VIA IMAO: WHAT OBAMA'S DREAM OF SHARING THE PROSPERITY INVARIABLY LEADS TO:
MY TAKE - 2/10/12:
THE ONLY WAY TO UPLIFT THE POOR IS TO ENLARGE THE ENTIRE PIE.
TAKING SOME OF ONE PERSON'S SLICE TO GIVE TO SOMEONE ELSE DOESN'T CREATE PROSPERITY - BUT THAT'S WHAT OBAMA REALLY REALLY BELIEVES AND NOW ADMITS HE WANTS TO DO WHEN HE SAYS WE HAVE TO "SHARE THE PROSPERITY."
“The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more.”
FLUSH ACCORDINGLY.
AND VOTE ROMNEY-RYAN.
In a Platonic-style dialogue Frederic Bastiat in his What is Money? has his interlocutor work out the following syllogism:
ReplyDelete"Therefore he who lends capital ought to obtain nothing from it; therefore he who lends you capital, if he gains something by it is robbing you; therefore all capitalists are robbers; therefore wealth, which ought to serve gratuitously those who borrow it, belongs in reality to those to whom it does not belong; therefore there is no such thing as property; therefore everything belongs to everybody; therefore..."
Bastiat, though he died in 1850, is an entertaining, insightful and up-to-date critic of the political economy. I wish his work was more widely read.

ReplyDeletemarxists and socialists and anti-capiatlists are fundamentally anti-democratic.
marx favored the dictatorship of the proletariat, not democracy; socialists just want to replace one elite with another - rich people with people who claim to represent workers.
like hoffa and trumka and stern.
crooks.
when someone risks anything for commercial reasons, they deserve a share of the return - if not all of it.
investing and lending are essentially the same thing, and the person who accepts the loan or investment does it with open eyes.
it's a deal between to parties free to make private deals on private and fair terms - deemed fair by the parties or they wouldn't enter into them.
when third parties attempt to intervene and intercede and interfere with the deal, they are being fascists.

ReplyDelete"marxists and socialists... are fundamentally anti-democratic." Right you are. Marxism and its variants cannot function without accumulating and exercising narrowly centralized power. A democratic republic cannot function without distributed power. Nor without capitalism.
