The website of the Al Aqsa Foundation, an organization that operates legally in Israel, describes last week's visit by Economics Minister Naftali Bennett and the Bayit Yehudi faction to Hevron under the headline, "Bennett Defiles al-Ibrahimi," using the Muslim name for the Cave of Patriarchs.

The report cites a group called "Youths against the Settlements" as saying that Bennett's visit, alongside "radical settlers, was "a step that expresses escalation, provocation and indifference to Muslim feelings."

Arutz Sheva's Dalit Halevy reported that the Islamist organizations see visits by Jews to places that are also holy to Islam as defiling those places.

The Islamist website also reported that the IDF did not allow the Arab governor of Hevron to enter the Cave in order to pray. The Palestinian Authority (PA) governor called this "a harsh violation of the freedom of religious practice."

Spoken by the same kind of people who believe Jews - and Christians - are not worthy of free religious practice. Shameful.

FRANK GAFFNEY URGES OKLAHOMA GOVERNOR TO SIGN BILL PREVENTING SHARIA INTO EFFECT

Gaffney, one of the best experts on the subject, has urged the OK governor to sign into law the bill that can prevent US courts from approving sharia:

The founder of a group that has voiced concern about the growing influence of radical Islam within the U.S. asked Oklahoma's governor on Friday to sign a bill that would prohibit foreign laws from being enforced in state courtrooms.

“It is not to say that all Muslims are a threat,” said Frank Gaffney, founder and president of the Center for Security Policy. “It is the case, however, that those who embrace and submit to Sharia and insist on, according to its doctrine, making the rest of us submit to it, are a danger.”

CAIR is predictably opposed to this, and Gaffney reminds that:

Gaffney said the Council on American-Islamic Relations is associated with the Muslim Brotherhood, which is known for engaging in political violence and was responsible for creating Hamas, which the U.S. has designated a terrorist organization. He said the council was founded as a political fundraiser and to do political warfare for Hamas in 1993. Gaffney also said the council has roots in the Islamic Association of Palestine. Gaffney said his information came from a memorandum dealing with the council, which was an unindicted co-conspirator in a 2004 Hamas funding case filed in federal court in Dallas.

“Anyone who considers the Council on Islamic Relations what it professes to be — just a civil rights organization speaking for the Muslims of the United States and not as a Muslim Brotherhood front engaged in influence operations and, frankly, subversion in our country — is grossly mistaken, and is, I'm afraid, unwittingly perhaps, but nonetheless aiding and abetting those engaged in what the Muslim Brotherhood itself calls civilization jihad against the United States,” Gaffney said.

I hope the OK governor will understand these concerns and finally sign into law a bill that America is seriously in need of.

It was used as a mosque beginning in the 15th century.

NAFTALI BENNETT RECEIVED DEATH THREAT LETTER FROM HAREDI EXTREMISTS

A very grave act was committed, one that's required police investigation:

Economics and Trade Minister Naftali Bennett has received a letter warning him that anonymous antagonists performed a mystical ritual to curse him and his family for policies that infuriate the ultra-Orthodox community.

The message arrived at Bennett’s office on Wednesday and declared that the senders invoked a “Pulsa Dinura,” or “lashes of fire,” against him to bring about his early demise.

“You will die you., The Pulsa Dinura has been done to you,” the letter read. It promised that Bennett would end his days like former prime minister Ariel Sharon, who has been in a coma since suffering a stroke in 2006.

“Already, you will have no peace at home,” the letter continued. “A bitter life awaits you. From this day your life is ruined.”

Although the missive was not signed it referred to ultra-Orthodox rabbis and their anger at Bennett.

“It is better not to mess with Torah sages,” the note warned. “Just one tear of theirs is enough to paralyze you for life. [You are] one who caused grief to the ultra-Orthodox and rose to prominence, but in the end you will be like Sharon.”

Bennett’s bureau reported the incident to the police for investigation.

The letter's closing remark was: "All those who hurt the haredim achieved glory, but you'll end up like (Ariel) Sharon."

The ministry estimated the letter is related to the recently proposed outline for equal share of the burden, which includes a haredi draft. [...]

At the end of the letter the author hints at its background: "You should not play with the Torah leaders: They shed one tear and you're paralyzed for life."

On Wednesday, Bennett presented a plan to integrate haredim in the workforce, including a refund of occupational training for haredim who acquire a profession and find a job. These will also receive a grant for their efforts.

The new intiatives have raised an uproar in the haredi sector, and haredi Knesset members and the haredi media stepped up their rhetoric against Bennett, who has been referred to as "Satan" and "Amalek."

In March, MK Moshe Gafni (United Torah Judaism) accused Bennett of "declaring war on the Torah world," and lately Shas MK Aryeh Deri's son issued a statement which said: "Remember what Habayit Hayehudi did to you," alluding to Amalek.

How strange that despite Sharon's sadistic, traitorous acts against Israel towards the end of his career, including some acts of appeasement for the Haredis, they still come close to referencing him as though he were an enemy of theirs. In any case, this is a very serious case wherein a threat of violence was made all because they don't want to serve in the army/workforce. I hope the criminals who sent that threat letter get caught, and Bennett's office did the right think to call in the police to investigate the matter.

JORDAN'S PARLIAMENT FAVORS RELEASING ISLAMOFASCIST WHO MURDERED ISRAELI SCHOOLGIRLS

Jordan's politicians have just declared their own hostility to Israel, signaling it's getting worse there as they take the side of a military soldier who committed murder in the late 1990s:

110 of 120 Jordanian MPs signed a petition this week calling for the release of Jordanian Army Corporal Ahmed Daqamseh, who murdered seven Israeli schoolgirls, and injured five others and a school teacher, on March 12, 1997 in the Island of Peace site near Naharayim.

Daqamseh opened fire on a group of 80 seventh and eight grade school girls from AMIT Fuerst School in Bet Shemesh, who were visiting the "Island of Peace," a joint Israeli-Jordanian tourist resort under Jordanian rule.

Following the massacre, the late King Hussein of Jordan apologized for the attack and traveled to Israel to pay respect to the grieving families.

In February 2011, Jordanian Justice Minister Hussein Mjali, who previously served as Daqamseh's defense lawyer during the 1997 trial, called Daqamseh a hero and added that "if a Jew murdered Arabs, they'd [the Israelis] build him a statue."

BRITISH SHARIA COURTS POSING DANGER TO WOMEN

This UK Telegraph report confirms the worst concerns about sharia courts on the isle:

The courts, which issue rulings according to Islamic law, have been found to be giving Muslim women advice which experts warned may place them in danger.

Undercover filming in some of the 85 councils operating in mosques and houses across the country has revealed that the courts, which are run by sharia councils, are ruling in favour of men meeting estranged wives or having access to children when they have found to have been abusive.

Sharia law has no formal place in any of Britain’s legal systems. However, the investigation found courts in London which follow it were making rulings on domestic and marital issues according to Islamic law which appeared at odds with English family law.

Although they are not legally binding, those who were subject to the rulings them felt they had to follow them as a matter of religious belief - or because they felt under pressure from family and community to do so.

In one case filmed by a BBC reporter for the Panorama documentary, an Islamic scholar from a sharia council ruled in a custody dispute that the children should be taken away from their mother and be placed with their reportedly violent father.

The woman, known only as Sonia, who lives in Leeds, had already been granted a civil divorce in a British court, which had given her husband only limited access to the children.

However, when she went to Leyton Islamic Sharia Council, in east London, to be granted a divorce in the eyes of her religion it was ruled the children should be given to the father.

One Islamic school of thought decrees a father can take custody of a boy at the age of seven and a girl as young as nine.

Sonia told the reporter: “I could not bear the thought of such a violent person having my children. What was even more shocking was when I explained to Leyton why he shouldn’t have access to the children their reaction was - well you can’t go against what Islam says.”

Sonia stood her ground and eventually the Leyton judges dropped their demand.

When Islam is all they know, and the community keeps such a horrific choke-hold on its adherents, it's no wonder this kind of awful situation results. The mother should not have even bothered to go to a sharia court for an official divorce, but rather, sought a civil divorce.

OKLAHOMA'S ANTI-SHARIA BILL ON WAY TO GOVERNOR

It looks like it fully passed. Now, it's the governor's turn to complete the approval:

OKLAHOMA CITY – House Bill 1060 is now on its way to the governor’s desk.

The legislation would prohibit the application of foreign laws if it violates either the state Constitution or the U.S. Constitution.

The measure is similar to State Question 755, which specifically singled out “Sharia Law.”

That was approved by Oklahoma voters but overturned by the courts.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations is urging the governor not to sign the bill. They call it an attack on the religious principles of Islam.

We must hope the governor stands strong and signs the bill into law. It's not an attack on Islamic principals but rather, a measure to prevent local courts from following the worst elements.

A VICTORY FOR FREEDOM IN OKLAHOMA

The bill that can help prevent sharia has passed again in Oklahoma (Hat tip: Jihad Watch):

House Bill 1060, considered by some to be an "anti-Sharia" bill, passed the Oklahoma Senate Monday in a vote of 40 yeas to 3 nays. Due to an amendment being added, it awaits the approval of the bill's author before it can go to the governor.

"Any court, arbitration, tribunal, or administrative agency ruling or decision shall violate the public policy of this state and be void and unenforceable if the court, arbitration, tribunal, or administrative agency bases its rulings or decisions in the matter at issue in whole or in part on foreign law that would not grant the parties affected by the ruling or decision the same fundamental liberties, rights, and privileges granted under the U.S. and Oklahoma Constitutions," reads HB 1552.

Republican State Representative Sally Kern, author of HB 1552, told The Christian Post that while considered by some to be an attack on Muslims, the bill is not discriminatory.

"The bill is not biased against any particular group of people. It only deals with protecting our Constitutional rights when any foreign law would be used in an American court to deny any American of their Constitutional rights," said Kern.

This is not the first time that Oklahoma has considered an "anti-Sharia" law. In 2010, about 70 percent of Oklahoma voters approved State Question 755, a measure which said courts could not consider "international or Islamic law when deciding cases." After the question succeeded, a federal judge blocked it from being implemented, declaring it unconstitutional.

Thank goodness they've come up with an improved format this time. It's very vital for the sake of protecting the rights of citizens.

Some more bills to prevent bad foreign laws from being applied in the US have been drafted in more states. For example, Missouri:

JEFFERSON CITY, MO. — Court rulings based on laws made outside the U.S. would be unenforceable in Missouri if those laws violate the state or U.S. constitutions, under a bill endorsed by the Missouri Senate.

Versions of the bill considered in previous years specifically prohibited Islamic Sharia Law, but the legislation endorsed Wednesday would affect all foreign legal codes.

The measure is sponsored by Republican Sen. Brian Nieves, of Washington. He says it targets the concept of Missouri courts using policies that come from outside the United States that violate constitutional guarantees.

Opponents say the bill's language may jeopardize trade agreements and contracts with businesses in other countries.

It needs more one more vote before moving to the House.

So the excuse made by opponents here is that it would impede on trade? Please. That's not as important as human lives in distress.

Then, there's a new bill sponsored in Oklahoma:

On Monday, the Oklahoma State Senate passed legislation that would prevent the use of religious or foreign laws in American courts.

INSIDE THE SHARIA COURTS OF BRITAIN

The UK Telegraph wrote about the sharia courts prevalent in England, and how they discriminate against women, though there's taqqiya present in the article too:

This is Leyton Islamic Sharia Council, the oldest and most active such council in the country where scholars hear about 50 cases a month, most of them marital disputes. Nine out of 10 cases are brought by women because, in an Islamic marriage, it is far easier for a man to divorce; the only way for a woman is through one of these Sharia councils. No one knows how many there are in Britain today, in mosques and in houses – one report estimates at least 85. Although they cannot enforce their judgments, these councils control the lives of many Muslim women who may only have had a religious marriage. Even if they had a civil marriage too, some feel the need for a Sharia divorce as a way of moving on with their lives and finding a sense of resolution. [...]

“We are not just here to issue divorces, we want to mediate first,” Dr [Suhaib] Hasan explains. “We try to save marriages so when people come to us we try to reconcile them.”

But this pressure from Sharia councils and the community they serve is causing suffering – Islamic rulings are not always in the interests of women and can run counter to British law.

PALM BEACH POST TRIES OFFENSIVE TACTIC TO OPPOSE ANTI-SHARIA BILL

The Palm Beach Post, while writing about the anti-sharia bill that's passed a reading in Florida, has tried to use a mind-boggling approach to opposing it, citing the Jewish community's supposed opposition, while at the same time making an offensive claim about Jewish law:

Critics, including the Florida Bar, the Anti-Defamation League, the ACLU of Florida and the National Council of Jewish Women, contend the bill would have a negative impact on Jewish divorces, called “gets,” and could trouble the state’s relationship with Israel. Under Jewish law, only a man can grant a divorce to a woman.

That violates Florida and federal constitutional protections, David Barkey, religious freedom counsel for the Florida Anti-Defamation League told the panel. And it would bar courts from recognizing any divorce settlements granted under Israeli or Jewish law, he said.

Now just a minute. As far as I know, "gets" require both sides to agree. It may have once been the case that only a hubby could divorce, but that was modified several centuries ago. Even if Jewish law did still go by such an absurd direction though, does that mean I agree? Absolutely not, and there are many wives in disastrous marriages today who'd agree. Does the ADL actually want to adhere to an antiquated belief? Because there's plenty of "chained" women in modern Israeli society who'd rather such a law not be used to govern their status.

This would not have an adverse effect on relations with Israel at all, and that's why I strongly encourage the Florida senate to go ahead with passing the law, and any Jewish women in America who want a divorce that doesn't rely on poorly structures laws certainly shouldn't have to be required to put up with such things. Likewise, no Muslim woman should have to contend with a one-sided divorce procedure, especially if they're trapped in a violent, abusive relationship with a Muslim man. That's why the bill is being drafted, and I sure wouldn't defend Jewish law at all costs while other innocent lives are at stake.

POLICE SUCCEED IN CURBING ISLAMIC HONOR MURDERS IN 2012

According to a long report in the Jerusalem Post, the Israeli police have managed to curb honor murders for the first time in a decade:

Samah Salaime Egbariya sits in her small storefront office in the Israeli-Arab town of Lod and describes some of the murders in Lod and Ramle in recent years, rattling off the names of the women gunned down and stabbed to death by male relatives in what are commonly called “honor killings.”

She mentions the case of Yasmine Abu Tzaluk of Lod, who was shot 14 times – including seven times in the head – by her husband, Khaled, in April 2011, after a long dispute over his decision to take a second wife, and of a beautiful teenage girl killed after refusing her brother’s demand that she marry his business associate, a drug dealer from Jaffa.

Inside the office of the organization she runs – Na’am – Arab Women in the Center – Egbariya is collecting chairs and tables for a lecture and puppet show about sexual abuse that her organization is performing for young Arab women at a community center across the street, an event she says would have been unthinkable a few years back.

According to Egbariya, such community outreach by her organization and others has helped foster a greater awareness among local Arab women about what is permissible in relationships, and how to exert their own rights at home, an awareness that she says is partly responsible for the fact that in 2012, for the first time in a decade, not a single Israeli-Arab woman was murdered in a so-called honor killing in the police’s Central District.

While this article is interesting, one of the interviewees unfortunately downplays one of the more serious matters in the case:

[Yigal] EZRA ARGUES that Israelis have erred in viewing these murders as part of Islamic tradition, saying they’re in fact part of a pre-Islamic Beduin tradition that has spread into the wider Arab culture.

It is, he says “a clash between tradition and modernity and the criminality of people involved.

“What you have are criminal gangs that have taken over the culture of their families with their culture of machismo and criminality,” he says.

Has this man actually read the contents of the Koran? While I'm sure the concept could have existed long before Islam, it still ended up becoming part of a whole demonic belief system, and if we ignore that, we won't solve the problems completely.

The Israeli police should be congratulated for a job well done. But downplaying the beliefs expressed in the Koran is ill-advised, and if we don't scrutinize it, we won't solve the problems altogether.

DOCUMENTARY: 16 PHOTOGRAPHS AT OHRDRUF

A new documentary about the Holocaust and WW2 has been produced:

BOSTON (AP) - Matthew Nash's grandfather only mentioned the photographs to him once.

Twenty-five-years later, they are the subject of a new documentary on the Holocaust that Nash spent three years making after finding the pictures his grandfather took while serving as an Army medic in World War II.

Kept hidden from Nash and others in the family, the photos were not something Nash's grandfather seemed to want to talk about with relatives. But they were something he could never forget.

Nash's film - "16 Photographs at Ohrdruf" - tells of the first concentration camp that U.S. soldiers liberated in 1945.

The 72-minute film will have its first public screening Thursday evening at Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass., and also will be shown as part of the Boston International Film Festival on April 16 and the G.I. Film Festival in Washington in May.

The summer he was 12, Nash asked about his grandfather's World War II service as the two were stacking wood in his grandparents' barn in East Dorset, Vt.

"As I recall he got really quiet," said Nash, now a 37-year-old photography professor at Lesley University. "I think he just said, 'Yeah, we saw some really terrible things. When you get a little older, I'll show you some pictures and you'll understand.'"

But Donald Grant Johnson, a former Army lieutenant, died in 1991 without sharing the photos with his grandson. Family members only spoke of the pictures in whispers.

When Nash's grandmother threatened to destroy them when the subject came up at Thanksgiving dinner in 1995, Nash and his sister felt compelled to secretly sift through their late grandfather's belongings the following Christmas. That's when they found an envelope marked "Holocaust" tucked away in a wooden trunk. Inside were a few letters and a series of snapshots of a war horror the 23-year-old Johnson encountered as a soldier in April 1945.

Johnson took most of the photos at Ohrdruf in Germany. Nash believes his grandfather may have treated survivors of the camp, which the Germans had formed as a sub-camp of Buchenwald.

On a personalized sheet of notepaper with "Don Johnson" printed at the top, the 65th Infantry Division Army veteran cataloged the photo collection as best he could.

"Lime Pit - effort to destroy bodies," reads one handwritten caption. "Griddle used in (vain) attempt to incinerate bodies - note skull bottom center," reads another. "Small stack of bodies," says yet another.

Soldiers are on the outskirts of some of Johnson's shots, standing together to view piles of emaciated and burned corpses. Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower wanted many witnesses to the Nazi atrocity so that reports of it couldn't be dismissed as propaganda.

"He had as many units as possible come and see the camp," said Geoffrey Megargee, a scholar from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum who appears in Nash's film.

Johnson likely came to Ohrdruf within a few days of its liberation. He later returned home to become a banker, National Guard soldier, and a volunteer emergency-medical technician.

Some of Johnson's photos show survivors, including what he described as a survivor being treated by two camp doctors. The skeletal-looking man is lying on a cot, with what appears to be an open wound on his hip, as the men stand beside him. In another, a bare-chested boy of about 14 looks toward the camera, with what appears to be prisoner barracks in the background.

Nash found 19 photos in all and used 16 in his film. His research showed his grandfather may have shot a few of the photos at Mauthausen concentration camp in Austria.

The professor also discovered from letters his grandfather packed away with the pictures that he had wanted his photographs to become part of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. He said in one letter that he had visited more than one concentration camp, but Ohrdruf was engraved in his memory.

"I keep the pictures close at hand and have made a point of looking at them frequently," Johnson wrote. "And, during my years of National Guard service, I made a point of showing them to the personnel, hoping we could prevent any such disasters from happening again."

Johnson died two years before the museum opened, and before he sent the pictures. Nash has since given the photos to the museum for its archives, and said he's proud to have done that for his grandfather.

Nash made the documentary with about $5,000 and the help of friends in the film business.

Among film interviewees, Nash talked to veterans who served in the same infantry division as his grandfather, including Boston resident Edwin "Bud" Waite. The 87-year-old was an infantry soldier who wasn't part of liberating concentration camps, but visited Dachau later. He said he sees value in Nash's film effort.

"I think it's very important because the younger people nowadays, they don't really understand concentration camps back in World War II," Waite said.

Megargee, who will give a lecture before Thursday's screening, said Nash's film opens up a personal window into what the Allies were fighting against in World War II.

"When you can personalize the history, especially for younger kids, it helps to get them interested. It's one thing to talk about tens of thousands of camps. It's another thing to bring it down to the level of one American soldier," he said.

It sounds like a very interesting and impressive project, and I hope it gets the attention it needs.

The Russian president was confronted by a topless protester with an obscene slogan insulting Mr Putin painted on her back - and, he admitted, he “liked” it. 

Mr Putin was with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at at a trade fair in Hanover when the woman tried to push her way through to an amused-looking Mr Putin, but was blocked by aides. Her back was painted with an obscene slogan in Cyrillic script directed against the Russian president. 

The activist was with two other women who also stripped to the waist and shouted slogans calling the Russian leader a “dictator”. 

The women appeared to be members of the feminist group Femen, which has staged topless protests against the sex industry and religious institutions. 

Speaking at a press conference afterwards, Mr Putin said: “As for the protest, I liked it. In principle, we knew that such a protest was being prepared.”

ISRAEL'S SECURITY CAN'T BE TRUSTED TO OTHER NATIONS

That's what Benjamin Netanyahu made clear at this year's Holocaust Memorial service at Yad Vashem:

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke at the main state ceremony marking Holocaust Remembrance Day at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem on Sunday, quoting anti-Semitic statements by Iranian religious leaders as evidence that the hatred against the Jews that existed during the Holocaust is still in existence.

Netanyahu quoted Iranian religious leaders as recently saying, "the Zionists are microbes and bacteria, the Jews are polluted people that spread disease."

The prime minister continued: "That was not just said then, it is said today. They call us 'a cancerous growth which must be removed from the Middle East.'"

Netanyahu stated that anti-Semitic hatred "has not disappeared, it has been switched with murderous hatred against the state of the Jews. What has changed is our ability to defend ourselves."

The prime minister stated that while Israel appreciated the efforts of the world to thwart Iran's nuclear ambitions, Israel "cannot forfeit our security to other nations...not even to our closest allies."

ANTI-SEMITIC SURGE IN 2012

Recent research on rises in anti-semitism from last year tell the following:

Tel Aviv - Israeli researchers warned Sunday of a sudden upsurge in anti-Semitic attacks, topped by a deadly school shooting in France, noting a link to the rise of extremist parties in Europe.

The warnings emerge from an annual report on anti-Semitism in the world, released on the eve of Israel's memorial day for the 6 million Jews killed by German Nazis and their collaborators in World War II.

The report noted a 30% jump in anti-Semitic violence and vandalism last year, after a two-year decline. It was issued at Tel Aviv University, in co-operation with the European Jewish Congress, an umbrella group representing Jewish communities across Europe.

The report recorded 686 attacks in 34 countries, ranging from physical violence to vandalism of synagogues and cemeteries, compared to 526 in 2011. It said 273 of the attacks last year, or 40%, involved violence against people.

The report linked the March, 2012 shooting at a Jewish school in Toulouse, where an extremist Muslim gunman killed four people, to a series of attacks that followed - particularly in France, where physical assaults on Jews almost doubled.

The report by the university's Centre for the Study of Contemporary European Jewry found little correlation between the increase of anti-Semitic attacks and Israel's military operation in Gaza in November. While there was a spike in incidents at the time, it was much smaller in number and intensity than the one that followed the Toulouse school attack, said Roni Stauber, the chief researcher on the project.

"This shows that the desire to harm Jews is deeply rooted among extremist Muslims and right-wingers, regardless of events in the Middle East," he said. An Israeli offensive in Gaza four years earlier led to a significant spike in attacks against Jews in Europe.

I always find it hard to understand why they keep citing "right-wingers" no matter what kind of setup Europe has today. If "right-wingers" are a problem, then so are left-wingers.

Another problem is that neo-nazis are becoming mainstreamed in some European countries:

Moshe Kantor, president of the European Jewish Congress, called for strong action by the European Union, charging that governments - particularly in Hungary - were not doing enough to curb these parties' activities and protect minorities.

"Neo-Nazis have been once again legalised in Europe. They are openly sitting in parliaments," Kantor complained.

Kantor, a Russian-Swiss businessman, said the EU should even consider expelling Hungary and Greece. "If they do not protect their own population against neo-Nazism, with all the lessons Europe had already, maybe there is no place for them in the European Union," he told The Associated Press after the presentation of the report. There was no immediate reaction from European officials, but the chances of punishing any country for the results of a democratic election are slim. The EU has never suspended a member state, much less tried to expel one.

That's no surprise - the EU is one of the most corrupt outfits on the globe, and you can't expect them to be any help. Nor can anyone expect them to combat the rise of Islamofascism on the European continent.

GEN. BENNY GANTZ VISITS AUSCHWITZ

The IDF chief of staff has visited what was one of the most nightmarish sites in Poland/Europe, and said that:

IDF Chief of Staff Lt-Gen. Benny Gantz spoke at the site of the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland on Sunday on the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day, saying that "Israel ensures that a horror such as this will not recur."

Gantz, who was set to lead the March of the Living memorial event on Monday, said that "the IDF is the defensive shield of the national home - a safe haven for the Jewish people."

Gantz added that he was proud in the name of Holocaust survivors, "to learn the lessons of the past in order to ensure the safety of the future."

Gantz landed in Poland on Sunday together with a delegation of senior military officials to take part in the March of the Living.

Parents who lost their children in battle, disabled IDF veterans, and a Holocaust survivor have joined the delegation.

Thank goodness today, we have control over our own country.
