If Clear Channel won't clean up its airways, then surely it's time for the public to ask the FCC a basic question: Are the stations carrying Limbaugh's show in fact using their licenses "in the public interest?" 

Spectrum is a scarce government resource. Radio broadcasters are obligated to act in the public interest and serve their respective communities of license. In keeping with this obligation, individual radio listeners may complain to the FCC that Limbaugh's radio station (and those syndicating his show) are not acting in the public interest or serving their respective communities of license by permitting such dehumanizing speech. 

The FCC takes such complaints into consideration when stations file for license renewal. For local listeners near a station that carries Limbaugh's show, there is plenty of evidence to bring to the FCC that their station isn't carrying out its public interest obligation. Complaints can be registered under the broadcast category of the FCC website: http://www.fcc.gov/complaints 

This isn't political. While we disagree with Limbaugh's politics, what's at stake is the fallout of a society tolerating toxic, hate-inciting speech.

100 ROCKETS FIRED FROM GAZA

Terrorist attacks from Hamas-dominated Gaza have struck again:

Palestinian terrorists in Gaza targeted cities, towns, and farming regions in southern Israel with waves of rockets throughout Friday and Saturday, setting off air raid sirens and injuring eight people

One hundred rockets - Kassams and the longer-range Grads - were fired by midday Saturday at civilian regions. Of those, the Iron Dome anti-rocket system intercepted 25 projectiles heading directly into city centers in Ashdod, Beersheba and Ashkelon. Seventy-five rockets exploded in Israeli territory, most of them in open fields. The barrage came after the IAF foiled a major terror attack, killing the secretary general of the Popular Resistance Committees, Zuhair Qaisi.

Eight people were injured on Friday evening. In the Eshkol Regional Council, a 40-year-old man was seriously injured from rocket shrapnel, a second man was moderately injured by shrapnel in his stomach, and a third was lightly injured. Paramedics said the injured were foreign workers. An electric pole and a vehicle were also damaged in the same area.

The seriously injured man was airlifted to the Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, and remains in critical condition.

Two people were lightly injured in a car accident that occurred during an air raid siren at the Emunim Junction between Ashdod and Ashkelon on Friday evening.

Three other people in the South were lightly injured while fleeing for cover during sirens. One civilian was treated for shock. The injured were taken to the Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot and the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon for treatment.

Officially, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) says the inflation rate, or Consumer Price Index (CPI), for 2011 was 3%.

But a report issued last week by the non-profit group American Institute for Economic Research (AIER) says the U.S. inflation rate for 2011 is far higher - 8%. 

AIER used criteria based only on common daily expenditures to more accurately reflect how inflation affects consumers. Their index excluded less-frequently purchased items, like automobiles. 

Economic consultant John Williams, an outspoken critic of the government's economic statistics, contends things are even worse. 

Using the government's old methodology from 1980 - before politicians started to monkey with the formula - he calculates the real inflation rate is north of 10%. 

That's more than triple the government's figure.

This is the result of the Fed and the ECB printing money and it is just the start.

The church in Bethlehem had survived more than 1,000 years, through wars and conquests, but its future now seemed in jeopardy. Spray-painted all over its ancient stone walls were the Arabic letters for Hamas. The year was 1994 and the city was about to pass from Israeli to Palestinian control. I was meeting with the church's clergy as an Israeli government adviser on inter-religious affairs. They were despondent but too frightened to file a complaint. The same Hamas thugs who had desecrated their sanctuary were liable to take their lives. The trauma of those priests is now commonplace among Middle Eastern Christians. Their share of the region's population has plunged from 20% a century ago to less than 5% today and falling. In Egypt, 200,000 Coptic Christians fled their homes last year after beatings and massacres by Muslim extremist mobs. Since 2003, 70 Iraqi churches have been burned and nearly a thousand Christians killed in Baghdad alone, causing more than half of this million-member community to flee. Conversion to Christianity is a capital offense in Iran, where last month Pastor Yousef Nadarkhani was sentenced to death. Saudi Arabia outlaws private Christian prayer.

... In the speech Ragsdale defended previous remarks she has made stating that “abortion is a blessing.”

As the daughter of a mechanic and the wife of a retired mechanic/automotive-parts worker, I have known about garage matters all my life. In fact, I recall seeing boxes with the label "Delphi" on them in my father's garage. Therefore, this story caught my eye:

Bruce Gump, a representative of the Delphi Retirees Association, testified before Congress last year that the Treasury could have covered 93 percent of the benefits of all employees for the same amount that it spent on full union benefits.

Mexican drug cartels 'operating in the UK, France and Netherlands'. Telegraph

Mexico’s violent drug cartels have reached the streets of Britain, France and the Netherlands, according to US immigration officials, with undercover British agents undergoing training in El Paso to combat the problem.

Three members of Britain's Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) met US agents on the Texas-Mexico border this week in a bid to put a stop to cartels taking hold on Britain and Europe. 

The British agents spoke about surveillance tactics, special operations teams and cybercrime units, according to a US immigration officials. 

On Thursday, they watched how ICE investigators tore apart a car where a cargo of marijuana was found at the Paso del Norte Bridge in this West Texas city. 

The agents are expected to head to Miami next week to learn about port operations in the US. 

"The most important lesson that we have shared with SOCA, is that if they are not prepared to deal with the Mexican cartels, they will spread like a cancer and will entrench themselves in the economy and community in an attempt to 'legitimise' their illicit profits.” Oscar Hagelsieb, an agent at the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations office, said. “They must also be aware of the violence that will undoubtedly follow."

The British agents were also interested in how El Paso has managed to remain one of the safest cities in the US even though it's across the Rio Grande from Ciudad Juarez, a city afflicted by one of the highest murder rates in the hemisphere.

Terrorist stabs soldier during terror culprit roundup

While recapturing another terrorist released during Shalit exchange, this took place:

An IDF soldier was stabbed in the neck during a security operation in the village of Yatta south of Hebron. The terrorist was shot and wounded by another soldier during the attack. Another terrorist was shot to death. The wounded soldier was evacuated to Hadassah Ein-Kerem Hospital by ambulance. He was reported to be conscious with a gash in his neck.

The IDF reported that the stabbing took place when villagers tried to stop the arrest of Khaled Mahamrah, who was released a few months ago, with more than 1,000 other security prisoners in exchange for Gilad Shalit. IDF Spokesman Yoav Mordechai said that Mahamrah dealt in money used by terror organizations.

The alleged stabber was identified as Zakaria Abu-Aram. His weapons was a paper cutter. He and the other terrorist allegedly rushed soldiers at the front of Mahamrah's house. Brigadier General Mordechai said that the force acted correctly.

The IDF arrested three terrorists in the Hevron vicinity over night during a series of raids as the Purim holiday got underway.

Another One Of Obama's Green Energy Investments Fails: Consumer Report's Fisker Test Car Farts Out With Less Than 200 Miles On It

The Obama Administration put $529 million into Fisker, only to have the company decide to build it's cars in Finland. The Obama Administration then APPROVED of the movement of the manufacturing to Finland.

If that was not penis-shrinking enough for Barack, now Consumer Reports has bought a Fisker to test drive, only to have it break down - with a "major fault" - with less than 200 miles on the car.

Read it and weep, or laugh, as you will.

Our Fisker Karma cost us $107,850. It is super sleek, high-tech—and now it’s broken.

We have owned our car for just a few days; it has less than 200 miles on its odometer. While doing speedometer calibration runs on our test track (a procedure we do for every test car before putting it in service by driving the car at a constant 65 mph between two measured points), the dashboard flashed a message and sounded a “bing“ showing a major fault. Our technician got the car off the track and put it into Park to go through the owner’s manual to interpret the warning. At that point, the transmission went into Neutral and wouldn’t engage any gear through its electronic shifter except Park and Neutral.

We let the car sit for about an hour and restarted it. We could now engage Drive and the same error message disappeared. After moving it only a few feet the error message reappeared and when we tried to engage Reverse the transmission went straight to Park and again no motion gear could be engaged. After calling the dealer, which is about 100 miles away, they promptly sent a flatbed tow truck to haul away the disabled Fisker.

We buy about 80 cars a year and this is the first time in memory that we have had a car that is undriveable before it has finished our check-in process.

Good News: GREECE COMPLETES BOND-SWAP

Greece completed a crucial debt swap with private creditors on Thursday, clearing the way for the country to substantially lower its debt burden and moving it closer to receiving a badly needed second official bailout, according to media reports. 

Bondholders representing some 85% of Greece’s outstanding private-sector debt, well above the government’s minimum threshold, have signed up to take part in the swap, according to the reports. The high rate of participation will allow Greece to force any holders of bonds regulated under Greek law to participate in the swap.

TLC HAS CANCELED ALL-AMERICAN MUSLIM

In this latest news on JWR, they report that All-American Muslim, the basically whitewashed, superficial documentary series about Muslims in Dearbornistan, has been canned:

"All-American Muslim," the reality TV show on TLC based in Dearborn, Mich., that ignited a national controversy, will not be back for a second season, the Detroit Free Press has learned.

TLC officials said the show was canceled because of low ratings, noting that viewership dropped from 1.7 million for its first episode in November to 729,000 in January. But cast members, such as Suehaila Amen, said that 30 other shows on TLC had similar ratings and were not canceled.

The show came under fire from anti-Muslim bloggers who called for a boycott of advertisers on the show. Under pressure, the home improvement store Lowe's pulled ads from "All-American Muslim" after hearing of complaints from conservative Christians and Jews who were upset that that show did not portray Muslim Americans as extremists.

Oh for heaven's sake. That's not exactly the problem: it's that the show wouldn't acknowledge the darkness of Islam. Normalizing bad belief systems does not a convincing reality series make, and not surprisingly, the show even had its detractors on the Muslim side:

Some conservative Muslims also did not like the show because they thought the characters were not pious enough; one woman on the show wore short skirts and wanted to open a nightclub. Other conservative Muslims complained that all of the characters on the show were Lebanese-American Shiites.

Well now isn't that interesting how only Muslims described as "conservative" are kosher - or halal - in the view of the MSM.

I remember how leftists went ape after Lowe's pulled their ads from this tommyrot, but after at least 60 other advertisers canceled theirs too, the left fell silent, and predictably never acknowledged how the show had Muslim detractors as well who couldn't stand how it didn't comply with their sharia-based beliefs. I'll bet that, if a show came along documenting the lives of Christian Arabs and apostates from Islam (could be called All-American Arab and have the bonus of being ideally alliterative), they wouldn't support it at all. Too bad for them of course, because that would only show just how narrow they really are.

... when spread by sources of credit, the only place where credit came from was the US government, which funded a near record $28 billion, all of it going into student loans, even as every other source of credit declined in the month! Student-loan debt may be the next major U.S.-asset bubble to burst, according to Standard & Poor's. 

The problem: colleges and universities are hamstrung with lower endowments, while students have increasingly lower prospects of ever paying back their loans. Student debt now outpaces credit-card debt, approaching $1 trillion for the first time. 

The Project on Student Debt found that in 2008, 67 percent of college students at four-year universities were graduating with student-loan debt. That number is even higher for students at private nonprofit and for-profit colleges and universities. 

"Student-loan debt has ballooned and may turn into a bubble," the S&P said, as reported by Bloomberg. "There are more defaults and downgrades for some student-loan asset-backed securities."

The eurozone faces a disastrous, €1 trillion (£833 billion) blow if Greece is allowed to slide into a chaotic default, international bankers warned today. 

The leaked, doomsday scenario emerged from the Institute of International Finance — the body representing the banks and hedge fund holders of Greek debt leading negotiations with Athens over the financial rescue. 

It comes two days ahead of a crucial deadline for investors holding €206 billion in Greek bonds to sign up to a swap cutting the value of their debt by around 75% to ease the beleaguered nation’s debt pile.  

The memo warned of “very important and damaging ramifications” from a Greek default, including further bailouts for Portugal and Spain as well as €350 billion pumped into Spain and Italy to prevent an even more catastrophic collapse. The European Central Bank — facing €177 billion in losses on Greece — may also need to be recapitalised, it added. 

The raising of the stakes by the IIF further fuelled the jitters in stock markets this week, after China pared back growth targets on Monday.

Meanwhile, a third X-37B space plane mission is being readied, and could even launch later this year, Space.com has learned.
The X-37B space plane currently orbiting Earth is the second spacecraft of its kind built for the Air Force by Boeing’s Phantom Works. Known as the Orbital Test Vehicle 2, or OTV-2, its classified mission is under the wing of the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office. 

 

The robotic X-37B space plane is a reusable spacecraft that resembles a miniature space shuttle. The Air Force launched the OTV-2 mission on March 5, 2011, with an unmanned Atlas 5 rocket lofting the space plane into orbit from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.
