RUSSIA WILL SIDE WITH MUGABE AT UNSC

BBC: Russia may veto Mugabe sanctions
Russia has said it could veto proposed UN sanctions against Zimbabwe's president and his allies, despite agreeing a G8 statement backing them.

Russia has the power to veto any measures at the UN Security Council, which could take a vote this week.

The US and the UK are pushing for a travel ban and assets freeze on Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe and 11 of his allies, and an arms embargo.
  • AT BEST RUSSIA IS A BASTION OF AMORAL SOCIALISM.

MORE PROOF THAT THERE'S NO SHORTAGE OF OIL AND PEAK OIL IS BUNK: THE NORTH SEA HAS LOADS MORE!

NEW SCOTSMAN: £750bn oil reserves remain untapped under North Sea
A POTENTIAL prize of £750 billion in unrecovered oil and gas reserves is in the North Sea and the Atlantic frontier west of Shetland, industry leaders said yesterday.

But they warned that without new technology and investment incentives from the government, the reserves will never be recovered to boost the ailing British economy.

Under the current fiscal regime and investment plans, only around ten billion barrels of oil and gas stand to be recovered over the next two or three decades.

However, the latest economic report by Oil and Gas UK, the pan industry trade body, claims a further 15 billion barrels or more could be pumped from the UK Continental Shelf. That equates to almost half that extracted from the North Sea so far.
THAT'S ONE AND A HALF TRILLION BUCKS OF OIL.

THERE IS NO SHORTAGE OF OIL NOW - AND NONE LOOMING.

PROOF THAT OBAMA'S CERTIFICATE OF LIVE BIRTH IS A SCAM

Obama's official website - fight the smears - posted a copy of Kos's copy the allegedly real state document.

WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT!?

Wouldn't they have access to the original certificate of live birth!?

YES, IF IT EXISTS.

And wouldn't they make their own copy/JPEG to post!?

YES: IT WOULD EASY.

(We know the one Obama posted is a copy of the one Kos posted because they both contain the exact same minute flaw. And we know which was posted first.)

So... then the one they posted must be fake - and Obama must know that.

I wonder if a real one like the one posted exists?

Only Obama himself can put this tangential mystery to bed: OBAMA: RELEASE THE ORIGINAL.

I think Obama will release the real one as soon as Kerry releases his complete military file.

That mean at around a quarter to NEVER.

Because they are hiding things. Damaging things.

ARABIC CLASSES IN AMERICA

Since 9/11, we have heard of the importance of more of us learning to speak Arabic. Indeed, more and more people today are studying the Arabic language, many of these students enrolled in community colleges and prestigious universities as well as uncounted others studying by using software such as Rosetta Stone. I personally know a few young people who have attempted such classes, only to abandon their study of Arabic; the reasons they gave me, their former teacher, were vague but typically included a level of discomfort with the material or the instructor.

A July 5, 2008 Washington Post commentary, written by a student at Harvard Law School, provides disturbing information about the material offered in such classes:
To study Arabic in America today is to be inducted into a world of longing, abandonment and regret. And that's before you even touch the political issues....

Is The Oil Bubble Popping? Oil Down $8 Per Barrel In The Past Two Days

From AP:
Oil prices fell as much as $6 a barrel Tuesday, bringing crude down $10 this week and hurling prices back to levels not seen since June 26. Traders, keeping a wary eye on the global economy, cashed in gains from oil's recent rally. A barrel of light, sweet crude for August delivery fell $6.23 in morning trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange, following a $3.92 slide on Monday, and later traded down $5.79 at $135.58.

The market's bearish turn this week erases, at least for the time being, the effect of a rally that pushed prices past $145 in a string of record-setting sessions before the Fourth of July. Analysts attributed much of the recent sell-off to profit-taking, saying traders were cashing in on the previous week's gains. At the same time, concerns about supply disruptions subsided and fears that the economic slowdown is spreading moved to the forefront.

"Sagging global equities, which are tipping a lack of confidence in economic growth in both developed and emerging economies, helped trigger the retreat in the energy markets," Addison Armstrong, director of market research at Tradition Energy, said in a research note. Still, analysts warned the pullback could be fleeting, saying it is a correction that could quickly shift and send prices bolting higher. Trader and analyst Stephen Schork said the expectation just a few days ago that crude prices would touch $150 this week now "does not look like the proverbial done deal."

UPDATE: RELIAPUNDIT ADDS: NYTIMES:
Crude prices tumbled, falling $5.33 to settle at $136.04 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, bringing oil's two-day drop to more than $9.
THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF THE END FOR OVER-PRICED OIL.

REMEMBER: MARKETS ARE THE MOST EFFICIENT WAY TO PRICE THINGS, BUT THEY ARE NOT ALWAYS RIGHT ALL THE TIME.
  • THE COMMODITIES MARKETS ARE SKEWED AND GROSSLY OVERVALUING AND GROSSLY INFLATING THE PRICE OF OIL BECAUSE THERE IS TOO MUCH MONEY CHASING A RELATIVELY STABLE TO SLIGHTLY GROWING AMOUNT OF OIL.
  • FACT: IN 2003, THERE WAS $13BILLION OF FUND MONEY IN COMMODITIES; NOW: $250BILLION. THIS HAS DRIVEN THE PRICE UP, AND NOT INDUSTRIAL USAGE OR "PEAK OIL".
  • VIA GLENN REYNOLDS:
Since 2003, worldwide oil prices have quadrupled. According to a new study, the price of oil is rising at a faster-than-exponential rate, and cannot be sustained. In other words, we’re in the midst of an oil bubble, say researchers Didier Sornette and Ryan Woodard of ETH Zurich in Switzerland and Wei-Xing Zhou of the East China University of Science and Technology in Shanghai, China.
PRICES HAVE SKY-ROCKETED SINCE 2003 BECAUSE OF THIS INFLUX.
  • It is wrong/misleading to call this influx "speculators"; they are investors - many: pension funds. The effect of this inflow is not good for the energy markets or the economy. That's why it needs to be regulated more effectively.
  • WHEN THE OIL/COMMODITY BASKET STARTS TO DECLINE - AS IT IS NOW - THESE PROGRAMS WILL GO INTO "SELL" MODE, AND THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL WILL BE FAST AND STEEP.

Bob Herbert: This Is Not The Obama I Knew

The left is becoming disenchanted with the phony flip-flopping Barack Obama.

Obama's supporters are increasingly worried as he keeps changing his positions and some are beginning to throw him under the bus.

From Hot Air:
Only an idiot would think or hope that a politician going through the crucible of a presidential campaign could hold fast to every position, steer clear of the stumbling blocks of nuance and never make a mistake. But Barack Obama went out of his way to create the impression that he was a new kind of political leader — more honest, less cynical and less relentlessly calculating than most.

You would be able to listen to him without worrying about what the meaning of “is” is.

But Senator Obama is not just tacking gently toward the center. He’s lurching right when it suits him, and he’s zigging with the kind of reckless abandon that’s guaranteed to cause disillusion, if not whiplash.

There has been a reluctance among blacks to openly criticize Senator Obama, the first black candidate with a real shot at the presidency. But behind the scenes, there is discontent among African-Americans, as well, over Mr. Obama’s move away from progressive issues, including his support of the Supreme Court’s decision affirming the constitutional right of individuals to bear arms.
Somehow, I doubt gun control is high on the priority list of black voters.

RELIAPUNDIT ADDS: RIGHT PASTO, BUT UT'S HIGH ON THE LIST FOR LEFTIES! LEFTIES WHO ARE GETTING HIGHLY SKEPTICAL OF OBAMA.

ON ONE LEVEL, THIS ELECTION WILL BE ABOUT WHICH CANDIDATE PISSES OFF THEIR BASE THE LEAST. THE ONE WHO DOES... WINS.

Ex-hostage Betancourt: Tone down 'hate' speech

Some people never learn:

"Former hostage Ingrid Betancourt urged Colombia's president and others in the South American nation Monday to tone down their "radical, extremist language of hate" toward the leftist rebels who held her captive for six years. Betancourt, a politician with dual French-Colombian citizenship who was released last week in a Colombian military operation, skirted questions about her own political future in the interview with French radio. She was campaigning for Colombia's presidency when she was captured in 2002.

Noting the possibility that Colombian President Alvaro Uribe could seek a third presidential term, Betancourt said, "Why not?" She praised his efforts toward her release, but also sent him a warning. "Uribe, and not only Uribe but all of Colombia, should also correct some things," she said. "We have reached the point where we must change the radical, extremist vocabulary of hate, of very strong words that intimately wound the human being."

The Geneva Bible

A great pleasure! I have just received my copy of the recently reprinted Geneva Bible, the translation that the Pilgrim Fathers mainly used. The Geneva Bible was the popular version in the English-speaking world until the "official" King James Bible gradually supplanted it.

I bought my copy via World Net Daily and it cost me rather a lot, which may seem rather mad since I already have many Bibles, including three recensions of the Greek New Testament (i.e. in the original Greek) and some excellent modern translations. But it is exciting to read the words of the Bible just as they were read by the great English Protestant reformers who changed the world and whose reforms are the basis of our entire modern civilization.

Because it was so popular in its day, the Geneva Bible underwent many printings, not all of which were identical. The version I have is a reproduction of a 1599 printing. The King James Bible, of course, was first printed in 1611.

I tend to judge Bible translations by their translation of the first few verses of the Gospel of John. John 1:1 is much used by afficianados of the originally pagan Trinity doctrine to justify their nonsensical dogma. So I was most pleased to see that the Geneva translators gave in their footnote a much better sense of the original Greek than we usually see. The Geneva Bible was renowned in its day for its many informative footnotes and they are still a useful resource. The explanatory footnote for John 1:1 reads: "The son of God is of one, and the selfsame eternity or everlastingness, and of one and the selfsame essence or nature, with the father". That puts the sense of the original much more clearly than the literal translation of the original text itself. The underlying idea in the Greek original -- that the Logos was of divine essence -- is clearly there in the Geneva footnote.

If I were to express the meaning of the original Greek in a purely Anglo-Saxon vocabulary, I would translate it as "And of god-stuff was the word". (See also my many previous exegetical comments on John 1:1 -- e.g. here and here)

So the Geneva Bible did allow the people of the 16th century to get close to the original meaning of the New Testament. And the transformative power of doing that was evident then and continues to this day. Those now ancient words still have enormous power to move the minds of men. The many clergy of the "mainstream" churches who think they have a better or more "modern" message to preach from their pulpits are just self-defeating fools. There is no substitute for the original Gospel.

EVEN OBAMA'S BLACKNESS IS PHONY

WT - VIA HOT AIR:
Sen. Barack Obama is the son of a black man from Kenya and a white woman from Kansas. So why is he "black"?

He is, to be accurate, biracial, equally black and white. Mr. Obama could choose to identify himself in a way similar to golfer Tiger Woods, who describes himself as "Cablinasian" — a mix of his Caucasian, black and American Indian father and his Asian mother (although "Kensan" or "Kanyan" don't have the same ring).

Or Mr. Obama could label himself with obvious legitimacy as white - he was, after all, raised by his white mother and white grandparents after his father abandoned the family when he was 2 years old.

Yet he describes himself as black, and news organizations around the world have followed suit.

The Associated Press said June 3, when the Democratic candidate secured enough delegates to win the nomination, that the biracial senator is "the first African-American to lead a major party ticket" as he seeks to become "the nation's first black president."

But a debate over the topic of race has been raging since he entered the presidential race a year ago. Throughout the primary campaign, political pundits have addressed the question of whether Mr. Obama is "black enough." (A Google search of the candidate's name and the phrase pulls down 152,000 hits.)

Associated Press photographs Sen. Barack Obama's personal history is world's apart. In the 1960s (left), he played with his maternal grandfather, Stanley Armour Dunham, who largely raised him in Kansas. Yet much attention has been given to his relatives in Kenya, including his grandmother Sarah Hussein Obama.

Says who?

On another front, Debra Dickerson, a contributing writer and blogger for the liberal Mother Jones magazine, said at the Salon.com Web site in January that Mr. Obama is not even technically black, defining the term "in our political and social reality" as applying only to "those descended from West African slaves."

Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader said last month that Mr. Obama calls himself black to appeal to "white guilt" over slavery and the rampant racial discrimination that reigned in America from its birth until just 50 years ago.

The Obama campaign would not answer when asked why the biracial candidate calls himself black.

CRUDE OIL CHARTS SHOW A SYSTEMATIC AND A PROGRAMMED RISE IN OIL PRICES SINCE JANUARY

  • A BARREL OF CRUDE HAS GONE UP 50% SINCE JANUARY.
  • NOTHING ELSE HAS.
  • AND THE DOLLAR HAS OT GONE DOWN 50% IN RELATION TO ANY CURRENCY.
  • SO WHY - WITH DEMAND FALLING - IS OIL BECOMING MORE EXPENSIVE?
LET'S LOOK AT THESE OIL CHARTS:

CHART ONE - THE YEAR:

CHART TWO - THE LAST SIX MONTHS:

CHART THREE - THE LAST THREE MONTHS:

NOTE THAT THE HUGE RUN-UP IN PRICES BEGAN WHEN THE YEAR BEGAN - AS THE SURGE HAS CALMED IRAQ AND AS OIL DEMAND ACTUALLY DECREASED GLOBALLY.

AND ALSO NOTE THAT THE FIRST WEEK OF EACH MONTH IS WHEN THE PRICE OF CRUDE JUMPS TO A DEGREE WAY UT OF PROPORTION FOR THE REST OF THE MONTH.

Since January, there has been no "news" which justifies the enormous increase in the price of crude oil.

There is no "news" in the first week of each month for that last six months which is responsible for the increase in the price of crude oil which occurs - like clockwork.

I think this shows that the run-up in the price of oil is the result of a programmed effort to run-up the price - perhaps funded by OPEC as much as by fund managers with hedge-programs which tell them to switch from stocks when they decline and into commodities, especially oil (especially when it rises!) ---- a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The make these huge stock sales and then huge oil buys in the first week of each month - and this sets the tome for the rest of the month - makes the prophecy and fulfills it.

Some trading regulations might be above to curb this in a way that makes the price of oil more realistic, less a product of investors and more a product of users.

I am not suggesting price controls or regulating a market that is now free of regulations. These markets have plenty of regualtions already. I am suggesting new updated regulations - as I think the current "rules of the game" now make the "score" unacceptable. The bizarre and macroeconomically bad results generated by the current market rules prove the current rules out-dated.

McGovern should know. His initial choice for vice president turned out to be a monumental blunder after it was revealed that Sen. Thomas Eagleton had once undergone shock therapy. McGovern, who initially claimed to back the Missouri Democrat "1000 percent," was eventually forced to accept his withdrawal. Since then, the '72 campaign has become exhibit A for a vice presidential search gone wrong.

"We didn't have any time for [background research]," he recalled. "The first half dozen people that I chose turned me down. I guess they didn't think I had a chance to win or they just didn't want to be Vice President...."

WITH IRAQ WON, EXPECT THE LEFT TO TRY TO MAKE "BOTCHED AFGHANISTAN" THE ISSUE

THE LEFT'S WAR MEME IS THIS:

"IRAQ WAS A DISTRACTION - AND LOOK AT AFGHANISTAN: IT'S WORSE AS A RESULT OF BUSH'S ERROR IN LEADING US INTO IRAQ."

HERE'S AN EXAMPLE - FROM ABC NEWS:

As John McCain and Barack Obama attempt to boost their foreign policy credentials, both candidates may find that whoever wins the White House will likely have to focus more attention on the conflict in Afghanistan than the debate over Iraq that has dominated much of the foreign policy discussion this campaign season.

Afghanistan
U.S. soldiers keep watch at the site where Taliban militants set fire to a convoy of supply trucks in Ghazni, southeast of Afghanistan June 24, 2008.(Shir Ahmad/Reuters)

After seven years of war and billions of dollars to support the government of Afghan President Hamid Karzai, the security situation in Afghanistan is worsening as a resurgent Taliban mounts more attacks on U.S. troops. That makes it increasingly likely that the next administration will have to consider sending more troops to Afghanistan to meet the needs of military commanders.

As the number of U.S. fatalities has dropped in Iraq, those in Afghanistan have been steadily rising.

... . Obama has labeled Iraq a diversion from the real fight in Afghanistan and has expressed support for military commanders to increase the number of troops in that country. ... Obama, on the other hand, has made it a key element of his campaign that the war in Iraq was a costly diversion from the more critical effort in Afghanistan.

... Military officials cite several reasons for the increase in violence, namely the Taliban's "safe haven" in the western tribal areas of Pakistan, where they can launch operations across the border into Afghanistan. Also, unable to defeat U.S. and NATO troops in conventional fighting, the various groups that make up the Taliban insurgency have resorted to tactics like those seen in Iraq, primarily the use of roadside bombs. A third factor cited by American commanders is that with more American troops on the ground than ever there is more combat as they move into areas controlled by insurgents.
THE FOUNDATION OF THE LEFT'S ARGUMENT IS FALSE:
  1. THE IRAQ WAR MADE US - AND THE ENTIRE WORLD SAFER.
  2. THE REASON THE TALIBAN ARE STRONGER - AND INFLICTING MORE VIOLENCE ON AFGHANISTAN - IS THAT THE PAKISTANIS (AND THEIR NEW DEMOCRAT SUPPORTED REGIME) HAVE APPEASED THEM.
THE RECENT ESCALATION OF ATTACKS IN AFGHANISTAN IS THE FRUIT OF APPEASEMENT.

OBAMA WILL ONLY BRING MORE APPEASEMENT: UNCONDITIONAL TALKS WITH THE LIKES OF IRAN; UNILATERAL DISARMAMENT, ETC.

THIS WILL INCREASE TERROR WORLDWIDE.

RULING AUSTRIAN COALITION COLLAPSES OVER LISBON TREATY

EURACTIV:
Austria's government collapsed today (July 7) over contradictions between coalition partners on how to reform the health system and a highly controversial statement by Prime Minister Alfred Gusenbauer on holding referenda on future EU treaties.

Ironically, the first government to fall following the Irish 'no' was not the one led by Brian Cowen. Although not the only reason which prompted Austria's People's Party to leave the coalition government, the blunder by Gusenbauer - who said future EU treaties, including an amended Lisbon Treaty, should be subject to popular referenda - triggered dismay even within his own Social Democratic Party.

The conservatives strongly oppose popular votes on EU treaties. Even within his own camp, Gusenbauer was seen as playing a dangerous game, tapping into anti-EU sentiments.

EXCERPT:
For more than five weeks during the brutally cold winter of 1997, tenants suffered without any heat in a government-subsidized apartment building. The 31-unit building in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood had been "rehabbed" just four years prior at taxpayer expense, no less.
...
All of these buildings were in -- or just blocks away -- from a single state senator's district. A district belonging to a young, up-and-coming politician named Barack Obama.

... During the winter or the scores of subsequent code violations, did state senator Obama ever lift a finger to protect his constituents from "predatory slumlords" like Rezmar?

The answer appears to be a resounding "No".

NOTE: THIS IS FROM A 2007 SUN-TIMES ARTICLE (WHICH WE LINKED TO BEFORE) REVIEWING THE HISTORY OF OBAMA-REZKO CONNECTION:
Obama's friendship with Rezko began with a telephone call.

It was 17 years ago. Obama had just become the first black president of the Harvard Law Review. Newspapers wrote about him. One story caught the eye of David Brint, a vice president of Rezmar, a new company that had become the Daley administration's favored developer of low-income housing.

"I just cold-called him," Brint said in an interview.

Brint said he wanted to know if Obama would come work for Rezmar, developing housing for the poor -- something Obama had expressed interest in, according to the story Brint had read. Brint arranged for Obama to meet Rezko, but Obama didn't take the job.

Obama, who has a law degree from Harvard, subsequently returned to Chicago to lead a voter-registration drive in 1992.

The next year, Obama joined Davis Miner Barnhill & Galland, a 12-lawyer firm that specialized in helping develop low-income housing. The firm's top partner, Allison S. Davis, was, and is, a member of the Chicago Plan Commission, appointed by Mayor Daley. Davis was also a friend of Rezko. Davis and Rezko would eventually go into business together, developing homes.

Another firm partner, Judson Miner, ran the city Law Department under Mayor Harold Washington, one of Obama's political idols.

Asked what Rezko cases Obama worked on, Miner told the Sun-Times, "We'll put together a list of the cases he worked on involving Rezko/Rezmar in the next day or two.''

That was March 13. He never provided the information.

The murder of former Russian agent Alexander Litvinenko was carried out with the backing of the Russian state, Whitehall sources have told the BBC.

Mr Litvinenko, who was a fierce critic of former Russian President Vladimir Putin, was poisoned in London in 2006.

UK investigators suspect former KGB agent Andrei Lugovoi of the murder, but he has always denied any involvement.

Mony a mickle maks a muckle

The old Scots saying above translates roughly as "a lot of little things make a big thing". It is a saying that often occurs to me when I read a common Leftist defence of illegal immigration. David Leong has recently put up a comment (scroll down) on my Immigration Watch blog that is a characteristic version of that defence. The defence is that some individual immigrant is a good person and that therefore all immigrants should be accepted. Stated as baldly as that, the illogic is obvious but the argument is of course usually stated in a more emotional way, usually with some personal mention included and unreferenced assertions about the benefit of "diversity" etc.

Responding to illogic is always difficult but maybe I should have a brief stab at it. Mr Leong himself appears to come from a fine family of mostly LEGAL immigrants from China and Chinese people are of course famous for prospering wherever they go. And the characteristic virtues of the Chinese -- such as patience, reserve and self-control -- are ones that I personally admire. They are certainly virtues that help Chinese to fit in well with predominantly Anglo-Saxon societies.

The essential point here, however, is an unfashionable one: There ARE intergroup differences. Anybody who argues that (say) the Chinese are as a whole no different from Africans (considered as a whole) is simply not being honest. And from what I gather, the Chinese living in China certainly have a dim view of Africans when they are aware of them at all.

The defence mounted by those who are dishonest about group differences, however, is that realists such as myself are "racist". When conservatives do have that accusation hurled at them by Leftists (a common occurrence) however, conservatives sometimes reflect that if the very mild and centrist George W. Bush is accused by the same or similar people of being a Nazi, we are dealing with hysteria rather than reason. So it seems clear that the "racism" accusation is simply one piece of dishonesty being backed up by another piece of dishonesty. Such accusations do however have some effect in suppressing rational debate -- something that Leftists need to achieve in view of their own slim attachment to reality.

There are however many ways in which group differences can be denominated, quite aside from country of origin and I myself do not at all support immigration being based on race or country of origin. Most opponents of illegal immigration into the USA simply support the rules that the USA already has in place and seek to have those rules enforced. Those rules are a mish-mash of criteria but in all cases rely on people being categorized in various ways -- and none of those ways are racial.

If we ignore all criteria and let anybody in, however, we will soon find that the many "mickles" of individual people coming in will amount to a "muckle" that large numbers of the existing citizens of the country may not want. A big majority of Americans, for instance, are greatly displeased by what they see as the large numbers of unassimilated Hispanics who are now in their country and they want that influx stopped. Whether the political elite will do that, however, remains to be seen.

In the end, however, all that I have said above boils down to that very fundamental disagreement between Left and Right over equality. Conservatives believe that people are equal only in the sight of God and before the law whereas Leftists somehow, somewhere, detect an equality that conservatives cannot see at all. On many occasions, only conservatives seem able to see and admit the real differences between people both as individuals and as groups -- and if that is racist then it gives the term "racism" undeserved dignity.

Israel Is 'Canceled' in Berlin

Germany's socialists haven't changed. They just don't use the word "National" any more

Iranian calls for the destruction of Israel are almost routine these days. But for a former official of the Islamic Republic to call for the destruction of the Jewish state in the city where the Holocaust was planned adds a repugnant twist - especially as the German government sponsored the event that gave the man from Tehran a Western stage.

At a conference on the Mideast in Berlin on Wednesday, Muhammad Javad Ardashir Larijani said the "Zionist project," which has "created only violence and atrocities," should be "canceled." Mr. Larijani, a former deputy foreign minister, is the brother of Iran's former nuclear negotiator and current parliamentary speaker, Ali Larijani.

The conference organizers, the Peace Research Institute of Frankfurt, made a clumsy attempt at damage control. "We very much regret that the feelings of several Israeli participants were hurt," the institute said in a statement, making it sound as if the problem was with oversensitive Israelis rather than with the Iranian's call for the destruction of their country.

While the institute said that it rejects Mr. Larijani's comments, it still defended the decision to invite him. The institute says it wants to provide a "forum where politicians and experts can exchange positions - also controversial ones." But calling for the destruction of a country isn't "controversial" - it's beyond the realm of civilized debate. To give such views a "forum" is to give them legitimacy.
