*Leader of the Socialist Party in Brussels.
*At least 8 out of 18 members are Muslims.
*Freddy Thielemans was elected mostly on Muslim votes.
*23% of the city council are Muslims
*Freddy Thielemans has approved all demonstrations in Brussels within the last 5 years, also Muslim demonstrations. Only 5 have been prohibited and these were all terror organisations.
*According to many concerned citizens within Brussels, is it only a matter of time before Muslims can take over the city council.
*In 2005 on the day of Pope Johannes Paul’s death, Freddy was eating in a restaurant. At the same time he got the sms message, he jumped up and declared:
The pope is dead, champagne for all!
“In that case we still ask people to come to Brussels, where we will stage a ‘birthday party’ for Mr Thielemans and everyone else who happens to be born on 11 September. So, you see Mr Thielemans, it looks as though your ban is backfiring big time. But look at the bright side; you're probably going to have a lot more people celebrating your 9/11 birthday than you've ever had in your life.
I have been told that there are many Belgians born on that day: Freddy Thielemans, Filip Dewinter, one of your ministers [the leftist multiculturalist Flemish minister of Culture Bert Anciaux] and even your Queen Paola.
So, whether the demonstration is allowed or not, we ask people to come to the Schuman Square (Rond-Point Schuman), in front of the Berlaymont building, the headquarters of the European Commission, at noon (12 am). What we will do anyhow, whether permitted or not, is to hold one minute of silence for the victims of 9/11/2001.”

A U.S. diplomat has warned that the Al-Qaeda terror network is using Bosnia-Herzegovina as a transit point. This "announcement" comes on the heals of NYPD's "announcement" that they feel we are now most threatened by Muslims who were born and bred here in the USA.
Raffi Gregorian told the "Dnevni Avaz" daily that Al-Qaeda "sympathizers" in the country are prepared to help hide agents as well as provide the group with funding and false documents.
Gregorian serves as deputy to Miroslav Lajcak, the top international representative in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Hundreds of fighters from Islamic countries entered Bosnia-Herzegovina to fight with the Muslim Bosnian army against Serbs and Croats during the 1992-95 war.
Such willful blindness is rooted in the reflexive anti-Western nature of many of today's Middle East studies academics. Their eagerness to put the best face on groups and governments widely known for practicing the art of deadly deception parallels their instinctive distrust of their own country and, in a larger sense, the West.TAT GIVES LINKED QUOTES WHICH PROVE THIS POINT.
AND HOW COME FATAH LOST TO HAMAS?IF THE WHOLE WORLD AND ALL ITS CULTURES - INCLUDING ASIAN ONES AND OTHER MUSLIM ONES - ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IRAN AND AL QAEDA, THEN HOW CAN ANYBODY WITH A BRAIN CLAIM THE PROBLEM LIES IN COMMUNICATION!?
AND WHY DID THE TALIBAN OVERTHROW THEIR NATIVE GOVERNMENT?
AND WHY ARE THAILAND'S SOUTHERN REBELS UNABLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE THAI REGIME?
AND WHY IS MUBARAK HAVING SO MUCH TROUBLE WITH THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD, AND THE ALGIERIANS, AND THE MOROCCANS, ETC ETC ETC AND SO FORTH?!?!?!?!?
Thompson, who is expected to enter the presidential race formally in September, but plans to campaign in Iowa on Friday, was not known as a big-ideas guy and was hardly a heavy-hitter when it came to legislation during his Senate career from 1994 to 2002. Still, he was considered a reliably conservative vote on economic, security and social issues alike. He backed Bush's tax cuts, a prohibition on a late-term abortion procedure and voted to give the president the authority to invade Iraq.More here. And another interesting post on Fred here
More prominently, he established a reputation for working to limit the role of the federal government and protect states rights - an issue that remains very important to him and, perhaps, is an indication of what may lie at the root of his candidacy.
Broadly, he favors a strong federalist approach that emphasizes personal liberties and fiscal conservatism. "Centralized government is not the solution to all of our problems and, with too much power, such centralization has a way of compounding our problems," Thompson wrote in a recent column on his Web site. "This was among the great insights of 1787," when the Constitution was adopted, "and it is just as vital in 2007." He adds: "How we draw the line between federal and state roles in this century, and how we stay true to the principles of federalism for the purpose of protecting economic and individual freedom, are questions we must answer."
Thompson also:
* Splits with Bush on immigration, opposing the president's comprehensive immigration law overhaul bill and, instead, argues for increased border security as well as full enforcement of current federal immigration laws. The issue has divided the GOP, and Thompson is seeking the support of Republicans who object to illegal immigrants getting a path to U.S. citizenship. In one online column, he says: "Federal law must be enforced, or our neighborhoods will continue to be the scene of chilling and lurid crimes committed by those who broke the law in the first place to come to America."
* Appears to take a hard-line approach to foreign policy. He criticizes the United Nations, saying the world body "seems to oppose human freedom rather than promote it." And, in one particularly incendiary commentary for ABC radio in April, he carried on about the perception of the U.S. around the world and its relationships with certain countries. He assails Mexico on immigration, arguing that leaders there "apparently have an economic policy based on exporting their own citizens while complaining about U.S. immigration policies that are far less exclusionary than their own." He adds: "The French jail perfectly nice people for politically incorrect comments, but scold us for holding terrorists at Guantanamo." Thompson saves his most aggressive comments for Russia, contending that ex-KGB agents "apparently" run the country, use their oil wealth to engage in blackmail, and dispose of people who cross them. "Oppose the Russian leadership, and you could trip and fall off a tall building or stumble into the path of a bullet."
* Emphasizes individuals' right to keep and bear arms, as well as the right to own and keep property. He suggests in one online piece that the Virginia Tech massacre could have been deterred had those who were at least age 21 and met certain criteria been allowed to carry concealed weapons on school grounds. In the Senate, Thompson voted against requiring criminal background checks for purchases at gun shows.
* In a recent commentary, he assailed a 2005 Supreme Court decision giving local governments broad power to seize private property to generate tax revenue.
* Calls Bush's tax cuts a "success story" that helped grow the economy and says: "Letting them expire would amount to a tax hike of historic proportions." He also says the president should hold the line on spending.
"An appointee of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger resigned abruptly Thursday after the Governor's Office learned that he had reprinted an image of a faux illegal-immigrant driver's license that Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata called "hate speech."Any negativity at all is "hate" to Leftists these days -- unless you are talking about Christians, conservatives, G.W. Bush or Israel, of course.
Sam Wakim, also a candidate for the state Assembly in 2008, was appointed by the governor to the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board last November. He posted the mock license on his personal Web site operated under the pseudonym "Abu David" in 2005.
"I think it's appalling for someone who's supposed to represent the public as a board member of a public agency to be engaging in hate speech," Perata said in a statement. "Mr. Wakim's Web postings clearly cross the boundaries of acceptable public discourse."

Aides to both men admit that Mr Maliki and Gen David Petraeus engage in frequent stand-up shouting matches, differing particularly over the US general’s moves to arm Sunni tribesmen to fight al-Qa’eda.
One Iraqi source said Mr Maliki used a video conference with Mr Bush to call for the general’s signature strategy to be scrapped. “He told Bush that if Petraeus continues, he would arm Shia militias,” said the official. “Bush told Maliki to calm down.” (See here)
A young mother had to deliver her own baby in the lavatory of a flagship hospital because there were no trained midwives available.RTWT. IT'S A HARROWING TALE.
Surveyor Catherine Brown had made the agonising decision to undergo a chemically-induced abortion after being told her 18-week pregnancy was risking her life.
But when the time came to give birth she was on an ear, nose and throat ward and had only her mother to help her through the ordeal. Her premature son Edward died in her arms minutes later.
The traumatised mother-of-one said: "I just howled and howled. I remember sitting there looking at him and thinking, 'What do I do next?'. I just sat there on the toilet looking at my dead baby.
"It was dreadful - a terrible nightmare. Then I started crying my eyes out and repeating, 'I'm sorry baby, I'm so sorry'. I still can't believe the hospital had no trained staff who could help me."
They've Finally Gone Too Far!
Hamas is a terrorist group whose only purpose is to murder as many innocent people as possible. For some reason, that hasn't bothered many on the Left. Now, though, Hamas has finally gone too far for PETA: they've mistreated animals!
An animal rights group on Wednesday criticized a program on a Hamas-run television station in which a man swings cats by their tails and throws stones at lions in a zoo to teach children not to abuse animals.

There's more to life than war, taxes and politics - and a lot of it's more fun, too! That's why every WEEKEND, here at THE ASTUTE BLOGGERS, we post on some of the cultural things we're into, things we think you might also find entertaining, enriching, and stimulating. And who knows: We just might turn you on to something cool. Here's a great work of art: A GREAT NOVEL BY ANDREI MAKINE: DREAMS OF MY RUSSIAN SUMMERS
Makine was born in Krasnoyarsk, Soviet Union on September 10, 1957 and grew up in city of Penza, a provincial town about 440 miles south-east of Moscow. As a boy, having acquired familiarity with France and its language from his French-born grandmother (it is not sure Makine had a French grand-mother; in later interviews he claimed to have learn French from a friend), he wrote poems in both French and his native Russian.RELIAPUNDIT: I count this book as one of my all-time favorites. The writing is superb and fresh; the story gripping - with an extremely emotional and rewarding climax. Plus, you get a great human history of the USSR. I've read it four times. I love it and respect it more each time
In 1987, he went to France as member of teacher's exchange program and decided to stay. He was granted political asylum and was determined to make a living as a writer in French. However, Makine had to present his first manuscripts as translations from the Russian to overcome publishers' skepticism that a newly arrived exile could write so fluently in a second language. After disappointing reactions to his first two novels, it took eight months to find a publisher for his fourth, Le testament français.
Finally published in 1995 in France, the novel became the first in history to win both the Prix Goncourt and the Prix Medicis plus the Goncourt des Lycéens.
KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, 18 August 2007 — A suicide attacker blew himself up yesterday outside the house of a district governor in southern Afghanistan, killing the official and three of his children, officials said. The attacker detonated explosives strapped to his body as the Zhari district governor, Khairuddin Achakzai, and his children left their compound in the volatile southern city of Kandahar, police and the Interior Ministry said.
They were going to take part in the traditional slaughter of a sheep and distribution of its meat to the poor of the area, they said. Two of the governor’s sons and one of his daughters, all aged under 10, were also killed, said a police officer at the scene, Abdul Ghaffar, adding another son and daughter were wounded.
Khairuddin had a home in Kandahar city but was the administration chief of the nearby Zhari district, where some of the worst violence in the Al Qaeda-linked Taliban’s insurgency has taken place.
Pilgrims celebrating the Hindu month of Shravan (mid-July to mid-August) are filling the pockets of marijuana sellers in the Deoghar district of Jharkand, according to a report in the News Post of India. Considered auspicious by followers of Lord Shiva, the month is marked by, among other things, a pilgrimage by millions of adherents to pour water on the Shiva Linga at the Baidyanath temple in Deoghar.I think the Shiva Linga deserves some explanation. It is the male sex organ.
The pilgrims, clad in saffron, smoke marijuana (ganja) as part of the observance. According to one estimate cited by the News and Post, devotees are buying and smoking 50 to 65 pounds of marijuana a day from happy Deoghhar pot vendors.
BBC Russian Service logo The BBC's Russian-language service will no longer be heard on Russian FM radio, after the country's media regulator ordered that it be removed.
The broadcaster's last FM distribution partner in Russia, Bolshoye Radio, said it had been told to remove BBC content or risk being shut down.
Two other Russian FM stations have dropped BBC programming recently.
The BBC's Russian Service can still be heard online and on medium and short wave frequencies in Russia.
BBC executives said they would appeal against the decision.
"The BBC entered into the relationship with Bolshoye Radio in good faith," said Richard Sambrook, Director of BBC Global News. "We cannot understand how the licence is now interpreted in a way that does not reflect the original and thorough concept documents." He said the licensing agreement allowed for 18% of Bolshoye's content to be foreign-produced.
Bolshoye Radio's owners, financial group Finam, told the BBC that Russia's media regulators required that all programming be produced by the station itself. ...
Critics say Russia is taking measures to curb media freedom ahead of parliamentary elections in December and a presidential poll in March.
MUELLER WAS NOT IN THE ROOM AT THE TIME GONZALES AND CARD MET WITH ASHCROFT. The most obvious heir to a position of Karl Rove-like influence is Mark Penn, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's top political adviser... On the Republican side, Jeri Thompson, wife of former senator Fred D. Thompson of Tennessee, has become controversial because of her heavy involvement in the day-to-day operations of her husband's potential campaign despite having relatively little political experience. You can see the tension - is she an interfering wench or the next leftist Darth Vader photoshop? It depends on how well the Thompson campaign does. If the left can't explain Thompson's popularity (because why would anyone support Republicans?), the meme will slide to "evil genius". If the Thompson campaign flounders, the ostensible progressives on the left will be more than happy to settle for "see, we told you she was a sorority girl gender traitor bimbo". Seething and resentful hypocrisy - always in fashion.
Palestinian medical officials said a second civilian, Ibrahim al-Shami, 40, was fatally shot by soldiers when he went out onto the roof of his house and that of a total of 15 people wounded, seven were civilians. The army often carries out raids into Gaza to target militants and to thwart rocket fire toward Israeli towns. You think he was up there fixing his satellite dish or something? We're even more impressed by the AFP version of events, which fails to mention that this undoubtedly innocent man just happened to be on a rooftop during a firefight. AFP stringer Sakher Abu El Oun gallantly limits himself to merely noting that, you know, those Israelis - they kill civilians. The JPost roundup on this gets a statement from the IDF to the effect that the satellite-dish repairmen was a gunman - believe it or not, journalists are supposed to print denials from official sources, yes? Certainly they always do when Hezbollah or Hamas is like "we didn't do it even though there are pictures that we did it". Wonder how the Israeli clarification slipped through.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have launched a new military campaign against radical Muslim insurgents in its southern regions, an offensive nominally aimed at finishing off the hobbled 300-member Abu Sayyaf terror group, but one that also threatens to widen the conflict with two ceasefire groups, the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).THIS IS NOT ABOUT SADDAM/WMD OR IRAQ, OR AFGHANISTAN, OR GAZA. IT IS ABOUT GLOBAL JIHAD. AND THE ENEMY WON'T STOP UNTIL WE DEFEAT THEM. EVERYWHERE.
Manila recently ramped up its military deployment to the restive region, where estimates of soldiers on the ground ranging widely from 5,000-12,000. Army chief General Romeo Tolentino recently announced that he had temporary moved army headquarters from Manila to Zamboanga City on the southern island of Mindanao while the campaign is conducted. Fighting on the southern island of Jolo this month saw 50 people - including 25 army soldiers - killed in armed exchanges, and thousands of civilians have since evacuated the area.
Pakistan has deployed thousands of security forces on the border areas of Kurram tribal agency with Afghanistan’s Tora Bora region where a major operation has been launched by the US and Nato forces against Taliban and Al Qaeda.GULF DAILY:
Tribal sources said here yesterday from the border villages that heavy contingents of the Pakistan Army and the paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) reached there and strengthened security on the border with Afghanistan.
This new and rather rare deployment of the troops has been made at Tandar, Ghandao, Arwaza, Said Karam and a number of other villages situated on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
According to sources, some of the villagers having houses deep inside the border have been asked by the soldiers to shift their families and livestock to other towns in Lower Kurram Agency as the situation could suddenly get worse there.
WANA, Pakistan: Ten Islamist militants and four Pakistani soldiers were killed in clashes in the Waziristan region yesterday, the latest in spiralling violence in the tribal area near the Afghan border.Musharraf is on our side. Jerks like Obama who undermine him, also undermine our troops and help the enemy. Obama and his comrades in the Democrat Party shouls STFU.
Militants attacked a convoy of security forces at a check-post in South Waziristan about 50km east of region's main town of Wana.
"Security forces retaliated and I have reports that 10 militants were killed and about a dozen wounded," said a military spokesman. Two soldiers were killed and 10 wounded.
Hours earlier, two soldiers were killed and four wounded when a roadside bomb blew up their vehicle in neighbouring North Waziristan.
Meanwhile, the US and Afghan troops pressed an air and ground assault yesterday against Al Qaeda militants grouped in the Tora Bora mountains of eastern Afghanistan, the last known hiding place of Osama bin Laden.
PUBLISHER'S WEEKLY:From Publishers WeeklyAMAZON REVIEWER:
Starred Review. The publication of this book in Germany inspired a huge controversy. In an important, original contribution, Aly, the author of a number of major works on the Third Reich and the Holocaust, argues that the Nazi regime plundered the rest of Europe during WWII to the great material benefit of the German population. Germans lived quite nicely from the sausages, furniture, shoes and even Christmas geese that millions of German soldiers and SS men sent back home from all over Europe. Plunder by official state agencies also financed the war. These points hardly seem revelatory or controversial, but Aly, as is his style, pushes the argument to the nth degree, supporting it with a wealth of documentary detail. The crimes against humanity committed by the regime were not, he argues, the work of a few individuals or an evil external to the population and the course of German history in the 20th century. Rather, the Nazis met the population's overwhelming desire for material security and an improved standard of living. The Nazis redistributed wealth in favor of the lower classes and opened up avenues of social mobility for them. The term "Nazi" means National Socialist Workers' Party. That seeming innocuous phrase has been omitted from the consideration of its meaning, according to Aly. "National" and "Socialist" are the key terms. "National", meant just that - policies were aimed at benefitting Germany. "Socialist", of course, is a philosophy designed to benefit the most people - particularly those of the lower economic classes. Aly argues with detailed evidence that this is precisely what the Nazis achieved during the 1930s and through the war years. That it succeeded right up to the end of the Reich is testimony to the effectiveness of the Nazi economic methods. The average German began, and remained the "beneficiary" of a highly manipulated financial system.
HITLER WAS A SOCIALIST. (AS WAS MUSSOLINI). STALIN'S WAR AGAINST HITLER WAS LIKE HIS WAR AGAINST TROTSKY: INTERNECINE.
US and Afghan forces searching for militants on the Pakistani border have inflicted heavy casualties on al-Qaeda and Taleban fighters, officials say.AY, YO, OBAMA: STFU!
The governor of Ningrahar province said that the operation in Tora Bora was going "very well" and that al-Qaeda and the Taleban had suffered heavy losses.
But a spokesman for the governor, Nooar Agha Zwak, said he could not give precise casualty details.
Officials in Ningrahar say the area has many Afghan and foreign militants.
'Precision munitions'
Local residents say that so far around 250 families have fled the area after two days of fighting, in which US and Afghan air and ground forces pounded al-Qaeda militants.
The US military said that "al-Qaeda and other violent extremist fighters" had been engaged in the fighting during a "combined arms assault using precision munitions".
US air strikes on Tora Bora in December 2001
There were no substantiated reports of civilian casualties in the fighting, a statement said, contradicting earlier reports that many civilians had been killed.
... the claim that a divided America is somehow “bad” is itself intellectually sloppy. Most of us prefer social harmony to discord—but unity is not the only, or even the highest good in politics. Was there a more divisive and reviled president than Lincoln, who uprooted the centuries-old institution of slavery? The biographer Robert Jackson wrote that after Franklin Roosevelt had been in office for a brief period, “the lines began to separate between those in whom he inspired an all-out devotion and those in whom he aroused an implacable hatred.” Martin Luther King, Jr. was “the object of bitter hatred.” And in 1984 the pollster Lou Harris claimed that Ronald Reagan was polarizing the country more than any president since FDR.WE POSTED THIS SAME POINT - FIRST - OVER A WEEK AGO.
“Conviction politicians” are often polarizing because they take ideas seriously and are willing to do battle on their behalf. And often the greatest advances in history come about only after contentious political debates led by brave and, yes, polarizing political leaders.
A majority of Americans don't trust the upcoming report by the Army's top commander in Iraq on the progress of the war and even if they did, it wouldn't change their mind, according to a new poll. ... Of those opposed to the war, 47 percent said Petreaus' report could not change their mind while 17 percent said it could. Most people who call themselves "anti-war" have made up their minds already.
...CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said he doesn't think the mistrust is directed at Petreaus as much as it is what he represents.
"It does seem to indicate that anyone associated with the Bush administration may be a less than credible messenger for the message that there is progress being made in Iraq," Holland said.
(IN THIS RESPECT MATTHEWS IS AGREEING WITH AL QEADA - LIKE SO MANY DEMS THESE DAYS!)WOULD CHRISSY SAY THAT ABOUT JFK!?!?!?
I vote for members of both parties, and I don't know which party I'm voting for next year.I find this extraordinarily bizarre.
The hawkiest of the Dems is Hillary and even she supports withdrawal by a date certain.WHAT'S WORSE, The Dems all maintain this belief despite the gains our surge is winning. And, despite the signal it would send to friend and foe alike.
Obama has made either major gaffes or major foreign policy errors: calling for attacking our ally, Pakistan, and deriding our soldiers in Afghanistan.
Biden has long favored an arbitrary withdrawal timetable.
Edwards too.
Ditto Richardson.

Matt Damon in The Bourne Ultimatum Hollywood star Matt Damon has dismissed James Bond as being stuck in the past.Damon is a good actor who is a dupe of left-wing anti-American BS.
The actor, who appears in the Bourne thrillers, said: "The Bond character will always be anchored in the 1960s and in the values of the 1960s."
The suave spy was "so anachronistic when you put it in the world we live in today", he said, but added that Bourne was no better or worse than Bond.
Damon was speaking in London, where The Bourne Ultimatum, the third film in the franchise, was having its UK premiere.
"Bond is an imperialist and a misogynist who kills people and laughs about it, and drinks Martinis and cracks jokes," he told reporters.
