Ho Hum! The Race Card Again

If it gets misused enough, maybe people will eventually ignore it. I hope everybody will ignore this attempted play:

"Zimbabwe has attacked as desperate and racist the Howard government's ban on the Australian cricket team touring the strife-torn African nation later this year....

Junior Information Minister Bright Matonga said Australia had no right to judge Zimbabwe. "The Australians are mixing politics with sport and the decision shows how desperate the Howard government is to isolate Zimbabwe," Mr Matonga said. "This is also a racist ploy to kill our local cricket since our cricket team is now dominated by black players as we slowly transform cricket from being an elite sport.

Mr Howard banned the September tour yesterday because of the worsening dictatorship of Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe. Mr Mugabe has been in power for 27 years, and is widely blamed for the deaths of tens of thousands of Zimbabweans... Mr Howard said the ban was necessary to prevent Mr Mugabe from scoring a propaganda coup.

Cricket is by far the world's most widely followed bat and ball game so what happens in cricket has some significance
