The "Q generation" and that out-of-touch lefist idiot Tom Friedman

FRIEDMAN/NYTIMES:
I just spent the past week visiting several colleges — Auburn, the University of Mississippi, Lake Forest and Williams — and I can report that the more I am around this generation of college students, the more I am both baffled and impressed.

I am impressed because they are so much more optimistic and idealistic than they should be. I am baffled because they are so much less radical and politically engaged than they need to be.
IN OTHER WORDS: FRIEDMAN IS MORE PESSIMISTIC AND MORE RADICAL. AND THINKS EVERYONE SHOULD BE, TOO. THIS TELLS US MORE ABOUT FRIEDMAN THAN COLLEGE KIDS:

  • ALL THIS PROVES IS THAT FRIEDMAN IS ACTUALLY AN ISOLATED LEFTIST FROM THE UPPER WEST SIDE, AND IS WAY TO PESSIMISTIC AND ANTAGONISTIC TO TRADITIONAL CONSERVATIVE VALUES AND POLICIES.

  • IT ALSO PROVES THAT HE KNOWS ABOUT AS LITTLE ABOUT REAL AMERICA AS PAULINE KAEL WHO FAMOUSLY SAID IN 1972, THAT SHE COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT NIXON HAD WON REELECTION IN A LANDSLIDE BECAUSE EVERYONE SHE KNEW VOTED FOR MCGOVERN.
