BY INVOKING NATO ARTICLE 4, HAS TURKEY SET THE STAGE FOR DRAGGING US INTO THE CIVIL WAR IN SYRIA A LA "GULF OF TONKIN"???

BBC:
Turkey has called a meeting of Nato member states to discuss its response to the shooting down of one of its warplanes by Syrian forces on Friday. Ankara has invoked Article 4 of Nato's charter, under which consultations can be requested when an ally feels their security is threatened, officials say.
... Nato spokeswoman Oana Lungescu said the North Atlantic Council, the principal political decision-making body within the military alliance, would meet in Brussels on Tuesday to discuss the incident.
"Turkey has requested consultations under Article 4 of Nato's founding Washington Treaty," she told Reuters. "Under article 4, any ally can request consultations whenever, in the opinion of any of them, their territorial integrity, political independence or security is threatened."
Turkey wants to be sure of the strongest backing once it decides its official response, reports the BBC's Jonathan Head in Istanbul.
The government has promised that it will be strong, decisive and legitimate, and that it will share all the information it has with the public.
THIS COULD BE OBAMA'S EXCUSE FOR DOING A LITTLE "WAG THE DOG" BEFORE THE ELECTION.

ALL TURKEY HAS TO DO NEXT IS INVOKE ARTICLE 5 - AND THEN NATO HAS TO HELP TURKEY "DEFEND" ITSELF FROM SYRIA.

HE CONSIDERS ERDOGAN A VERY CLOSE ALLY AND THEY FREQUENTLY CONSULT ON THE PHONE.

PERHAPS THIS TURKISH JET IS OBAMA'S AND ERDOGAN'S "GULF OF TONKIN" INCIDENT?

REFRESHER:
The Gulf of Tonkin Incident', or the USS Maddox Incident, are the names given to two separate confrontations, one actual and one now recognized as non-existent, involving North Vietnam and the United States in the waters of the Gulf of Tonkin. On August 2, 1964, the destroyer USS Maddox, while performing a signals intelligence patrol as part of DESOTO operations, engaged three North Vietnamese Navy torpedo boats of the 135th Torpedo Squadron.[1] A sea battle resulted, in which the Maddox expended over two hundred eighty 3-inch and 5-inch shells, and in which four USN F-8 Crusader jet fighter bombers strafed the torpedo boats. One US aircraft was damaged, one 14.5 mm round hit the destroyer, three North Vietnamese torpedo boats were damaged, and four North Vietnamese sailors were killed and six were wounded; there were no U.S. casualties.[5]The second Tonkin Gulf incident was originally claimed by the U.S. National Security Agency to have occurred on August 4, 1964, as another sea battle, but instead may have involved "Tonkin Ghosts"[6] (false radar images) and not actual NVN torpedo boat attacks.
The outcome of these two incidents was the passage by Congress of the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, which granted President Lyndon B. Johnson the authority to assist any Southeast Asian country whose government was considered to be jeopardized by "communist aggression". The resolution served as Johnson's legal justification for deploying U.S. conventional forces and the commencement of open warfare against North Vietnam.

Hi.

The first stories in the Syrian News papers mentioned TWO planes.
In an arial recon flight it would make sense to send two planes.
Only Syria mention the second plane.
Turkey admitted first that the plane was for 15 minutes in Syrian airspace judging from the speed of such a plane how far did they penetrate Syria in Miles or KM?
