Arabs from Burin, encouraged and supported by extreme left-wing activists, started a huge fire near Burin on Friday.Several days ago, the Knesset decided not to investigate leftist groups for corrupt activities; it may have been for how they get their funding. If any are responsible for encouraging this mess, I think it'd be in the best of interests to investigate them for it.
The Shomron Regional Council reported that the fire spread up a nearby mountain and came dangerously close to the homes of the nearby community of Givat Ronen.
Firefighters who were called to put out the fire were pelted with stones, causing one of them injuries to his face, said the Council.
The attackers only retreated when IDF soldiers arrived on the scene and fired warning shots into the air.

Of all the leftover business for the Obama administration as U.S. troops prepare to leave Iraq at the end of the year, nothing is more symbolic of the continuing threats there — and throughout the region — than the case of a Lebanese Hezbollah operative named Ali Mussa Daqduq.
Daqduq has been one of Iran’s top covert operatives in Iraq, according to U.S. officials. He was captured in March 2007 by U.S. forces in Basra who had evidence that he had plotted (with Iranian help) a kidnapping in Karbala that January that resulted in the deaths of five American soldiers. U.S. satellite photos showed the Iranians had even built a mock-up of the Karbala facility inside Iran to practice the kidnapping.
Daqduq is a prisoner at Camp Cropper, a U.S. detention facility near the Baghdad airport. Thousands of other detainees have already been released, and the United States must close Camp Cropper by year’s end under the status-of-forces agreement negotiated by the Bush administration. The detainees will be handed over to the Iraqis (who would probably free many of them) unless they are transferred elsewhere.

Naser Abdo shouted "Nidal Hasan Fort Hood 2009!" as he was led out of the courtroom Friday, an apparent homage to the suspect in the worst mass shooting ever on a U.S. military installation. Investigators say Abdo, who cited his Muslim beliefs in requesting conscientious objector status last year, was found in a motel room three miles from Fort Hood's main gate with a handgun, an article titled "Make a bomb in the kitchen of your Mom" and the ingredients for an explosive device, including gunpowder, shrapnel and pressure cookers. An article with that title appears in an al-Qaida magazine.

The sizes of the tree rings were compared with the number of sheep in that particular section and the climate of that given year. The goal was to disentangle the relationship between the sheep browsing and climate.
According to Dr. James Speed, lead author from the NTNU Museum of Natural History and Archaeology, "We found tree ring widths were more affected by sheep than the ambient temperature at the site, although temperatures were still visible in the tree ring records. This shows that the density of herbivores affects the tree ring record, at least in places with slow-growing trees."
"Our study highlights that other factors interact with climate to affect tree rings, and that to increase the accuracy of the tree ring record to estimate past climatic conditions, you need to take into account the history of wild and domestic herbivores. The Senate majority leader, Harry Reid of Nevada, said Senate Democrats would move immediately Thursday night to set aside the House proposal if it wins passage and then take steps to force a vote on Mr. Reid’s own proposal to raise the debt limit through 2012 in exchange for more than $2 trillion in cuts.
“No Democrat will vote for a short-term Band-Aid that would put our economy at risk and put the nation back in this untenable situation a few short months from now,” Mr. Reid said.
But the House Republican leaders, all but declaring that they now had the votes in hand, said that would put blame for the continuing crisis on the Senate Democrats.
“When the house takes action, the United States Senate will have no more excuses for inaction,” said the House speaker, John A. Boehner, just before taking his bill to the floor for debate.
As they prepared to open debate, he and his fellow Republican leaders seemed confident that they would indeed pass the bill soon and send it to the Senate.
Lawmakers and top aides expressed confidence that they could win over enough members to prevent a humiliating defeat on the House floor for the speaker and the party. Even as they pushed for the plan, the leadership said the proposal fell short of their desires.
“Is this as much as I want? No,” Mr. Boehner told them. “But it advances our goals and doesn’t violate our principles.”

A U.S. military serviceman has been arrested in connection with an alleged plot to attack Fort Hood nearly two years after a deadly shooting rampage at the base, Fox News has learned exclusively.And this was the very soldier whom the army was going to merely allow standing on the side rather than just discharge dishonorably as he should've been.
Pvt. Naser Jason Abdo, an AWOL soldier from Fort Campbell, Kentucky, was arrested by the Killeen Police Department near Fort Hood and remains in custody there.
Abdo, 21, was found with weapons, explosives and jihadist materials at the time of his arrest, a senior Army source confirms to Fox News. He was arrested at around 2 p.m. Wednesday after someone called authorities to report a suspicious individual.
Eric Vasys, a spokesman with the FBI's San Antonio Office, said authorities found firearms and bomb making components inside Abdo's motel room. Sources also say Abdo was attempting to make a purchase at Guns Galore in Killeen, the same ammunition store where Major Nidal Hasan purchased weapons that were allegedly used to gun down 13 people and wound 30 others at the base on Nov. 5, 2009.
Sources said Abdo had enough materials to make two bombs, including 18 pounds of sugar and six pounds of smokeless gunpowder -- a possible trigger for an explosive. A pressure cooker was also found.
"He was all ready to go," one law enforcement source said.
Another counterterrorism source said the bomb making materials and methodology came "straight out of Inspire magazine and an Al Qaeda explosives course manual."
Law enforcement officials suspect Abdo was planning an attack in or around Fort Hood, though they say the exact target is not clear.
Police in Killeen received information from the owners of Guns Galore about a suspicious male who entered the store and, after asking about smokeless gun powder, purchased as much as six pounds of the powder, three boxes of 12 gauge ammunition and a magazine for a Springfield 9mm. The man allegedly paid for the items in cash and then left in a cab.
Bob Jenkins, a Fort Campbell spokesman, told Fox News that Abdo was also being investigated for child pornography found on his government computer.

- It cuts spending and it doesn’t raise taxes. That is an improvement over current law.
- There is nothing in the bill that I dislike. That’s a rarity.

- It tees up this battle again in 4-6 months, providing another opportunity and keeping the pressure on to cut spending.
- It creates a process that keeps our underlying fiscal policy problems front-and-center for the foreseeable future rather than punting them into 2013.

Some conservative Members of Congress are opposing the bill because they think it does not do enough. While $850 B – $1 T of spending cuts is a medium-sized deficit reduction bill relative to historic practice, I agree that it is far from sufficient to solve our underlying budget problems. In that respect it is a step in the right direction, nothing more.

According to a report on BBC Panorama, 17 women’s deaths, in the last 18 months, could have been avoided if the correct standard of care had been given.
An investigation was conducted after NHS London noticed a rise in the number of maternal deaths in 2009. These results revealed 17 out of 42 fatalities could have been prevented.

(This means countries like Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia would have to be shunned.)
We should no more accept islamo-misogyny than accept slavery.
That would be a good place to start.
Inasmuch as I've written hundreds of posts on Islamists and Islamism it's a bit tedious to have to do it one more time.
Islam is a system of beliefs -- a faith. Islamism is a political system in which there is no separation of church and state and religious law prevails. Islamists are those who believe in Islamism.
As a political matter I've got not problem with Islam or Muslims. If you want to pray five times a day, build a mosque in my neighborhood, and never know the delicious goodness of pork I really don't care.
It's only when you start demanding -- as a matter of legal requirement -- that I stop making fun of your prophet that your religion stops being a religion and quickly becomes a form of political fascism.
I'm not a Muslim so I am not in the business of deciding whether true Islam demands the implementation of sharia or not. Plenty of Muslims tell me that it doesn't. Others tell me it does. That's something for them to work out, not me.

Just over two years ago Barack Obama triggered the first and most enduring foreign policy debate of the presidential campaign when he was asked whether he would "be willing to meet separately, without precondition, during the first year of your administration, in Washington or anywhere else, with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea."
"I would," responded Obama. He later hedged a little but otherwise stuck to that stance through months of pounding by Hillary Rodham Clinton and later John McCain, both of whom called him naive. His advocacy of what he called "direct diplomacy" became a prime feature of his campaign; the suggestion was that this energetic and eloquent man could, as president, bring about breakthroughs in some of the toughest foreign policy problems through his personal diplomacy.
So it seems worth noting that as Obama heads into the homestretch of his first year he has yet to meet with any of the enumerated rogues -- a passing handshake with Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez at an inter-American summit notwithstanding. Nor is he likely to have any such meetings in the foreseeable future. In fact, one of the emerging lessons of the Obama administration's foreign policy might be summed up as follows: The idea that presidential "direct diplomacy" with actors such as Chávez, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Kim Jong Il or Fidel Castro is feasible or likely to produce results is, well, naive.
AND THE WORLD IS LESS SAFE AS A RESULT.

A REAL SPENDING REDUCTION AND DEBT REDUCTION PLAN WOULD CUT AT LEAST $10 TRILLION OVER TEN YEARS
Under BJ Clinton on the year 2000 the federal government spent $2 trillion. Now we are spending twice that each year. WHY!?
Has the population doubled? Nope. Has the cost of living? Nope. The number of people on social security and medicare and medicaid? Nope. SO... if we returned to year 2000 spending levels, then the whole dang country wouldn't fall apart, would it? Not at all. That would mean a $2 trillion dollar cut to each years annual budget, wouldn't it?
Yes. SO if we did ONLY half of that it would mean $10 trillion in savings - twice what the most conservative politicians inside the beltway are talking about, right? RIGHT.
And that's what we should shoot for - but not now; in 2012. We just don't have the mandate yet.

Keep in mind that under a balanced approach, the 98% of Americans who make under $250,000 would see no tax increases at all. None. In fact, I want to extend the payroll tax cut for working families.SO.. ER UM... WHICH IS IT OBAMA!?!?!?!?
