The father of an Afghan immigrant accused of conspiring to bomb New York around the anniversary of 9/11 was formally indicted Thursday for lying to FBI investigators.

Mohammed Zazi, father of Najibullah Zazi, was indicted by a grand jury in Denver, Colorado, "for making a false statement in a matter involving international and domestic terrorism," the Department of Justice said.

He is free on a 50,000 dollar bond, with electronic monitoring, and was due to appear in court Friday.
