LABOUR PARTY POLICY REVIEW: NHS TO BE REDUCED TO ONLY GIVING CORE COVERAGE

FT:
The National Health Service might provide only core services, with patients forced to pay for any other treatment or meet it from private insurance, the government has revealed on Monday.

News that ministers were examining the possibility of defining the services that the NHS is obliged to provide free to everyone was disclosed in the small print of the public services policy review launched on Monday by Tony Blair, the prime minister, and Gordon Brown, the chancellor.

It says the government should “look at the possibility of drawing up a package of services that all users are entitled to”. Nice, the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, could be asked to do that.

The health department confirmed it was “looking at the possibility in the normal process of policy development” and agreed that deciding what everyone was entitled to would also involve deciding “what they are not entitled to”.

Academics said that amounted to defining a “basic basket” of services the NHS would fund, but warned it was fraught with technical and political difficulties.
WHY WOULD THEY NEED TO DO THIS? BECAUSE NATIONALIZED HEALTHCARE IS A FREAKIN' FAILURE. AND THIS IN A COUNTRY THAT'S BEEN PRACTICING IT - OR TRYING TO - FOR 50 FREAKIN' YEARS.

WHY SHOULD WE GET ON BOARD THE NATIONALIZED HEALTHCARE SHIP, JUST AS THEY'RE JUMPING OFF!?!? IT MAKES NO SENSE.

  1. Although this is going to be personal pain for my relatives, I see this as good news time two.

    1) it is the natural consequence of socialism, and we always want socialism to meet its natural consequences.

    2) the result of the failure of the UK's socialist medicine is they are returning to a privatized system.

    Yes, they suck, we rule.

  2. we can still find a way to get more people to buy their own insurance. bush proposed a tax method. i've heard nothing but socialism from the dems. which is like prescribing thalidomide for pregnant women: it's a proven disaster. worse: it leads to a state which has an interest in killing you by denying life-saving care: they reap double savings by letting you croak: they save the medical expense and the pension (cause you're dead!).

as a result, old people do NOT get the care in the UK or the EU that they get here.
