JOB APPROVAL AND THE POLLS

BUSH AND CONGRESS HAVE LOW JOB APPROVAL NUMBERS IN ALL THE POLLS.

BUT, DOES THIS MEAN THAT VOTERS WILL VOTE FOR THE OPPOSITION? NO. MANY PEOPLE WHO ARE UNHAPPY WITH BUSH AND CONGRESS ARE PEOPLE WHO WOULD NEVER VOTE DEMOCRAT: CONSERVATIVES. IN FACT, ALL OF THE SLIPPAGE WHICH BUSH AND CONGRESS HAVE SUFFERED THE LAST TWO YEARS IS SLIPPAGE OF THE GOP BASE; (Bush hasn't lost support among Democrats and liberals because he never had it to begin with!). WHY HAVE BUSH AND CONGRESS LOST CONSERVATIVE SUPPORT? Simple:
Conservatives are unhappy with the Bush and Congress for many reasons: Harriet Miers; immigration; slow amd weak handling of both Syria and Iran; lack of support for Israel in their war against Hizballah; too much multi-lateralism in regard to North Korea; bad handling of ther Jefferson corruption scandal; and so on.
NONE of the people unhappy with Bush and Congress on these issues would EVER vote Democrat. All the GOP has to do is get them to the polls and the GOP will hold both bodies of Congress.

To get them to the polls the GOP merely has to remind people that if the Democrat Party gets control things will get even worse: Higher taxes at home, and appeasement abroad; NO CONSERVATIVE JUDGES; less support for Israel and Afghanistan and Iraq; more kowtowing to the UN and the EU. If that's what you want, then by all means stay home. You'll be sending a message alright: that Conservatives would cut off their noses to spite their faces.

UPDATE: Since Bush got 52% of the vote last time out, his current numbers mean that about 25% of his supporters are pissed off at him. The GOP must identify these voters and get them to the polls. If they do, then the GOP will do very well, (And the Democrats will claim ANTOHER election was stolen!)

UPDATE #2 - K-LO/NRO: "Newsweek poll puts Democrats far ahead in Congress" — should anyone be shocked that Dems come out ahead when only 28 percent of your poll is made up of Republicans, and 35 percent Democrat... ? Reliapundit: This "poll" OVERSAMPLED Democrats bya WHOPPING 20%! If this "poll" had sampled either the average number of Dems who voted in the last THREE elections, or an equal number of Dems and GOP'ers, then the GOP, and BUSH would be coming out ahead.
