Nine Iraqi coastguards have been detained by Iran after a clash on the Shatt al-Arab waterway which marks the Iran-Iraq border, officials say. Basra Governor Muhammad al-Waili said the Iranian Navy had attacked the coastguards after they boarded a ship believed to be smuggling oil. Mr Waili said one Iraqi coastguard was killed, but this was not confirmed by other Iraqi officials. The Shatt al-Arab has long been a source of tension. The commander of the Iraqi regional border force, Brig-Gen Abbas Musawi, called on Iran to free the men immediately.Something like this might trigger all out war between Iraq and Iran. This time: we will aide Iraq and help them destroy the mullah tryanny.

I have been saying on CUANAS that eventually our enemy will fall to anarchy.
We see it happening in the Peaceful State of Palestine, where Fatah and Hamas can't get along, and now, we see it here, with Iran attacking Iraq.
If this goes on, this is the best news of the war so far.
This is all the permission we will need to destroy the Iranian regime. Iran is so stupid to not realize that simple fact. But, evil is stupid, because evil is caught up in great anger and pride.
Now, that we see what their Achilles Heal is, we ought to have Iraq repeatedly prod them, until they do something really stupid.

like the allies then, we dither as the evil axis gains strength.
by delaying the inevitable, the allies allowed the nazi axis to grwo in strength. and thus made the war worse than it might have been if we had blown away hitler in 1936-39.
bold early action would have saved 50-100 million lives. and maybe, we coulda aimed more resouces on Stalin. and maybe ended commie tryanny earlier. and saved eastern europe from it altogether.
which sorta proves it woulda been the right thing to do.
and: it was EXACTLY what churchill suggested over and over again; he was called a warmonger - like george w bush.
sure: the appeasers would've yapped and complained and whined, then (if churchill had got his way)- as they do now. after all herr hitler was the duly elected chancellor of the german nation.
whining appeasers were wrong then and they are wrong now.
and the good people of thew world should acted boldly NOW before iran is nuked-up and a confrontation will waste hundreds of millions of lives.

Better yet would be for Iraq to mount a buildup at the border in preparation for invading with our support. This results in the disaffected youth and some Army divisions staging a junta that takes down the mad mullahs.
