Obama : Ramat Shlomo/Jerusalem/Israel :: former Mayor Dinkins : Crown Heights

IOW: This may be the moment when a Democrat officeholder who is a liberal and who is popular with secular/liberal Jews loses much of his Jewish support by being seen as openly siding with antisemites.

Here's the Dinkins/Crown Heights history:
Impact of the riot on the 1993 mayoral race:
"The repercussions of the Crown Heights riot, based on the official indifference to the plight of Jews, contributed directly to the defeat of the incumbent mayor of New York,"[27] David Dinkins. He was embattled by many political adversaries in his reelection bid, including vocal proponents of “black nationalism, back-to-Africa, economic radicalism, and racial exclusiveness.”[1]

On November 17, 1992, New York Governor Mario Cuomo gave the Director of Criminal Justice Services, Richard H.Girgenti, the authority to investigate the rioting and the Nelson trial. The Girgenti Report was compiled by over 40 lawyers and investigators, and consisted of a two volume, 600-page document of its findings on July 20, 1993. It was extremely critical of Police Commissioner Lee Brown. The report also embarrassed Dinkins on his handling of the riots.

According to the report, Dinkins hesitated to deploy vast numbers of police to stop the rioting because he had been elected as a peacemaker. However, this strategy proved disastrous.[28] Many Jews criticized Dinkins for this.
Roger Simon has similar thoughts:
Is the Jewish love affair with the Democratic Party about to end? I know many will be skeptical. And they should be. But I suspect something is brewing. This kind of excessive and weirdly paternalistic attitude to the state of Israel, directed so clearly from the top, seems to come out of a kind of unexamined personal animus. The long record that Obama has of friendship with virulent enemies of Israel has not gone unnoticed.

Whatever the etiology, group love affairs with political parties cannot help but be self-destructive. They may begin in a burst of mutual admiration but they will almost always devolve into a self-destructive “taking for granted” that could only work to the benefit of one party (if that). The love affair between African-Americans and the Democratic Party has been similarly useless for blacks. In the forty years I have lived in Los Angeles, I haven’t noticed life getting significantly better in South Central, a region of the city in which Republicans are about as scarce as killer whales.

This doesn’t mean I think Jews or blacks or anybody else should become Republicans. They should think for themselves and even change sides when it’s advantageous. For Jews, Obama’s behavior is indeed a “teaching moment.” The bizarre over-reaction to a minor incident in Israel should serve as a wake up call.
ME: I THINK THAT AMERICAN JEWS WILL NOT YET FALLOUT WITH THE ENTIRE DEMOCRAT PARTY, BUT WILL WITH OBAMA.

THE OVERREACTION OF THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION WAS CLEARLY HOSTILE.

OBAMA OPENLY SIDED WITH THE ARABS AND WAS TACITLY IMPOSING A PRE-CONDITION ON ISRAEL WHICH ISRAEL HAS NEVER EVER ACCEPTED: RETURNING HALF OF JERUSALEM.

JEWS WHO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT OBAMA MIGHT AS WELL BE SUPPORTING FATAH.
