CNN/REUTERS: " Black-white life expectancy gap shrinking"

CNN/REUTERS:
The life expectancy gap between whites and African-Americans in the U.S. has narrowed since 1993 ... The black-white gap in U.S. life expectancy narrowed throughout the 1970s and early 1980s but widened from 1984 through the early 1990s. It began to narrow again from about 1994 to today, Harper and his team note in the March 21 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association. ... Homicide was the key contributing factor to the life expectancy gap among males for most of the study period, but by 2003 heart disease had become the leading factor, followed by homicide, HIV and infant deaths. ... Sharp declines in HIV and homicide deaths accounted for 55 percent of the reduction of the mortality gap between 1993 and 2003, the researchers found, while declines in death from unintentional injuries accounted for 16 percent.
SO... BLACKS ARE LIVING LONGER, (AND THEY'RE ALSO OWNING MORE HOMES - AND THE INCOME GAP HAS NARROWED, TOO). HMMM... I BLAME BUSH? HEH.
