PERES' CAMPAIGN ADVISER ADVISES AGAINST RUN FOR PRESIDENCY

One of Shimon Peres' political advisers has told him a run for presidency is not a good idea:
The presidential campaign adviser to Vice Premier Shimon Peres this weekend told his client not to enter the race.

Senior adviser Eyal Arad that Peres that he was unlikely to get the necessary votes in a secret ballot, Haaretz reported, and that a defeat would be disgrace his public and international image. Peres is already branded as a loser among the Israeli public, having lost an unprecedented seven elections for top offices. A further obstacle to a Peres win in the current presidential election would be the candidacy of MK Collette Avital, endorsed by the Labor Party, who would siphon off votes in the first round.
And by now, at his age, a run for presidency would be much too comedic for him.
