounding the Great Lakes: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York.

The productive capability of this small area of earth staggers the imagination. Virtually everything that rebuilt the industrial bases of Europe and Japan came from those eight states. Cars, planes, electronics, machine tools, consumer goods, generators, concrete - any conceivable item manufactured by industrial humanity poured out this tiny region and enriched the world. The region shone with widespread prosperity. People migrated from the South and West to work in these Herculean engines of industry.

So what happened?

It's simple, really.

Yet, a mere 30 years later, by 1980, we called that area the “rustbelt” and it became synonymous with joblessness, collapsing cities, high crime, failing schools and general hopelessness.

What the hell happened?

Obama happened.

Of course, not Obama personally but rather the same ideas that Obama espouses. What those ideas did to the Great Lakes states, they can do to the entire country.

Shannon Love identifies the specific policy problems as the unions' stranglehold and invasive, nanny-state government interventions.

Read. The. Whole Thing. Now.

The thing is, applying these failed socialistic policies nationwide could turn the entire United States into a "rust belt," and if the economic engine engine of the American economy fails, tens of millions of people around the world will literally starve.

The election of Obama would consign the world's poor to misery and starvation.

If that's not what you want, vote accordingly.

A COLD AND RUTHLESS NARCISSIST

Listen to the voice of a cold and ruthless, narcissistic psychopath:

Listen to how calmly and coldly he announces his intention of bankrupting the coal industry.

And then listen to him claim that bankrupting the coal industry will generate billions of dollars for alternative energy programs.

And if you think the cold, ruthless voice of the narcissistic psychopath is disturbing, just watch him in action:

Don't like what you hear? Don't like what you see?

Like the man says, vote accordingly.

YOU CAN'T AFFORD AN OBAMA ADMINISTRATION

OBAMA'S DEEP TIES TO FARRAKHAN

As we get closer and closer to the election, more bits and pieces about Barack [middle name redacted] Obama are leaking out. Today, Kenneth Timmerman reports on Obama's close ties to Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan:
A former top deputy to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan tells Newsmax that Barack Obama’s ties to the black nationalist movement in Chicago run deep, and that for many years the two men have had “an open line between them” to discuss policy and strategy, either directly or through intermediaries.
Farrakhan is more plain-spoken than Obama:
Farrakhan has called Jews “bloodsuckers,” “satanic” and accused them of running the slave trade. He has labeled gays as “degenerates.” In a 2006 speech, the ADL again condemned Farrakhan when he said: “These false Jews promote the filth of Hollywood that is seeding the American people and the people of the world and bringing you down in moral strength. … It's the wicked Jews the false Jews that are promoting lesbianism, homosexuality. It's wicked Jews, false Jews that make it a crime for you to preach the word of God, then they call you homophobic!"
But Obama evidently shares more of Farrakhan's views than he would like his Jewish followers to believe:
Obama was careful to “denounce” Farrakhan’s comments – but not the man -- during the Democratic primary season earlier this year, but only after Hillary Clinton called him out for benefiting from Farrakhan’s support.
And don't forget:
Farrakhan endorsed Obama in a videotaped speech to his followers at Mosque Miryam in Chicago in February. “You are the instruments that God is gonna use to bring about universal change, and that is why Barack has captured the youth,” Farrakhan said.
What flavor Kool Aid do you think those Jews for Obama were drinking?

Say Goodbye to America

Excerpt:

No matter who wins Tuesday America is going to be a different country. When the sun rises on November 5, regardless of who the president-elect is, a more un-United States than has existed since the Civil War will wake to dispute the results of the disgusting campaign that has mercifully come to an end.

Whoever the losers, they will believe they were cheated, and will point fingers at those they believe responsible. Almost half the nation will view the winner as illegitimate, and will do everything in their power to undermine his authority as long as he's in the White House. With this animosity will come a new level of hatred between those of differing political persuasions like nothing our country has experienced in the modern era. Putting it bluntly, and without sounding too much like Rev. Jeremiah "G-d Damn America" Wright, there will be no such thing as Americans anymore.

Instead, there'll be Democrats and Republicans, Liberals and Conservatives, and encounters between the members of these groups will for years nay decades be at best unfriendly, and at worst quite hostile if not downright violent.

Think this an overstatement? Consider first what Wednesday will look like if John McCain pulls off the upset. To begin with, let's be very clear about one thing: Democrats believe that if they lose an election it's because their opponent cheated. It's never their fault. It's never because they ran a poor campaign. It's never because their opponent ran a better one. Heck no! It's always about voter fraud, disenfranchisement, not enough ballots, faulty machinery, hanging chads, negative advertising, intimidation tactics, campaign finance abuses, you name it.

Such is the legacy of Al Sore Loser Gore: regardless of how many news outlets went to Florida in January 2001 and found that if the counting had continued Bush still would have won, the overwhelming majority of Democrats think that election was stolen....

To make my point, I offer the now overly-discussed Bradley effect and how it relates to exit polls: How many people as they leave the voting booth Tuesday will lie to pollsters about who they voted for? Before you answer, try to imagine the pressures many people are going to feel in certain districts around the country to answer "Obama" rather than "McCain" irrespective of the truth. Also consider the possibility that many McCain supporters will just refuse to answer the question thereby skewing the results.....

Can you imagine the Rodney King-style rioting that might occur as a result, especially when folks like Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer, and the usual suspects get in front of television cameras blaming Republicans and John McCain for stealing another election, this time from a black man? They'll be on all the morning shows Wednesday doing what they do best: fomenting hate, and pointing fingers....

On the flipside, although an Obama victory will likely not result in immediate acts of violence, Republicans already feel cheated by this campaign for a number of reasons, and understand full well that they literally have the most to lose in this election; the Messiah, contrary to all his lies on the stump, clearly intends to redistribute wealth, and it sure isn't Republicans that are going to be on the receiving end of the junior senator from Illinois' charity....

Once Hillary was tossed aside like so much garbage, media ignored each and every issue that could possibly undermine Obama's ascendancy while savagely attacking Sarah Palin as well as an Ohio plumber that had the unmitigated audacity to actually ask the Messiah a decent question. Don't even get me started on how the so-called impartial press overlooked every gaffe and misstatement made by Joe Biden while giving the Messiah a pass for going back on his promise to accept public campaign funds instead opting to raise and spend more money on his presidential aspirations than anybody ever believed possible....

Just imagine the kind of press McCain would have gotten if he had refused public financing, and spent the kind of ad dollars Obama has. Americans likely would have been told virtually 24 hours a day, seven days a week that rich Republicans were trying to buy the election. However, because this is the Messiah, such talk was practically verboten.

Without a doubt, the media playing field this campaign season was as un-level as most Americans have probably ever experienced, or, for that matter ever imagined, and if Obama wins, this is going to leave a bad taste in the mouths of Republicans for many years to come....

And therein lies the real tragedy, for November 4, 2008, could have been a shining moment in American history. After all, a black man is running for president, and might actually win. This should have united the country like never before, and come close to ending the racism that has been one of our nation's banes since its inception. However, because Obama used race to get himself to this point, while also pitting folks of differing incomes against each other for his own political benefit, it seems far more likely that tomorrow will divide our country like it hasn't been in over a century ushering back in hatred that will make Martin Luther King Jr. roll over in his grave.

Brainless Obama the Warmist wants to bankrupt coal-fired electricity generation

And thus cause blackouts in most of America, apparently

Imagine if John McCain had whispered somewhere that he was willing to bankrupt a major industry? Would this declaration not immediately be front page news? Well, Barack Obama actually flat out told the San Francisco Chronicle (SF Gate) that he was willing to see the coal industry go bankrupt in a January 17, 2008 interview. The result? Nothing. This audio interview has been hidden from the public...until now. Here is the transcript of Obama's statement about bankrupting the coal industry:
Let me sort of describe my overall policy. What I've said is that we would put a cap and trade system in place that is as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else's out there.

I was the first to call for a 100% auction on the cap and trade system, which means that every unit of carbon or greenhouse gases emitted would be charged to the polluter. That will create a market in which whatever technologies are out there that are being presented, whatever power plants that are being built, that they would have to meet the rigors of that market and the ratcheted down caps that are being placed, imposed every year.

So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted.

That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in solar, wind, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches. The only thing I've said with respect to coal, I haven't been some coal booster. What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as a (sic) ideological matter as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it.

So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It's just that it will bankrupt them.

Amazing that this statement by Obama about bankrupting the coal industry has been kept under wraps until this time.

UPDATE: NewsBusters' Tom Blumer has found out that the San Francisco Chronicle story published on January 18 based upon this January 17 interview did not include any mention of Obama's willingness to bankrupt the coal industry which you can hear on the audio. You can read the story here when you scroll down to the "In His Own Words" section. Way to cover up for The One, SF Chronicle!

AMAZING VIDEO: MCCAIN TELLING OBAMA OFF!

INSPIRED BY THIS - VIA ACE:

AND REMEMBER THIS - AN ACTUAL LETTER MCCAIN SENT OBAMA, WHEN HE REALLY DID TELL HIM OFF:
ONCE AGAIN, OBAMA PROVES HE IS UNTRUSTWORTHY
John McCain released a SCATHING and SARCASTIC letter he sent to Senator Barack Obama.

Here's an EXCERPT:
Dear Senator Obama:

I would like to apologize to you for assuming that your private assurances to me regarding your desire to cooperate in our efforts to negotiate bipartisan lobbying reform legislation were sincere.

When you approached me and insisted that despite your leadership’s preference to use the issue to gain a political advantage in the 2006 elections, you were personally committed to achieving a result that would reflect credit on the entire Senate and offer the country a better example of political leadership, I concluded your professed concern for the institution and the public interest was genuine and admirable.

Thank you for disabusing me of such notions with your letter to me dated February 2, 2006, which explained your decision to withdraw from our bipartisan discussions.

I’m embarrassed to admit that after all these years in politics I failed to interpret your previous assurances as typical rhetorical gloss routinely used in politics to make self-interested partisan posturing appear more noble.

Again, sorry for the confusion, but please be assured I won’t make the same mistake again. [...]

As I noted, I initially believed you shared that goal. But I understand how important the opportunity to lead your party’s effort to exploit this issue must seem to a freshman Senator, and I hold no hard feelings over your earlier disingenuousness.

Again, I have been around long enough to appreciate that in politics the public interest isn’t always a priority for every one of us. Good luck to you, Senator.

Sincerely,

John McCain United States Senate

PETRAEUS IN PAKISTAN

BBC:
US Gen David Petraeus is due to meet Pakistan's army chief on his first visit to the country since becoming head of US Central command.

The trip comes amid tensions between Islamabad and Washington over US missile strikes on suspected Islamist militants in northwest Pakistan.

Last Friday Gen Petraeus took control of US military operations throughout the Middle East and much of Asia.

His responsibilities include Iraq and Afghanistan as well as Pakistan.

The general is being accompanied by US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher.

As well as meetings with Pakistani army chief Gen Ashfaq Kayani, the visit will include meetings with other senior political leaders.

The American envoys face the delicate task of explaining US actions without upsetting its ally, says the BBC's South Asia analyst Anbarasan Ethirajan.
THIS MEETING IS NEARLY AS MOMENTOUS AS THE ELECTION TUESDAY.

VIA POWER LINE.

WHY THEY SUPPORT MCCAIN, HERE.

EVIDENCE THAT THE GOP IS VERY ENERGIZED AND VOTING IN LARGE NUMBERS ALREADY!

JIM:
... the Campaign Spot Hilton Head Bureau Chief (a.k.a., "Dad") is resigning in the near future to become the new president of the Hilton Head Republican Club. He mentioned an interesting anecdote to me recently.

South Carolina in general, and the Low Country/Beaufort County portion of the state, are some of the most deep red sections of the country as you're going to find; in a year when traditionally Republican states Indiana, North Carolina, and Virginia has wavered, no one has contemplated any Obama movement in the Palmetto State.

Anyway, in this certain-for-McCain corner of this certain-for-McCain state, the wait on the lines for early voting have been... two hours. There's not a ton of locations, and not a ton of machines, which contributes to the wait, but still, that's an awful lot of enthusastic voters in a region considered completely uncompetitive. And even with the early rush, poll workers are being told to "expect the worst" on Election Day.

There aren't any dramatic Senate races, House races, or local initiatives to drive all this; it is, as the Beaufort County GOP chairman puts it, "I have never seen our base as energized as they are about this election. The reason is we have never had two candidates whose philosophies as different as this year."

This won't make a difference in the electoral college; everyone has put Texas and South Carolina into the McCain pile since Day One.

But it may make a difference in the popular vote nationwide.

And if the GOP base is fired up and showing up in places like Texas and South Carolina, is there some reason it wouldn't show up in Indiana, North Carolina or Virginia?

I suppose it's possible, but I wouldn't bet on it.
PALIN AND OBAMA HAVE ENERGIZED THE GOP BASE!

WE WILL WIN IF YOU VOTE!

PITTSBURGH TRIB ENDORSES MCCAIN

PITT TRIB:
... other than rationalizing quite leftist and collectivist views that include everything from the worst of command economics -- sure to turn recession into depression -- to perverting the U.S. Constitution by making it and the Supreme Court some kind of rule-of-law relative social re-engineering tool.

Talk about manifest danger.

The only truly experienced leader in this race -- the gentleman whose resume actually is worthy of the phrase -- is John McCain, 72, war hero, former congressman and longtime U.S. senator of Arizona.

We first endorsed Mr. McCain for president in February, long before we knew Sen. Obama would be the Democrat nominee. But our words then are even more apropos now.

John McCain is fiercely independent. And he makes no apologies for the principles he holds dear, even if they be at odds with the traditional party base. But he has never wavered in his core belief of what Republicanism (with a capital "R") and republicanism (with a lower-case "r") are all about:

Small government. Fiscal discipline. Low taxes. A strong defense. And a judiciary that does not legislate from the bench.

Compared with Barack Obama's long and dangerous statist laundry list of the ever more expansive role government should play in our lives, John McCain sums it up quite succinctly, quite effectively and quite nicely, thank you.

Indeed, we have differences that are more than quibbles with some of Sen. McCain's positions. We stridently disagree with his campaign finance and immigration "reform" efforts. And we've told him so face to face.

But it being, as once was written, a golden rule that one should never judge men by their opinions but rather by what their opinions make of them, it would be imprudent of us to allow our respectful differences to preclude our support.

Thus, we again today wholeheartedly endorse John McCain for president of the United States. For it really is time to stand up and fight.

2004 could be a decisive victory for Kerry. The reason to think so is historical. Elections that feature a sitting president tend to be referendums on the incumbent--and in recent elections, the incumbent has either won or lost by large electoral margins. If you look at key indicators beyond the neck-and-neck support for the two candidates in the polls--such as high turnout in the early Democratic primaries and the likelihood of a high turnout in November--it seems improbable that Bush will win big. More likely, it's going to be Kerry in a rout.

BENNY BEGIN'S BACK!

A very decent politician is returning from limbo to the spotlight:
(IsraelNN.com) Dr. Benny Begin announced on Sunday that he will leave his job as head of the Geological Institute and will vie for a spot in the Likud's list of Knesset candidates for the upcoming elections.

Begin is known for three blatant characteristics: a political outlook promoting Jewish sovereignty over Judea and Samaria, a liberal social outlook, and impeccable character.

[...]

Begin returned to the Likud four years ago, and is now returning to active politics. Likud members welcomed him, in the knowledge that his name and reputation are an electoral asset. MK Gideon Saar, the Likud's faction whip in the Knesset, said, "Begin will be a tremendous addition. He is a symbol of values, ideology, clean hands and clear thinking."
I'm glad he's finally decided to return to politics. I think he made a very serious mistake to go with the "party" called National Union almost a decade ago, because of how startlingly irresponsible their idea of campaigning was: their campaign was more like harrassing the Likud (or the National Religious Party) in a Quixotic attempt to draw every supporter from that party over to them, without focusing clearly on any of the hard-hitting issues. That's why they ultimately failed, and why I will decidedly not vote for them again.

The National Union may be on the verge of collapse anyway. Effie Eitam may be joining the Likud, as might even Arye Eldad, and without them, the National Union will probably lose some signifigance, deservedly. They certainly won't be able to attack other political parties now without making real fools of themselves. Let's hope they actually come to their senses now and do some real campaigning for a change. But that still won't convince me to vote for them again. My vote is with the Likud now, and I'm glad that Begin is returning.

Just say no to vote fraud!

Imagine a campaign website that intentionally turns off all credit-card security, an unprecedented step that allows bogus names and addresses for donations.

Imagine a campaign that accepts made-up credit-card numbers, which are tried one after another until valid card numbers are found.

Or a campaign that retains forged computer addresses for its donations instead of the real donors' addresses.

Or a campaign that accepts untraceable prepaid cash cards that can be used to evade contribution limits or mask contributor identities.

Or a campaign that secretly shares its donor lists with ACORN, a group reportedly under a RICO investigation for multi-state vote fraud involving hundreds of thousands of fraudulent registrations.

Now imagine hundreds of millions of dollars in undisclosed, suspect donations orchestrated by foreign nationals and other persons unknown.

Roughly two-thirds of Barack Obama’s record haul derives from a website that intentionally disables all security checks that prevent basic fraud. In other words, that facilitates crooked donations complete with fake names, phony addresses, no donation limits and untraceable cards.

Now imagine that the same campaign, through its corrupt practices, wins control of law enforcement and prosecution in the United States.

Regardless of your political affiliation, do you think there could ever be a fair election again?

Just say no to Barack Obama and vote fraud. Vote John McCain.

WHO HAS A BETTER CHARACTER, MCCAIN OR OBAMA?

MCCAIN - BY A MILLION MILES:
If the 2008 election were solely about character and experience, Mr. McCain would be winning in a walk. Few Presidential nominees have been better known or more admired. A McCain Presidency would have its surprises, but they would not be from personal vice or political scandal. His courage has been tested far more than most -- both in a personal sense in Vietnam, and in a political sense during the Iraq war.

Arguably the finest hour of Mr. McCain's career was his support for the Iraq surge at the height of the war's unpopularity. It was gratifying to see this virtue vindicated as he won the GOP nomination. But in an irony of history, his very far-sightedness on Iraq and the success of the surge have made national security seem less urgent as Election Day nears. His commanding edge over Mr. Obama as a Commander in Chief seems less compelling to many voters than do their current fears about the economy.
OBAMA AND REID AND PELOSI WILL TAKE THE USA TOWARD THE EXTREME LEFT:
  • THEY WILL PUNISH CORPORATIONS WITH WINDFALL TAXES (WHICH BUFFETT OPPOSES);
  • THEY WILL SIDE MORE WITH KHALIDI AND THE ARABS AND MORE AGAINST ISRAEL;
  • THEY WILL RAISE TAXES TO REDISTRIBUTE WEALTH;
  • THEY WILL RAISE TAXES TO STEER MONEY TO THEIR PET PROJECTS - LIKE "GREEN COLLAR" JOBS;
  • THEY WILL MAKE THEIR COMRADES IN THE UNIONS STRONGER BY TAKING AWAY THE SECRET BALLOT DURING UNIONIZATION VOTES;
  • THEY WILL APPEASE IRAN AND SYRIA AND RETREAT FROM IRAQ;
  • THEY WILL APPEASE PUTIN AND RETREAT FROM UKRAINE AND GEORGIA;
  • THEY WEILL APPEASE PUTIN AND STOP DEPLOYING MISSILE DEFENSE SYSTEMS IN EASTERN EUROPE, THE GULF STATES AND ALASKA.
  • THEY WILL RETREAT FROM GLOBALIZATION AND FREE TRADE.

NYTIMES' GRAMSCIAN AGENDA: FULL SPEED AHEAD!

THE LEAD/FEATURED WEDDING IN THIS SUNDAY'S NYTIMES:
Vows -
Erik Hyman and Max Mutchnick
Axel Koester for The New York Times

Axel Koester for The New York Times

BEVERLY HILLS, CALIF., OCT. 25 Erik Hyman, left, with daughter Rose, and Max Mutchnick, with daughter Evan. More Photos »

Mr. Mutchnick, who used the Yiddish word to describe his restless energy, didn’t become a creator and executive producer of the sitcom “Will & Grace” by being a blushing wallflower.

“I’m a big personality,” said the impulsive Mr. Mutchnick, 42, who melds borscht belt shtick and urbane wit in his writing and his life.

So it was unusual for him to be intimidated by Erik Hyman, an entertainment law associate at the Los Angeles firm Loeb & Loeb. “He’s out of my league,” was Mr. Mutchnick’s initial impression. “I’m Mel Brooks, and he is Anne Bancroft. He’s this sophisticated, elegant guy, and I’m the kind of guy who would have a piece of toilet paper stuck to my heel.”

He hid his attraction to Mr. Hyman by avoiding him when they crossed paths at social gatherings.

“He was super cute but not very friendly,” said Mr. Hyman, 40, who was dubious when a female friend suggested fixing them up in October 2006. “Sometimes, straight girls try to set up the only two gay guys they know.”

At the time, Mr. Hyman was recovering after a period of “sadness and loss,” he said, referring to the years following the death of his longtime partner, the photographer Herb Ritts.

Mr. Mutchnick was also alone, but for a different reason. “My career has been the centerpiece of my life,” he said. Then in 2006, the final episode of “Will & Grace” was broadcast, and Mr. Mutchnick found himself envying Will Truman, his fictional counterpart, who had committed to a life partner and started a family. “Will had gotten ahead of me,” he said. “I was watching the character have an experience I knew nothing about.”

So he was motivated to embrace something new as Mr. Hyman contemplated having dinner with him. Before a date could be arranged, the two men found themselves attending the same Los Angeles AIDS benefit, but it was more Keystone Kops than kismet.

As Mr. Hyman nervously extended his hand to say hello, he toppled a table of water bottles. He was crawling on his hands and knees gathering up the mess as Mr. Mutchnick rushed by, oblivious.

“Max didn’t say hello, and he didn’t help me pick up the plastic bottles,” said Mr. Hyman, who resolved they would never date.

When Mr. Mutchnick belatedly recognized Mr. Hyman, he shot out of his seat and offered a profuse apology.

The first words out of Mr. Hyman’s mouth were, “Would you like to have dinner?”

One dinner was all it took, though Mr. Mutchnick’s doubt catapulted him into monologue mode. “When there’s nobody saying anything,” Mr. Hyman said, “he will fill those moments with words.”

But when Mr. Mutchnick nervously asked how the evening was going, Mr. Hyman calmly reassured him, saying, “It’s going very well. We’re very attracted to each other.”
