Perhaps my memory is faulty, but I don't recall anything quite like this level of panic before except in the days of polio outbreaks:
Rockville High School [one of the largest high schools in the D.C. area] is closed "until further notice," officials said last night, because authorities have reported a probable case of swine flu involving a student. As most know, I am a teacher. I have to say that over the past few days I have noted that my students are stressed out over the "pandemic." In fact, some of my students are downright scared. One is even stuttering nervously every time he tries to participate in class discussions.
[...]
"A decision was made to close the school Thursday on the advice of the Centers for Disease Control and the Maryland state health department," Tillman said. "We are taking immediate steps to close the school."...
I haven't seen this level of fear since the days of the D.C. Snipers.
Is this flu outbreak a case of the perfect storm, a "crisis" to promote BHO's upcoming "health care reform" and the globalization of health care?
I do believe there is something very off about the way this flu is being discussed in the public forum.
ReplyDeleteThe most outlandish words (or frightening - depending on how you look at it) came from that idiot Biden yesterday, when he recommended people avoid all forms of public transportation.
That being said, I do know a lot of people who are coming down with a strain of the flu which they claim is making them feel "like I was going to die".
Now, this could just be people's normal exaggeration, but they also look pretty ill, and they do miss multiple days of work.
The question I have is, is this flu, perhaps, an early strain of something which will mutate and come back much worse in a few months, as apparently happened in the 1917.1918 pandemic?
Here's one way to look at your question, however, AOW: If the Obama Admin. is simply using this flu as a rampup to their Health Care Reform, and it turns out to be much ado about nothing, then they are going to undermine their own authority.
But then, maybe that doesn't matter, because Obama seems to be even more Teflon than Reagan.
Pastorius,
ReplyDeleteSo far, the cracks in BHO's Teflon aren't serious enough for the majority of his supporters to have enough doubts. Yet.
As for much ado about nothing, the mainstream media are making a bigger deal of this flue outbreak than is warranted at this time.
Now, as to Rockville High School, I've known of much more serious outbreaks of contagious diseases; yet that school remained open. I find all this closing of schools a strange phenomenon.
