Today I read of a pro-democracy Islamic cleric who passed away in Bahrain, which in turn made me ponder recent events in the Mideast:
In Lebanon, Hizb'allah are calling for early elections - while in Gaza Hamas is resisting Abbas's call for early elections.
What does this say aboput how terrorists think of Democracy? Obviously, they feel that democracy is ok, only if it guarantees themselves power - otherwise they revert to their preferred methods of violence and intimidation.
Reliapundit adds: Good point, and this is the essence of hypocrisy. We in the West see that Democracy is both a means (to self-government via mutual consent) and an end in and of itself.
