We took a decision that we thought was very difficult, Blair said. I thought then, and I think now, it was the right decision.
Sometimes it's a controversial relationship - at least over in my country, he said Thursday. I have taken the view that Britain should stand shoulder-to-shoulder with America after Sept. 11. I have never deviated from that view. I do not regret that view.
Too bad more politicians don't have a backbone like Tony Blair. Stand for what you believe in, no matter what the cost. Churchill would've been proud.

I agree. Great men are defined not only by being on the right side of history (although, that is a large part of the determination), but by the strength of their commitment.
Tony Blair is a great man.
as the zen archer said:
one must not only aim well, but pull the bow with all one's strength.
You're right, Dee. Blair is definitely not a conservative but he doesn't understand the need for self-preservation. I can't understand why so many liberals don't get it. It's like they don't even have natural instincts! Very weird.
"As mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality."
